Colt and David sit down with singer/songwriter Hannah Ellis. Curb Records recording artist Hannah Ellis' journey – and world – is one all can feel at home in. The Campbellsville, Kentucky-native's voice - a mix of favorite flannel, sparkling pink wine and welcome - is the friend we always wanted. Whether pouring from a car radio or your phone, the act named to Rolling Stone's “Artist To Watch” list reminds you big leaps often come as a series of small steps when no one is looking. Having paid for her University of Kentucky degree with her full-ride scholarship, she – with the full support of her family – started chasing her dreams. Like so many, that meant a trip to The Voice on NBC, a self-financed EP, and moving to Nashville to begin the endless rounds of writers nights, meetings, making friends, and trying to find your way. Hannah paid her dues, kept her focus and kept moving towards something she was sure she felt and knew was right. The fresh-faced songwriter has since written songs recorded by artists, and been featured as a vocalist on songs, spanning multiple genres, including: Russell Dickerson, Carly Pearce, for KING & COUNTRY, Danielle Bradbery, and Francesca Battestelli. The magnetic artist, who made her Grand Ole Opry debut on Sept 28th, 2023, has toured with Gavin DeGraw, Dwight Yoakam, Carly Pearce, Martina McBride, Billy Currington, Jake Owen and many others, and has toured as part of the CMT “Next Women of Country” Tour.Website: www.hannahellismusic.comFacebook: www.facebook.com/hannahellismusicInstgram: www.instagram.com/hannahgreyellisTwitter (X): www.twitter.com/hannahgreyellisTikTok: www.tiktok.com/@hannahgreyellisYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/hannahgreyellis/videosSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2X0AxEXX0KGKIhMxo1WvjQSend us a textSupport the Show.Check out our socials and follow us!Facebook: www.facebook.com/TwangTownPodcastInstagram: www.instagram.com/TwangTownPodTwitter: www.twitter.com/TwangTownPodWe would love your support to continue to bring listeners amazing content!Cash App: www.cash.app/$TwangTownPodBuzzsprout: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2232176/support

After more than a decade of writing hits for others, Hannah Ellis is finally keeping some songs for herself. The Kentucky native's highly anticipated debut, That Girl(available Jan. 12, 2024), boasts 13 original tracks all co-penned by the in-demand lyricist. From the clever wordplay of “Wine Country” and “Karma On The Rocks” to the raw vulnerability of “Someone Else's Heartbreak” and “Too Much and Not Enough,” Ellis' first full-length record reveals a seasoned songwriter fully embracing her small-town roots, her real-life romance, and her newfound artistic voice on every level. Morgan chats from his tour bus Last month, Craig Morgan -- Army veteran, country music hit-maker and star of the CBS series Beyond The Edge -- released his much-anticipated personal memoir, God, Family, Country, in partnership with Blackstone Publishing. The book, which Morgan wrote with Jim DeFelice, details the country star's road to success, from his humble childhood in Tennessee to his years as an elite military operative to his country music stardom with 25 Billboard charting hits. He recently wrapped a six city in-person national book tour where he chatted with fans and personally signing copies of the book. I met with him in Los Angeles where he discussed his life with the small audience. He will release the deluxe edition of his latest album, God, Family, Country (Deluxe Edition), on November 11th. The project, aptly releasing on Veterans Day and coinciding with his headlining show at Nashville's iconic Ryman Auditorium, features 14 tracks including “How You Make A Man,” Morgan's newest single impacting country radio now. Morgan will launch his headlining Operation Finally Home Welcomes God, Family, Country Tour 2022 with Craig Morgan this fall, playing 11 theater and auditorium dates in October and November. Kicking off October 19th in Green Bay, WI, he'll be joined by country hitmaker Ray Fulcher to open the shows. We apologize for any inconvenience.* As Rolling Stone so cleverly put it, Hannah Ellis is an artist for fans of “spontaneous declarations of love.” This Kentucky native is creating forward-thinking pop country music with a lyric that pulls from real-life experiences. This approach has garnered Hannah a great deal of attention in the last year as she was named to CMT’s Next Women of Country, as well as one of Rolling Stone’s “Artists to Watch.” Her single, “Home and a Hometown”, premiered on CMT last summer and has since been featured on Sirius XM’s “On the Horizon,” and even charted in the Top 100 on Mediabase Country, despite being an independent release. Growing up in her small hometown of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Hannah sang in every local competition she could, eventually leading her to compete in Season 8 of The Voice. Once returning home to Nashville, she signed a publishing deal with Curb|Word Entertainment. Hannah has since had songs recorded by artists like Russell Dickerson, Danielle Bradbery, and most recently, the current Cassadee Pope single. While writing full time, Hannah has continued traveling and playing shows. She signed with Creative Artists Agency at the end of 2017 and has since toured as the opener for artists such as Dwight Yoakam, Montgomery Gentry, and Devin Dawson. You can see Hannah out on the road this spring on the CMT Next Women of Country Tour with Cassadee Pope and Clare Dunn, and be on the lookout for some new music coming soon.
