He also shares practical steps for building meaningful mentorship relationships and training others to become mentors themselves. About Alan MatherAlan Mather is the President of the Golden Apple Foundation. In partnership with Alicia Winckler, the CEO, Alan leads the education work of the Foundation. Prior to coming to Golden Apple, Alan served in the Chicago Public Schools for more than 32 years, from classroom teacher to principal to a key member of the CEO and Chief Education Officer's cabinet--leading College and Career Success for the district. Born and raised in rural Southern Indiana, Alan hitchhiked up to Chicago after graduating from the University of Evansville in 1986 and has been working in the Chicago public schools ever since. Alan worked for 12 years as an English teacher, track and cross country coach before moving into administration after joining LAUNCH (Leadership and Urban Network for Chicago), the first principal preparation program in Chicago. His first administrative position was as the assistant principal at a new high school, Northside College Prep, which--in three years--became the top ranked high school in Illinois. In 2005, Alan was given the opportunity, as principal, to open Lindblom Math & Science Academy, a school that had once been top-tier but had declined. With the freedom, flexibility and support to create a high school, Alan hired all teachers, built a culture of excellence, and created an empowering climate. Since Alan opened Lindblom, it has become, according to the Sun-Times rankings, the top-performing majority AfricanAmerican school in Illinois and the only top 20-ranked school that has over 60% of its students on free/reduced lunch. He built the district's largest Mandarin program, the largest non-heritage Arabic program in the United States, and the district's first Biotechnology program in partnership with Baxter International and Northwestern University. Alan represented the Chicago Public Schools at Harvard University's PELP (Public Education Leadership Program), was an inaugural member of the College Board's Leadership Institute for Principals, has been part of Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management's “Leading Successful Schools” program, and was selected as one of two Chicago principals to participate in Columbia University's Cahn Fellows Distinguished Principals Program for the 2012-2013 school year at Teachers College. He was the first recipient of the Golden Apple Foundation's Stanley C. Golder Excellence in Leadership Award for Principals or Heads of School.About Alicia WincklerAlicia Winckler, Chief Executive Officer, began consulting with senior leadership and the Board of The Golden Apple Foundation in late 2014; was selected as its first President and Chief Operating Officer in January of 2017; and was selected as its President and Chief Executive Officer in October of 2017. In 2018, she welcomed Alan Mather to join her in coleading the Foundation - with Alicia as CEO and Alan becoming President. Josh Lindblom played seven seasons in the major leagues, but he credits a lot of his development as a player and a man to his time pitching in the Korean Baseball Organization. After being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round of the 2008 MLB Draft, he made stops with several major league teams. But he found immense success during his five seasons in the KBO. In 2019, he won the league's Most Valuable Player award and helped his Doosan Bears team win a Korean Series championship in 2019. In 2018 and 2019, he won the Choi Dong-won Award, the KBO's equivalent to the Cy Young Award, given to the league's best pitcher. Following his final stint in the KBO, where he proved to be one of the league's best players, he returned the major leagues to finish his career with the Milwaukee Brewers. He joins "Get in the Game" this week to talk about the highs and lows of his career, what led him to make the tough decision to play in the KBO and what he learned about God through all the changes of scenery in his career. We talk about Thrun's future if he starts on the Barracuda instead of the Sharks, and why this might be the case to start the year. And now the Miller interview (39:57)!Ryan Miller talks about his childhood, growing up for a few years, playing hockey, in Santa Clara (40:30) and how this actually began his journey as a goaltender. Ryan talks about how his dad was his coach and didn't want him to play goalie originally (41:45), but Ryan convinced him that goalie was the right decision. Ryan also talks about how he and his brother were actually some of the early petitioners for getting an NHL team in San Jose (42:38), heading door-to-door with pamphlets in the Bay Area.Ryan talks about his playing time with Buffalo, his time with Mike Grier as a player (43:25), as well as the rebuilding years in Buffalo when he first came into the league, and how it's similar to what's happening in San Jose (44:25). We ask Ryan who he thinks is the best American goaltender not named Ryan Miller (48:22)? Ryan talks about what is interesting about goalie development and what drew him to the job (49:35). Ryan talks about why he joined the Sharks specifically, and Grier's influence on that (52:25). We ask Ryan what he thinks Grier meant when he called Ryan 'analytical' regarding the goaltending position (54:25). What does Ryan think are the undervalued and overvalued aspects of scouting goaltending? (56:27)What would Ryan's style be if he were playing in today's NHL? (57:40)Finally, we ask Ryan what his scope regarding his scouting and development is going to be (1:00:05) and any impressions from training camp (1:00:58). On October 4,1978 the body of 16-year-old Krisann Baxter was found in North Spokane. She had been beaten, strangled and sexually assaulted. For decades, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office tried to catch a killer. There was no shortage of suspects, even confessions that were later ruled to be bogus. Nearly 45 years after the brutal crime, it was genetic genealogy and the company Othram who identified Keith D. Lindblom as their suspect. Lindblom died in a fire in 1981. His own family helped SCSO finally solve the case.

