Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective therapeutic models to help people move through negative emotion and create long term change in the way they think, feel and behave in their lives. Today, I'm showing you how you can use the powerful concepts behind Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in parenting. You'll Learn:Why Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is such a powerful toolHow your thoughts affect the way you show up as a parentHow to feel less triggered by your kid's behaviorSome of my favorite tools and strategies for seeing your child in a more positive lightA big part of CALM (the first step in my 4-step Calm Mama Process) is calming yourself when your nervous system gets activated. But I want to take it a step further. I want to help you learn how to not get activated in the first place. Imagine if you were able to stay in your calm state of mind and not get triggered by your kid's behavior. How cool would that be?! ---------------------------What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?Cognitive (or cognition) is just a fancy word for thinking. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) teaches strategies to think differently so that you act differently. It was created in the 1960s by a psychiatrist named Aaron Beck when he realized that there are three separate parts of cognition. Automatic thoughts - Default thoughts that come from how we were raised and what we've learned from societyCognitive distortions - “Thought errors” where our thoughts can be extreme or untrueUnderlying beliefs - Core beliefs we have about ourselves and the world, which guide our point of view but may or may not be true for usCBT invites you to examine your thinking so that your beliefs help you show up the way you want to. The coaching model that I use is based in cognitive behavior therapy. The idea is that something happens (a circumstance) >> I have a thought about what happened >> That thought creates a feeling >> I act on that feeling. Basically, your thoughts and feelings create how you show up for your kid (and the rest of your life). I don't know about you, but I want to show up as a parent that feels confident and hopeful for my children. I want them to be able to borrow my belief in them when they're struggling to believe in themselves. This is possible for all of us, but there are some patterns that might get in your way. Common Thought Errors in ParentingThere are several common ways we can get caught up in thought errors or cognitive distortions. Negative thought bias. A viewpoint that the world is not so great. My kid's behavior isn't good. That's just the way it is. You expect that things will go wrong.Whether you have a positive or negative outlook, no matter what thoughts you are thinking, your brain will find evidence to prove you right. Some people naturally have a more negative outlook, while others will have an easier time thinking more positively. Either way, you can train your brain to look for the good more often. Black-and-white thinking. Viewing a behavior or your kid as good OR bad. Watch for all-or-nothing or extreme kinds of thoughts. Try to notice what is actually happening right now without projecting it into the past or future. Focusing on the negative more than the positive. Let's say you went on a family vacation that was mostly good, but there were a few negative experiences. When a friend asks you how your trip was, will you say it was mostly good or that it was a disaster? If you...

This title, A Time for Resolution - Healing the Quantum Field, was channeled. In jotting down the topic for this episode, these words clairaudiently sounded loudly in my mind. After looking into the definition or Resolution, it can be defined as: the passing of a voice part from a dissonant to a consonant tone or the progression of a chord from dissonance to consonance merriam-webster.comAnd isn't that a perfect understanding of my experience? In healing past lives, I was working in the quantum field, a truth of all realities and bringing dissonance energies into consonance energy. In this episode I share about a recent healing session where multiple past lives came up for healing, how I recognized the energy in my life before the healing, during and after. I talk about aspects of the integration process and my new emotions around death.Topics Include:Clairvoyantly seeing myself in past life timesSoul retrievalDaily experiences anchored in past livesListening to your soul and messages from your bodyYour soul-level understanding and experiences versus present day experiencesEmotional body accessing information Exercises to release energy The biggest physical and energetic differences noticed since my healingAspects of the integration processHeart expansion compared to soul retrieval of LightA life of separation and labelingExperiencing the death sceneLoving of sadnessWhat does self care during integration look like Judgement compared to discernmentLike and subscribe to be notified of future episodes. Scripture Reading: John 1:1-5It's only session 2 and we already fell behind! I intended to cover John's prologue in the first session, but I planned too much material and didn't get to it. (Apologies!) The questions I posed in the first blog post will still be our guide to discussing the text. So, if you haven't read that post, you might do so. I will try to post some additional notes on this second blog post. There's a