Felipe Faria is a fellow #RPGLATAM Artists, who has illustrated many amazing games and is well known for his black and white ink style that combines the best of old-school style art, comics and mangas. He has worked on titles such as, Primal Quest, Lilliputian: Adventure on the Open Seas, We Deal In Lead, and many more. I've been following Felipe for a few years and I was immediately captivated by his style, composition, and choices! His characters have a unique style that feels like only him would be able to do it. And not to mention that even though when Felipe started his art was already incredibly good, we can see his techniques getting better and better as he is constantly working and studying his craft. In this chat we talked about how he got into RPG through the art, traditional media versus digital, how art and RPG relate to each other, his influences, practices and many other things. The audio on this one isn't 100% but it is still a valuable episode that I hope you will enjoy! So listen up and get weird with us! CHECK OUT FELIPE'S WORK! Lukasz Kowalczuk is a comic artist and illustrator whose unique style gives whole new identity to whatever he is working on. He is the artist behind To Hell and Galgenback, the Mork Borg webcomic series, and is the illustrator of the award winning Kosmosaurs RPG, among many other amazing works! I got lucky enough to meet Lukasz online and his style, energy and philosophy quickly draw us closer. I had the honor to collaborate with him on Kosmosaurs RPG, which wouldn't be the same without him, and on other projects, like Primal Quest. We still have plans of many other collaborations but in this chat we talked about a lot of other things. We discussed the stress of the holiday season, parenthood and how we do our best for our kids. We discussed his influences and artists he admires the most, his techniques for being productive, his tips for beginners, his complicated relationship with comics and a lot more! We had a great time! Join Travis with friends Danelle “Nellie” Ballengee and Mia Howle for a fun and highly-educational conversation about preparing for and competing in trail running marathons and ultramarathon.Danelle Ballengee is one of the world's most accomplished adventure sports athletes, boasting four Pikes Peak Marathon wins, three Primal Quest adventure race victories, and six “U.S. Athlete of the Year” wins in four sports. She is the top-winning endurance athlete in the world, having won several hundred events in various endurance sports including skyrunning, adventure racing, mountain running, rogaining, snowshoeing, triathlon, and duathlon. In 2006, she survived an incredible accident where she was stranded for 56 hours with a shattered pelvis when she fell about 60 feet after slipping on an icy rock while trail running near Moab, Utah.Travis and Mace have enjoyed a decades-long friendship with Nellie that has transitioned from the racecourse (where they used to spend all their time) to the soccer sideline (where they now spend most of their weekends and occasionally see each other at their kids' training camps and tournaments). They all raced together with Shane Sigle on Team Endure at World's Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji 2019 (available on Prime Video).Mia Howle, who is training for the Moab Trail Marathon, is Senior Marketing Manager at TheFeed and professional photographer with apBEARture Photography.Moab Trail Marathon WebsiteRoute66 Ultra Run WebsiteMia Howle Instagram apBEARture Photography Instagram Past Episodes:Danelle on Episode 4 Fueling with John Gaston and Josiah Middaugh Ultrarunning with Luke Jay Route 66 PodcastThanks to our sponsors:The Feed Instagram | WebsiteNeuroReserveUse code TRAVISMACY for 15% off RELEVATE by NeuroReserve: Core Dietary Nutrients for Lifelong Brain Health- - - - - - - - - - -Purchase A Mile at A Time: A Father and Son's Inspiring Alzheimer's Journey of Love, Adventure, and HopeSubscribe: Apple Podcast | SpotifyCheck us out: Instagram | Twitter | Website | YouTubeThe show is Produced and Edited by Palm Tree Pod Co.