Aubrie Sellers released Far From Home - the follow up to her critically acclaimed album New City Blues - in February 2020. Rolling Stone called the record “halting and poignant” and Paste Magazine says ”she’s an honest storyteller with a singular personality. She can both float in on a cloud of love songs and crank out existential country-rock.” Having previously toured with Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, and Robert Earl Keen among others, she is set to head out on the CMT Next Women of Country Tour with Tanya Tucker in 2021. When she’s not on the road, Aubrie spends her time supporting non-profits and organizations like Girls to the Moon, Feminist Camp, Imagination Library, and World Vision and promoting her love of reading with her book club Biblioclique. Her new EP of cover songs, World On Fire, comes out in August 7th 2020. https://aubriesellers.com

September 30thSYDNEY CLIMATE STRIKE Produced by Vivien Langford in Sydney. Thanks to Michaela and Andy in MelbourneSpeakers:Gadrian Hoosen – Garawa and Yanyuwa man from Boroloola, Pacific Warriors, Jean Hinchcliff, Tommy John Herbert MUA, President of Teachers’ Federation, ASU,PSA, ETU, CFMMEU, APHEDA, Parents and Grandparents and a Concerned Scientist .Music: Ready by Montaigne and New Orleans by David RovicsIt felt like an historic turning point. Not just the 100,000+ in the Domain but the new energy in the climate movement. One of the marshalls was Jenny, a climate activist I knew from 12 years ago. She reminded me of the street theatre we used to do down at Circular Quay, dramatising the climate emergency. I’d borrow a polar bear suit from a Greenpeace Giant and was glad of the disguise as I didn’t want to be recognised from my workplace. I had piles of fur around my ankles but Japanese Tourists would put their arms around me and want a cute photo. Most people didn’t understand at all that we were doing a “Die In” Climate Change was not mainstream. Now, Jenny said, she went to organising meetings and”it’s all new people”.The kaleidoscope has turned and a new coalition of students and workers, parents and professionals, has unified around the disbelief that we are still making profits out of an economy that is creating catastrophe. The media reported this as a children’s event and missed the fact that unions and churches were there in great numbers. The students have been making allies with unionists and have been on a steep learning curve about the dire realities of striking for most workers in Australia. As I wove through the crowd I learned that many workers are affected by climate change already. You will hear from a ship builder working inside the metal hulk on a heatwave day, of the firemen and forest workers confronted by uncontrollable fires in areas where they are running out of water. Factory workers processing milk are losing jobs because of the drought. Electricians working on solar farm installations are horrified at unskilled casuals working for $10 an hour and no regulation of the work. There were hundreds of stories there to be told As we walked past the parliament I imagined a cynical sign in the sky “....Tell someone who cares!” because this new climate awareness of workers and young people does not seem to be registering among our leaders. You can send this podcast to any of them in case they are trying NOT to hear the message from the streets. https://www.3cr.org.au/beyondzero POWER OF COUNTRY TOUR at Sydney Town HallMusic by Stuart Nuggett in Jingili Language –Bundurru (food)Speakers:Millie Telford – Seed Mob, Indigenous youth climate movementStuart Nuggett – Jingili Musician from Beetaloo BasinNicole Hutton – Garrawa woman from BoroloolaNaomi Hogan – Lock The Gate Alliance/Stop Origin Fracking the NTJulie Lyford – Groundswell Gloucester. We were there to hear traditional owners and NT Community members help us understand the risks to precious waterways, to local health and to all of us if that gas is ever allowed to hasten climate catastrophe.Millie Telford, a vivacious young leader, animated the conversation on stage with musician Stuart Nuggett and Nicole Hutton. She said “We can’t do it alone. It’s time to take this fight all around the country”City people were urged to stand with our fellow citizens in remote parts of the NT. They cannot rally 100,000 climate activists, as we can in the cities, but we can support them by sending a message to Origin Energy and the NT government who lifted their moratorium on fracking for gas. It's not too late to bring it down again.Julie Lyford encouraged the NT people from her experience in Gloucester, they fought off AGL gas and the Rocky Hill Coal Mine and call themselves the mouse that roared. She said “Do not be scared at AGMs Tell them how it is.