small catch though: I have limited time every night. I will have to update this blog post several times throughout the week. Hopefully by Saturday there is a complete set of notes. Chiastic Structure in John 1:1-2I don't know about you, but other than some vague recollection about Shakespeare's iambic pentameter, I do not remember a lot of literary structures. Well, we need to refresh our memories just a bit.A chiasm is a figure of speech in which the grammar of one phrase is inverted in the following phrase, such that two key concepts from the original phrase reappear in the second phrase in inverted order. Here's an example:She is the most beautiful woman, my eyes cannot stop staring. My sight won't leave her, she is such a gorgeous girl.Notice (other than my awful poetry):A She is the most beautiful woman, B my eyes cannot stop staring. B' My sight won't leave her,A' she is such a gorgeous girl. Now, notice that John 1:1-2 has a chiastic structure as well:A In the beginning B was C the word D and the word E was F with God F' and God E' was D' the word (this seems out of order, but think in Greek) C' This one B' wasA' in the beginning with God.The chiastic structure is not exact, but neither were the parallelisms of the Psalms and other Semitic poetry. What does a chiastic structure suggest? Scholars will sometimes consider whether John adapted a song or poem that was popular at the time (“borrowing” in the ancient world was not frowned upon like today). Regardless of whether that is the case, I think what is more important is how deliberate the first two verses are. The literary structure gives them beauty and depth, while making them easy to remember. These verses are masterful in content and structure and should be taken seriously (and probably memorized). In the BeginningGenesis 1:1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.John 1:1-3. In the beginning was the Word . . . . All things were created by Him . . . .The allusion to Genesis 1:1 is unmistakable, particularly since John 1:3 goes on to talk about creation.John's point is groundbreaking: remember all that creation talk in the Torah? Well, none of that happened without Jesus. Moreover, in the beginning God is there. He does not come into existence, he is not born, he is not made, He Is.Exodus 3:11-14. Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, or that I should bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” He replied, “Surely I will be with you, and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: When you bring the people out of Egypt, you and they will serve God at this mountain.” Moses said to God, “If I go to the Israelites and tell them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, ‘What is his name?'—what should I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM that I AM.” And he said, “You must say this to the Israelites, ‘I AM has sent me to you.'”There are some astounding conclusions: God exists “asei.” Indeed, God is necessary.Asseity (from gotquestions.org): The aseity of God is His attribute of independent self-existence. God is the uncaused Cause, the uncreated Creator. He is the source of all things, the One who originated everything and who sustains everything that exists. The aseity of God means that He is the One in whom all other things find their source, existence, and continuance.Necessity (from reasonablefaith.org): When we say that God is metaphysically necessary, we mean that it is impossible that He fail to exist. These attributes of God are also evident from natural theology.Consider Leibniz' question: Why is there something rather than nothing? This is a good introductory video to the contingency argument (which the video calls a cosmological argument). Not only can you go into much further depth into the argument, but some versions of it do not rely on the principle of sufficient reason or at least use a more modest version. Also consider modern cosmology: The universe seems to have a beginning. The following argument can be made:(1) Anything that begins to exist has a cause.(2) The universe began to exist.(3) The universe has a cause. Wisdom (Sofia), Torah (Nomos), or even Better—the Word (Logos)Why did John use the word Logos? Sometimes considering the alternatives can be enlightening.John could have used the word Wisdom (Sofia). Nearly everything John says about the Logos, Jewish literature said about divine Wisdom. John and his readers would have shared a common understanding of this background. Using Wisdom, however, may have caused some issues.(1) Sofia is feminine. Although the gender of a word is nothing more than an accident, switching from feminine wisdom to an incarnate male could be awkward.