De overname blijft de gemoederen logischerwijs bezig houden en verdrijft het deplorabele voetbal van NAC naar de achtergrond. Kort wordt nog wel besproken dat NAC er alles aandoet om niet mee te hoeven doen aan de play-offs. In vier dagen tijd zette het zich eerst tegen Jong Ajax (0-0) en later Jong FC Utrecht (1-0) voor schut. Aankomende vrijdag komt VVV op bezoek in een Rat Verlegh Stadion dat tot de tanden toe bewapend zal zijn om de afkeer tegen City Football Group (CFG) te uiten.  Als een door CFG vooruitgeschoven pion laat Maaskant zijn licht schijnen over de overnamekandidaat die zoveel weerstand oproept. De Bredase trainer leidde NAC in 2009 naar de Europa League door de play-offs om Europees voetbal te winnen. Maar belangrijker in dit verhaal. In 2015 stond hij bij zijn terugkeer naar NAC aan de wieg van de latere samenwerking met Manchester City. Via zijn contacten kon NAC Divine Naah huren. John Newman is the savvy entrepreneur who pioneered the glory of theatre restaurant in Australia, with the establishment of the iconic Tikki & John's in Melbourne. The venue fast became an institution in the city and a haven for a stellar cast of performers. With wife Tikki Taylor, he founded an entertainment dynasty spawning further theatre dining experiences such as Dracula's, Cafe Crypt and Crazyhouse.John Newman is a Geelong boy whose parents were publicans. He was born to perform and garnered early experiences entertaining hotel guests. He joined the Geelong Musical Comedy Company, a flourishing amateur group whose members also included John's brother Bill, Ernie Bourne and Barry Crocker. His success in comic and singing roles with that company, prompted him to embark on show business as a profession.He joined an outfit calling itself, rather ambitiously The South Pacific Film and Television Company, which planned to hit the high spots with a grand tour of Victorian country areas. The variety show, in which John did comedy, magic and his impressions of Groucho Marx and other stars of the day, played Geelong, Colac and Camperdown. He was next a member of the Blind Institute Concert Party, which performed everywhere in Victoria in one - and - two night stands, raising money for the institute. John stayed with the unit for two years, and then he left to go into the chorus of the J. C. Williamson Song of Norway.The run of Song of Norway was followed by a revival of Annie Get Your Gun, with Evie Hayes and Hayes Gordon, and John then went into the chorus of South Pacific, where he met Joyce Taylor (Tikki),Tikki Taylor had studied dancing at the Jenny Brennan Academy and appeared on stage for the first time in a juvenile role in Blue Mountain Melody, an Australian musical which starred Cyril Ritchard and Madge Elliott. After pursuing a classical ballet career she joined J.C. Williamsons as a show dancer, her first show being The Desert Song with Max Oldaker. Then followed Rose Marie, White Horse Inn, No, No, Nanette, The Girl Friend, Follow The Girls and Oklahoma, in which she understudied three roles, eventually playing the lead comedienne, Ado Annie.John and Tikki combined both their professional and private lives working in the same shows. They formed an act and toured it through the U.K. for eighteen months with top Australian magician The Great Levant covering England, Scotland and Wales. After that, they toured the U.S. Army bases in Europe.Back in London they saw the latest American musical hit The Pajama Game, and John knew that Tikki would be perfect for the comedy-dancing role of Gladys Hotchkiss. They rushed back to Australia and with the support of choreographer Betty Pounder and stage director Ian Roberts, Tikki managed to persuade the JCW management that it was not necessary to import an American actress for the role. This seminal production embraced an all-Australian company including Toni Lamond, Jill Perryman and John's brother Bill Newman.John worked in the chorus of The Pajama Game and joined Tikki in subsequent productions of Can-Can, For Amusement Only and Grab Me A Gondola. Tikki and John raised a family, pursued television appearances and then Tikki made a comeback to the stage as Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly.Television claimed John for a while guided by the famous American entrepreneur Larry K. Nixon; then a stint as Victorian manager for NLT Productions, and producer of The Ray Taylor Show on ATV0 in its early days. John was later Company manager for the Moscow Circus before he and Tikki made their decision to go into the restaurant business.Tikki Taylor and John Newman had show business in their blood. Both were already entertaining as children. When they met and married, they changed the course of theatre history in Melbourne. Rikki loves soccer more than anything else. All he wants is a chance to play. But who would give a mouse a chance to play soccer?

