PSV-icoon Willy van de Kerkhof is de speciale gast in de nieuwe aflevering van ‘Heet van de Herdgang’, de ED-podcast over PSV. Met presentatoren Mascha Prins, Rik Elfrink en Frank van den Muijsenberg praat Willy van de Kerkhof (73) over zijn lange en succesvolle carrière, Oranje en de huidige ploeg van PSV. Samen met tweelingbroer René behoort Willy tot de meest legendarische PSV’ers. Hij speelde 541 officiële wedstrijden voor de club, won onder meer zes landstitels en twee Europese bekers. Onder leiding van coach Kees Rijvers veroverde hij in 1978 de Uefa Cup, en tien jaar later pakte hij met het team van trainer Guus Hiddink de Europa Cup voor landskampioenen. Hij vertelt over beide succesteams, zijn speelstijl als stofzuiger en verstandhouding met Johan Cruijff. Lovend is Van de Kerkhof over Jan van Beveren. ,,Hij heeft PSV mede op de kaart gezet”, zegt de oud-middenvelder over de legendarische doelman. Van Beveren (1948-2011) speelde tien seizoenen voor PSV. De club zou een tribune naar de keeper moeten vernoemen, vindt Van de Kerkhof. Hij verhaalt ook over de twee WK's die hij meemaakte. Willy kwam in 1974 niet in actie en speelde in 1978 de verloren finale tegen Argentinië. De geboren Helmonder kijkt terug op de spectaculaire wedstrijd tussen Spanje en Nederland van zondag. Considered the most accomplished modern day British skier of all time, he has competed for Great Britain in four Olympics, seven World Championships, and he also won the Europa Cup. Dave's best World Cup result was a win at the Kitzbühel slalom, and he placed 4th at the race in November at his home ski area of Gurgl, Austria.