(2) The fact that Wisdom was already being personified, both in the Old Testament and contemporary Jewish writings, provided a common understanding—but what if that understanding is not completely correct when applied to Jesus. Consider Proverbs 8.Proverbs 8:1-7Does not wisdom call out?Does not understanding raise her voice? At the top of the prominent places along the way,at the intersection of the paths she has taken her stand;beside the gates opening into the city,at the entrance of the doorways she cries out:“To you, O people, I call out,and my voice calls to all mankind. You who are naive, discern wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment!Listen, for I will speak excellent things, and my lips will utter what is right. For my mouth speaks truth, and my lips hate wickedness.Sounds pretty good, right? But then comes verse 22:The Lord created me as the beginning of his works, before his deeds of long ago.By the way, I believe the entire Bible is good. I am not saying that verse 22 is bad—it just doesn't apply to Jesus. Calling Jesus the Sofia could have caused confusion.John could have used the word Law (Nomos). Nomos was the Greek word used by Hellenistic Jews to refer to the Torah. Torah, like Wisdom, was commonly personified. Torah was spoken of as being involved in creation, as either being the first creation or eternal, and as being associated with life, light, and truth. So why not use Nomos:(1) Nomos may not be the best translation of Torah into Greek. Many scholars agree that the word limited the understanding of Torah only to law and not to the greater concept of revelation.(2) The personification of wisdom was more common than of Torah. By choosing neither Sofia nor Nomos, John's audience could pull from the personification of both. (3) Logos refers not only to the Torah, but to the Word that the Torah talks about. An example would be Isaiah 40:8. “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” (NIV)Truly, using the word Logos is brilliant. Consider how much the Pharisees cared for the Torah:As Craig Keener points out: The relatively popular Pharisees and their successors were particularly known for their study of the Law. Tannaim emphasized lifelong study of Torah. A Torah scroll could be said to be "beyond price." Some declared study of Torah the Bible's point in saying "serve the Lord with all one's heart and soul"; other Tannaitic texts attribute the exile to neglect of Torah, or declare it better never to have been born than to be unable to recite words of Torah, or declare one who does not study worthy of death; or declare that Torah study is a greater role than priesthood or kingship.By using Logos, John makes Christ greater than Moses, greater than Torah, greater than all—Jesus is the supreme revelation. Hence those who claimed to love Torah but hated Jesus were blind or hypocrites. That is a recurring theme of John's gospel. The Word as Life and LightJohn 1:4-5. In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. And the light shines on in the darkness, but the darkness has not mastered it.LifeTranslators' Note 8 in the NET Bible explains in part: John uses ζωή (zōē) 36 times: 17 times it occurs with αἰώνιος (aiōnios), and in the remaining occurrences outside the prologue it is clear from context that “eternal” life is meant. The two uses in 1:4, if they do not refer to “eternal” life, would be the only exceptions. (Also 1 John uses ζωή 13 times, always of “eternal” life.)LightA figurative use of light is frequent in the Old Testament (e.g., Ps 119:105), and it was common in Jewish sources. However, it was the Dead Sea Scrolls that finally convinced scholars that John's use of light and darkness was not gnostic in origin.Craig Keener points out: [Verse 5] introduces the light/darkness dualism of the rest of the Gospel. Both light (1:4, 5, 7, 8, 9; 3:19, 20, 21; 5:35; 8:12; 9:5; 11:9, 10; 12:35, 36, 46) and day (9:4), darkness (1:5; 3:19; 8:12; 12:35, 46) and night (9:4; 11:10) appear regularly throughout the Gospel, sometimes even with symbolic significance in the narratives (e.g., 3:2; 13:30; 19:39; perhaps 6:19).DarknessDid the darkness not overcome or not comprehend light? The Greek word katelaben in verse 5 could be translated either way.Consider Cyril of Alexandria: Darkness he calls the nature that lacks illumination, i. e. the whole originate nature. . . . For this, I suppose, is the meaning of The darkness comprehended it not. For the Word of God shineth upon all things that are receptive of His Irradiance, and illumineth without exception things that have a nature receptive of illumining. But He is unknown of the darkness. For that which is the rational nature upon earth, I mean man, served the creature more than the Creator: it comprehended not the Light, for it knew not the Creator, the Fountain of wisdom, the beginning of understanding, the root of sense. (https://www.tertullian.org/fathers/cyril_on_john_01_book1.htm)But also consider Origen and other Greek church fathers who understood katelaben as overtake. My personal view is that this is an intentional and profound double entendre. Imagine I liked a girl and her best friend told me, “Forget it. She doesn't like you, in any sense of the word.” In that sentence, the word “like” means she does not like me romantically or as a friend, at the same time. In the same sense, katelaben can mean the darkness neither understood nor overcame the light, at the same time.God is Fully RevealedIn the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Chapter Two, Article I, Subsection III: III. Christ Jesus—“Mediator and Fullness of All Revelation”God has said everything in his Word“In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son.” (Heb 1:1-2) Christ, the Son of God made man, is the Father's one, perfect, and unsurpassable Word. In him he has said everything; there will be no other word than this one. St. John of the Cross, among others, commented strikingly on Hebrews 1:1-2:In giving us his Son, his only Word (for he possesses no other), he spoke everything to us at once in this sole Word—and he has no more to say... because what he spoke before to the prophets in parts, he has now spoken all at once by giving us the All Who is His Son. Any person questioning God or desiring some vision or revelation would be guilty not only of foolish behavior but also of offending him, by not fixing his eyes upon Christ and by living with the desire for some other novelty. There will be no further RevelationSession Recording