We wrap up this shitty year with two VERY entertaining action films from the 90's that both feature the always-fun Robert Davi and also have plots that remind us VERY much of our favorite Christmas movie...a little flick called "Die Hard". We start off with "The Taking of Beverly Hills" from 1991, directed by Sidney J. Furie and starring Ken Wahl and Matt Frewer, with several good people in supporting roles. The plot revolves around a group of disgruntled cops who fake a chemical spill in Beverly Hills in order to rob the place blind. Lots of things are blown up, crushed and shot during the runtime and it's a ton of fun!  We follow it up with 1995's "No Contest" which stars Shannon Tweed and Andrew "Dice" Clay. This time, a beauty pageant is taken over by a group of VERY bad men who hold the contestants hostage and only the kicks and punches of a former winner can save them!  It is a very fun piece of fluff that delivers on every level. Neither of these movies are "good" on any defensible level, but they both left us all with huge grins on our faces and we recommend them. Tikki joined the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy after 13 years at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland as Director of its Research Policy & Cooperation department. In this capacity, he worked with countries to strengthen their national health research systems, developed mechanisms and initiatives to improve the efficiency and transparency of global health research, and helped formulate an Organization-wide research policy. After following a traditional academic career path in Malaysia, his experience at the WHO convinced him that the generation of knowledge must be accompanied by its translation and utilization, and the bridging of the ‘know-do' gap into effective and sustainable public policies in order to improve the health of humankind, especially in the developing world. In turn, and in order to ensure its effective implementation, effective public policies must exist in a climate of good global governance as health in a globalized world is increasingly becoming a trans-national issue which knows no borders. Tikki's main research and academic interests are in infectious diseases, the impact of genomics on public health, global health governance, national health research systems, knowledge translation, research transparency & accountability, and the use of evidence in health policy development. In these areas he has published more than 200 scientific articles and 12 books, edited volumes and reports. This includes several major WHO reports, includingGenomics and World Health (2002), the World Report on Knowledge for Better Health (2004) and a History of Research in WHO (2010). His involvement with the LKY School of Public Policy began in 2009 through the ST Lee Project on Global Health Governance. Tikki holds a BSC (Honours) and PhD degrees from the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia in the fields of biochemistry and microbiology/immunology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK), American Academy of Microbiology (USA), Institute of Biology (UK) and the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. He was the Founding Editor of Health Research Policy & Systems and the Asia-Pacific Journal of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.

In this episode, Rocky, Mayur, Abhinandan and Prashant visit the wild wild west of India: Uttar Pradesh. As the gang wonders where to begin, Rocky decides to go someplace that’s “done to death” and talks about why it still stands ground: Tunday Kababi in Lucknow. While Rocky, Abhinandan and Prashant cannot stop gushing over the delicious food, Mayur enlightens listeners about how the famous kebab place came to be. Rocky says Tunday has a taste that’s unmatched anywhere else in the world, which is what makes it the legend it is today. From Tunday Kababi, which was born at the behest of a king’s farmaaish, the group heads towards a present-day king, Nawab Jaafar Mir Abdullah’s royal kitchen. Here, apart from being fed some exquisite Raan Ke Kabab Musallam and Parche Kebab, the team learns, from the king himself, some important lessons on the respect that must be bestowed on food in verbal discourse. Lucknow is also home to Gyaan Vaishno Dhaba, which is famous for its home-style food, and Pandit Raja Thandai, credited with having served thandai to none other than Atal Bihari Vajpayee. They also attend a dangal, stuff themselves with sweets at Ram Asrey Sweets, and go on a quest to find the much-recommended Rahim Ki Nihari. Prashant steers the conversation towards Allahabad, where they eat a unique Matar ki Tikki at a dungeon of a place called Shukla Chaat. They remember the Besan ke Laddoo and chaat at the Lok Nath bazaar, and discuss why one must not miss the boat ride in the Sangam in Allahabad. Prashant talks about the mysticism and dichotomy of Banaras, and the group discuss how one needs to see through the dirt enveloping the city to discover the beauty beneath. Rocky and Mayur talk about their dip in the Ganga, which was filled with what they hoped was river mud (spoiler alert: it wasn’t). Rocky waxes eloquent on the magic of the indelible Babulal Kachori and how Swiss, Italian and Israeli food made its way to Banaras. They then head to Agra, the home of Panchhi Petha, a sweet made of dried pumpkin. Hurrying to cover as much conversational ground as they can, the team talks about Meerut and how the city with an extraordinary military presence is infamously lawless. The journey shifts gears and cuts across many more anecdotes from Mathura, Meerut, Agra, Benaras, and Bareilly. Lisa Hywood of Zimbabwe’s Tikki Hywood Foundation shares her philosophy and experiences in saving Africa’s wildlife.  “I said to him, ‘why are we counting elephants?’ and he replied, ‘cause you’re going to help move them.’   The day she counted elephants was the day that changed her life. She realized that if mankind has a common goal, a common purpose, then we can do anything in collaboration. Her mission in life after that day was to set up the Tikki Hywood Foundation (named after her late father). Furthermore, her focus is to save the lesser known animals. The pangolin is a scaly anteater mammal. Currently and sadly the pangolin is the most trafficked, poached mammal on the planet. The pangolin is being plucked from its natural environment and tortured. The ramifications of losing this animal are great. Tikki Hywood Foundation offers shelter and medical care for any animal brought to the center.  Lisa does not assign any animal as educational ambassador because ambassadorial animal equals commercialization.   There are many other avenues to create a better framework for educating people such as holograms, and other uses of technology. Lisa inspires us to be responsible for what we are doing; the space we are inhibiting; our waste factor. This set was recorded from listed's Tyrant on the Tikki party during Miami Ultra Week. The Tikki boat parties are consistently the best parties in Miami. That combined with opening for DJ legends Tyrant (Lee Burridge + Craig Richards) made this gig really special for me. The first half of the mix is pretty chill as the boat was sitting around the dock as people were boarding...An hour into it, the boat set sail and I picked up the pace for the kids to start dancing...
