Amy holds a BA in English Secondary Education from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY and a Master of Science in Higher Education from Walden University.About our Partner: Meet Squiz — a Student Experience Platform that offers a full suite of solutions developed exclusively for higher education. Squiz has so many exceptional products that are worth checking out, but the two I have been most impressed by are their custom site search product, Funnelback, and their Website platform, which is a true DXP — don't worry, I'll explain what this means momentarily. For the next wave of digital natives, search is not ancillary to navigation, it IS navigation. And Funnelback enables schools like yours to build custom, smart site search — so that your nursing program page actually comes up when someone searches “nursing” instead of that one nursing faculty event registration page from two years ago…And their DXP? It's so much more than a traditional Website CMS. A CMS is meant for exactly what it claims to be: content management. It's an important part of your martech stack and an important part of the student lifecycle. But that's just it: a part. A DXP (Digital Experience Platform) is built to be the hub of your martech stack. It relies on powerful integrations, data management, and an OPEN platform in order to create the kind of experiences simply not possible with just a CMS. (Or at least, impossible without a giant IT web team to support all of the APIs and constant upkeep.) Say goodbye to the finicky plug-ins of WordPress and the crappy site architecture of Drupal that hurts your SEO, and get ready to meet the fastest, most powerful, and personalized website platform for colleges and universities on the market.Today, the student experience begins online, not at school. And as an enrollment marketer, your job is to ensure that prospective students find what they are looking for as quickly as possible… Squiz is the secret friction-reducer that schools across the globe are using to not just attract the next generation of students, but nurture them to the point of enrollment in a way that is conducive — not counter to — how they consume information and make purchasing decisions. 79: Is Co-Leadership Right for Your Nonprofit? (Alicia Winckler & Alan Mather) SUMMARYWhat is Co-Leadership and how could it elevate your nonprofit to the proverbial next level? In episode #79 of the Path Podcast, I had a great conversation with Alicia Winckler and Alan Mather, two talented individual leaders who have embarked on a co-leadership model for the Chicago-based Golden Apple Foundation. By combining forces, they have not only strengthened a great organization addressing teacher shortages across their state, but are poised to expand well beyond Illinois. How would your board, staff and community respond to such a structure at your nonprofit? Alicia and Alan have great insight about how they got it started, why it works for them, and what characteristics are critical for an organization before it considers co-leadership. ABOUT ALICIA & ALANAlicia Winckler began consulting with The Golden Apple Foundation in late 2014, was selected as its first President and COO in 2017 and then selected as its President and CEO in late 2017. In 2018, she welcomed Alan to join her in co-leading the Foundation - with Alicia as CEO and Alan becoming President. Alicia led several substantial strategic initiatives at the Cabinet level of the nation’s third largest K-12 District - in Chicago Public Schools - and has been working in depth in education for more than a decade. She earned her M.A. in Industrial / Organizational Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver and B.S. in Psychology and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Studies from the University of South Dakota. Alan joined Golden Apple to lead the education work of the organization. A native of rural Indiana, he came to Chicago in 1986 to teach high school English in the Chicago Public Schools. After more than twelve years of teaching in neighborhood high schools, he joined the district’s first Principal Preparation program and became the first Assistant Principal at Northside College Prep High School. After six years, Alan was named the founding principal of Lindblom Math & Science Academy, where he grew a school of 110 students to more than 1200. In his ten years at the school, Lindblom became the top performing majority African-American school in Illinois. In 2014, Alan was awarded the inaugural Stanley C. Golder Award from Golden Apple for School Leadership. Alan earned a Bachelor's in Arts in English/Secondary Education from the University of Evansville in Indiana, and a Master's in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. My favorite color is blue. I like pralines ‘n’ cream ice cream. I’m on the church choir, but I really can’t sing. God bless my choir director and pastor. I was always a writer, but I wasn’t always into Christian Fiction. Poetry was actually my forte and my first love when it came to writing. I was born on a major holiday, which sucked as a kid, got progressively better as I grew up, and now it is just another day. I’ve always dreamed of becoming an author and now with confidence I can quote Matthew 6:33 which says that if we seek the kingdom of God first, and his righteousness, everything will be added unto us. If you want to know more about me send in your questions and if they’re not on the wild side I’ll certainly entertain you. If you’re looking for the traditional author’s bio scroll way, way down on the bottom for the polished version. Want more of me, my antics, and my Jesus? Then join me on Facebook and on Instrgram at NewNigeria. See you in cyberspace and hopefully face-to-face someday soon.
