"I think that's actually why New Age is so dangerous, because there's so much about it that are counterfeits of the restored gospel. There's so much about it that feels true and sounds true, you can convince yourself it is true because it's a bunch of truth mixed with lies. It's a counterfeit of part of the restored gospel. I think that's why a lot of LDS women seem to gravitate towards it because it's so similar to what they already know and feel. That's what makes counterfeits so dangerous is that they look like the real thing. Even meditation is not bad, I think the highest form of meditation is prayer. What is prayer if it's not meditating with God? Do you want to spend this 20 minutes meditating with yourself and just opening your mind up to whatever? Or do you want to spend that 20 minutes meditating with God in prayer, which is something you already have? And then there's energy healing, but where does the healing come from? These people don't have the priesthood they're not getting it from Christ. So where is that coming from?" In this episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Kelsea Cannon, a former pelvic floor physical therapy specialist who now helps women navigate perimenopause and reconnect with their bodies' innate wisdom. I have also had the pleasure of meeting her in person twice this year, which inspired us for this podcast interview to happen! In Tropical Human Design Kelsea is a Projector and in True Sidereal she is a Manifesting Generator. Kelsea shared her inspiring journey from traditional healthcare to a more intuitive, holistic approach to women's health. We discussed how Human Design played a significant role in validating her unconventional path, both personally and professionally. This led us to explore the importance of trusting one's intuition in health and business decisions, a theme that resonated throughout our conversation. One of the fascinating aspects of Kelsea's work is how she balances practical strategies with energy healing in women's health, especially during perimenopause. We delved into the parallels between entrepreneurship and women's health, highlighting the value of experimentation and self-trust in both areas. Kelsea emphasized the importance of slowing down and listening to one's body, particularly when making important decisions. One of our most asked questions is: How do I stop stress eating? We have the answer! But we also have the anti-answer. Confused? Stress eating is absolutely a behavior that we can exhibit in an unbalanced way, but it's also NOT an unnatural behavior or something that makes you broken. Guess what..turning to food as a form of comfort or joy is completely NORMAL! Let's identify our individual feelings instead of putting them all in the stress bucket. Only then can we use our tools to deal with them instead of reaching for that bag of chips every time.  Are you stressed? Or are you bored, or sad, or angry or anxious? You can plan for these emotions and respond with go-to tools. Food can certainly help but don't let it be your only response. And there are several players in this game: gender, genetics, social conditioning, metabolism, gut health, to name a few. So stop blaming your willpower! It's not that simple. Our special guest, Eileen Hittle joined our Fitness Programming by CVG Facebook group in 2018. She thinks she found CVG by chance but Kelsea calls it fate. At the time, Eileen had a two month old baby and she was struggling with the changes in her body and her self-esteem was low. Six years later she is in a very different place, thanks to her resolve but also to the many other women in the group who lifted her up and gave her the support she needed. It's been quite an incredible journey! Eileen talks candidly on harmful messaging in her teens and the relationship between eating and control.
