Septically speaking we are "diving in" (okay maybe not) in a discussion about On-Site Sewer Systems (OSS). Regular listeners know Eric lives remotely and that requires certain items on the hillside to live. Commonly know as a Septic System the OSS is absolutely critical to being able to safely live in a remote (or maybe not so remote location). From laundry water, to shower water to toilet water and all it's contents it all has to go somewhere when you don't have access to a public sewer system (like most residential homes). When you draw water from a well on the same hillside, it is critical to the environment and your health that the system is functioning and performing optimally. Join as we talk CRAP, you won't WASTE your time. Donna Reed and Eric Seemann are both professional real estate agents. Donna lives and works in Tucson Arizona with Keller Williams Southern Arizona while Eric lives and works in San Antonio Texas with Keller Williams Heritage. They are also siblings, and they grew up in a small Northwest Ohio village of Lindsey. Maintaining the city's sewer system requires a lot of work, but if the city staff is doing the job correctly, you shouldn't even realize the work is being done. Today, we speak with Kevin Garner, Public Works Supervisor for the Wastewater Division, about the work his team does every day to ensure our sewer system is flowing properly. Part of this important work entails inspecting manholes and sewer access points that are considered remote and hard to reach. Since every square inch of pipe could pose a problem for the system as a whole, tracking down and inspecting every one of these is critical.Sewer systems do a dirty job no one wants to think about. But we hope you'll take a minute to listen to this episode and learn about what the City of Redding Wastewater Division does to ensure you don't have to worry about it. In fact, your local Wastewater team has been recognized as one of the best in the state.Learn more about the Wastewater Division >>Read the transcript >>Contact the City of Redding Podcast Team Email us at podcast@cityofredding.org Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Visit the City of Redding website Love the podcast? ALAMO, Texas - While listening to an incredible story from North Alamo Water Supply Corporation board member Anna Flores, Rio Grande Guardian reporter Steve Taylor stopped his interviewee to ask if she had heard of the Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force.Flores said, “no.” Taylor responded, “I think this group will want to hear from you.”The Prosperity Task Force, set up by Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez, is trying to address Hidalgo County's high rate of poverty. As part of her work in the healthcare arena, Flores visits colonias. In her interview, Flores said more and more colonias are popping up in the rural parts of Hidalgo County. She said many of the houses, if they can be called that, lack electricity, potable water or sewer system. “We run into it all the time, guys, people who don't have light, don't have water, people who have homes that are literally made out of plywood," Flores said. "It's incredible how it's still happening."Taylor put it to Flores that surely that was an issue that got addressed 20 to 30 years ago. “No,” Flores responded, “it is still happening. I can take you there.”To read the new stories and watch the news videos of the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service go to www.riograndeguardian.com.

Billions of gallons of untreated sewage flow into New York City’s rivers, creeks, bays, and canals every year, due to a flaw in an older sewer system. Though the city has made some progress, we’re entering a critical new phase of this work and advocates want a bigger role for public input. To talk about what the next part of the clean-up plan could look like, Jarrett is joined by Julie Welch, program manager for the SWIM Coalition, and Mike DuLong, senior attorney for RiverKeeper.

I’ve said many times that digestion is really two things: it’s how well we convert the food we are eating into usable nutrition, and how well we eliminate waste. That second piece is what the lymphatic system is all about, yet a lot of people aren’t even aware of the importance of this system. The lymphatics—a.k.a. your body’s sewer system—are imperative when it comes to keeping you healthy, and everyone should understand how it all works. So today, I’m going to share what you need to know about your lymphatic system, and why it's so important to keep it running like a fine-tuned machine.
