POPULARITY
In this episode, we dive deep into why optimism is far more than just wishful thinking—it's a practical, essential quality for doing brave, creative work and leading others with clarity. We explore how maintaining optimistic vision, especially in uncertain times, can drive teams forward and inspire decisive action. We also welcome special guest Peter Wilken, branding expert and author of Dim Sum Strategy and The Ten Commandments to Build a Strong Brand and Steer Your Ship By. Peter shares stories from his storied career at the forefront of global advertising and brand consulting, shedding light on the origins and importance of “brand DNA.” Together, we discuss the key components that make great brands resilient, relevant, and unique, and how nurturing breakthrough ideas means protecting them as they grow.Five Key Learnings from the Episode:Optimism Demands Agency and Vision: Real optimism is about having perceived agency and a clear, forward-looking vision, not blind faith. Leaders must provide clarity (not certainty) and communicate how their team fits into the bigger picture. The True Nature of Passion: Passion, at its root, means being willing to endure or suffer for a meaningful outcome. It's about committing to a vision deeply enough to overcome discomfort or setbacks along the way.Spotting and Nurturing Great Ideas: Breakthrough creative ideas often begin as small, vulnerable seedlings that need protection and nurturing. Organizations need the courage, craftsmanship, and willingness to let ideas grow—even if they're polarizing at first.Brand DNA Explained: Great brands have a unique “DNA”—a strategic, memorable template outlining their reason for being, core beliefs, promise, customer benefit, and culture. This blueprint ensures long-lasting differentiation and guides consistent brand experiences.Common Pitfalls to Avoid: Brands erode when they try to please everyone, over-invest in superficial touchpoints, or jump to execution before strategy. Strong brands actively exclude those who don't share their values and build on a foundation of unwavering beliefs.Get articles to your inbox each week at BraveFocusedBrilliant.com.Mentioned in this episode:NEW BOOK! You've heard of the Great Wealth Transfer taking place as Baby Boomers pass away, but did you know that women will inherit the majority of those assets? It's true. The Great Wealth Transfer is really horizontal, with widows inheriting most private wealth before it's passed on to the next generation. Sharon Epps joins us today to talk about how women should prepare.Sharon Epps is the president of Kingdom Advisors, our parent organization. Kingdom Advisors is a group dedicated to training financial professionals to guide and advise you according to biblical principles.Women as the Primary InheritorsOne surprising fact is that women will inherit the majority of this wealth. Since women typically outlive men by about six to seven years, nearly 70% will experience widowhood and manage their spouse's share of assets. In addition to inheriting from their husbands, many women will also receive an inheritance from their parents, and, increasingly, they are generating their own income through employment. This convergence of income streams will place an estimated two-thirds of U.S. assets—around $30 trillion—under women's control by 2030, according to McKinsey & Company. The Heart of Generosity: Purpose, Passion, and PlanThe wealth transfer isn't just about financial assets; it's a significant opportunity for generosity. Three key factors inspire generosity: purpose, passion, and planning.Purpose: A strong sense of purpose can motivate people to give more. Research from Women Doing Well revealed that women who score high on purpose tend to donate around 14% of their income, compared to 9% for those with lower purpose scores.Passion: Passion for a cause often stems from personal experiences of pain or suffering. This deeply held belief leads people to make sacrificial giving decisions. When people align their hearts with God's, they are inspired to give courageously and with conviction, connecting their generosity to meaningful experiences.Planning: Effective financial planning is essential for generosity, especially for women who aspire to give more but may lack the structure to manage their finances for greater impact. Financial planning and passion must work hand-in-hand to create a lasting legacy of giving.Building a Generous Legacy: Preparing for Wealth ResponsibilityWith the responsibility of managing inherited wealth, women must be equipped with spiritual foundations and financial wisdom. Three main influences support women's generosity:Understanding that God owns it all.Personal spiritual disciplines like Bible study and prayer.Receiving teaching on stewardship. When women embrace these principles, they can approach wealth with a mindset of stewardship rather than ownership, seeing it as a resource to bless others.Women and Collaborative GivingWomen often approach giving differently than men, preferring collaboration and community. Studies from the National Christian Foundation show that women are twice as likely to participate in collaborative giving, pooling resources with others to maximize their impact. Women seek transformational experiences rather than merely transactional ones, often using giving as a means to disciple their families and build stronger connections within their communities. For women looking to embrace generosity and connect with like-minded individuals, we recommend organizations such as Women Doing Well, Generous Giving, and the National Christian Foundation (NCF). These groups offer opportunities for women to strategize, collaborate, and grow in their giving journey.Embracing Generosity as a Lasting LegacyAs the wealth transfer unfolds, the unique generosity of women presents an unparalleled chance to impact future generations. For those who steward this opportunity with purpose, passion, and a solid plan, the legacy of giving can become not only a financial blessing but a tool for discipleship and transformation.Connecting with organizations and communities that support women's giving can help women maximize this historic moment and courageously and convictionally live out the principles of generosity. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm 75, and my husband is 78. If he passes away, I'll lose about $4,000 per month in income. I have $2,800 from teacher retirement, $662 in social security, and $2,000 from a 403(b). I've saved $80,000 and can save an extra $4,000 monthly. I'm concerned about managing the $4,000 income drop and what to do with the $80,000 I've saved. My wife and I own two homes—one is a rental property I moved out of in 2022. We're trying to determine the best time to sell both properties and how to maximize the capital gains exclusion, especially since we both had primary residences prior to getting married in 2022.Resources Mentioned:Generous GivingNational Christian Foundation (NCF)Women Doing WellLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. In today's podcast, Manuel discusses the incredible journey of entrepreneurship and the importance of passion in everything you do. He shares a personal story about his father, a man who wasn't considered a marketer but had an unmatched passion for helping and impacting people. Discover why marketing is crucial for making a significant difference in others' lives and how anyone can start building their legacy. Listen in today! The Journey of Entrepreneurship: Being an entrepreneur is challenging—only a small percentage of the