President Mark Yarbrough sits down with Chick-fil-A executive Cliff Robinson to discuss leadership, family and ministry.
Revo is not a new company, but it's now in the process of reintroducing itself to more people. The performance eyewear brand first launched in the '80s selling fashionable sunglasses with science-backed sun protection. Over the years, the brand got sold to many big players, including Ray-Ban and Essilor Luxxotica. But in 2018, an eyewear company called B. Robinson -- with the help of some outside investors -- decided to purchase Revo. "It didn't have the same level of investment and the same level of support that it has had as an independent brand," said Cliff Robinson, the CEO of Revo, as well as the chief executive of B. Robinson. Now, the company is in growth mode once again and just opened its first U.S. store in New York -- less than a year after opening a store in Barcelona. "The growth has been coming from all these different sectors," said Robinson. "We're seeing growth in optical stores. We're seeing growth in the golf channel. We're seeing growth in the winter market with both goggles and sunglasses at resort areas. We're seeing growth from resorts and hospitality." Robinson joined the Modern Retail Podcast and spoke about the new strategy with Revo and what's ahead. The focus now is on reintroducing people to the brand. They may remember it from decades ago, but now the company is trying to get front and center. With that, it's been working with athletes -- including the U.S. sailing team. According to Robinson, Revo has always had the chance to become a true eyewear leader. "We felt there was this really great opportunity to breathe some additional life -- breathe some additional TLC -- and really make Revo the independent brand that it had been previously," he said.

Cliff Robinson is the CEO of Revo. Previously, he was the CEO of B. Robinson LLC, a worldwide designer and manufacturer of branded and private label eyewear founded in 1926 by Cliff's grandfather, Ben Robinson. In 2018, Cliff was part of a private investment group that acquired the Revo brand. Cliff has a B.A. from Brown University and an MBA from New York University, Stern School of Business. He is a founding member of the NYC chapter of YPO. He currently lives in Westport, CT with his wife and 3 children. He is an avid sports and music fan, a “foodie”, an outdoor enthusiast, and a political junkie. He has lectured extensively at eyewear-related events and conventions and has authored continuing education classes for eyecare professionals. “We like to say that Revo was born in a NASA research lab in the late 80s! The full story includes a NASA astrophysicist, Dr. Mitch Ruda, who was working on a project to protect satellites from the harsh rays of the sun. He also happened to be an avid skier who knew firsthand how dangerous the sun could be to the eyes. He had a simple idea: what if he used the technology behind the coatings that protect satellites on sunglasses to protect our eyes. With that revolutionary idea, Revo was born.” “Revo's core values are heritage, performance, and passion. To us, heritage is celebrating our history as the first-ever performance eyewear brand. Performance represents our focus on consistently pursuing new technologies.” Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This episode of the podcast includes a plan I've had with Cliff Robinson for like ten years. Cliff has an incredible radio voice. I've always told him that if I were ever on the radio, I would need that beautiful voice to be used as my introduction. A podcast is our modern radio and this worked perfectly. Cliff recorded words that ring true to me and I'm betting to a lot of you. Major props on the perfection and seriously, thank you for going out of your way to do that for me, buddy. Me and Kyle Esh, for the first time, in a long time, possibly EVER, spoke on the phone. I won't lie to you... Me and Kyle have one of those ridiculous hardly-see-each-other friendships where the companionship probably shouldn't even be real. But we've maintained contact and I do consider him a friend and somebody (one of the few) who can give me a good laugh. I removed a few things each of us said during this conversation after they were deemed too controversial to be made public. Having said that, there's still a metric fuck ton of conttroversy that I chose not to remove.I'd also like to applaud Kyle for beating the longest podcast record length at a record-shattering 3 Hours, 10 minutes, 40 seconds. Congratulations and well done.

The Portland Trail Blazers beat the Detroit Pistons 110-92 on Tuesday night in a game where Damian Lillard, Norman Powell and Nassir Little all sat out with injuries. But the shorthanded Blazers got 28 points from CJ McCollum and a professional scorer type night from Ben McLemore who added 17 off the bench. It wasn't a pretty win, but you do not score extra for style points. There's still plenty to unpack. The guys start with the weekly Check-In with Mack going back to the chiropractor and takes his car for a wash. Vin goes on an adventure to Mountain Creek Resort to there Treescape Park to engage in some “whipipo” activities. Rick rejoices now that he and the wife are finally baby-free in the bedroom! L.O. rounds it out with another installment of this Ghetto House. As we all know 2020 has been no stranger to tragedy and this past week we lost three more icons John Thompson, Cliff Robinson and the Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman. We can all agree that the loss of Chadwick was a hard one to take. He was a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood and a global symbol that brought millions of people joy and hope. Coach John Thompson and his legendary career at Georgetown helped shape so many young Black men. Under his tutelage, players such as Patrick Ewing and Alan Iverson, and many other men evolved into professional athletes, businessmen, and cultural icons. And, Cliff Robinson, who succumbed to a yearlong battle with lymphoma at the age of 53 was a UConn basketball and NBA star. They all will be remembered! In This Week In Racism, we discuss the scumbag, Kyle Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse is the 17-year old radicalized white male savage who traveled to Wisconsin, with his mother, armed with an AR-15, and killed two protestors and injured another.
