Matt from the duo Sons of Atticus catches up with Rae Leigh on a featured podcast chat about the origin of the band and the lessons, development and exciting experiences they have had since releasing their debut song in 2021. Amongst the chaos of a rowdy bar in their hometown, Matt and Dylan crossed paths for the first time and instantly hit it off with a few beers, tacos and their love for country music. It wasn't long before the two started to write, record and perform the kind of music that inspired them both growing up. Since then, Matt and Dylan have become Tasman Guitar ambassadors, have released a Debut EP, have matching Elvis Presley tattoos and have now released their new single into the world. A song for the road when you miss the ones at home. Sore Eyes depicts the balancing act of a traveller feeling the strain of following their dream while being away from the ones they love most. The duo's short and sharp existence has already seen them support the likes of CW Stoneking, Andrew Farris, and Catherine Britt & Lachlan Bryan's new duo, The Pleasures. In April, the boys made their way to Tamworth to perform across venues for the Tamworth Country Music Festival. July saw them release their single ‘Sad Songs' which was paired with a small tour along the south coast of NSW, teaming up with a local brewing company for the run of shows. Recently, Matt and Dylan travelled to Mackay to open up the main stage of NQ's Rock'n Country Festival. Connect with Sons Of Atticus: Facebook Spotify YouTube Instagram

Hailey Whitters is an Iowa-born, Nashville-based country singer-songwriter with a handful of solo albums and a Grammy nomination to her credit. Earlier this year Hailey had her first headlining tour from February to May (including some dates in the U.K. and Ireland for the C2C: Country to Country Festival in March). Next, Hailey is going out on a national tour opening for country star John Pardi starting in Irving, Texas on July 14 and finishing in Nashville on October 1. Her third album, Raised, including the single "Everything She Ain't," was released in March on her own Pigasus Records label in partnership with Big Loud's Songs and Daughters imprint. Holler gave the album 9 out of 10 and called it "a generous and unabashed celebration of growing up in a big family in a small town, that cements Whitters as a true country songwriter of note." Aaron Joined John on the phone to chat his Music and the New Release EP " Changed " - FROM opening the Tamworth Country Music Festival and being announced for other major festival appearances, to writing with award-winning artists and releasing charting singles to radio, Aaron Jurd has achieved it all in a few short years. The Lake Macquarie singer-songwriter releases his third single, Changed, on August 2, charting at No. 8 on iTunes, following on from Hard To Breathe, which hit the top 20 of iTunes celebrating all those feelings of new love. His debut single, Set Me On Fire, reached the top 5 of the iTunes Country Song Charts and tells of the emotional struggles that come with reaching the lowest point in your life, but knowing there is a way out, although you haven’t found it yet. His new single, Changed, on the other hand, is the next chapter from Set Me On Fire, and celebrates the silver lining after the storm. The talented artist has spent years playing gigs in cover bands and duos, but is now performing his originals with his band, The Banned, and this year, so far, they’ve played the Bluewater Country Music Festival and Off to Country Festival with the Deni Ute Muster. Aaron graduated from the 2018 CMAA Academy of Country Music in January 2018 and, with his fellow graduates, performed at the Official Opening Concert of the Tamworth Country Music Festival and was selected to perform at the 2018 Golden Guitar Awards with O’Shea. During his time at The Academy, he worked with Amber Lawrence, Fanny Lumsden, Kasey Chambers, and Kevin Bennett. Aaron also co-wrote a song with seven-time Golden Guitar winner Allan Caswell. “I have spent years writing my own music,” he said. “But, I’m such a perfectionist that none of my songs were ever heard because I was scared of the reception they would get. Releasing Set Me On Fire and people’s reaction to it, had me in a state of euphoria. I have been listening to talented artists releasing their own material for so long and I need to pinch myself to believe that my song is being played on the same radio stations as the artists I look up to.” With his strong vocal abilities, 2013 and 2014 saw Aaron named a finalist in Today’s Country 94one Brand New Star Competition. His success in 2014 meant he was selected to join 10 other artists for a song workshop with country music artist Gina Jeffreys where he co-wrote a song with the star. Aaron’s influences weren’t always country music – he grew up in a small