In this BJSM Podcast, we host Associate Professor Hanna Lindblom, who is a physiotherapist, researcher, and lecturer at Linkoping University in Sweden. We discuss Hanna's paper, which evaluated the preventive efficacy of an extended version of the Knee Control injury prevention exercise program compared with an adductor strength program in amateur adolescent and adult male and female football (soccer) players. Coaches and player representatives received a printed and digital program material, and a practical workshop to show them how to use the programs. The novelty of this trial is they also compared the extended Knee Control to a second comparison group; where the teams were where the teams already used a self-selected program and did not receive workshop or program material. Many of these comparison teams (50%) said they were self-using the old Knee Control program, providing a “real world” comparison and proven benefits of the Extended Knee Control program. Hanna has hands-on experience designing and delivering injury prevention in a range of sports and has some great advice for clinicians looking to implement Knee Control and similar programs in amateur sports settings. "Liberty is something that he feels, rather than what he does” ~Nadine Lindblom Horsemanship Breakthroughs Podcast Ep 47: Equine Veterinary Medicine & Liberty as a Mindset with Nadine Lindblom Nadine has worked closely with horses for the past 16 years. During this time, she has had the opportunity to learn from several fantastic trainers; however, she says the most profound lessons have been from the horses themselves! In 2020, Nadine graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours). Studying and working as an equine veterinarian has helped Nadine understand horses on an even deeper level! Nadine preaches that in order to have a horse that is willing and able to engage, connect and use expressive movement, he needs to be healthy and free from pain/discomfort and stress. Nadine believes it is important for horse owners to learn to recognize the subtle signs to be able to help their horse sooner rather than later. Therefore, Nadines work with horses which she calls the Balanced Art of Liberty also focuses on the pillars of equine health as well as training the eye to notice the small but critical changes in equine movement, posture and behaviour. In this episode, we discuss: Nadine's horse journey into liberty training and veterinary medicine Her background and experience with traditional riding, trick training, liberty training, natural horsemanship, and the academic art of riding Liberty training where the horse feels they have no choice vs allowing the horse to say no The use of non-escalating pressure and rewards in training How studying/practising as a vet has influenced the way Nadine works with horses Nadine's foundations for liberty training How to have a happy & enthusiastic horse The pros and cons of anthropomorphising All the usual fun Horsemanship Breakthroughs questions! Co-hosts David Gasper and Matt Carroll are joined this week by former Brewers pitcher Josh Lindblom. Josh announced his retirement earlier this offseason and he talks through his decision to retire, his last three years in the Brewers organization, funny stories from his career, mentoring the Brewers young prospects, and he makes a breaking news announcement about what's next for him in his career. David and Matt follow up the conversation with Lindblom by discussing the recent top prospects lists that have been announced and what's to come for the Brewers.
Brews and Tiny Teeth, The Unfiltered Pediatric Dentistry Podcast
Dr. Jon Lindblom is a pediatric dentist and practice owner from Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He's been a practice owner for 10+ years in his small hometown in Oklahoma, and enjoys the benefits of practicing in a busy and uncompetitive environment that a small town has to offer. He's a firm believer in reinvesting and becoming involved in your local community (he donated $50,000 to sponsor and build a disk golf course for his practice). We discuss what his practice is like, and also how he uses oral sedations with chloral hydrate to overcome the access barriers to traditional GA in a small town. Dr. Lindblom tells us about why he decided to sell his practice to MB2. For those that aren't aware, MB2 is a dental partnership company that purchases equity and buys out dental practices. In some ways it's similar to a DSO, but in many ways different. Dr. Lindblom really did his due diligence, and he tells us about the benefits of his partnership and why it was a good choice for him and his practice.
From 'Baseball Isn't Boring' (subscribe here): In his first interview since announcing his retirement, pitcher Josh Lindblom joins host Rob 'Bradfo' Bradford to reveal his thoughts behind the decision to hang up his cleats at just 35 years old and what led to the social media announcement. Lindblom offers fascinating insight into how his career evolved and lessons that can be learned from a career that went from second-round pick to key parts of significant trades to Korea to becoming a league MVP and, finally, re-entering the new world of Major League Baseball. It's a great look into the intricacies that go into living the life as a professional pitcher. The Sharks would play a good defensive opening period bouncing back from last night's defeat holding the Preds to 7 shots and no goals. At 14:24 of the First Period Luke Kunin would score on the Power Play on a crash play with Lindblom and Ferraro getting the assists. Unfortunately the Predators would score three times in the Second Period to erase the Sharks lead. Captain Couture would score his first of the season in the second but it would prove not enough. In the final frame the Sharks would place 15 shots on net to Nashville's 3 but could not solve Lankinen for a tying goal. The Sharks end the global series having lost both games and will open at the tank Friday the 14th. Check out Landi's and Ian's commentary on this edition of Teal Town After Dark. Josh has been married for 12 years to his high school sweetheart. They have four kids: Presley (9), Palmer (7), Monroe (5), and Murphy (1). Although baseball has taken them all over the world, their home base is in Lafayette, IN.A Quote From This Episode"I'm a work in progress, and I'm not where I want to be. But that doesn't mean that I stop working.""I've realized over this journey that academics provide you with the tool sets to ask better questions. And with the ability to ask better questions, come better answers - but better answers than beget more questions.""When I look at athlete transition, my entire focus has been shortening the bridge that I need to step across when I'm done playing.""I struggle because, in business, you hear about scale and breadth of impact. And I keep coming back to the depth of impact. Are we really making a difference in people's lives? "Resources Mentioned in This EpisodeBook: The Making of a Leader by J.
