It's the last WWF Monday Night Raw of 1999 and the McMahon-Helmsley power trip continues with a Pink Slip on a Pole match between Mankind and The Rock, leading to Mick Foley's untimely demise. The locker room is starting to boil over with the power trip. Plus, Kane and Tori have some relationship issues after her weekend with X-Pac, and it involves Test. Plus, Chyna continues to help Chris Jericho and Mark Henry and Mae Young go out on a double date. Former head writer Tommy Blacha has great insight on all of it. Watch this episode on Youtube.Follow Tales from The Attitude Era on all social mediahttp://youtube.com/@TFTAttitudeEra http://twitter.com/TFTAttitudeErahttp://instagram.com/TFTAttitudeErahttp://tiktok.com/@TFTAttitudeEraTommy Blacha made his name in Hollywood as a writer on Conan O'Brien, co-creator of Metalocalypse on Adult Swim, and a writer on shows like The Eric Andre Show and Da Ali G Show. But, a little-known fact about Tommy's career is that he was the head writer of WWE (WWF at the time)) during their most successful period, starting in 1999, taking over for Vince Russo, who left for the competition. This podcast, Tales from the Attitude Era will be a retrospective of Tommy's time in the head writer position and the roller coaster ride that is pro wrestling, co-hosted by Rob Pasbani. All things are well in WCW on the July 31st, 2000 episode of Nitro. Booker T is the fighting babyface WCW World Champion and Vince Russo is in charge… Okay well maybe not everything is good. The main “highlight” from this show was a throw away segment featuring a “Viagra on a Pole” Match. Billy Kidman is huge, while The Franchise Shane Douglas has problems getting it up in the bedroom. That's literally why the match is happening. They hang Viagra on a pole and whoever gets it, wins. Speaking of gimmick matches, Kevin Nash battles Scott Steiner in a “Straight Jacket” Match. Put your opponent in a straight jacket and you decide when you are tired of beating them up. And as previously mentioned Booker T is the fighting WCW Champion, but Jeff Jarrett hurt his leg badly with a Figure Four. As fighting champion he says he will face Sting for the belt, as he was previously supposed to have the match. Booker T's wife gets hit with a guitar by Jeff Jarrett and has to go to the hospital. Booker returns and has his match with Sting. However, chaos ensues as Double J hangs Booker by his leg and hits it with a guitar. Also, Sting gets burned alive inside a coffin by Vampiro and The Kiss Demon! Good Ol WCW Nitro 2000. Vince Russo is in charge of creative so you know it's going to be a wild ride. On the September 11th, 2000 episode, we have the wedding of David Flair & Stacy Keibler from Charlotte, North Carolina. David Flair has been on bad terms with Arn Anderson and Ric Flair, but he is looking to make amends with everyone and invite them to his wedding. Just as David Flair & Stacy are about to get married local police come down and arrest Ric Flair. Apparently, Vince Russo took out a restraining order on Ric and he wasn't allowed in the building. Later that night, we do the wedding all over again, however you guessed it, there's a “Russo Swerve!” Speaking of Vince Russo, he is not here tonight as he is away having major brain surgery. Week 12 in the NFL was full of odd events and outcomes, like most weeks this year. The boys got bit by most of the games and shared losing records. But as always, Jay and Dre are back to identify the best and worst before trying to rebound with their Week 13 picks ATS. Deshaun Watson's suspension just happens to coincidentally end this week, when his Browns travel to the scene of the twentysomething crimes, Houston. More importantly, the football gods gift us with FIVE (!) games between winning teams: Jets-Vikings, Washingtons-Giants, Titans-Eagles in the AJ Brown Bowl, Dolphins-49ers in the Mike McDaniel on a Pole Match, Chiefs-Bengals in the AFC title game rematch. The year is 2000 and wrestling is approaching its peak in American culture, well, at least WWE is. WCW on the other hand is going through corporate shakeups and multiple structural changes that its amazing they were able to put together weekly television on time week to week. WCW in the year 2000 is a buffet of Dork Side topics, but we start with one of the most infamous Items on a Pole matches of all time. Its Billy Kidman vs Shane Douglas in a Viagra on a Pole Match. The winner would be whoever grabs the Viagra. Grumm is joined by TILII.TV friends TheDorkyOwl and Jhonner1223 (@Jhonner5) to watch, laugh at, and discuss the match. Dorky tells us about her high school's boner pill obsession, the trio talk about how awful medicine tastes, and spend too much time booking some pole matches of their own like tea party on a pole and vaccination on a pole. This episode is a silly one. It's WCW 1999 folks...truly a coffin on rollerskates! Did you know you could be enjoying 83 Weeks days, even a week in advance on ADFreeShows.com? On this edition, Josh and Dan dive into just two topics: the Last Dance documentary series focusing on Michael Jordan and the Bulls, and the NFL Draft that starts this week. Observations are plentiful concerning Bulls ownership/management, the players, the history, the highlights, and obviously the soundtrack. The draft could be a technological nightmare with all 32 teams relying on solid WiFi. Each guys breaks down their teams needs and their wish list for a couple players they'd like to see in each respective jersey. An hour and twenty minutes awaits! Thanks for listening, downloading, subscribing. And tell your friends!