population have the courage, fortitude, and mental strength to navigate the ups and downs. Your passion will be the foundation of everything you do and will help you persevere through tough times. Getting Started: Remember, every successful person once had no following. Every professional started as a beginner. The difference between a beginner and a professional is persistence. Believe in your ability, trust the process, and start taking action. Hit record, share your value, and build your empire. The Importance of Passion: Passion is the driving force behind your journey. It's what will get you through the highs and lows. It's the strong, intense emotion and enthusiasm for something you deeply care about. Some may call it obsession, but it's this dedication that leads to success. Keep being obsessed with your passion because it will drive you towards achieving your goals. The Endless Opportunities: The opportunity pie in this world is so vast that you will never conquer it entirely. As you achieve success, you'll realize how much more there is to accomplish. For Manuel, "more" means creating impact. He's on a mission to make the biggest possible impact during his lifetime. Building Your Legacy: Manuel's goal for each of you is to find something you never want to retire from. True happiness and winning are about doing what you love and not doing what you don't. When you find that passion, you've won the game of life. Defining Legacy: Legacy is something handed down from one generation to another. It can be material, like property or money, or intangible, like traditions, reputation, or contributions. Manuel's father's legacy continues to impact lives every day through the messages he shared. Manuel wants each of you to put your message out there and create a legacy that will benefit future generations. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Certain types of technology are easier to understand for some people than for others, and that's okay. Passion is contagious; iIt attracts employees and customers. Strong, passionate leadership with clear vision increases employee satisfaction that then translates to satisfied customers. Developers who make products that build and maintain infrastructure toil to solve problems so their customers can pursue their own desires. Idit Levine, the Founder and CEO of Solo.io, shares her zeal for her company's work as well as a belief in her team's competitive nature.Main TakeawaysThe Power of Passion: Passion is often underrated. It is the engine of creativity and accomplishment. Lean into passion in order to educate others, gather phenomenal employees, and attract customers. Creation from Competition: Competition can be something that people shy away from. Perhaps this is because they wrongly equate it to being domineering. True competition is about striving to be the best version of oneself and creating an environment for one's entire team to do the same. Embrace competition to win.Knowing the Why of Founding: Founding a company is a huge endeavor. Knowing the reason to be a founder is essential. For Idit Levine, founding was about building on the successful things she had learned from previous stops but also learning from experiences she found wanting and believing she could do even better. Supporting the Team: A CEO should be obsessed with their employees. Leaders must make sure their employees are content and empowered to be their best. Happy employees lead to satisfied customers. Listening to the Market but Pushing Too: Listen to the market, but don't just listen to the market. Customers don't always know what they need or the direction of where a technology must head. It's the job of a CEO to lead and determine the company's course and the products they must build.IT Visionaries is brought to you by the Salesforce Platform - the #1 cloud platform for digital transformation of every experience. Worth: Uncovering Our Identity Single parents have often walked a challenging path experiencing hurts and obstacles along the way. These difficulties can shake their sense of worth leaving them feeling empty and unsure of who they are. Regaining a sense of worth is found in recovering our sense of value, uncovering our identity, and realizing our purpose. Each component builds on the other. The first one, our value, is unchangeable and intrinsic. God determines our value which is foundational to our sense of worth. The second component is our identity. Our identity is made up of characteristics that distinguish us from one another. It’s our individual stories that set us apart. Finally, our worth helps inform our purpose. We were created intentionally by God to fulfill good works planned for us. When we have a solid understanding of our value, identity, and purpose, we can walk with confidence in our worth, knowing we were created by God, on purpose for a purpose. One of the components needed for a healthy sense of worth is uncovering our identity. We can gain valuable knowledge of who we are through four facets: 1) our history, 2) the setbacks we’ve experienced, 3) our unique strengths, and 4) our individual passion. History First, our history starts with our family of origin. Part of understanding our identity lies in understanding how we grew up and how it impacted us. Whether raised in a big family or as an only child, whether under ideal circumstances or difficult ones, our upbringing has shaped and molded us into who we are today. Understanding our history helps us understand our identity today. The story of Joseph illustrates how our family of origin can shape us. Joseph was a favored son and his brothers became jealous as a result. His childhood experiences of having dreams and being able to interpret them are a big part of his family history. Your family history matters too. Setbacks Another facet of our identity are the setbacks we’ve faced. Each one of us has experienced different hardships and difficulties that inform our identity and sense of who we are. Joseph was betrayed and sold into slavery by his brothers. He was accused of something he didn’t do and was thrown into prison. These hardships impacted his identity just like we are impacted by our own. Adversities like divorce, abuse, illness, or betrayal change our life trajectory and the way we see ourselves. Some alter our identity while others reinforce it or cause us to reinvent part of who we are. Strengths Like our history and setbacks, our strengths are another facet of identity. Our unique talents and strengths help us understand who we were created to be. Some of our experiences develop these strengths and others reveal ones we didn’t even know were there. Each strength informs part of our identity. Taking inventory of our strengths is an important part of recognizing our worth. One of Joseph’s strengths was charisma. He first found favor with his father and later with those he encountered while he was a slave and in prison. Joseph also knew how to interpret dreams. This gift from God gave him an advantage and set him up to gain stature in Egypt. Knowing our strengths is a key facet to knowing our identity. Passion Passion is the final facet in discovering our identity. We can find our passion by looking at the things we are drawn to, like nurturing kids, being creative, or starting a business. When we take the time to understand our individual passions, we gain a greater understanding of our identity too. Sometimes the turmoil we have faced as a single parent can rob us of some of our passion, but these same adversities can also fuel it. Taking time to recognize our passions is...