In this special edition of Talk with Erin Stock, I share a very personal story about my 16 year old niece, Jaydynn, and what it was like to have to say good-bye to her just a few weeks ago. I share my most cherished memory, the timeline of finding out how she passed, a few emotional moments that I will never forget and how my family wants to ensure her legacy lives on. I also share information provided by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on the dangers and warnings about the drug Fentanyl. While I understand that this podcast may not be for everyone, and it may be tough to listen to, the Fentanyl pandemic is real. I believe in the power of education and believe that there is no better time than now to start being more proactive with educating yourself and teaching your students/children about how lethal and easily accessible illegal drugs have and will continue to become. It only takes #halfofapill or less to take the life of someone you love. I encourage you to listen, learn and share this episode with those you know. Turning Season: News & Conversations on Our Adventure Toward a Life-Sustaining Society
Raise your hand (or, better yet, leave a comment on the show notes, so I can see it too) if you've ever dreamt of a political figure you strongly dislike. When they showed up in dream-form, how did you engage with them? When dreamers have shared dreams of political figures who were the object of anger or disgust, I've seen transformative shifts in perspective unfold. In this episode, my guest Cythera Wilkerson (another acupuncturist and dreamworker! yes!) talks about, for example, dreaming of Trump, and discovering the connection between feelings toward him, and feelings from childhood. This type of realization is one of the things I value most about dreamwork, on the personal and the collective level: when we are more aware, more clear, and less clouded by reactivity or trauma, we're available to take more wise, heart-ful action in the world. I highlight that moment in this conversation because, in the very near future, I'm expanding this podcast to include much more than dreamwork. Along with dreamworkers, I'll be including guests doing all kinds of work that contribute to The Great Turning of human society toward a life-sustaining way of being on the planet. I share a little more about that in the intro to this episode, and there's much more to come. Click Play to hear about it, and to hear me and Cythera explore:Being simultaneously drawn to and resistant to dreams, which are a place of “darkness,” where we haven't yet shone lightA powerful dream of Cythera's, about smoke and an obstacle in the road, in connection with a transformational process she was in around addictionHow she turns the energy wrapped up in suffering (or anger or sadness about suffering) toward energy for healingDropping into what Classical Chinese Medicine calls the “yuan level” by speaking about dreams (I know her descriptions of the body levels will strike a chord for someone!)Healing by letting our bodies respond to dream imagesUndesirable characters and bathroom dreamsHow she's seeing yin and yang and the Five Elements in dreamsand how when we find what we need ourselves, we can offer that as medicine.Cythera Wilkerson is an acupuncturist and bodyworker who incorporates the world of dreams and the exploration of the personal myth into treatments. She has a Masters in Oriental Medicine and has been active in a dreamwork training through the Haden Institute that opened up a whole new world of healing. She practices in her beloved Appalachian mountains at Medicine of the Heart. Cythera honors the work of the divine feminine, which is subtle, body-focused, and slow. She feels that in our fast-paced society it is a space that we and our earth are desperately asking for us to honor. It's so fulfilling to connect with Cythera and her beautiful work, and I hope you'll be filled by this conversation too. Man’s Response to God’s LightJohn 1:4-5, 9-13 December 22, 2019Introduction:A. I remember a number of years ago walking into a dark house at night to do somework. I had been there many times before and the path was always clear to thelight switch, which was not by the door but on the other side of the room. Istarted a brisk walk over to the light switch and bam – I not only stumbled but Iwent flying over something I could not see, something a worker had put thereduring the day.B. Christmas is all about the time that God turned on his light switch for thisspiritually dark world. When Jesus was born the world received the light itneeded to see just what this world was really all about, to see what really is true inthis world and to see just what the creator of this whole world knew that manneeded to know to have an abundant life here on earth.1. Before Jesus was born John the Baptist’s father, said this about Jesus whowas soon to be born – Luke 1:78-792. I could have used a light that night to guide my feet in that room and eachone of us needs the light that comes from God to guide our feet in this darkworld.3. Jesus is that light and at the birth of Jesus, a great light came into a world thatwas in deep spiritual darkness!C. Turn in your