Bill Fenlon, the winningest head coach in DePauw University men's basketball history amassed 585 wins, 6 NCAA Tournament appearances, and 7 conference championships in 37 seasons overall as a collegiate head coach including 30 at DePauw. Fenlon previously coached seven seasons as a head coach at Sewanee, Rose-Hulman, and Southwestern University (Texas). He retired in 2022 as the 4th winningest active coach in Division 3.Fenlon was recognized as the 2021 Jack Bennett Award recipient which is presented annually to a non-Division I head coach who achieves success on the basketball court, while displaying great moral integrity off of the court as well.Fenlon's impact has been felt beyond the student-athletes he's coached as he has annually led student teams to Belfast, Northern Ireland to work with PeacePlayers International on conflict resolution and peace initiatives.As a player, Bill earned three letters as a member of the Northwestern Wildcats basketball team. Prior to joining the staff at St. Leo, Ludwig was a varsity head coach at IMG Academy during the 2023-2024 season. Ludwig previously served six seasons as the head coach at NAIA Peru State College in Nebraska. Kelly Flynn built a girls basketball dynasty at South Sioux City, ruling Class B for more than a decade, winning 11 state championships – 10 in the 11 years from 1995 to 2005. The Cardinals finished second in 1999. Flynn coached at South Sioux City for 27 years, piling up 508 career wins and 17 state tournament appearances. The Cardinals were nationally ranked for eight years, earning a No. 1 ranking in USA Today in 2001. Flynn was named national Coach of the Year in 2012 and was a national Coach of the Year runner-up in 2003. He coached in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American Game in 2003 in Atlanta and the McDonald's All-American Game in 2005 in Indiana.Flynn finished his career at Fremont High School where he guided the Tigers to 98 wins and the school's first Class A championship in 2022. Scott Fitch has been the head boys basketball coach at Fairport High School in New York since 2001. Fitch has been honored five times as the Monroe County Coach of the Year, twice as the Section V Coach of the Year and twice All-Greater Rochester Coach of the Year. He led his team to back-to-back Section V Championships in 2006 and 2007 and to the state final four in 2007. In 2016-17, Fitch led Fairport to a 22-2 record, a section title and the state championship game.Coach Fitch has also been deeply involved with USA Basketball. He has served as a court coach and assistant coach for various junior national team events and minicamps as well as a head coach for the USA Nike Hoop Summit. Scott was an assistant coach for the gold-medal-winning 2018 USA Men's U17 World Cup Team and 2017 USA Men's U16 National Team.As a player at State University of New York at Geneseo, Fitch was the 1994 NCAA Division III National Player of the Year, a 1993 and 1994 DIII All-America first-team selection, a four-time All-Eastern College Athletic Conference first-team member and the ECAC Player of the Year in 1993 and 1994. He played professionally for a brief time and currently works at Jostens where he specializes in class rings. He also speaks to students all over the country about leadership and social media. Kevin Sutton is the Technical Director of Basketball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Sutton spent last season as an assistant coach at Kansas State University. He previously served as an assistant coach at Florida Gulf Coast, Rhode Island, Georgetown, George Washington, James Madison and Old Dominion.Sutton has also had three different stints coaching for USA Basketball. He was an assistant coach for two years at the Hoop Festival for the East, helping the Junior Developmental Team (U16) win gold at the FIBA Americas Tournament in Argentina. He also was the head coach for the Nike/USA Basketball Hoop Summit, which showcased the top 10 international players against the top 10 U.S. players. In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Sutton coached at five nationally-ranked high school programs – Flint Hill Prep (1988-90), Harker Prep (1990-92), St. John's Prospect Hall (1992-98), Montrose Christian and Montverde Academy (2004-11) – amassing a 489-102 record and winning two national championships. Sutton has built a reputation of being an outstanding teacher of the game of basketball, helping more than 130 student-athletes earn college scholarships at all levels. Maco Hamilton is in his 11th season as the head men's basketball coach for George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Kevin Broderick is in his 15th season as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Nazareth University in Rochester, New York and his 28th overall as a college head coach amassing a 448-269 (.625) overall record through 27 seasons.Broderick previously was the head coach at Oswego for 13 seasons where he coached the Lakers to eight straight winning seasons.Broderick's coaching experience includes two seasons as an assistant coach at Canisius College and one season each as an assistant at Genesee Community College, LeMoyne College and Nazareth. At Canisius from 1994 through 1996, Broderick worked under the direction of former Nazareth head coach John Beilein, who has had several Division I coaching stints, most recently at the University of Michigan. As a player, Broderick was a four-year member of Nazareth's basketball team and was team captain as a senior in 1988-89. As the team's starting point guard for two seasons, Broderick averaged 7.7 and 8.4 assists per game for his last two seasons. He ranks third all-time in career assists at Nazareth with 460. Jim Brown served as an assistant, associate, and head coach for the Wright State men's basketball team for 27 years. He was an assistant coach under head coach John Ross, Wright State's first coach, and continued in that role with head coaches Marcus Jackson and Ralph Underhill, becoming associate head coach in 1993. He then was appointed head coach for the 1996-97 season. During his time with the Raiders, the program moved from high school gyms, to the PE Building to the Nutter Center and from a Division II independent to a member of the Horizon League and Division I. After leaving Wright State, Brown was the head boys' varsity basketball coach at Northmont High School in Clayton, Ohio for 16 years.Jim currently works alongside Chris Collins, calling Wright State Men's Basketball Games on Radio.If you're looking to improve your coaching please consider joining the Hoop Heads Mentorship Program.
