Interact with Beth, Caroline, Producer Mike, and all of the DTS listeners! GUEST BIO: henry bronchtein Henry Bronchtein was born and raised in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of three sons of a cab-driver father and a homemaker. Henry attended New York University's Tisch School of The Arts to study filmmaking. Perhaps his first big break was working on Raging Bull (1980), as the apprentice assistant director to fellow NYU alumnus, Martin Scorsese. "As a child I was an avid reader, devouring every novel and every comic book put in front of me. I am a member of the first generation to be raised on television. Growing up my favorite shows were Rod Serling 's The Twilight Zone (1959), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), I Love Lucy (1951), and The Honeymooners (1955). I particularly loved Jackie Gleason''s vision of the working-class life of a bus driver living in Bensonhurst. It not only made me laugh it seemed to illustrate and illuminate my life. "When I was sick, my mother would go to the corner candy store and buy every comic book on the stand for me. She would install me on the living room couch, in front of the TV with them. There I'd lay with a blanket, a pillow and a glass of hot tea laced with a teaspoon of cognac; this was the prescription for healing. I would rest there for hours, reading and watching television, engrossed in the worlds of drama and comedy. At an early age I experienced their ability to reach me in important ways." ### For over 35 years, Beth Kushnick has created character-driven settings for countless award-winning television series and feature films. The message is clear: The future of work will be defined by rapid technological advancement, requiring individuals and organizations to embrace adaptability as a core competency. Leveraging tools like the AQai model and fostering a supportive and agile work environment will be critical to thriving in the age of acceleration. Join me on this just released 15-minute documentary titled Pivot Power, Navigating Work in the Age of Acceleration. Directed by the acclaimed Nick Nanton, a 22-time Emmy Award Winner, this film provides profound insights from industry leaders on how organizations can navigate and thrive amidst technological advancements and AI integration. You can view the documentary here. https://adaptabilitytoolkit.com/pivot-power/ Key Theme include: Accelerating Pace of Change AI Disruption and Opportunity Adaptability as the Essential Skill The Adaptability Quotient (AQ) Key Insights and Facts: Skills Obsolescence: The half-life of skills is shrinking rapidly, with estimates suggesting that 40-80% of current skills could become irrelevant within the next 5-6 years. Company Longevity: The lifespan of companies is also decreasing. The average life cycle of a typical business model has shrunk to 2-3 years. AI Augmenting Human Capabilities: The focus should be on leveraging AI to enhance human capabilities and empower individuals to perform tasks more efficiently and effectively. Importance of Organizational Support: Companies must foster a culture that embraces experimentation, accepts failure, and provides support for employee development and adaptation. "Mushroom moments" represent the period of hidden development and growth, while "flower moments" signify the time when these advancements come to light and are widely recognized. Adaptability allows individuals and organizations to thrive in both phases, fostering continuous development and ensuring they are prepared for the "flower moment" when it arrives. The 10,000-hour-to-become-an-expert-rule is outdated because the rapid evolution of technology and information renders skills obsolete much faster. Continuous learning and adaptability are more critical than accumulating expertise in a single area over a long period.

On the latest episode of A Conversation with Host Floyd Marshall Jr., filmmakers and enthusiasts were treated to an inspiring discussion with Bobby Yan, an eight-time Emmy Award-winning director, writer, and visual effects artist. Yan's career, which began with humble beginnings in the world of music videos, has flourished into a multifaceted one that touches nearly every corner of the entertainment industry. With his unique storytelling approach and undeniable talent, Yan offers invaluable insights for both aspiring and independent filmmakers alike. From Hollis, Queens to Hollywood Raised in Hollis, Queens, New York, Bobby Yan's early experiences were steeped in the rich cultural landscape of hip hop. In the podcast, Yan shares how growing up in this neighborhood during the rise of legendary hip hop group Run DMC significantly influenced his creative voice. He later moved to New Orleans for school, where the city's vibrant music scene and diverse cultures expanded his artistic perspective. Yan's journey highlights the powerful impact of one's environment on creative development, a reminder for filmmakers to draw inspiration from their surroundings and personal experiences. Yan's passion for filmmaking was solidified after watching influential films such as School Daze by Spike Lee and Straight Out of Brooklyn by Matty Rich. These experiences helped Yan realize the potential of storytelling through film, particularly in representing the lives and struggles of marginalized communities. The Power of Storytelling and Representation During the interview, Yan spoke about the importance of diversity and representation both in front of and behind the camera. As an Asian American filmmaker working predominantly on African American content, Yan emphasized the need for filmmakers to authentically represent the stories of all communities. He believes that storytelling serves as a tool for healing and cultural exchange, allowing audiences to connect with narratives they might otherwise not encounter. Yan is especially passionate about using his platform to shine a light on underrepresented voices in the film industry. He encourages filmmakers to focus on creating work that is deeply personal yet universally relatable, and to remain committed to the craft of storytelling, no matter the challenges they may face. The Importance of Mentorship and Community Yan shared how mentorship has played a critical role in his career, particularly his relationship with legendary director Michael Schultz. Learning from industry veterans has shaped his directing approach, especially in how he manages the collaborative atmosphere on set. He advises young filmmakers to not only hone their technical skills but also cultivate leadership qualities that inspire and uplift their cast and crew. For independent filmmakers, Yan stressed the value of community. Whether through internships, collaborations, or simply networking with like-minded creatives, building a strong support system is key to thriving in the competitive world of filmmaking. What's Next for Bobby Yan? As he continues to break new ground, Bobby Yan remains as driven as ever. He is currently working on several high-profile projects, including a feature film biopic on 1970s music icon and AIDS activist Sylvester, as well as a documentary about the legendary NYC concert venue, “Sounds of Brazil,” narrated by Julian Lennon. Final Thoughts Bobby Yan's interview is a must-watch for filmmakers looking to deepen their craft and expand their understanding of storytelling. His journey, filled with lessons on persistence, authenticity, and the power of representation, serves as an inspiration to creatives at every stage of their career. ============= Submit Your Film to Our Film Collective: ifapfilmcollective.com --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aconversationwithfm/support