8th Episode! Today with the creative and resourceful creator Marco Serrano, from Spicy Tuna. Marco Serrano may be best known by his various and excellent contributions to the Mothership Space Horror RPG with his 3rd Party publications, but he also worked on many other things (and is working on even more), including A Butterfly Dies for Primal Quest (a great 3rd Party Module inspired by Latin American culture)! He is currently working on his first full game system called Greenhorns: Creators of Worlds, in which you create and see the development of worlds in the universe. Marco is also a dad of 4, a graphic, designer, and illustrator and a lot more things (aren't we all?). We talked about his passion for short stories, how they work, some of his favorite ones, and how can they influence our game design. We talked about comics, art, stuff you make but you don't share. We discussed how he operates doing search and learning new things all the time, and how that inspires and informs his work and life. We also talked religion, catholicism, growing up in a church and delved into the weird as usual. Marco cites a lot of interesting material I don't have all the links to yet but I will try to find it (if any of you can help me with that, that would be great). Here's links to Marco's work! Marshall Ulrich is an extreme endurance athlete—ultrarunning icon, Seven Summits mountaineer, and adventure racer— who is considered the “Endurance King” by Outside magazine, and “Superhuman” by Stan Lee. Ulrich's specialty is competing in extreme conditions. He has ascended the Seven Summits, including Mount Everest, all on first attempts; crossed Death Valley (on foot, in July) a record 30 times; and finished more than 131 ultramarathons averaging over 125 miles each. At the age of 57, he broke two transcontinental speed records when he ran 3,063.2 miles in 52.5 days from San Francisco to New York, averaging almost 60 miles per day.Heather Ulrich is Marshall's wife and serves as the Team Assistant Crew (TAC) for the Stray Dogs. Although not an athlete herself – although she did run the Umstead 50 and Big Desert Ultra 25 – she has felt very welcomed by the Stray Dogs and the adventure racing community, including other athletes, TACs, race and production staff, and volunteers. She was the solo TAC for the Stray Dogs for The World's Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji 2019, and was part of three-person crew for the Stray Dogs at Primal Quest, Lake Tahoe in 2003.Ultrarunning legend Marshall Ulrich and his wife Heather are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Route 66 UltraRun November 11-13, 2023. Get ready for a super-exciting and motivational episode with legends of ultraendurance racing, Mark Macy, known to many as Mace, and his son Travis. Mace is an adventure athlete extraordinaire, including competing in every one of the Eco-Challenges during its original iteration from 1995 to 2002. I would take up an entire podcast if I were to read off all of Travis' racing honors. He set the record for the Leadman, which comprises the Leadville Marathon, 10K, 50-mile bike, 50-mile run, 100-mile bike, and 100-mile run. Podiumed the Adventure Running World Championships spread out over 5 to 8 days including running, mountain biking, skiing, winter mountaineering, orienteering, ocean sailing, canyoneering, and spelunking. The Wulong Mountain Quest and Ordos Adventure Challenge: 5-day stage races in China through ancient villages, rice paddies, limestone canyons, caves, cities, deserts, and mountains. Two podium finishes at Primal Quest, America's top adventure race. He completed the 24 Hours of Moab and 24 Hours of Leadville, non-stop mountain bike races on difficult terrain. The Rock and Ice Ultra, a week-long, self-supported winter journey through the Canadian Arctic on foot and on snowshoe. If that's not exhausting enough, Travis is involved in so many areas it's mind-boggling. He penned a book called, “The Ultra Mindset: An Endurance Champion's 8 Core Principles for Success in Business, Sports, and Life,” and produces a monthly newsletter to supplement the lessons he teaches in it. He runs Macy Endurance Coaching to help athletes achieve their goals, works with Team U, an intercollegiate fundraising endurance team dedicated to improving global health and alleviating poverty. He hosts the Travis Macy Show podcast, which I highly recommend you find and listen to. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that he's also gotten into Colorado's official outdoor sport of pack burro racing. We are far from done here. Travis is now helping Mace battle early-onset Alzheimer's. As you might guess, that doesn't mean either one of them is slowing down. When first diagnosed, Mace wrote into a spiral notebook, “My name is Mark Macy, I am 56 years old and today I was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. My doctor told me to get my affairs in order and not spend time worrying about this diagnosis. He urged me to take vacations instead, maybe go on a cruise with my wife Pammy. I told him the diagnosis was bull.” Macy subsequently wrote: “Then my wife reminded me that I am 65 not 56, so maybe the diagnosis isn't completely bull.” Later he added, “I finished day one of my Alzheimer's diagnosis with a significant decision: I didn't cause this disease. I'm not embarrassed to be one of many who has it. Instead of hiding from it, I'm going to share my story with anyone who wants to listen. My family and I are dedicated to fighting this horrible disease that kills people all over the world.” Not surprisingly, Mace and Travis competed on the same team in the re-boot of the Eco-Challenge in the compelling World's Toughest Race Fiji broadcast on Prime Video hosted by Bear Grylls. Why stop there? The Macys have a new book chronicling this journey titled, “A Mile at a Time: A father and son's inspiring Alzheimer's journey of love, adventure, and hope." They are also just super-nice and engaging people. But when you hear Mace say that he's going to beat Alzheimer's, it's not a stretch at all to believe him.Next book, "A Mile at a Time: A father and son's inspiring Alzheimer's journey of love, adventure, and hope” is now available for pre-order on AmazonMark MacyInstagram @mmacy146Travis Macytravismacy.comtravis.macy@gmail.comFacebook Travis MacyInstagram and Twitter @travismacyLinkedIn linkedin.com/in/travis-macy-92607633Bill Stahlsilly_billy@msn.comFacebook Bill StahlInstagram @stahlor

Lawali Life Podcast with Alice Law | Comebacks from Stress & Loss
