When you're playing shows, there is one key element that sets the amateurs apart from the pros: the advance. Amateurs will show up entirely unprepared, sometimes even clueless, as to what is being requested if the venue asks for a stage plot and input list. Professionals will proactively send the necessary information and more to the promoter, venue, and production manager, to ensure the show goes smoothly. Listen now to learn how Robbie Litchfield of Saving Vice advances shows for his band, and why you should do the same! What you'll learn: Why advancing your shows is importantOrganizing your advance emailsWhat to ask in your advanceHow to establish a dialog with day of show contactsThe importance of making friends with the bartenders at every venueDiscussing promotional efforts with the local promoter and local bandsBeing respectful of venue and promoter guestlistsFinagling your way into getting cateringWhy good songs aren't enough these daysWhat to include in your advance packet For full show notes, visit https://bandhive.rocks/178
Let's say you're about to head out on your first real tour. Are you using a cohesive, well-branded promotional campaign, or is your tour branding a messy mix of random posters created by the locals in every market? To really make a dent and turn heads, having a well-defined brand is not an option. That's why Saving Vice plans out all of their assets in advance and makes it incredibly easy for promoters and venues to use those assets. Listen now to hear Robbie Litchfield of Saving Vice talk about digital assets, graphic design, and the marketing materials you need for your tour! P.S. there is some screen sharing in this episode - I'd recommend watching on YouTube if you can! What you'll learn: Turning a joke into a real opportunity - it works better than you expectHow Saving Vice has recovered from headliners bailing… Three timesWhat kinds of digital assets you need for a tourCreating cohesive assets to promote your showsThe benefits of hiring a designer for your graphicsWhy doing everything yourself is not the path to takeThe importance of putting business fundamentals in placeKeeping track of your to do list to get things done! Tyler from Saving Vice returns to the podcast today. The band is releasing their 2 song EP "Dichotomy" on October 7th. We dive into both "Culling Kindness" and "I, Dysmorphia" on the EP, and talk about how the band's experimentation will lead to success in the long run, and see how that has worked for bands like Bring Me the Horizon and Bad Omens. But with so many more people getting into metal thanks to Metallica and Stranger Things, we talk about being smart and understanding of all the new fans coming in. The Stadium Tour Houston Countdown continues‼️ NEW music from Saving Vice, Dirty Rotten, SevVven and more
Every band fears something going wrong on tour… From promoters screwing you over to a van crash, there are lots of things that can throw a wrench in the works. Thankfully, most tours only have one major hiccup, if any. That wasn't the case for fellow Vermonters, Saving Vice. Not only did their headliner (a rapper) bail on the tour after Saving Vice and their tour-mates Dropout Kings had driven halfway across the country, Saving Vice also had to replace the transmission in their van twice. Nonetheless, the band stayed positive with their public explanations of what was going on, ran a successful GoFundMe campaign, and salvaged roughly half the tour so they could keep playing the shows as planned once they were back on the road. Listen now to hear the incredible story from Robbie Litchfield, founding member and guitarist of Saving Vice. This is one you don't want to miss! What you'll learn: The value of staying (publicly) calm when disaster strikesHow to handle difficult situations on tourWorking hard to live by “the show must go on”Why planning for an emergency fund is vital to your survivalRestoring faith in a band's brand after a streak of canceled showsWhy renting a van isn't always a smart move if your main vehicle is down for the countHow to recover from a tour that doesn't go as plannedThe importance of planning and being ready for those plans to go off the wallWhat to look for in the future from Saving Vice For full show notes, visit https://bandhive.rocks/139

Tyler from the Vermont metalcore band Saving Vice is the guest today. The guys discuss the band's latest song Phantom Pain in great detail. From it's meaning about pain caused by something missing or how trauma pain can always come back at any time, how the instrumentals and the vocals connect the meaning through sound, and how the band will always connect with their own music. Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Saving Vice over Zoom video! Saving Vice are an independent American metalcore band from Vermont founded by guitarist Robbie Litchfield. Litchfield added vocalist Chase Papariello to the band first and then vocalist Tyler Small shortly thereafter. It wasn't until later on that the band included the final pieces of their lineup, drummer Sammy Whelton and bassist Kenjamin Smiertelny. Since their official start in 2017, Saving Vice have shared the stage with many impressive acts and played on multiple festivals such as Warped Tour, iMatter Festival and Heavy Fest. The group’s high energy live performance, catchy choruses, and hard-hitting riffs aided by the chemistry created by the vocalist duo helped them make their mark on the New England music scene and beyond. The sound, energy and personality Saving Vice have brought to the current heavy music scene is both refreshing and nostalgic. Their sound is reminiscent of classic, 2009 metalcore balanced with the modern genre trend. Emotional and melodic, yet unapologetically brutal and dark.Saving Vice commemorated their one year anniversary of their debut record 'Hello There' with the release of a brand new music video for the track "Nerve Damage" and even brought back some older merch designs. We want to hear from you! Host of ‘Scene Daddy Interviews,’ Ian Hates, speaks with Saving Vice frontman Tyler Small about recording the debut SV album, favorite shows, and more in this episode.
It's time for a very cool Ian Hates Conversations: Music Edition featuring the lead vocalists of Saving Vice, Tyler Small and Chase Papariello! It's a really exciting time for Saving Vice as their debut EP 'Colder Than Dark' came out recently, they're playing the Massachusetts date of Warped Tour, and it was just announced that they'll be playing the main stage of iMatter Festival in August!Tyler and Chase go over what the dynamic is like for them playing live, the dual vocalist stigma in Metalcore, and a whole lot more! You won't want to miss this!In fact, this is such a good conversation, it's only Part 1! Brief warning though, as you'll hear in the conversation, there are some phone issues. For one, there are a couple (and I mean only a couple) weird sounds at the beginning of the call, but, there's also an issue where when Ian talks, Chase and Tyler's side sounds "underwater" for a couple seconds. This is a very strange phenomenon, which has only happened once or twice in the history of Ian Hates. It's addressed during the conversation early, and Ian tries to not chime in as much, but that changes the timing of a "normal" conversation. So, for Part 2, Ian and Saving Vice are going to speak LIVE at Warped Tour! So check out Part 1 now and Part 2 will be on its' way shortly!
