Mallory sits down with Santhana Naidu, VP of Marketing and Communications at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, live at the AMA Conference. Together, they explore the transformative role of AI in higher education marketing, from enhancing team efficiency to fostering creativity. Santhana shares actionable insights on navigating resource constraints and adopting AI tools for strategic advantage. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting your AI journey, this conversation offers invaluable takeaways.Key TakeawaysEmbrace AI for Efficiency: AI can alleviate workload by automating repetitive tasks, enabling teams to focus on creativity and strategy.Leadership is Key: Leaders must invest time in understanding AI to guide their teams effectively.Transparency Matters: Educating stakeholders about AI's use and benefits is crucial for institutional buy-in.Empower Teams: Encourage staff to experiment with AI tools and share insights, fostering a culture of innovation.Leverage Resources: Collaborate with internal and external experts to expand your understanding of AI applications. What Makes AI a Game-Changer in Higher Education Marketing?Santhana highlights AI's potential to transform higher education marketing by increasing productivity and personalizing user experiences. For institutions with resource constraints, AI can automate routine tasks and reduce burnout among teams. By focusing on efficiency, tools like ChatGPT and Apple AI help marketing teams streamline their operations while maintaining creativity and innovation. He emphasizes the importance of leaders investing time in learning AI to overcome skepticism and drive adoption. This approach not only empowers teams but also ensures alignment with institutional goals. How Can Teams Integrate AI Without Fear of Job Loss?Santhana addresses common concerns about AI and job displacement by reframing AI as an enabler rather than a threat. In under-resourced environments, AI helps teams achieve more without overworking staff. By automating mundane tasks, team members have more bandwidth for strategic and creative projects. This leads to a more engaged, balanced workforce and better results for the institution. He also shares an example from Rose-Hulman's summer retreat, where team members explored AI tools to enhance their workflows. Such initiatives demonstrate how AI can inspire collaboration and continuous learning within teams. What Advice Does Santhana Offer for Leaders Starting Their AI Journey?Santhana recommends two key strategies for leaders looking to adopt AI:Empower Teams: Give staff the freedom to explore AI tools and report back on their usefulness. This hands-on approach fosters innovation and builds confidence.Foster Transparency: Share how AI is being used with stakeholders to alleviate concerns and build trust. Highlighting ethical usage and clear benefits helps secure buy-in from leadership. He also stresses the value of tapping into existing resources, such as internal experts or academic courses, to build institutional expertise in AI. - - - -Connect With Our Co-Hosts:Mallory Willsea https://www.linkedin.com/in/mallorywillsea/https://twitter.com/mallorywillseaSeth Odell https://www.linkedin.com/in/sethodell/https://twitter.com/sethodellAbout The Enrollify Podcast Network:The Higher Ed Pulse is a part of the Enrollify Podcast Network. Welcome to Episode 111 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball. It's time to talk about the Central region AKA Region 7, previewing all the favorites in each conference. In order: CCIW (at 1:25) North Central (IL) looks to bounce back with another loaded squad after an injury-plagued 2022 Augustana is going to Florida two different times?! and also looks pretty damn good, especially on the mound Millikin should be solid again, we trust this program HCAC (at 14:30) Earlham are the defending champs and also one of our new favorite teams for understandable reasons Franklin should be good again but have some elite talent to replace Rose-Hulman and Transylvania should be competing in a very balanced middle of this conference NACC (at 29:15) Aurora continues to mystify us in some ways but we think they'll be pretty awesome again Benedictine has some good pieces back, including a big HR threat MSOE looks to defend their title with some elite pitching SLIAC (at 42:30) Webster is as good a regional bet as any in all of D-III and now looks more offense-heavy than pitching for the first time in a while UAA (at 55:37) It was tough to follow the 2021 World Series team but we're hoping (and believing) the 2022 campaign was just a down year for the WashU Bears We conclude (at 1:02:20) with our player and pitcher of the year picks, and our teams to beat. In a week where some of us didn't really expect any upsets, instead we got a couple of big ones, where Loras got two shots at a last-second field goal to beat Central, and Case throttled Washington & Jefferson's offense. Plus, two of this week's No. 1 votes went to unlikely places. Why did Hardin-Simmons get a No. 1 vote, and why does it not really actually matter? We talk with Albion coach Dustin Beurer after his team won handily at Rose-Hulman on Saturday to improve to 3-0. He tells us he had one big takeaway from last year's playoff loss to UW-La Crosse, and what his players had to do to get better, and it may not be what you would expect. He talks about that, the backup who is now leading them for the near future, and how he keeps the tradition of the Britons' 1994 national title alive for his players, in our Fast Five segment. Albion broke through into the Top 25 this week, but can the Britons break through and win a playoff game this year? Plus, are pass breakups the new assists? What actually happened at quarterback for Hobart in Week 2? Pat and Greg talk about key stories from each region. Look at the bottom of this page to see all the teams listed. That's who we talk about in this podcast, and probably more. Fan question in our mailbag from Brock Reisler @brockreisler: Is the ARC Wartburg's league to lose now? Does yesterday's Loras/Central say more about the Duhawks or Dutch? #d3fb Is this a breakthrough game for Loras? Or does this talk more about Central? Pat Coleman and Greg Thomas talk about it all in the latest D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast. The D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast is a regular conversation covering the wide range of Division III football. The post ATN Podcast 311: Breaking through to the other side? appeared first on D3football.com » D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast.