May 10th, 1999: With "Nitro" being preempted by The NBA Playoffs, "Raw" has Monday all to themselves, and what results is a record-breaking rating which still has not been topped to this day! Commissioner Shawn Michaels shows up on the TitanTron live from back home in San Antonio, where he proceeds to schedule a whole bunch of matches. In our main event, WWF Champion "Stone Cold" Steve Austin teams with The Rock and Vince McMahon to take on Corporate Ministry members The Undertaker, Triple-H, and Shane McMahon. In a Hardcore Handicap Match, Mideon & Viscera team up to face an opponent who is returning for one night only: Cactus Jack! Pat Patterson & Gerald Brisco once again step into the ring with The Mean Street Posse, but this time the losing team must leave the WWF forever. The Big Boss Man does battle with Test in what you could say is Boss Man's signature match: a Nightstick-on-a-Pole Match. WWF Women's Champion Sable puts her title on the line against Debra in an Evening Gown Match, with surprising results. Chyna screwed over Ken Shamrock last week, so she must confront "The World's Most Dangerous Man" tonight. One half of the WWF Tag Team Champions Kane squares off with former DX member Billy Gunn. Jeff Jarrett clobbers Val Venis with a guitar, and then later on the two of them have a pretty solid match. Paul Bearer is forced to compete in his first ever match in the WWF...... against The Big Show. Faarooq and Bradshaw are ordered to face each other in a match which could potentially tear The Acolytes apart. Plus, we get another terrible Beaver Cleavage vignette, and Steve Blackman does some cool martial arts stuff to try and get us to forget that he's been a jobber for the past few months! December 13th / 14th, 1998: The WWF gives us a lousy pay-per-view followed by an awesome episode of "Raw," and Sal from WrestleMania SalVation is joining the Podcast to break it all down! "Rock Bottom: In Your House" Card: WWF Champion The Rock vs. Mankind Buried Alive Match: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. The Undertaker WWF Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws vs. Ken Shamrock & The Big Boss Man Striptease Match: Goldust vs. Jeff Jarrett Steve Blackman vs. Owen Hart The Brood vs. The J.O.B. Squad D'Lo Brown & Mark Henry vs. Val Venis & The Godfather The Headbangers vs. The Oddities December 14th, 1998 "Monday Night Raw": D-Generation-X opens the show by parodying The Corporation, which leads to Commissioner Shawn Michaels scheduling two title matches tonight: The Rock defending his WWF Championship against Triple-H, and The New Age Outlaws putting their Tag Titles on the line against Ken Shamrock & The Big Boss Man in a rematch from "Rock Bottom." Vince and Shane McMahon reveal "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's number for the Royal Rumble match, and then we get the surprising announcement of who the second participant in the match will be. Also, because Mankind and Kane pissed off Vince last night, The Chairman schedules them to fight each other in a No Holds Barred Match tonight on "Raw." Goldust goes one-on-one with The Blue Blazer, but Steve Blackman ends up getting the last laugh after the match when he finally manages to unmask The Blazer! Later on, Blackman faces Jeff Jarrett in a Guitar-on-a-Pole Match because..... Vince Russo. J.O.B. Squad members Scorpio & Bob Holly go up against Mark Henry & D'Lo Brown, with the highlight being a pre-match promo where "Sexual Chocolate" tells us what happened on the night of his date with Chyna. Val Venis & The Godfather step into the ring with two men who are teaming up for the very first time: Edge & Christian! Plus, a debuting superstar joins The Corporation, The Brood vow to give someone a "bloodbath," and The Rock hilariously mocks the catchphrases of WCW wrestlers! Enjoying the Podcast?
