When Reid and Edmonds relocated to Atlanta in 1989, to form their own company, LaFace Records. The duo was joined by Simmons and together they discovered, signed and produced their own artists such as Toni Braxton, TLC, Usher, Damian Dame and OutKast. In 1991, Simmons co-wrote and co-produced Boyz II Men's most successful song to date, “End of the Road”, from the Eddie Murphy movie, Boomerang. The song garnered a Grammy Award in 1992 for “Best R&B Song”. “End of the Road” topped the charts from August 15 through November 7, 1992, setting a record for most weeks at number one with 13 weeks, beating Elvis Presley's 11-week hold with "Hound Dog" and "Don't Be Cruel". Presley's record had stood 36 years. Simmons, Edmonds and Reid collaborated again with Whitney Houston on The Bodyguard soundtrack (since 1990's album "I'm Your Baby Tonight"), which went on to sell more than 45 million albums worldwide. The trio also worked with Michael Jackson on his Dangerous album. Although the trio's songs didn't make it into the album's final cut, Simmons enjoyed working with Jackson and deems it an “amazing experience”.

Roseann Sureda knows how to work an audience. Looking like a vintage star, the sumptuous performer from the Hudson Valley is on the cusp of big things since her gig at The Metropolitan Room. 2019 was a stellar year for singer-songwriter and producer. Not only did she release her long-awaited debut album, "It's Called Love," this winter, but she has watched it climb the radio indie charts steadily all spring and summer. The album, an eclectic and luxuriant collection showcasing Roseann's vocal versatility, has consistently ranked in the top 10 on Jazz Juice Radio UK. Not only that, but 3 singles off the album reached No. 1 on the Indie Alliance top 20 chart. She has further made the list of top 10 artists on the Unisoul Radio Network, and most recently was Honored to receive her first (WSA)" "Through the Eyes of a Friend," "Beauty Of The Islands" and the tantalizing "Stand Up And Be Counted", which was featured on the September 2018 premier of the Amazon TV series "New Dogs, Old Tricks." Even before the release of "It's Called Love," Roseann had garnered national praise for her music video set to the title track, which debuted in 2015. Shot on the historic Kingston, NY, waterfront with actor/director Stephen William Tenner, the music video captured first prize in 2018 at the Silicon Beach Film Festival and 5 bronze awards at the Global Independent Film Awards that same year.

Grammy Award-winning composer and conductor, Eric Whitacre, is among today’s most popular musicians. His works are programmed worldwide and his ground-breaking Virtual Choirs have united singers from more than 145 countries over the last decade. Born in Nevada in 1970, Eric is a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School of Music (New York). He completed his second term as Artist in Residence with the Los Angeles Master Chorale in 2020 having served five years as Composer in Residence at the University of Cambridge (UK). His compositions have been widely recorded and his debut album as a conductor on Universal, Light and Gold, went straight to the top of the charts, earning a Grammy. As a guest conductor he has drawn capacity audiences to concerts with many of the world’s leading orchestras and choirs in venues from Carnegie Hall (New York) to the Royal Albert Hall (London). Insatiably curious and a lover of all types of music, Eric has worked with legendary Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer, as well as British pop icons Laura Mvula, Imogen Heap and Annie Lennox. In 2018 his composition, Deep Field, became the foundation for a pioneering collaboration with NASA, the Space Telescope Science Institute, Music Productions and film-makers 59 Productions. His long- form work The Sacred Veil, a profound meditation on love, life and loss, was premiered by the Los Angeles Master Chorale, conducted by the composer, and released on Signum Records in 2020. His collaboration with Spitfire Audio resulted in a trail-blazing vocal sample library, became an instant best-seller and is used by composers the world-over. A charismatic speaker, Eric Whitacre has given keynote addresses for TED, Apple, Google, the United Nations Speaker’s Program, in education and for numerous global institutions. www.alexover.com/podcast Hey guys, I've decided that after this two-part interview, I'm going to hold fire. A couple of reasons, firstly, the objective was to do face to face interviews, but of course, due to the current situation, I have decided to hold tight; this is just purely down to personal preference and what feels right for this particular show. Still, on a positive note, I've promised myself and to you the regular listeners that when the show comes back, it really will be more than it has ever been, I'm going to invest some quality time in the background to think about the next step up for it. Once the time is right, you will see and hear from me again. It also allows me to continually focus more on my Music Productions and Psychology degree, which at this moment in time is creating a lot more momentum. On another note, let me introduce you to my final guest Niaby Codd for this series (short and sweet series). A lot to take from this, a different spin entirely, even though it's not to do with just Music, there is still so much relevance around that subject, and certainly something for everyone. Based in Ibiza, you will get some insights and another side to the island, and overall, I found it fascinating. Niaby is an ex stockbroker who saw the light in the darkest hour of poor health and recognised her soul's call to walk a different path. That path has led her to be of service to spirit as she gently brings through words of wisdom from a higher source. Niaby is a healer, a spiritual medium and an inspirational speaker. She hopes to inspire people to find the power to heal themselves, so in turn, they too can inspire others to do the same. Niaby is the author of the channelled book 'The spirit of Life' and is also the host of 'The Spirit of Life in Ibiza' podcast. Niaby hopes to gently inspire consciousness in others, not by telling them how to think but rather by provoking thoughts in people that may not have previously provoked then allowing the seed of consciousness to grow. See you for Part 2 tomorrow! P.S – All socials + Niaby's website and book links below. We are excited to announce the release of Black Circle Vol.1 our first multi artist EP featuring massive talents from around the world. As diverse the background of our artists, is this album that offers an Afro Melodic House and Techno journey, spinning through different vibes and atmospheres that transpire on a global and universal level, and that understands to join them all. Music is the universal language that connects all living beings. An accelerator to enforce human connections and interactions. In its pure form resulting in movement and dance. So with joy and honor, we present you 5 epic and divers Afro House tracks, that are put together for the above mentionend motions and motivations, to bring people together, to celebrate life and dance and to enjoy these songs in their beauty. TOM WATT - Sloala: Is an upbeat track with a strong driving kick, a wonderful groove and lovely marimba melodies, progressive deep and high synth lines, amazing African vocals and great percussion. This song is a modern approach incorporating beautiful ethnic elements and first and foremost a real groover for the dancefloor. DARKSIDEVINYL - TOBA: An epic fusion of very powerful synth lines and a dominant punchy kick set the stage for this modern melodic techno based Afro House marvel. Poignant HH's interchange with a percussion line that is more than on point. Dramatic build up flanked by synth progressions and synth sequences result in a modern oriental sounding xylophone melody that is mirrored by its twin synth melody. A track for your peak time Afro House or afro inspired Melodic Techno set. Amazing! BALATA & NOZAO - CARBET: With deep and progressive synth lines and pads as well as a deep kick and bassline the track opens a beautiful progressive journey into an afro futuristic world never heard and seen before. Sound exploration on another level where metal sounding timbales transport you direct into the orbit, but you will arrive comfortably with some dub layered synth lines and stabs. Great groove through percussion and fast paced sharp HH's as well as Sound FX make this track a real Afro House 'space groover' with the potential to get lost forever... Enjoy this journey! A.R.U.N. & MARCO BERTO - EJEAA: This song kicks off with a deep kick and a real groovy bassline, flagged by percussive elements slowly panning in, it's synth melody. Tribal fun combined with an enjoyable and upbeat house groove, set the center stage for this track. The dominant synth bass line is implemented as the main theme of the track. African vocals and classic house FX give this one a nice drive to be played in your 'good vibrations' Afro House set or also in your Tribal House set. TOMY WAHL - KARAC: Starting off with a technoish minimalistic approach using intricate FX combined with a powerful kick this song flies with the implementation of a super deep saw synth line progression that drive the track forward. Afrobeat combined with fast hitting HH's and a marimba melody as well as African vocal FX and an amazing jazzy break make this one, a unique jam in today's Afro House.