Welcome to Episode 86 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball. First (at 1:00) we shoutout Pacific Lutheran as the standouts of the opening weekend. Next (at 2:15) we make a very important announcement -- er, clarification -- about our "D-III College Gameday" idea that we tweeted about. Then (at 5:00) it's time to talk about the Central and the changes to the region from last season before previewing all the favorites by conference. In order: CCIW (at 7:00) North Central (IL) got screwed last year being left out of the postseason and are now super duper loaded and ready to come back better than ever Augustana had maybe the quietest 35-win season in D-III history and should be very good again Millikin actually won this conference last year and have a good amount back to defend their title HCAC (at 23:20) Transylvania has an elite two-way player in Trent Youngblood but has a ton of other offense to replace Franklin used to hit a bajillion homers a year but those guys are gone now Rose-Hulman is gonna be trending back up soon with new head coach Adam Rosen NACC (at 32:00) Let's talk about Aurora for 10 minutes because we have A LOT OF THOUGHTS Benedictine could definitely challenge the Spartans, though We'd love to see Concordia-Chicago get back in the mix SLIAC (at 45:55) Webster looks strong as always but will have to replace the legendary Matt Mulhearn on the bump; their SOS is completely ridiculous, mad respect UAA (at 58:18) Jake's WashU Bears are definitely going to be good again but most of the World Series team is gone so there are going to be a ton of new faces We conclude (at 1:06:20) with our player and pitcher of the year picks, and our teams to beat. Then we say goodbye. Follow us on Twitter @d3baseballpod (DMs are open if you want to reach us there) and @CespedesBBQ. Warren Mickens is a native of Gary, Indiana, and a product of its public school system. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Indiana's Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard University. His MBA focused on Operations and Strategy, not Finance. He has enjoyed a host of challenging career experiences. Warren began his career as an engineer at Cummins Engine Company and was later the Director of the Worldwide Government Business. Warren transitioned to the telecommunications industry in the 1990s and has held several Operations and Engineering Roles since. Warren became interested in investing in the late 1980s for two reasons: 1) He was scammed by a former work acquaintance who had become a financial manager. 2) He became a father of two sons and concerns over the costs of college education and retirement seemed overwhelming. Warren's family did not have a background with financial resources. His father died unexpectedly leaving four children aged 3-16 behind when Warren was in third grade. He rolled up his sleeves and joined an investment club and decided to learn about investing. He learned a lot. It worked. Warren is active as a trustee at Rose-Hulman. Welcome to Episode 71 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball. This is our fifth of eight regional preview pods -- this one covers the Mideast region and its five conferences. Before we begin, we quickly discuss the weekend that was in D3, the status of the SCIAC, and shoutout North Central (IL) for their no-no. Then we get down to business: AMCC (at 7:00) La Roche has their longtime head coach back and plenty of talent as always, but will need some young pitching to step up if they want to dominate this conference as usual HCAC (at 11:25) Franklin has proved capable of competing against better teams and appear primed to win this conference again The HCAC is probably a bit underrated, with Anderson, Transylvania, Rose-Hulman, and Earlham all capable of having strong seasons MIAA (at 17:00) Adrian has almost all of their seniors back for #Year5 and two of the best pitchers in the entire country; is this the year they finally go on a super deep run? There is Hope...for the Dutchmen to make some noise in this conference as well NCAC (at 26:00) Wooster still has plenty of top-tier talent but enters the season with far more inexperience than normal Denison has some key players back for #Year5 and a fearsome lineup, but will need some of the younger pitching to step up DePauw and Wittenberg could definitely make some noise as well OAC (at 40:30) Heidelberg has some of their 2019 World Series contributors back for #Year5, which should help them continue to contend Baldwin Wallace looks to have a pretty loaded lineup but a very young pitching staff Otterbein, John Carroll, Mount Union, Ohio Northern will surely all be in the mix as well Uh oh...is Marietta back? PAC (at 59:10) Washington & Jefferson shouldn't have any trouble in this conference -- we'll see if they can make another World Series run UAA (at 1:04:05) Case Western won't be able to play their usual insanely tough schedule but are still making the most of the difficult and unique situation We concluded (at 1:08:00) with a few other notable player shout outs, our player and pitcher of the year picks for the region, and our teams to beat. In this episode we calk to Coach Nick Davis who is the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He talks about his experience and moving up the ranks as a college coach.