Bibles, on your phones, Bibles on chairs, and share with someone toJohn 1:1 where we will read this story of Jesus coming into the world as God’slight.1. As I read I want you to note two things:a) Jesus – called the Word here - God’s perfect message to the world is thetrue light from Godb) Also note the way man responded to this light – watch for two differentresponses2. Read v1-12• Let’s start by looking at this idea thatI. Jesus, God’s light, came into a dark worldA. Light allows us to see. In Scripture light is associated with seeing, with knowingand with moral and spiritual power that is healthy.1. Often when someone does not know about something we say, “they are in thedark,” but when they learn something new, we say the lights just went on.2. Darkness is just the opposite as it is associated with being unable to see, notknowing and moral and spiritual power that is unhealthy.B. Jesus is the Light – the one that brings to us the spiritual knowledge we need tosee what is really going on in this world and to see what God really thinks, says, does, His ways and what He wants from us.1. Note how Light helps us see so we can be guided and not stumble! Read:a) John 3:20-21- Light exposes and manifests what is real and trueb) John 11:9-10 – Light allows you to see so you do not stumblec) John 12:35 – No Light, you do not know where you are going2. So when you apply this to a spiritually dark world it means since the world isin darkness and does not know what the truth really is about God and life. They are stumbling all over the place spiritually and they really have no ideawhere they are going spiritually!C. Listen again to see that Jesus is the light come from God. John 1:4-5, 9.1. Jesus is the one who shines God’s light into this world, shining it on allmankind. He is God’s agent to bring truth to this world!2. Note it says He is the true light – that means there must be false lights aswell, counterfeits that look like the real thing but they are not.D. When we say that something is dark, we mean it is something that is really bad.Morally or spiritually wicked and evil! But not all darkness is wicked and evil.1. Listen to this 2 Corinthians 11:13-152. Even religion is a part of darkness if it is not consistent with the truth andmessage that Jesus brought. Good people doing good things can be a part ofdarkness.3. Darkness is anything that is operating without the light of God as revealed inHis Son and His Word. It can range from moral and spiritual wickedness togood people and religion. The comment element is they are not operatingaccording to the light that God has given to us in Jesus, whether what theyare doing is good or bad because it comes from man’s best wisdom ratherthan God’s true light!• And we learn in this passage this morning that there areII. Two different responses to the LightA. The first group ranges from people who just do not get it to those who flatly rejectJesus.1. First those who do not get it – Reada) V5 – not comprehend - they just do not get it, they look at Jesus and saywhat? He just does not make sense to themb) V10 – Just not recognize who He was. They are not aware of who Jesuswas2. Those who flatly reject Jesus who He is and what He claims. Reada) V11 – receive Him - did not welcome Him, they did not receive who Heclaimed to be or what He claimed the truth to be. They rejected Himb) Listen what John the Baptist said about Jesus –(1) Read John 3:31-34(2) Jesus comes from heaven and speaks the very words of God and noone receives it! Accepts it, they reject it. We will speak in amoment about those who do receive and accept what Jesus saysc) Listen to what Jesus says about Himself(1) Read John 5:43, 46-47(2) Jesus came representing God the Father – that’s what it means tocome in my Father’s name and they did not receive Him or acceptwhat He said(3) V46-47 helps us understand that simply they rejected Him and Hisclaims because they did not believe HimB. But we see in v12 of John 1 the other group of people – those who received andaccepted Jesus’ claims to come from heaven to represent the Father and what Hesays. Those that believed He was who He said He was.1. Listen to John 1:122. Those who received, accepted, believed what Jesus claimed were given theright to become children of God.C. Jesus’ basic claim was that every person born into this world is born in darknessand sin and they are separated from God. The only way out of that condition is tobelieve in Jesus and what He claims and rely upon the fact that when He died onthe cross He died to pay for your sins. When He rose from the dead, He rose togive you the very life of God so you could have the light of this world!• Which group are you in this morning?III. InviteA. If in your heart of hearts this morning you are saying to yourself I do not buywhat this guy is saying, you are in the first group that either does not recognizewho Jesus is or flatly rejects His claimsB. But if in your heart of heart you are saying to yourself – everything he is saying istrue of me and I need this light that Jesus gives and I believe everything that Jesussays about Himself and about me – then I would encourage you right now to1. Confess – you are in the dark and separated from God2. Admit that Jesus is the true light and that His death on the cross was to payfor your sins and His resurrection to give you His life3. Call out to Him right now thanking Him for dying for you and giving youknew life so you can see the true light of life!

