King Shapur II of Persia conducted a fierce persecution of Christians in his realm for thirty-seven years. In the final years of this persecution he gave his magi authority to torture and kill any Christians who would not renounce their faith. Acepsimas, the aged and holy Bishop of Paka, was arrested along with Joseph the priest and Aithalas the deacon. All not only refused to deny Christ, but boldly preached Him before the magi and the king. The enraged king had them viciously tortured, then, as a final indignity, made prisoners of all the local Christians and forced them to stone their own shepherds to death. With their martyrdom the great persecution in Persia came to an end.

Kris Cody is the CEO and founder of a freakishly cool clothing company… Paka Apparel! While in college… Kris took a trip to Peru and while he was there… he came across a sweater made with wool from alpaca fiber. He loved the thing… and when he came back to the states… he realized all of his friends wanted one too. As Kris started to dream about the possibilities… he was also struck with the thought of sourcing everything right from Peru… from the families that he'd interacted with on his trip. He also loved the thought of hiring local women to craft sweaters and clothing he could send around the world. With that dream in mind… Kris started a company called Paka Apparel in 2017. He fueled the launch of Paka with a Kickstarter campaign that initially had a goal of $20,000 and they hit that in under 24 hours. Kris and the campaign went on to raise more than $350,000 in 30 days. From that exciting start… Paka has now created a line of washable alpaca apparel and ethical performance outerwear, along with Paka's tried and true sweaters, hoodies and socks. And get this. Paka Apparel… under Kris's leadership… has been celebrated for their efforts to localize Paka's supply chain: All of Paka's alpaca fiber is sourced from free-roaming herds in Peru. 90% of products are manufactured in Peru. And… over 100 Quechua (keCHwa) women weavers are employed and Paka pays them a wage that's 4x the living wage in Peru! And the clothing looks awesome too! I'm loving this story! And Kris is obviously living the DREAM THINK DO life… so let's get to this! What did you think of Kris's approach to life and how curiosity led him to start PAKA? I just love out “curiosity” led him to take that initial trip to Peru. And how finding that one sweater led him to starting a MOVEMENT. By the way… that's exactly what I think PAKA is. Sure… it's a freakishly cool clothing brand. But… I think Kris and his team are starting a MOVEMENT… one small step at a time. How about YOU? How might you apply the concepts he was talking about to start a MOVEMENT of your own? You sure don't need to launch a clothing brand… but how could you “follow YOUR curiosity” to find more of the things YOU were put on the planet to do? By the way… Kris is young and he started young. And that's awesome!!! But I think that his approach can be applied to ANY stage of life… especially if you give yourself permission to take small but intentional steps forward! Want proof? Check out THIS EPISODE where I interview Shawn Askinosie about how he left a successful career as a criminal defense lawyer to start a bean-to-bar chocolate factory. He was in his mid-50's when he started that journey… and he… as Kris would say, “kept following his curiosity” and he's never looked back. By the way… Askinosie Chocolate is a small batch, award-winning chocolate factory located in Springfield, Missouri. They source 100% of their cocoa beans directly from farmers across the globe. Askinosie Chocolate was recently named one of the 25 Best Small Companies in America by Forbes and Shawn himself was named by “O,” Oprah's magazine, as one of the 15 guys who is literally saving the world. Very cool. Okay… now you know the question is coming! Are you ready? Here it is: What's something (BIG or small) YOU want to do as a result of hearing THIS episode? Lastly… PLEASE share this powerful conversation with a friend or family member who might be needing it… right now! They'll thank you! This month, WTiN speaks with Kris Cody. Founder and chief executive officer at PAKA, a company paving its own path with natural fibres since 2015. The idea of PAKA and traceable alpaca wool came after Cody was in Peru as part of a backpacking trip. After returning home, he booked a one-way flight back over to Peru and lived among the alpaca farmers and their families before starting the company. Now, nine years later, the company has hit a number of impressive milestones. One year after a kick starter campaign that raised over 1700% of its initial target, PAKA released its first activewear: BREATHE, which was forged in partnership with SeaLegacy. Just last year, PAKA released its first traceable alpaca hoodie releases, in partnership with AIA, followed by the release of PAKAFILL® - an ‘ethical' insulation for clothing.Contact Cody at pakaapparel.com.

Paka pantasma is a level five evocation spell with an instant casting time, a range of one hundred twenty feet, and a duration of one minute. The materials required are an egg shell and a snakeskin glove, the former of which is consumed by the spell. The spell requires concentration to maintain. Paka pantasma creates a floating hand which matches the size, shape, and strenghth of the castor. The hand is visible and solid which can be dispelled if struck with four thousand newtons of force or about nine hundred pounds. The spell will also fail if the hand is exposed to eighty degrees Celsius for more than five seconds. Don't get paka pantasma confused with a similar spell, pomicati. Both can be used to move objects and both are limited to the strength of the castor, but pomicati produces equal force around an entire object, while paka pantasma places force exactly as a hand would. This spell is useful when more intricate work is needed or when your work needs to be more visual. It also gives tactile feedback when touching.

“The sheep that belongs to me listens to my voice...” Hindi madali ang makinig. Kailangang maglaan ng panahon – quality time.

Welcome back, family! We made it to the double digits, episode 10 is all about being grateful for the continuous support and love! As promised, every 5th episode we will be on location, and this time the crew was at Kalalou restaurant in Orlando Florida. To start the pod, the crew acknowledged the Kanaval season that happened by playing a popular record by King posse. Then, Gigi gave a recap of her birthday celebration which was well spent. The crew received their creative award for 2020 for podcast of the year from Haitian Who Blog. They did the unboxing live and all of the emotions were on display as receiving the physical award is so rewarding during our era! Then the crew got into the topic, which was the etiquette of our culture and our mannerisms. The conversation also steered towards the concept of "pèpè" which is thrifting in Haiti and how there are no systems as profitable in comparison to the US. lastly, the crew discussed the sense of style in certain parts of Haiti due to the lack of role models in that department. Overall Kalalou was an awesome host and the crew got into their bag about the creative culture as a Haitian Millennial. Thank you all for listening!