Today my guests are Nancy and Terry Metheny. Terry and Nancy were parents of a very good friend of mine from high school. I spent a lot of time at the Metheny house when I was in high school. They also helped coached Academic teams I was a part of. Nancy and Terry have been married for 43 years -- they have five children and 18 grandchildren -- and having observed them over the years I can tell you they are deeply connected to their kids and so proud of them. They're long-time Hoosiers. Terry studied mechanical engineering at Rose-Hulman and worked at Eli Lilly for 39 years. Nancy went to BYU; stayed home with their children for 20 years and then went back to work as a high school English teacher for 20 years. Both Nancy and Terry retired two years ago. They're devoted members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: as part of that lay ministry, Terry served as bishop of their local congregation for 12 years. Church service is a vital part of their lives. They're travelers. Terry enjoys reading, gardening and golf; I enjoy crossword puzzles, homemaking, and entertaining. Although we've been connected over the years, and Facebook friends over the years -- this conversation is the first significant conversation we've have had since I was in high school, or perhaps early in my collegiate career. The Methenys made a big investment in my life -- and I would say they believed in me. They thought I was capable of great things. If you've been listening to this podcast for a while you probably know there's a tinge of fear that perhaps I have disappointed them. Maybe they expected more from me. But I have no doubt that they're going to give me some perspective today. Things that struck me in this interview: 1. The numbers 20/20. I knew Nancy as a stay-at-home mom. She was getting back into teaching right around the time I was going to college. But in my mind she was always a stay-at-home mom. Doing this interview, I realized as long as she'd done that, she'd had a whole 20 year teaching career afterwards. 2. Terry talked about wanting balance. That was his value and he arranged his life accordingly. But he suggested that maybe some people don't value balance as much. He was open to the idea that balance is not the ultimate value. It was just his value. 3. This long view of success and life building that they hold, in part because of their faith. 4. What I saw when they were 40-ish (as a 17 or 18 year old kid hanging out at their house) vs. the challenges they struggled with. They struggled as parents and they lived paycheck-to-paycheck.
Welcome to Episode 63 of The Podcast About Division III Baseball. This is our eighth of eight regional preview pods -- this one covers the Mideast region and its four conferences. Topics include: AMCC La Roche (at 2:00) returns their entire pitching staff as they try to win a 7th consecutive conference title HCAC Franklin (at 5:15) proved capable of competing with the big boys in the regional last year, but have a ton of arms to replace The HCAC always has a competitive middle of the pack, including (at 9:15) Rose-Hulman, Anderson, Transylvania, and Earlham MIAA Adrian (at 10:45) is super mega-loaded, perhaps as much as ever, but will still need to prove it come regional season Hope (at 15:15) had a gaudy win total last year thanks to a poor SOS, but there's real talent present NCAC Wooster (at 19:55) will continue to be known for their elite offense featuring two All-Americans, but their success will depend on the development of their young pitchers Denison (at 25:05) returns almost every starter in an excellent lineup, but will need to replace some key arms OAC Heidelberg (at 29:15) returns a healthy portion of their World Series team from a year ago Baldwin Wallace (at 34:15) gets a potential All-American back in their lineup, but the offense may need more than that to score enough to compete Obviously this conference could go in any direction, as teams like (at 38:15) Otterbein, John Carroll, Ohio Northern, Mount Union, and even Marietta are capable of reaching the conference tourney and making some noise PAC Washington & Jefferson (at 43:35) is fresh off their second World Series appearance in three years -- probably time to stop doubting them UAA Case Western (at 45:00) is playing another crazy schedule, so don't be surprised if they get in again at-large with 22 wins! We concluded (at 50:30) with a few other notable player shout outs, our player and pitcher of the year picks for the region, and our teams to beat. Then we say goodbye. Thanks for listening!
