Just 11 kilometres long and home to only a few hundred lucky residents, Lord Howe feels like stepping into another world, rich with rare wildlife, untouched beaches, and incredible coral reefs. I share our adventures, including our brush with fame on the tarmac as well as our discovery of the Catalina A24-381 flying boat wreck — a haunting piece of history linked to Rathmines, not far from my own backyard.  It's a place of natural wonders, and a reminder of just how extraordinary our corner of the world can be.

We had the honor of hosting acclaimed pizza chef Reggie White for his first ever podcast interview! If you thought our bread-focused episodes were intense, just wait until you hear Max and Reggie nerd out about everything from water quality to hydration to milling grains on this week's episode.Fresh from the recent opening of his Rathmines spot Reggies, we talked to the Ballymaloe alum about finding work that sparks joy; using ingredients that make you happy so the food tastes better; and the problems associated with restaurants that look at pizza as just the pathway to a high profit margin. For all the pizza nerds out there, we also discussed whether New York City really does have the best water for making pizza, the strengths of different varieties of flour, and an issue called “off-gassing,” which isn't really as bad as it sounds. In what should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, Max and Reggie also agreed that using nicer s**t is the secret to good pizza.Dyed Green is a project of Bog & Thunder, whose mission is to highlight the best of Irish food and culture, through food tours, events, and media. Enet has announced a significant new €50m+ investment in fibre networks in multiple locations around Ireland. The expansion will see Enet's fibre network connect major commercial, retail and industrial zones to increase the availability of high-capacity data transport for data centre connectivity, mobile data traffic and mission-critical business traffic. The new €50m+ investment will allow network operators and more business premises across the country to directly connect to Enet's comprehensive telecommunications network. Key focus areas include: Over 45km of new fibre networks along the north and west of Dublin city, connecting all of the major business parks which are home to the various IDC's, telehouses and multinational companies as well as 25 Dublin data centres. Enet is increasing fibre availability on the route, known as the T50, by 900% and will allow for 700 terabytes of traffic A new 10km network in North Dublin will provide fibre connections to 1000+ businesses while a new 4km backhaul and fibre infrastructure in West Dublin will provide the ability to connect a further 500+ businesses to a new high-speed fibre network — The installation of ‘Fibre To The Tower' in a range of locations — New locations are made available on Enet's customer self-serve portal as they near completion Enet, which is part of the Speed Fibre Group, has already expanded its Dublin Metro network by over 18.5km between January to May this year in areas such as Rathmines in Dublin 6 and Westmoreland Street in Dublin 2. Enet operates the largest alternative wholesale telecoms network in Ireland, which comprises of over 5,600 Km of fibre infrastructure, including the Irish State's Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), proprietary metro networks, a unique dark fibre backhaul infrastructure, as well as one of the largest licensed wireless networks in the country. Taken together, Enet's infrastructure creates a fully integrated nationwide telecommunications network that is truly open access in nature, enabling retail service providers and network operators to deliver world-class data connectivity services to their customers throughout Ireland and enabling them to connect internationally. Enet also offers carriers a wide and innovative range of world-class fibre and wireless wholesale products and services, ranging from Managed Connectivity, Infrastructure Access, Direct Internet Access and white label broadband. Peter McCarthy, Group CEO of Speed Fibre Group, the home of Enet, said: “We're delighted to announce this significant new investment as it allows us to deliver the highest quality network connections in crucial commercial areas in Ireland. By implementing critical fibre networks to provide high bandwidth telecommunications connectivity to our wholesale customers, we are supporting thousands of businesses and consumers across the country with the network capacity they need to grow and prosper. By further enabling our world-class telecommunications networks, this investment will also really cement Ireland's position as an ideal location for businesses to operate in.” Today's new investment announcement by Enet follows an agreement earlier this year with EXA Infrastructure to deliver international optical network connections between Dublin and datacentres in Europe and across the North Atlantic. The partnership covers over 40 key priority datacentres in Europe including Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Marseilles and Milan as well as a variety of North American routes on the EXA Infrastructure network, which is now the largest dedicated digital infrastructure platform connecting the two continents. Importantly, this service from Enet also facilitates the delivery of large volumes of data for datacentre workloads, including ultra-high-definition video content, Internet of Things applications and the continual rise in the usage of cloud-based applications. These are the results of your voting. You can help these artists out by following the playlists and adding tracks you love to your playlists. The newest band added to the playlist: Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer, The McDades, Syr Listen on Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube. BUY SELCOUTH BY MARC GUNN My latest CD features Sci F'Irish music. That means it is original songs fusing pop culture themes with Irish drinking songs. There are some traditional music on the album. But mostly, it features songwriting by Marc Gunn with guests including: Screeched Inn, The Muckers, Jamie Haeuser, Sam Gillogly, Nathan Deese, and Mikey Mason. Selcouth means, “when everything is strange and different, yet you find it marvelous anyway.” The album is not completely Celtic and it's not just science fiction and fantasy. It's a fusion of the two. It's heartfelt and a lot of fun. It's now on sale in my Bandcamp store. Check out Selcouth now. THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST! Claire McGovern is a sustainable interior designer, art advisor and manufacturer, whose recent work uses Irish wool as its basis, a textile she has come to see as a 'miracle fiber' and after listening to this episode you'll think so too.Claire spent her formative years in a small enclave in south Dublin called Dartry, nestled between the more well-known suburbs of Milltown and Rathmines.  Perhaps it was under the shelter of these leafy idyllic suburban surroundings that she first developed her creative flair, and a passion for nature's sustainability on a fragile, threatened planet, or perhaps this evolved on America's 'Left Coast' during her years in San Francisco.  Either way, it is all reflected in her work and in her business.   Though she learned early that she, and her family, would not always be sheltered from life's harsher side,  she has persevered, always listening to the voice of entrepreneurship inside her,  always creating beauty for the rest of us to enjoy, as she draws on the many strands of a thing called 'soft power'.Claire likes to use the word 'trajectory' when she narrates her life, describing her various physical locales, or the steps of her career.  The word connotates propulsion and flight,  up off the ground, and is an apt one for Claire to adopt.   She used Dublin and her education to catapult her to the States, all the way to the other side of if, before, in the ways of the boomerang, turning back towards the east and New York.   And that eastward trajectory is not yet done. And in New York, she has taken motherhood, that big thing, in her stride along the way.  That particular flight path also has a way to go!======================================Links of Note for Claire:Rhyme StudioDonegal Yarns–the genuine DonegalKerry Wollen MillsCushendale Woolen MillsDartryBurning ManClaire in the Irish Times (June 19 2020)The poetry of Cecilia McGovern (Claire's mum!)======================================Thanks to Purple-Planet  for music, and to FreeSound for sound FX,  and music too.Learn more about Celtic Irish American Academy.
