Dan's first of two tales covers the lore and supposed paranormal encounters associated with Dublin, Ireland's St. Michan's Church and the dead bodies that reside in the crypts beneath it. Then, we'll venture over Lake Pleasant, New York, and learn about some rumored murders associated with one of the town's founding fathers and the hauntings associated with those deaths. Lynze offers us three different tales this week. Her first is sad and sweet, a tale of a life taken to soon but possibly still here. Then, how strange would it be if strangers outside of your apartment could see a ghost in your home but you couldn't? Lastly, does watching horror flicks at home make you, your family and your personal space more susceptible to spirits moving in with you? What a crazy idea! Troy Hayes, Water Services Director for the City of Phoenix, Arizona, shares insights into the city's water treatment and distribution system. Phoenix operates five water treatment plants, with two in North Phoenix (Union Hills and Lake Pleasant) utilizing Colorado River water delivered by the Central Arizona Project (CAP), while three central plants treat Salt River Project (SRP) water. CAP water can also be redirected to any plant during maintenance or drought. Troy details the city's treatment process, robust water quality monitoring, and its 6,000-mile interconnected pipe system, which delivers an average of 264 million gallons of water daily. Deliveries are adjusted monthly to meet customer demand, influenced by factors such as weather, tourism, and usage patterns. Podcast Recorded on January 23, 2025

In the late 1870's, non-Indian settlers of Forks Prairie came by way of rivers and trails from the Pacific and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, as the overland route from the east was nearly impenetrable forest. Trails were the main means of travel for early settlers along the coast and in the interior Olympic Peninsula. The life of a settler was tedious. "Proving up" on their homestead claims was a primary goal since improvements were required within a specified number of years. Hunting and fishing were often pursued in fall and winter months to supplement the homesteaders' gardens and livestock. Hay, oats, grain, fruit and vegetables grew well on the prairie. The first dairy cows were brought in by schooner in 1870 via Neah Bay by Luther Ford.Though it was a center of commerce, growth came slowly to Forks. A post office was established in 1884. A newspaper was started in 1890, and the town was laid out in 1912 on a homestead - remaining barely a block of buildings into the 1920s. Electricity came in 1923, and the first bank in 1930. And, the town did not incorporate until August 7, 1945.Before 1900, timber in the West End was mostly cleared by settlers and small-time loggers using ox teams. Companies logged at Clallam Bay and Port Crescent on the strait in the 1870s. Timber baron Michael Earles, later developer of the first Soleduck hot springs resort, set up booming logging camps at the turn of the century at Crescent Bay and went along the strait - and many settlers from Forks worked in these camps. Merrill & Ring would begin to log in the Pysht River drainage northwest of Forks in 1916. World War 1 and its urgent demand for airplane spruce brought the West End into focus for its stands of Sitka spruce among the largest in the Hoko River drainage north of Forks. In 1918 the U.S. Army built 36 miles of railroad track from Port Angeles west to Lake Pleasant. This staged large-scale logging in the West End. Disasters proved an unlikely road to Forks' boom years in the 1970s, when the town earned its reputation as "Logging Capital of the World" - through the '21 Blow, the Great Forks Fire in 1951 and the Columbus Day Storm of 1962. In the 1970's you could "make a couple of calls and have a good job" in the woods. The town's population doubled to over 3,000 that decade from a remote collection of farming homesteads into a booming timber town. Our museum offers a look into the rich history of homesteading, farming and logging in the Pacific Northwest, presented in a log cabin structure built by talented local volunteers and the High School Carpentry Class of 1989. Come share this rich history with us and help to preserve the memory of those who have gone before us. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/loren-alberts/message

What happens when billionaires take a daring dive into the depths of the ocean and tragedy strikes? Join us, Bosco Pearson, Sterling, and Chris, as we unravel the chilling details of a mysterious submarine disaster off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada , exploring the lives of the people on board and the controller navigating the vessel from the surface.Weighing in on the dangers and risks associated with deep-sea exploration, we can't help but wonder who would dare to take a submarine into uncharted territory. From the depths of Lake Pleasant, Arizona to the Titanic's final resting place, we examine whether it's even possible to survive the extreme pressure found 2.5 miles down in the ocean. We also delve into our own fears and experiences of swimming in the vast unknown, pondering the most dangerous endeavors we would undertake for $250,000.Finally, we tackle the morbid fascination with the Titanic and the irony of paying a quarter-million dollars to visit an ocean tragedy, only to become one yourself. Discussing alternative methods of viewing the wreckage, such as marine cameras and modified video game controllers, we explore the fears, risks, and fascination of deep-sea exploration. Don't miss out on this enthralling episode as we dive headfirst into the murky depths of the ocean's darkest mysteries. Thanks for listening to the Nobody's Talking Podcast. Join in as owners Nick Kelley and Dustin Westby sit down to tell us all about Arizona's newest brewery and their grand opening coming up on February 11th. Enjoy!