完整文稿在微信头条,你造的,这里放不下~I brought one of my paintings to show you today. Hope you guys are gonna be able see it okay. It's not one of my bigger pieces. You might wanna move down front — to get a good look at it. (kidding)Faculty, Parents, Friends, Dignitaries… Graduating Class of 2014, and all the dead baseball players coming out of the corn to be with us today. (laughter) After the harvest there's no place to hide — the fields are empty — there is no cover there! (laughter)I am here to plant a seed that will inspire you to move forward in life with enthusiastic hearts and a clear sense of wholeness. The question is, will that seed have a chance to take root, or will I be sued by Monsanto and forced to use their seed, which may not be totally “Ayurvedic.” (laughter)Excuse me if I seem a little low energy tonight — today — whatever this is. I slept with my head to the North last night. (laughter) Oh man! Oh man! You know how that is, right kids? Woke up right in the middle of Pitta and couldn't get back to sleep till Vata rolled around, but I didn't freak out. I used that time to eat a large meal and connect with someone special on Tinder. (laughter)Life doesn't happen to you, it happens for you. How do I know this? I don't, but I'm making sound, and that's the important thing. That's what I'm here to do. Sometimes, I think that's one of the only things that are important. Just letting each other know we're here, reminding each other that we are part of a larger self. I used to think Jim Carrey is all that I was…Just a flickering lightA dancing shadowThe great nothing masquerading as something you can nameDwelling in forts and castles made of witches – wishes! Sorry, a Freudian slip thereSeeking shelter in caves and foxholes, dug out hastilyAn archer searching for his target in the mirrorWounded only by my own arrowsBegging to be enslavedPleading for my chainsBlinded by longing and tripping over paradise – can I get an “Amen”?! (applause)You didn't think I could be serious did ya'? I don't think you understand who you're dealing with! I have no limits! I cannot be contained because I'm the container. You can't contain the container, man! You can't contain the container! (laughter)I used to believe that who I was ended at the edge of my skin, that I had been given this little vehicle called a body from which to experience creation, and though I couldn't have asked for a sportier model, (laughter) it was after all a loaner and would have to be returned. Then, I learned that everything outside the vehicle was a part of me, too, and now I drive a convertible. Top down wind in my hair! (laughter)I am elated and truly, truly, truly excited to be present and fully connected to you at this important moment in your journey. I hope you're ready to open the roof and take it all in?! (audience doesn't react) Okay, four more years then! (laughter)I want to thank the Trustees, Administrators and Faculty of MUM for creating an institution worthy of Maharishi's ideals of education. A place that teaches the knowledge and experience necessary to be productive in life, as well as enabling the students, through Transcendental Meditation and ancient Vedic knowledge to slack off twice a day for an hour and a half!! (laughter) — don't think you're fooling me!!! — (applause) but, I guess it has some benefits. It does allow you to separate who you truly are and what's real, from the stories that run through your head. You have given them the ability to walk behind the mind's elaborate set decoration, and to see that there is a huge difference between a dog that is going to eat you in your mind and an actual dog that's going to eat you. (laughter) That may sound like no big deal, but many never learn that distinction and spend a great deal of their lives living in fight or flight response.I'd like to acknowledge all you wonderful parents — way to go for the fantastic job you've done — for your tireless dedication, your love, your support, and most of all, for the attention you've paid to your children. I have a saying, “Beware the unloved,” because they will eventually hurt themselves… or me! (laughter)But when I look at this group here today, I feel really safe! I do! I'm just going to say it — my room is not locked! My room is not locked! (laughter) No doubt some of you will turn out to be crooks! But white-collar stuff — Wall St. ya' know, that type of thing — crimes committed by people with self-esteem! Stuff a parent can still be proud of in a weird way. (laughter)And to the graduating class of 2017 — minus 3! You didn't let me finish! (laughter) — Congratulations! (applause) Yes, give yourselves a round of applause, please. You are the vanguard of knowledge and consciousness; a new wave in a vast ocean of possibilities. On the other side of that door, there is a world starving for new leadership, new ideas.I've been out there for 30 years! She's a wild cat! (laughter) Oh, she'll rub up against your leg and purr until you pick her up and start pettin' her, and out of nowhere she'll swat you in the face. Sure it's rough sometimes but that's OK, ‘cause they've got soft serve ice cream with sprinkles! (laughter) I guess that's what I'm really here to say; sometimes it's okay to eat your feelings! (laughter)Fear is going to be a player in your life, but you get to decide how much. You can spend your whole life imagining ghosts, worrying about your pathway to the future, but all there will ever be is what's happening here, and the decisions we make in this moment, which are based in either love or fear.So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality. What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and
