This Flashback Friday is from episode 262, published last June 9, 2012. Countries around the globe are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, with our own country no exception. Jason Hartman interviews Dr. Kirk Elliot, Ph.D., investment adviser with ICA, on monetary and fiscal policy and the irresponsibility of governments around the world. Using Greece as an example, Dr. Elliott states that when governments run out of money, they start doing crazy things. The one fundamental issue in Greece is public debt, over which they lost their autonomy and are now under the rules of the EU. Italy, Iceland, Portugal, France and others are on the verge of bankruptcy and due to that, the EU has been unable to bail out Greece. Across the pond in the U.S., we have lost our credit rating and are losing the reserve currency status with a lack of interest in our Treasury bills and notes. The definition of inflation is an increase in the money supply, and price increases are a symptom of inflation. As more money is printed, it loses value and nobody wants it, which is sending the U.S. down the same tube as other countries in economic crisis. People around the world have lost faith in the U.S. dollar and the country's ability to repay its debt. Dr. Elliott says when interest rates go up, it will open a whole new can of worms with the bond market, which will come crashing down hard on retirees and insurance companies. But it's not all doom and gloom. There are counter-cyclical investment strategies that people should take advantage of that are attached to physical assets, such as precious metals and real estate investments (commodities with universal need.) Kirk Elliott has been an investment adviser with ICA in Durango, Colorado since January of 2002 and has been working in the financial services industry since 1994. Dr. Elliott is passionate about educating and equipping his clients with the information they need to safeguard their hard-earned assets. Dr. Elliott earned his Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. His dissertation is entitled, “An Empirical Identification of an Appropriate Inflation Definition and an Inflation Targeting Monetary Policy.” Dr. Elliott also earned a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Denver, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado. Nichole was born and raised in Iowa, moved around and found herself right back to where she started. She graduated from the University of Dubuque, earning a bachelor's degree in Aviation Management and Business minor. She then attended Walden University with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and a specialization in Forensics, accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). She was recognized for high honors, integrity, and academic success. She spent much of her graduate studies geared towards forensic profiling. She worked as an outpatient Mental Health Therapist, specializing in children and families with complex trauma. Let's just say she has become very comfortable asking the hard questions! Nichole grew up seeing spirits, a medium/channeler, so her world was never “normal” but that is just the way she likes it. She was trained under other mediums to get a handle on it. It became very intrusive at moments. She has worked with individuals and teams at undisclosed locations. Around 10 years ago She started independently researching. She became skilled in cryptology and steganography . Nichole had her1st encounter with a UFO in July 2017. MUFON investigated and measured the craft to have been 50 ft in diameter and she stood almost face to face with something that was so unbelievable it shook her very core. She remembers asking MUFON investigator David Kreiter if she would ever see another one… In December 2017 she had another major sighting and they increased and then the abductions began. She has experienced 3 types of ETs, strange markings, and hundreds of UFO sightings. Her life course was forever changed by her ET/UFO experiences. Nichole is determined to make the truth accessible to everyone! She believes the Experiencers Disclosure is happening and not at the hands of our government. She believes we are the Experiencers Disclosure & it is happening now! She believes the Experiencers hold the truth and we need to learn how to build a connection between source and consciousness.

“People need tools to help them put together a plan to care for their loved one. They also need to get really good at asking for help.” –Sammie StephensWe're not prepared to become the family caregiver for our parents. Yet so many of us are thrust into that role. How can we be more prepared? How do we handle this challenge?Sammie Stephens, an adult-geriatric nurse practitioner, who works with caretakers and has experienced that role herself, says it starts with conversations we aren't good at having. Often these happen as a result of an event, like someone breaking a hip.Caretakers need to set boundaries around their time and what they can do, especially because they are often juggle so many other things, including children, businesses and more. But often, what they need first, is a plan. Sammie helps us navigate both in this conversation. We talk about: what you need to have in place legally to be able to get medical information to advocate for your loved oneusing tools like CaringBridge to communicate what is going on and how people can helptaking care of your own health/body and using available resources so that the burden is not all on youplanning and budgeting for the cost of careadvance care planning and understanding what your loved one wantssetting boundaries, assessing needs, and building in self-careABOUT SAMMIESammie Stephens is an Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience inboth the clinical and administrative side of healthcare. She has a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from New Mexico State University. She is also a graduate of the Real Balance Global Wellness Coach training program. In 2015, Sammie established a health coaching program for a Level II Trauma hospital inWyoming. The program aimed to improve health and decrease burnout risk for employees. Thefollowing year, she played a key role in developing an integrative health clinic at the samehospital. The clinic focused on helping community members reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.More recently, she served as a Nurse Practitioner for seniors, providing compassionate care topatients in various locations including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, andprivate residences. Sometimes we don't act because we're emotionally stuck or because the change seems so huge. Change comes from action. Even a little shift can make a difference, especially when you keep making those micro shifts. Choose one of these doable changes that piques your interest or resonates with where you are — and roll with it. Here are three Doable Changes from this conversation:DEFINE BOUNDARIES. Maybe self care, isn't just the products and practices we use to make ourselves feel good, look youthful, and be our best selves. Maybe self care, is also learning how to not care so much about things that we can't go back and change. Worrying about things that haven't happened yet. When we hold on to negativity, and things we can't control - our body is keeping score. And to be honest sis....it's not that deep. Learn more about serial healthcare killers. Medically-assisted opioid-related overdoses have become major news items. Erin Laferriere got involved in such a case, the Mount Carmen/Dr. Husel litigation in 2020. Dr. Husel was charged with 14 counts of murder. The nurses involved were charged civilly with negligence and were reported to their respective nursing boards. Erin was involved with the civil cases. In the course of her investigation, she also learned about much more than the process of medically assisted death. What astonished her was the degree to which the nurses involved went along with the doctor. Some of that may have been due to the deference nurses often show physicians, but also a deeper issue was identified. Erin says: “Nurses are not going to report medical errors if they're going to be punished for it, whether it's their mistake or also somebody else's mistake. That fear of losing your license, your livelihood, your passion, your profession is a very real fear, and it's becoming more common in the post-pandemic era.” Pat supported this, that when she was in a clinical position, her director of nursing said that if a nurse reported three medication errors, she would lose her job. This podcast will not only give you useful information should you ever come across such a case, but it will make you think. When a hospital punishes nurses for doing the right thing, how can they expect an environment in which a patient's pharmaceutical needs are correctly administered? Join me in this episode of Serial Healthcare Killers - Erin Laferriere What are the correct protocols for a “Do not resuscitate” case? When should a nurse question a medication order? Why did these nurses not question the medication orders of Dr. Husel? What role did the punitive atmosphere in the hospital play in this tragedy? How did the pharmacists become involved in this?