EXCUSES BEGONE How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits Andrea Seydel Live Life Happy Unconventional Book Club Introduction Dr. Wayne W. Dyer reveals how to change the self-defeating thinking patterns the have prevented us from living at our highest levels of success, happiness and health. Modifying habitual thinking patterns really comes down to tossing out the same old excuses and examining your beliefs in a new light., Get ready to learn specific questions to ask any excuse, and then proceed to new thinking. Melt away old habituated ways of thinking. Through his book... You ultimately discover you have no excuses worth defending, that when you eliminate the need to explain your shortcomings or failures, you'll awaken to a life of your dreams. Questions to Ask Yourself What excuses have you used in the past? What excuses are you still using today?Really think about it. What is holding you back from your life, from a higher level of success? What long established excuses have you used that are keep you the same? What kind of thinking has become habitual or have become long habits of thoughts? What is your excuse pattern? I want you to REALLY THINK ABOUT THIS BECAUSE... IT"S ABOUT TO GET REAL!! Identify & Remove Habitual Thinking "Don't believe everything you think!" You can change old habits by changing your beliefs: Your beliefs are all those formless energy patterns the you've adopted. We create self-limiting beliefs to explain why where're not living life to the absolute fullest. "I won't ever be able to do that it's not in my genes." The thoughts called memes are thoughts that you allow to become your master and every excuse you've made is a meme disguised as an explanation. This becomes a placebo effect or self fulfilling prophecy. Creative conscious mind can do almost anything you instruct it to do. Through discipline, effort, and practice, it can accomplish almost anything you focus your thoughts on. Habit implies that you've made the same choices over time. It also implies that you can make your thoughts less automatic and more aligned and applied. SLOWLY ELIMINATING EXCUSES. TIPS: 1. Decide to CHOOSE instead of EXCUSE; Everything you think, say, and do is a choice.2. See yourself through a new lens. Notice where you are rationalizing or justifying, shift to a new way of seeing things. "If no one told me who I was who would I be? 3. Make an EXCUSE CATALOG- it will be difficult, It's going to be risky, it will take a ling time, there will be drama, I don't deserve it, it's not my nature, I can't afford it, no one will help me, It's never happened before, I'm not strong enough, I'm not smart enough, I'm too old (young), The rules won't let me, It's too big, I don't have the energy, my family history or upbringing, I'm too busy, I'm scared. The Key Excuses Begone Principles: Awareness: Lifelong thinking keeps you stuck, becoming aware is the first step. Alignment: Readjust your thinking so it is in alignment with your greatness. Now: Forget past and future, be present in the now. Excuses explain now moments tangled in the past and future. Now is where the truth is. No judgement. Contemplation: Is the mental activity behind all creation. Be conscious of what you choose to use your mind for. Willingness: an essential element in the approach towards living your life fully free from excuses. Willing to take responsibility, to vision, to surrender, to take a willing mindset. Passion: Passion always trumps excuses! An enthusiasm that comes from within=passion. Nurture your passion. Compassion: When retreat to excuses ask your self, "How may I serve?" Thinking of others first allows for you to feel joy and overrides excuses. The Excuses Begone Shift: Questions to shift old thinking 1. Is it True? 2. Where did the excuses come from? 3. What's the pay off? 4. What would my life look like if I couldn't use these excuses? 5. Can I create a rational reason to change? 6. Can I access universal cooperation in shedding the old habits? 7. How do I continuously reinforce this new way of being? Summary This book encourages us to challenge patterns and feel inspired by a new awareness hidden beneath excuses. It helped us have an unquestionable ability to eliminate excuses. As excuses are from false beliefs. Its helps us to elevate our lives but taking responsibility for who we are and what we are choosing to become. We can disconnect the power from the subconscious habitual mind, so we can unearth the excuses buried beneath!!
