To get the conversational juices flowing (eew!), they talk about the games they are currently playing: Project Zomboid and Cult of the Lamb. Upon becoming adequately lubricated (again… eew!), they talk about the definition of the word intelligence and the “types” of intelligences. Along with the excessive use of the word dry, other topics of conversation this week include: IQ tests, Mensa meetings, college culture, robot baristas, AI artists, goldfish driving cars, grown brain cells playing Pong, and the game Spore by Maxis. 00:00:21 - “We are your hosts for the Two Vague Podcast this week,” and Cheyenne's absence 00:01:45 - Project Zomboid by The Indie Stone, a post-apocalyptic SIMS 2, and your COD 00:05:50 - Cult of the Lamb by Massive Monster, and 9 out of 10 doctors recommend… 00:11:28 - A nebulous topic, the definition, a gum condition, and a little dip in the 1900s 00:13:58 - The 9 types of intelligence, our fathers, drinking bleach, and walking into walls 00:17:40 - Intelligence Quotient, Mensa meetings, memory, and knowledge retention 00:22:48 - Changing the (college) academic culture, staying in school, and new experiences 00:25:50 - Splitting hairs, Cheyenne crystalizes, Ben's attorney, and college degrees 00:28:18 - Artificial intelligence, building robots, computers with feelings, and sentience 00:31:25 - The hypothetical barista, sex robots, and AI communication methods 00:35:20 - Training robot baristas, the moisture content of cappuccinos, and probing questions 00:40:02 - 77 Snickers bars, an AI designing its own body, and fears about automation 00:42:59 - An AI winning an art contest, Ben's fair pun, and programs being “creative” 00:46:21 - Rules for casual art contests, abstract concepts, and DALL-E's diversity problems 00:49:05 - Cheyenne's “Non-binary person in cornfield” as “imagined” by WOMBO's dream AI 00:51:22 - Teaching goldfish how to drive, and Ben's imagined future of taxicabs 00:53:50 - Teaching grown mouse and human brain cells how to play Pong (badly) 00:57:26 - Biological computers, augmenting the human brain, and remembering stuff 01:02:25 - Rotting brains, developing skills, dopamine, and games that teach 01:06:21 - Cheyenne explains the game Spore developed by Maxis and released in 2008 01:10:15 - Ben and Cheyenne have different opinions about messing around with asteroids 01:12:59 - Closing thoughts on the word intelligence Note: The “Non-binary person in cornfield” image from the episode artwork was created (by Cheyenne) using WOMBO's dream AI. Cuidado que este Cult of the Lamb engancha a traición. Finalizamos como cada entrega con el reto itch.io y dándoos las gracias por ponerle un par de orejas a nuestro programa. Más dentro de 15 días, mientras tanto, ¡ponedle play! Jk_eye, Travol y RodoR

It's an adaptation of the popular tabletop game, and Callum tells us what it takes to make the work as a video game and handling player expectations. 2020 is officially the final year of Adobe Flash (formerly Shockwave Flash) and that means a lot of those games you might have grown up playing or developers started their careers making might be gone for good. With projects like Flashpoint saving over 36,000 games we discuss the legacy of the flash game, and you tell us why how much you loved Neopets. Jay Armstrong is Design Director at Massive Monster and joins us to talk about their latest project Never Give Up the action side scroller featuring fast paced gameplay a progressive player controlled difficulty management and violent traps. There is also a narrator that gives "encouragement" as you die, and die and die again... We also talk the wobbly future loot boxes with random with randomly rolled rewards. With Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft gearing up with new policies to make the disclosure of loot box mandatory this could be the end of the contentious micro transactions. There are still a few missteps though as games like Apex Legends try to have the best of both worlds, but fans weren't happy. On this week's episode, Massive Monster co-founder and a key developer behind the recently released The Adventure Pals, Jay Armstrong, joins host Josiah Renaudin to discuss how to make your 2D platformer shine in a crowded market. Jay explains how The Adventure Pals came together, knowing when to scrap major portions of your game, appealing to younger audiences, balancing challenge with fun, how to create memorable boss fights, and developing games on the Nintendo Switch.
Whether you're Team Godzilla or Team King Kong, we have you covered in this massive monsters episode of Daily Dead's official podcast. Co-hosts Scott Drebit, Derek Anderson, and Jonathan James gather around the microphones to discuss colossal creatures from films and TV series that they enjoyed watching in their childhoods (from 1933's King Kong to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), as well as the super-sized creature features that roar atop their lists of personal favorites. The trio also share their thoughts on recent massive monster movies, including the fierce kaiju of Pacific Rim, the radioactive horrors of Shin Godzilla, and the interconnected Cloverfield franchise. As Stacker Pentecost would say, "We're canceling the apocalypse," so sit back, relax, and enjoy the roars and rumbles on a new episode of the Corpse Club podcast!
Julian Wilton from Sydney and Jay Armstrong from the UK are from Massive Monster, creators of The Adventure Pals. We spoke about working together despite the distance between them and merging two iconic gaming genres into one. For years Steam Greenlight has been the number one way that indie developers could get their ideas out there, generate interest and build an audience. But after 5 years of service it is being shut down and Stream Direct , it's replacement will launch on the 13th of June. But is this going to make it harder or easier for indie developers to make a name for themselves? Finally we take a look at your “right to repair” with DIY repairs and third party tools so easy to come by these days it can be very tempting to order what you need online and attempt a fix on your broken gaming hardware. However an End-user Licence Agreement might stop you from using your console after you've repaired it. However a recent ruling by the US supreme court now has the potential to shake up this idea. What would it take for this to happen in Australia? And would this mean you can do whatever you like to your console? You can find us on social media, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, YouTube and Steam. Just search for "pixelsift"!