town in the Hunter Valley and soon found music to be an avenue to escape family struggles. Although largely influenced by his parents’ taste in popular rock music up until the age of 16, it was when he heard Brad Paisley’s Welcome to the Future, on CMC that his future musical path was set. Aaron realised he had found his niche and wanted to pursue a career in the country music industry. Since then he has broadened his influences to a range of American and Australian country music artists including Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and The McClymonts. “Since I heard that first song, I have felt drawn to country music,” he said. “It remains faithful to what music is supposed to be about: the storytelling, emotion, and real-life issues are all expressed and relatable in country music and it captures them in a way that very few other genres can.” With the release of three consecutive top 20 charting singles, Aaron is making his mark on the Australian country music industry with plans to release more original material to further cement his place in the genre. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/2bacr90stonow/message

During lockdown we have been taking the podcasts LIVE TO FACEBOOK to talk to artists and people in the industry as we all cope with this pandemic. Sasha McVeigh joins us live to talk about the effect on the music community of the devastating tornado in Nashville just weeks before the pandemic and nationwide lockdown and she plays us her CMT featured hit "Rock Bottom". Sasha McVeigh was born to be on the stage. The British singer/songwriter has been singing from the moment she could talk and performing from the moment she could walk. She garnered a love of country music from her father who, as she says “used to dance me around the coffee table to CMT” and her true flair for the genre came when she started writing songs at age 12. Being from the UK, Sasha spent a lot of time traveling back and forth to Nashville when she finished school in 2012; honing her craft, building a catalogue of original songs and playing back to back shows. In 2014, she was asked to perform for The Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, alongside Hunter Hayes and Cole Swindell. She has performed on the main stage at some of the biggest country music festivals in the US, including Country Stampede, Country Jam and Taste of Country Festival, with the likes of Eric Church, Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. Episode 184: Drama Teachers: Performing at an Out of Country Theatre Festival Middle school drama teacher Alyson Brown thinks travel is a vital part of her program. She and her students recently represented the USA at the World Festival of Children's Theatre in Japan. Listen in to hear about her experience traveling to the other side of the world with 55 people AND a production! Show Notes Clarke Drama Website Episode Transcript Welcome to the Drama Teacher Podcast brought to you by Theatrefolk – the Drama teacher resource company. Welcome to the Drama Teacher Podcast brought to you by Theatrefolk – the Drama Teacher Resource Company. I'm Lindsay Price. Hello! I hope you're well. Thanks for listening! This is Episode 184 and you can find any links to this episode in the show notes which are at Theatrefolk.com/episode184. Today, we're going on a little trip. You might want to pack a bag. It's going to be a big trip. We are going to the other side of the world. With us, we are taking Teacher Alyson Brown because she took her production of The Jungle Book to the World Festival of Children's Theatre in Japan. That's right – middle school students in Japan. Alyson travels regularly with her middle school students and I think that this is going to be an awesome conversation where we find out why and how. Well, we know the where – Japan – and we know who – Alyson and her middle school students – and what – a production. So, let's get into that. Why does she do it and how does she do it? Great questions! I know! It's like I wrote them! Let's get to it! LINDSAY: Hello everybody! I am here with Alyson Brown. Hello, Alyson! ALYSON: Hi! LINDSAY: First off, can you tell everybody where in the world you are? ALYSON: Well, I teach in Lexington, Massachusetts. I'm currently in Chelmsford. I live about twenty minutes out of Lexington and I teach at Lexington, Mass. at Clarke Middle School. LINDSAY: Awesome. How long have you been a teacher? ALYSON: Ha! LINDSAY: She says it with a laugh! ALYSON: I've been teaching at Clarke for 23 years. LINDSAY: Oh, wow! Wow! ALYSON: And, at middle school, I'm a full-time Drama teacher. LINDSAY: Wow! We're just going to segue just a little bit. You've been a full-time middle school Drama teacher for 23 years? ALYSON: Correct. LINDSAY: First of all, I think that's pretty awesome that not only was it available 23 years