Well… Today was supposed to be the day that I was going to embark on my first Ultraman Triathlon experience. Rightfully the race was postponed until November because of the ongoing Coronavirus shit show… The Ultraman event includes a 6.2-mile swim in Lake Pleasant & 90-mile bike day one, a 170-mile bike day 2, and a double marathon 52.4-mile run for day 3. Although I have trained specifically for this event since December, much like the triathlon across the country, training for a 3-day endurance extravaganza like this has been centered around a lifestyle predicated on a long lung-busting (no coronavirus pun intended) and mind rolling sessions as opposed to a specific training regimen. So often we do everything we can to cram before the big test and cause ourselves all sorts of anxiety in doing so... We spend much of our lives procrastinating, then go full bore ahead in a panicked attempt to make up for our self-admitted and recognized laziness. When I was in school and when I first got into endurance sports, this was my basic M.O. Yet, if there is one thing that I learned from playing Major League Baseball, it is that accumulated workload over the years is what will always put us in the best position to succeed... Sure, there were days when I would literally hit until my hands bled in search of my swing but the consistency of my work is what ultimately got me to the big leagues and allowed me to stay there. So, as I eventually embark on this arduous journey, I will entrust not in my last minute “fuck I haven't swum enough” 10k swim session I did the other day before they cancelled the race, but rather I will draw upon the accumulated body of work over the past 9 years that will lead me to the start line of this ball buster. Obviously, life can and will throw us nasty curveballs when we least expect it… Yet so long as we are willing to get in the batter's box, our experiences, good, bad and ugly will give us the confidence to face the MOMENT OF TRUTH, whenever it arrives.

This 15 Min Fill Up was recorded after a 60 ft scuba dive at Lake Pleasant with some new heros of mine. I learned how to scuba dive with the Diving Devil Dogs of Arizona, an non-profit organization, that supports veterans getting scuba certified and creating healthy coping skills and strategies in transitioning home and thriving after their service has been fulfilled. I faced so many personal fears with men who have given me the gift of my freedom to scuba for fun and not survival. It was breathtaking to dive into chilly waters with men who have faced far more treacherous conditions. Seeing them smile after also diving past their comfort zone was an experience I will never forget. In this episode, I am bringing you the heart of Jimmy Richardson of the Diving Devil Dogs SoCal Chapter. He led this weekend's mission and brought his vets to new territory safely and while even having a little fun! He shares what it is like to dive into your heart and the hearts of others to talk about what is really going on and how to build a community of communication. This week on Slasher Radio we dive into the story behind the underwater Jason Voorhees statue in Lake Pleasant, Arizona! We were joined by its creator, Zachary Nagy, who rounded up some fellow divers from the Arizona Scuba Diving community to plant Jason at the bottom of Lake Pleasant. The crew took great care in the construction of the statue ensuring that all materials used were environmentally friendly. After the intriguing underwater creation was discovered by many divers, the story went viral. Once the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department caught wind of the news, they immediately disapproved and criticized the statue claiming it was against park rules as being "trash" or "obnoxious material". Officials are actively searching for the Jason Voorhees statue in order to discard of it completely. We've pledged a petition against the decision and are taking a stand with Zach in favor of keeping this piece of art submerged as it does not raise any cause for concern for the public or divers. The underwater Jason Voorhees statue was not only made with great consideration for the environment but was a labor or love for the character and genre. Stand with us and Zach to help get our voices heard! Ready to get better results from your marketing efforts, than you need to know what kind of results you're getting now. I'm sitting down with Brandy Lawson to talk about Google Anaylitcs. We break down how to get REAL information from this tool, and what steps you're skipping to make the most it. A little about Brandy... Brandy Lawson is a digital marketing expert, technology catalyst and founder of TekGrl. Technology can work for your business in ways you never knew possible, and she can't wait to show you how. But like shoes, there isn't a one-size-fits-all. Her approach is to take a holistic look at your business and goals before recommending the perfect fit technology you should be strutting your stuff in. Brandy is a mom, a wife and entrepreneurship runs in her family. In her past "corporate" life she was a product director for Go Daddy and several other companies. In college, she was the only marketing major who took a C++ class, and it was that experience that helped her find her home at the intersection of marketing and technology. Gadgets and shoes are her weaknesses. She's all girl and all geek. When not solving business challenges with ingenious tech you might find her hosting a WordPress meetup, boating on Lake Pleasant or speaking at events. Music has always been my first love. It speaks to me louder than anything else, and I respond ten times louder. My name is Ashley Wineland, I'm 16 years old and live in Arizona. I'm a lover of all music, but my musical roots lie within country. The story-telling and feeling behind every country song is what draws me towards this genre. As a singer who writes all her own material, it's always a blast coming up with new ways to tell my stories and even creating new ones.My journey that lead me to where I am today began a little over a year and a half ago. I was so blessed to have met my amazing producer Bryan Kuban. At that point in time I hadn't started writing yet, but I knew I wanted to learn how. It was then that Bryan took me under his wing. It was after my first ‘lesson' with him that I wrote my first song ‘Red White and Blue'. It was a crazy yet exhilarating experience learning all the work and people that go into making one song. I was so lucky to be very involved in the whole experience. After several studio sessions, late nights and naps in the back of my pick up truck.Things from that point on have blossomed into amazing things. After the release of ‘Red White and Blue', I began to get involved in a lot of charity work for our veterans and their families. 100% of the proceeds from the song ‘Red White and Blue' have and still go towards incredible charities like Pets for Patriots and Parents of a Son or Daughter in the Military. I have had the honor of doing news interviews with channel 5 and 3 here in Arizona, station 96.3 real country, and I even got an episode on the upcoming show ‘I Want to be Nashville's Next Star, which will be airing in March, to vouch for this cause. I could not be more thankful for all the work our serving and retired service men and women do for us.I just finished up my new album ‘Family Business' that's being released in March. It contains all of my original songs! I love all the different flavors that this album has created. In some songs like the title song ‘Family Business' my southern rock roots come out, but other songs like ‘Change' bring out a country/dance feel to the album. I will be out with the band performing starting around February, and I will be doing acoustic sets too. When I'm not spending time doing music, I'm pretty much on the move. I enjoy hobbies like reading and scrap-booking, but I also love being outdoors. Over my summers you'll find me at Lake Pleasant water skiing and tubing. The rest of the year I love doing activities like hiking, go-cart racing and especially paint balling.I am a girl of many loves and I am self-motivated and goal oriented to succeed in everything I do.
