Today on another brand new episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast, we give you part one of our conversation with Suzanne Lloyd, the granddaughter of silent film comedy star & Christmas tree obsessive, Harold Lloyd. Now, if the name (or the image) of Harold Lloyd doesn't immediately ring a bell like Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin, this is one of the reasons we do this podcast, to make sure the legacy of legendary (or sometimes just working actors) are not forgotten. And after you hear Suzanne's lengthy and almost encyclopedic remembrances of the man who raised her and why his name isn't always mentioned as one of the three silent film comedians, you will understand it after listening to part one and next week's part two. There is a reason. One we know all too well ourselves with the Ernie Kovacs estate. On today's episode, we discuss the silent era of film and names like Hal Roach, Colleen Moore, Mary Pickford, Daryl Zanuck, Irving Thalberg, Snub Pollard and more are bandied about like so many of Suzanne's colorful stories about Harold Lloyd. We also hearabout Suzanne's grandmother, actress Mildred Davis who was a pretty huge silent film star in her own right. It's a whirlwind of information that fans of silent films won't get enough of and fans who love old Hollywood but maybe don't know the silent era well will want to learn more about. Suzanne was a marvelous guest – someone who knows dates, places, studios, names and more like these things happened just yesterday. It's clear that because she now controlls the Harold Lloyd Estate and his production company that she learned all this while also genuinely loving her grandfather who raised her like a daughter. It's terrific stuff. So now podcast listeners, we bring you the story of Speedy aka Harold Lloyd on this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast. Take a listen.

Talks between the U.S. and North Korea have been stalled for years. During that time, Pyongyang has resumed ballistic missile testing and Seoul and Washington have restarted large-scale joint military drills. DPRK leader Kim Jong Un himself said he would never again participate in denuclearization talks. To Christine Ahn and Colleen Moore of Women Cross DMZ, a women-led organization that advocates for peace on the Korean Peninsula, the way through this impasse is simple: end the Korean War. Ahn and Moore join the NK News podcast to discuss what they call the “forever war,” what makes the armistice agreement fundamentally insufficient, multilateral support for a new approach to Pyongyang, how a flooded river in Korea helped inspire their organization and more. Christine Ahn (@christineahn) is the executive director at Women Cross DMZ, and Colleen Moore (@cmoo11_) is the advocacy director. About the podcast: The North Korea News Podcast is a weekly podcast hosted by Jacco Zwetsloot (@JaccoZed) exclusively for NK News, covering all things DPRK — from news to extended interviews with leading experts and analysts in the field, along with insight from our very own journalists.

By the end of 1916, the Allied and Central powers were exhausted and were facing serious political, economic and social problems. For Russia, a country already struggling with the structural problems of autocracy, the troubles of 1916 led to revolution. To learn more about the timeline and particulars of the Russian Revolution, we had a conversation with Dr. Colleen Moore, Assistant Professor of History at James Madison University.
On this episode Colleen Moore of Dalkita talks with Daniel Croxall an attorney, a professor and a beverage law expert about the 3-tiered system, tied house laws, violations and a case study of Seven Stills Brewery and Distillery in California.
Scott talks to Colleen Moore about America’s withdrawal from global nuclear arms agreements under the Trump administration. Part of the reason for Trump’s keenness on pulling out of these agreements is his reputation as a tough negotiator who prioritizes America’s interest and won’t tolerate “bad deals,” but he’s also received nonstop allegations from the left for four years that he’s a Russian puppet, which makes it very difficult to try to make peace with them. Luckily, nuclear arms reduction is an issue that 80% of Americans support, so Scott and Moore see a huge opportunity for politicians to make this a leading issue in the future. Discussed on the show: “Nuclear Arms Nightmare: Don’t Let New START Die” (The National Interest)Command and Control: Nuclear Weapons, the Damascus Accident, and the Illusion of Safety“Command and Control (2016)” (IMDb) Colleen Moore is the Digital Engagement Manager at Beyond the Bomb and Global Zero.
