In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Sam Lister, a complementary therapist and yoga practitioner. Sam stumbled upon alternative practices at a young age, her love of crystals, yoga, and reiki, leading her onto a path of helping and guiding others. Sam is a huge advocate for connecting into your body, as well as the natural world around you, and working from her lakeside practice she encourages others to embrace this union. KEY TAKEAWAYSCrystals give off energy and can be used to assist with healing and wellbeing.Being in nature and using your senses allows you to reconnect to the present moment. When becoming aware of energy and developing your spiritually, it completely changes your perspective on life.Yoga benefits the body and mind and is more than just exercise.Yoga means union referring to the union between you and your higher self, between the breath and the body, and between the mind and body.Focussing on well-being helps to improve you mind and body, which then facilitates positive connections with others and the world around you.Massage not only provides relaxation but it is also good for releasing tension within the body and for removing toxins. BEST MOMENTS“I've always been a crystal fan. I got my first crystal when I was seven and haven't stopped since.”“Going back to being a child, I can remember getting this magazine and I have no idea what it was, but in it there was a bit about chakras, and you could cut out these coloured circles and it told you where to place them, lay down, place them on your body.”“Doing the Reiki training, I was blown away by the energy that you could feel in it and just how it all works. And that was sort of the moment when I was like, right, this is where I want to go with my career.”“So Reiki has been part of my life for over half of my life, which seems mind blowing to me now.”“And whether that is getting really wrapped up, or knowing that when you get home, you're going to have a big warm hot chocolate and you've got that to know that you're going to go back to warm up and be cosy and still get your fix of getting outdoors.”“Yoga does mean union. So, it's union between you and your higher self, or between you and something more, if that's what you believe in. It's the union of the breath and the body of the mind and the body.”“The connectedness and interlinking of everything, I just find amazing. And how not just physical areas of the body are connected, but how your emotions can show up in those different areas of the body.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Equipped with advanced certifications in diverse modalities like hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming, mindfulness, meditation, past life regression and many more she has honed her expertise to bring about transformative change. As a full-time therapist and trainer, Debbie's driving passion is guiding others, as well as herself, towards their best selves. Embracing the concept of holistic beings, she firmly believes in addressing the mental, emotional, physical, social, energetic, and spiritual facets of well-being and healing. Hosted on Acast. Fear drives action and action leads to direction and focus so fear can actually help us focus. It was great to hear Sam's story of how he started his entrepreneurship journey, from cutting grass when he was 14 to now having a thriving business at 20. We also talked about how entrepreneurship is a great personal development journey. His story showed to me that when you let yourself have no other option and never stop learning. You will find something that works. I've always heard the phrase ' not going to uni will be a risk ' so when I hear Sam flip that and say ' going to university was a risk' it really got me thinking. It was a great episode, we also talked about how success in life has a lot to do with how many people do you know and how many people know you. A young entrepreneur from the US that has tried out many things and failed in at least as many. Sam is currently running his company “BLNK Slate Media” and creating video content for small to Fortune 500 companies for their social media platforms. What has been very obvious in this conversation was Sam's attitude to trying out something new. His Moto is to go for what you want and invest in yourself, time and money wise and if you fail you know it was the wrong thing and then move on. As well Life-Life Balance. We all work so much so we should be doing something that we can identify with. 3 Things about Sam: - Outdoors, Snowboard, bike, Adventure and active - Video create, LinkedIN Instagram and TikTak - Snowboarding in winter with jumps and tricks; during summer longboard cruising Colour: - Mint green. 07E8B7 The colour came up when he asked a friend to help him rebrand. Sam wanted something in green, blue or teal. And then this special green came up which he liked as it reminded him of his track bike from school times. Young and running his own business: Sam had a father that is self employed and who has encouraged him to go his own way from an early age. To do what he loves. Some of his business steps were: Cutting gras for neighbours, At Age 14 Pizza Cook, then manager of the Snow Park& Ball park with 2-7 people under him. And at the age of 18 he started "BLNK Slate Media" using an iPhone and an entry DSLR His success can be traced back to: - Willingness and love to earn his own money - Going out and participating in business Networking events - Reach out to connections and learn from them and his friends - Not being shy to talk to people and saying yes even if he didn't know how to do the job - Continuously trying something new, failing and investing and not being afraid of doing so Sam gets to share his stories on how he got to his first job, made his first video and posting it to LinkedIN as well how he learned in 3 days to shoot video with a DSLR without prior knowledge and nailing the job. Creativity: Everyone is creative. Sam's creative strength is to talk. To be creative one has to be comfortable in failing while trying to create something new. It is a problem solving ability. Test, fail, try again… And repeat. Advice: Test and fail more. Spend money on yourself. This is an investment in your growth and it will cost but you'll grow. Sam for examples used all the money he earned and invested it into his growth and now his company. - Do something everyday. Momentum is everything. - Don't try 12 things in the same time. Focus on ONE thing. Go for it with all you have - Don't hire too fast. Call for action: Go and do something that is uncomfortable for you. Richie sat down with Sam Lister and Vlado Zrnic, two recent high school grads who are going about things a different way. They've both chosen to forego a traditional schooling path, and are off to a solid start. We'll talk about why they made that choice, the challenges and benefits they've been presented with, and—of course—all things Milwaukee. The moral of the story? We all learn differently, and everyone takes their own path. While heading to college may be the best route for most people, others may find a less traditional approach to schooling is the way to go. Ultimately, there's no one-size-fits-all—finding the route that's right for you is what's most important.