ago but that it maintains to this day. How has it changed for you? Is it still going strong? Have you gone through administrations that don't quite see eye to eye? How has it been 23 years later? ALYSON: Well, it's interesting. I replaced somebody who had been there for many, many years. So, they've had a full-time Drama teacher in my school. We have two middle schools in Lexington and both have full-time Drama teachers. Yes, you're right, I have gone through administrations that we don't see eye to eye. But my current administration are incredibly supportive. We are currently in the middle of a big renovation and they are building a Drama room just for me and I've been working with the architects and helping to design the space so that it works for my program. They're very supportive. LINDSAY: That's so exciting! What kind of spaces have you been working in to date? ALYSON: Well, it's a band/orchestra/drama room. It's been hard because, you know, drama tends to be messy when we're building shows, for example. So, then I have to move things out of the way so that band can have their practice. You know, music stands are everywhere and chairs are everywhere so it does make it challenging – the space itself. But the new space, I will have all to myself with storage there, too. LINDSAY: You must be, like, it's Christmas! ALYSON: It's so exciting. I get to pick out the furniture and I keep thinking, “They've got to realize I teach Drama,” you know?

Reaction from Coach Brennan
We are so glad you’ve joined us for another Inside Music Row! We’ve got plenty of news for you this week, so let’s get started! When Miranda Lambert released her “Platinum” album just before CMA Music Fest, she felt like she put her best music forward and kept the creative process fresh. That hard work in the studio has paid off, as “Platinum” took the top spot on the all-genre Billboard 200. She also became the very first country artist in the history of Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart to have each of her first five albums debut at number one. Each of her first four have now been certified platinum, so it shouldn’t be too long before “Platinum” is certified platinum, as well. Kellie Pickler is riding the resurgence of vinyl’s popularity with a re-release of her latest album “The Woman I Am.” The new limited-edition vinyl version of the project features exclusive cover art, which is different from the C-D version. Orders placed from Kellie Pickler dot com just started shipping, so make sure to get yours before they’re gone! Kimberly Perry has had a whirlwind of a month! Between fan club parties and CMA Music Fest, she still found time to tie the knot. She and her new husband pro baseball player J-P Arencibia were wed in Greenville, Tennessee right after CMA Music Fest between gigs and games. The second annual “Taste of Country” music festival proves there is a huge market for country music in the state of New York. More than 40-thousand fans crowded the Hunter Mountain Resort to hear the likes of Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Brantley Gilbert, and more. Next year could be even bigger, as Tim McGraw was just announced as the headliner for 20-15. For ticket info…check out Taste of Country Festival dot com. Craig Morgan is treating many of America’s troops stationed overseas to a little bit of Tennessee. Craig has teamed up with MoonPie to send over special packages of the Chocolate Double-Decker Moonpies with his likeness all over it. He took a few with him to Afghanistan on his eleventh overseas tour for the troops, but fans can get in on the action helping to send up to 50-thousand marshmallow sandwich treats to our service members by visiting Moonpie dot com slash Craig Morgan. Now it's time to go “Inside The Song.” Rachele Lynae’s new self-titled debut album is full of great tracks like the lead single “Touch The Stars.” We caught up with her to hear all about the Alaskan inspiration for that song. With this week’s Independence Day holiday, we have plenty to celebrate here in America. There are tons of artists out on the road, putting on incredible shows all over the world. Let’s take a quick look at who’s going where and when. It’s time for us to take a quick little break, but there is still a lot more music up ahead. We do have a special album up for grabs this week from Mickey Gilley. You’ll hear more from the original Urban Cowboy up ahead, but you may want to go ahead and enter this week’s drawing right now. Head on over to Inside Music Row dot com to get signed up. Don’t forget to check out Zuus dot com for all the best music videos. Celebrate the holiday with some great music, plus you can download the free app to take us with you on the go. Now for that break, but make sure to come on back right after this. We’ll celebrate a new number one hit, when we return.