In today's episode I am joined by the remarkable Alex Flynn, who is an adventurist. Alex was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at 36 years old (since 2008) and decided to raise funds for and awareness of Parkinson's disease - since then he has undertaken some of the most gruelling challenges around the world. In this episode we talked all about the reality of the disease, the incredible challenges he has undertaken to raise money for Parkinson's UK and to try to find a cure. How he uses his mind to keep his body going during these challenges and how mentally compartmentalising his pain through them, is what has allowed him to achieve the things he has. “Rarely does one hear about such an inspirational and heroic Briton as Alex Flynn. The challenges he has successfully undertaken would be considered seriously hard by anyone's standards and are, in my view, independently worthy of recognition.” – Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE Alex's diagnosis became the catalyst in his life for showing people the possibility of creating positive change in the face of adversity. He can be found doing some of the more complex, unexpected and surprising challenges across the planet to raise awareness and hopefully more than £1million towards vital research to find a cure. Under the banner of a challenge entitled 10MillionMetres, Alex has completed many marathons, ultra endurance races, and triathlons, examples of which include: Completing the gruelling Marathon des Sables (250 km race across the Sahara Desert); running 160 miles across the Bavarian Alps in 52 hours; 1,457 miles from London to Rome in 30 days to meet the Pope (400 miles of which was run with a stress fractured right tibia and completing the first 20 marathons in 10 days); and becoming the first person to traverse the 3,256 miles from Santa Monica to New York using four distinct disciplines. He achieved this distance in 35 days and appeared on BBC One, One show over two consecutive nights. In 2013 he crossed 200km of the Amazon Jungle, climbed and ran 90 km of the Dolomites and 236 km across the Colorado Rockies, achieving all three within an 8-week period; On the 24th January 2014, the 10MillionMetres Challenge was completed at the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon. He had covered a distance more than 6,200 miles around the world. In the summer of 2015, he competed in the Men's Health USA Ultimate Guy Competition, successfully reaching the final nine competitors out of over 1000 including Special Forces and the US Marines. He was also honoured by the then UK Prime Minister, David Cameron. 2016 brought a new challenge of completing 5,566 press-ups in 22 days to raise funds and awareness of PTSD, which affects military personnel and first responders. Alex managed to continue for 18 days reaching total of 3,762 press-ups before his shoulder gave out. In February 2017, Alex returned from the Arctic after attempting a 450 km expedition of Sweden's Kungsleden (Kings trail) in freezing temperatures of -29°C. His participation was cut short due to Alex ripping a tendon in his right ankle. Undeterred, he continued to pull a 135lb pulk and 10kg backpack across a further 25km, including two mountain passes before the onset of hypothermia caused Alex to call it a day. In 2018, he undertook the brutal and extremely challenging Lost Islands Ultra in Fiji, flying round the world to present the Alex Flynn award for and on behalf of the Cure Parkinson's Trust and two weeks after finishing the Fiji ultra, Alex completed the Virgin Money London Marathon. In September 2018 Alex flew to British Columbia, Canada to take part in Primal Quest. As part of a team, which included five times world adventure racing Champion Mike Klosser, they took on the Primal Quest Pursuit Race across 240 miles of mountainous and challenging terrain including glaciers, and white water rapids in big Bear Country. The team completed the challenge in four days and five hours despite Alex suffering badly with Parkinson's and also a slipped disc in his neck cutting off any feeling to his right arm and hand. So far in 2020, during lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, Alex decided to take on and complete his Isolation Double Everest Challenge. The idea was simple, to raise money for Parkinson's UK, Alex would climb a vertical Marathon (26.21 miles/42.196 m) up the stairs in his house. This required him to climb and descend his stairs 3516 times covering approx 210,600 stairs. The distance vertically would be the same as 2.3 times the height of Everest. It took Alex 7.5 days to successfully complete the ascent. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, OBE, stated that Alex's effort was "Herculean" emphasising both the physical and mental strength to achieve the distance. There's more to come... Alex says: “I've decided to do this as there has to be better treatments or even a cure for a disease that robs, the young and old alike, of their independence, their ability to move, talk, swallow, have sex, write, in fact everything most people take for granted. If I told you that the youngest person diagnosed was a 2 year old boy you might come close to experiencing the anger I feel towards this disease. We have to do something!” “I want a cure for millions around the planet and hope you do too. Together we can make change happen!” #KeepMoving www.alexflynn.co.uk

The Prize Inside With Dr. Jeromy Myers D.C.,and Co-host Dr. Rachelle Myers D.C., Bunny Lindsley
Chuck Brenner- Has been a friend from the first time I met him. His passion for adventuring seeps out of him. Chuck is the reson Rachelle and I got into adventure racing. Adventure racing in my mind is a classic form of racing, with elements that are old school, similar to the people who like to use a mussel loader for deer hunting, there is a element of continual performance improvement built in the sport. He and his girlfriend Sarah (who he says got him into all this) have been adventuring in life for many years and our interview goes into some but no all of the different races and hikes that these two have done. From racing in the Grand Canyon to a 9 day Primal Quest adventure just to name a few. What is extraordinary about Chuck has nothing to do with his accomplishments, but his ability as a pure teacher. His patience Especially with a person who never stops talking:), sets him apart from so many and asking for nothing except for an appreciation of the journey is remarkable. This Podcast with Chuck I had to have a notebook and listen a second time, because of all the great information he has for all of us when we begin the journey of life's adventures. Enjoy!

Hear about the adventures of Team Tahoe at the 2015 Primal Quest and their adventure racing history. Oh, and did we mention these guys are A-game superintendents? Join Dave Wilber as he tries to drill into the heads of these two turfheads and find out what being a world class athlete, husband, dad and superintendent is all about... and making it work. I'm a new person, mentally stronger, a better leader and a better manager of the whole operatio..." -- Scott Bower, CGCS Dave also lays on a little Turfgrass Zealot wisdom about nothing being permanent, fall renewal, and holding on too tight.