Today, I'm chatting with Emmy Award winner Kevin Spirtas about the debut of season 3 of his 6-time Emmy Award-winning digital series, After Forever. The show stars Kevin as Brian and Mitchell Anderson (Doogie Howser, Party of Five) as Jason, a "50-ish" gay couple living in New York City who appear to have it all -- until Jason's untimely death from cancer forces Brian to think about his future and ultimately his mortality, without the love of his life. Season three finds Brian exploring therapy as a means to help him move through his grief while he also attempts to address the idea of dating again. I've known Kevin since our early days pursuing acting in New York City when he was featured in several Broadway productions, including A Chorus Line, Meet Me in St. Louis, and was the official standby for Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz. Along the way, daytime TV fans came to know Kevin through his long-running role on Days of Our Lives as “Dr. Craig Wesley.” In 2014, Kevin ran into former Days Of Our Lives writer Michael Slade in a New York gym. Eager to create their own opportunities, the two set out to create a series about gay men over 50. In 2019, After Forever—Season 1 made history by becoming the most Emmy-awarded LGBTQ-themed drama series on any platform. Kevin received an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Digital Drama, along with three additional Emmys that he shares with Michael Slade for Outstanding Digital Drama Series 2019 and Outstanding Writing Team for a Digital Drama in 2019 and 2020. The series was also honored with a special recognition award in 2021 by the GLAAD Media Awards. Season 3 of After Forever is available now on Vimeo. Prayer, otherwise known as communication with God, is a way for anyone to ask for help, plead for forgiveness, or even offer praises to the Almighty. It can be a time to confess our sins and enter into a more intimate relationship with our creator. Prayer can also have a profound physiological effect on us, such as lowering blood pressure and heart rate and even assist in regulating our breathing. It can also help us to focus on the blessings and good in our lives, while calming our spirits.Simply put, prayer can be seen as a good thing, centering our hearts on the one who gives life and provides us with optimism in a world of negativity and pain. For more than 40 years, my guest today has entertained audiences as an internationally acclaimed media personality and musician who has won 6 Emmys, and earned two Grammy nominations. With such widespread success, it seemed only natural that he would continue to garner accolades for his diverse range of talent. But it wasn't until 2015, when he was given 18 months to live due to a cancer diagnosis that he discovered the single greatest thing in his life: how to unleash the power of prayer. With his future looking grim, my guest began to practice what he calls the “power of healing prayer”. Today, nine years later, my guest remains cancer free.Because he is such a believer in the foundational power of prayer, my guest has launched a new online course, “The Secrets to Answered Prayers.” In it, he shares what he has learned about healing prayer in hopes of helping others to develop a more powerful and effective prayer life.John joins us on the Crossmap Podcast to talk about how prayer sustained him through his own terminal cancer diagnosis. Listen as he explains how healing prayer differs from regular prayer, and shares a few tips on how to pray with more authority against sickness and disease.Links to CrossmapCrossmap WebsiteCrossmap Facebook

In a marketing world that thrives on realness and authenticity on video, the typical real estate sales pitch just doesn't cut it anymore.   The people who want to do business with us want stories and vulnerability, but many real estate professionals struggle to bring that forth in their content.   From imposter syndrome, mindset blocks around AI, to an overwhelming editing process, there are many factors stacked against us articulating our stories and value propositions. Luckily, there's a tool we can leverage to make it so much easier.   How do we overcome imposter syndrome, own our stories and articulate them to the world? So many of us are sitting on a goldmine of content, how can Camcorder AI help us make use of it?   In this episode, I'm joined by creative genius, Emmy-award winner, and co-founder of Camcorder AI, Erica Hanna. She shares how we can become better storytellers and how Prince helped her overcome imposter syndrome.    The difference between a story and a sales pitch is conflict and purpose. A story is going to have some sort of vulnerability, and a hurdle to overcome. -Erica Hanna   Four Things You'll Learn In This Episode    -How to be vulnerable on video  How does imposter syndrome harm our marketing and content creation efforts, and how do we overcome it?   -What will get you hired People don't hire the agent with the best sales pitch, they hire the agent they connect with the most. How do we use storytelling to draw people in?   -The odds stacked against AI  Because so many of us are busy and perhaps even stretched too thin, women would benefit the most from leveraging AI. Why are so many of us struggling to adopt it?   -Tap into readymade content  Many people already have a ton of great content, but the thought of going through it and editing it is overwhelming. Can AI do the heavy lifting for us?   Guest Bio   Erica Hanna, the Co-Founder of Camcorder AI, a generative ai video marketing startup based out of New York City, and Owner of Puke Rainbows Creative, a full-service video production company based in Minneapolis, is always looking towards the future. A 6-time Emmy Award Winner, her directing and producing talents have resulted in projects for clients including: Prince, Ellen DeGeneres, CBS, Mayo Clinic, and Black Voters Matter. Phil Hartman seemingly had it all. He was a regular on Saturday Night Live, becoming an Emmy Award Winner for his writing on the show. He had a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He had steady work on the popular animated series, The Simpsons. And he was enjoying the success of his new sitcom, NewsRadio. But behind the glitz and glamour, not everything was as perfect as it seemed. At home, things were about to get a little less funny and a little more...well, murder-y. Listen now to hear Karla's take on this not-so-laugh-out-loud case from our favorite decade - the 90s!