Jackie Komutatsu - Aura (Leisure Music Productions) Release 02 March 2020 Presale https://www.beatport.com/release/aura/2840946 Label: https://soundcloud.com/leisuremusicproductions We are proud to bring to you this epic organic EP called Aura from Jackie Komutatsu including 2 beautiful interpretations from Darksidevinyl and Acado. 'An aura is a collection of electro-magnetic energies of varying densities which are emanating from the physical, vital, etheric, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies.' Jackie Komutatsu created 2 versions of his track both of them a journey into deep, tribal and organic deep tech orientated sound. The orginal mix opens up with street noises at an African market and sets the stage for the track's intrinsic sound FX. A deep powerful kick, horn FX and multiple layers of percussive elements as well as a powerful vocals are introduced. Slowely the track starts to build up getting its drive from an open HH and dub Fx, claps and a beautiful oriental melody. Beat, melody, percussion and vocals are carefully intertwined and progress throughout the track in a beautiful symbiosis. The perfect set opener for your organic deep tech set or to kick off your mystic afterhour. The second version of Jackie Komutatsu is an amazing dub version of the original track, concentrating more on the essential strong kick and on those amazing dub sounds, Aura features. Darksidevinyl's interpretation of Aura is a very powerful melodic techno track offering a masterful composition by implementing his signature sound of percussive precision and the creation of multiple strong synths and melodies that progress throughout the track. He kicks it off very subtle with a strong kick and leading sound FX. A moving bass synth progression leads the way accompanied by subtle shakers, percussive elements and dub sound FX to the tracks first break. African vocal chants and FX as well as risers build the track up to its second part, where the track finds its groove. The grand finale is introduced by an implementation of a dramatic violin orchestra and very poweful layered synths. This track is perfect for your peak time melodic techno set. A poweful and unique remix. The second interpretation comes from Acado and is a downtempo remix, focusing on the organic and spiritual elements of the track. Acado starts out with a powerful kick, snare combination and shakers setting the groove for their remix. Vocals, chants and arabic flute as well as an electric guitar are combined to produce a powerful interplay of the different elements. A groovy bassline drives the track forward. The break builds up slowely with the accentuation of multiple sound Fx and vocals elements and synth basslines. A beautiful, mesmerizing but also very strong work of art, made to make you get into your groove. Perfect to open your organic downtempo, deep house or even progressive set.
