Nicky and Eric explore Possum Springs and uncover an unsettling mystery in an episode about Night in the Woods. Night in the Woods is a 2017 single-player adventure video game developed by Infinite Fall and published by Finji. The story follows a young woman named Mae Borowski, who drops out of college and returns to her hometown to find unexpected changes. Press Any Button hosts Nicky (a new gamer) and Eric (a lifetime gamer) are a married couple who both love video games. For every video game they will discuss its past (history of the game, developers story, and fun facts), present (game play, game review and strategy), and future (will there be a sequel?? A movie?) BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE… Every game also comes with a challenge presented by the host that chose the game. If the challenge is not completed then whoever failed has to do a video game rap! So if you want to learn more about video games, hear some nerdy video game raps, or just have a good time this is the podcast for you. We try to cover all types of video games including: Retro and New video games Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox, Sega, and PC games Any and all genres including RPG, Simulation, Beat em up, platforming, mystery, first person shooter, sandbox, puzzle, action adventure, etc. Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pressanybutton_podcast Credits: Nicky Smith Eric Luedtke Music by Mark Spurlock and Eric Luedtke References: https://www.gameinformer.com/2023/11/07/night-in-the-woods-follow-up-revenant-hill-canceled-due-to-developer-illness https://theglorysociety.com/ https://nightinthewoods.fandom.com/wiki/Longest_Night_(Game) https://nightinthewoods.fandom.com/wiki/Lost_Constellation https://web.archive.org/web/20131211184102/http://penny-arcade.com/report/article/the-goals-that-refused-to-stretch-why-night-in-the-woods-said-no-to-kicksta https://genius.com/The-world-inferno-friendship-society-a-night-in-the-woods-lyrics https://gamerant.com/night-in-the-woods-things-to-know-about-mae/ https://www.thegamer.com/angus-night-in-the-woods-trivia/ https://kotaku.com/night-woods-revenant-hill-canceled-2017-indie-goty-1850999850 http://www.nightinthewoods.com/ SONG LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTqo31YMEqI

fWotD Episode 2382: Tunic (video game).Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Sunday, 12 November 2023 is Tunic (video game).Tunic is a 2022 action-adventure game developed by Isometricorp Games and published by Finji. It is set in a ruined fantasy world, where the player controls an anthropomorphic fox on a journey to free a fox spirit trapped in a crystal. The player discovers the gameplay and setting by exploring and finding in-game pages of a manual that offers clues, drawings, and notes. The backstory is obscured; most text is given in a constructed writing system that the player is not expected to decipher. Tunic's isometric perspective hides numerous pathways and secrets.Designer Andrew Shouldice developed Tunic, his first major game, over seven years. He began work on it as a solo project in 2015, wanting to combine challenging gameplay with gentle visual and audio design. He was inspired by his childhood experiences playing Nintendo Entertainment System games like The Legend of Zelda (1986) and trying to understand game manuals for which he lacked context. Shouldice was joined during development by composers Terence Lee and Janice Kwan, audio designer Kevin Regamey, developer Eric Billingsley, and producer Felix Kramer. Publisher Finji joined the project in 2017 and announced Tunic at E3 2017.Tunic was released for macOS, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in March 2022, followed by ports for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in September. It received positive reviews, especially for its aesthetics, design, and gameplay, but drew some criticism for uneven difficulty and potential for players to feel stuck. Tunic won the Outstanding Achievement for an Independent Game award at the 26th Annual D. I. C. E. Awards, and the Artistic Achievement and Debut Game awards at the 19th British Academy Games Awards. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:58 UTC on Sunday, 12 November 2023.For the full current version of the article, see Tunic (video game) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Aria Neural.
This week we're talking to the co-founders of the game studio Finji, Rebekah & Adam Saltsman! Finji both develops their own games and publishes other games from indie creators. Even if you haven't heard the name "Finji", you've definitely heard of the games they've put out: Night in the Woods, Tunic, Chicory, and Canabalt to name a few! Naturally there's a lot to discuss on how Adam & Rebekah supplement each other's skillsets, balancing both development and publishing, and what makes Finji's library so unique and cohesive. Music from Ben Kyo too! LINKS:
If you give a dog a paintbrush… Art Class is on the menu for this episode of 1H1D! The “Surprise Me” button has chosen the indie adventure game developed by Greg Lobanov and published by Finji, and thus our hosts must spend an hour exploring the colorful title. This may not be the first game where Tom and Chris need to bring color back to a desaturated world, but it is the first one starring a dog with an oversized paintbrush. With that key feature in mind, it will be interesting to see how the game's painting mechanics handle on a controller. If that makes you curious or you have other questions about this cute indie game… press play to hear Tom and Chris discuss their favorite foods and why that may not be the best option when naming your dog! What if Link was a cute fox? At first glance TUNIC looks like a beautiful spiritual successor to THE LEGEND OF ZELDA franchise, but as lead developer Andrew Shouldice shares with us in this interview, it also embraces modern "souls-like" gameplay. TUNIC is filled with lots and lots of secrets, the game was at one time called Secret Legend, and Shouldice said it's all about capturing that feeling of playing a game in the pre-internet Nintendo era where a game feels like limitless exploration. Developed by Andrew Shouldice and published by Finji, Tunic is a plucky, silent, Pixar-style little fantasy adventure that absolutely kicked Cam's ass. In our first ever discussion of fantasy games, we break down the magic of Tunic and all it has to say about the genre. How is worldbuilding achieved? How are tangential side quests and lore handled? How is atmosphere developed? There's a lot to dig into here - tropes are celebrated, Dark Souls comparisons are made, and we find out that Maggie is the only host who is any good at boss battles. On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Meowster Chief is officially in Halo Infinite! IGN spoke with Rebekah Saltsman at Finji, the publishers behind Chicory: A Colorful Tale and Tunic, on Indie Game becoming absurdly expensive to make. IGN exclusive reveal of Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Forgotten Myths, Dark Horse's latest comic book spinoff, is a follow-up to Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory, a book which acted as a direct prequel to the main game. This story, however, is specifically a prequel to the upcoming DLC expansion Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok, which thrusts main protagonist Eivor into the mythological realm of Svartalfheim to live out the exploits of the Norse gods. In short, this isn't your typical Assassin's Creed adventure. Ghost of Christmas Present Narz has all that in your Daily Fix!
