On this week's Bonus Episode, Eleanor explains the strange science of Ley Lines, from the very origins of related theories in the ancient world to the various places invisible earth energies hold in the modern consciousness. We start off talking about the very earliest versions of something we might recognise as a Ley Line appeared in writing, in the form of Ancient Chinese 'Dragon Veins,' before we unpack how natural philosophers in various fields of Western esotericism began developing theories of Ley Lines through into the 20th century, when the movement really took off. From 19th century hobbyists to 'New Age' UFO-centred theories of 'orthotenies' and magnetic earth signatures, more quantifiable ideas like infrasound and Sick Building Syndrome to dowsing and attempts by modern Druids to trace and activate new leys, it's a pretty ranging episode that throws up an awful lot of questions - as well as a surprising number of answers! Including conspiracy theories involving Nazi occultism, studies into the uncannily regular placement of department store chains, to the seeming patterns found in Black Shuck sightings, it's a conversation that joins a lot of dots.Whether those connections actually mean anything is something else entirely, of course...Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, the pair take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon, too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?Learn more at www.threeravenspodcast.com, join our Patreon at www.patreon.com/threeravenspodcast, and find links to our social media channels here: https://linktr.ee/threeravenspodcast Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Is your office building suffering from a cold? As strange as this sounds, Sick Building Syndrome is a serious and legitimate problem that can be found in buildings, like your very own corporate office. The culprit of this sickness? Tiny, invisible, airborne pathogens. These tiny villains cause infections, illnesses, and overall reduced productivity in the office. It's not just your office that's in danger though. In the hotel industry, a tiny bacteria called Legionella is commonly detected in AC vents, which can cause guests to feel ill or unrested. Even in hospital buildings, patient illnesses can become significantly worsened if exposed to these toxins, making it even more important to fend off these airborne pathogens. Hello, I am your host Mike Lake and in today's preview I will be talking with Eugenie Addison, CEO of Senzi.Me, a medical device created to detect common airborne pathogens to reduce hospitalization and death associated with airborne diseases. Youtube Video: Mold Toxicity and Mycotoxin IllnessYoutube Video: Research Review - Neural Antibodies in Patients with Symptoms and Histories of Mold/Chemical ExposuresYoutube Video: Research Review - Mycotoxins Induce NeurotoxicityI say this all the time, but mold toxicity is crazy. Indoor molds such as Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Stachybotrys produce mycotoxins, which are also crazy. Mold and mycotoxins can both disrupt the immune system in a myriad of different ways, which is why they are associated with autoimmunity in many ways.In this podcast, I didn't want to just read stats or research, I wanted to talk about the mechanisms by which molds and mycotoxins can affect the immune system, which are varied and complex. The research is out there on mold, but it can be hard to find because mold toxicity goes by several names - Sick Building Syndrome, Dampness and Mold Hypersensitivity Syndrome, Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, Mixed Mold Mycotoxicosis, Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis to name a few - and there are many different molds, and many mycotoxins. When you work with patients and you are aware of these mechanisms, mold is an incredibly common problem. It never ceases to amaze me how many people I see whose symptoms or disease timeline correlate with a prolonged exposure to water damage, a damp or moldy environment, or a history of repeated mold exposures!Mold is ubiquitous, so your body tries really hard immunologically to tolerate it, and sometimes it tolerates it for a looong time - until one day it stops tolerating it. Mycotoxins from mold can remain indefinitely in tissues, and many have an affinity for the brain, where they disrupt mitochondrial ATP production. Some molds and mycotoxins suppress the immune system, some activate the immune system, some suppress innate immune function and increase adaptive, some do the opposite. Some people have several mycotoxins present at once, doing several different things, along with other pathogens and toxins accumulating faster due to the effects of mold. You can see how mold exposure and toxicity can quickly become quite complex immunologically! Molds and mycotoxins can cause leaky gut, leaky sinus, leaky lung, leaky brain, they can deplete glutathione, impact the microbiome, increase pathogen burdens like EBV and CMV, disrupt Th1/Th2 balance, and turn on vicious cycles of inflammation (NFkB, iNOS, NO-ONOO, Th17) - - all of which are underlying mechanisms of autoimmunity. When you hear all these various mechanisms, you begin to understand why molds and mycotoxins can contribute to autoimmunity, cancer, chronic infection, and even death, not to mention the most common symptoms of fatigue, anxiety, depression, brain fog, ENT symptoms, pituitary/thryoid/adrenal/reproductive imbalances, headaches, insomnia. There are a lot of mechanisms, and there are a lot of other variables, including genetics, history, exposure, and everything else in your bucket, but MOLD AND MYCOTOXINS are one of the scariest things on the planet!

Exposing Mold - Episode 28 - The Politics Behind Sick Building Syndrome with Dr. Russell JaffeDr. Russell Jaffe is a biochemist, internist, clinical and chemical pathologist, immunologist, and Founder of ELISA/ACT Biotechnologies a clinical laboratory specializing in immunology testing. He received his education from Boston University and completed residency training in clinical chemistry at the National Institutes of Health. He authored the controversial book, “Clean Your Room." Dr. Jaffe started his career searching for deeper understanding, wisdom, evidence and insight in mechanisms of health. Dr. Jaffe sought to debunk the best known advocates of a variety of health promotion and healing systems. What started as a journey to disprove holistic forms of care became a rich educational experience that transformed Dr. Jaffe into a student and then researcher in such areas a Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, active meditation, homeopathy, and manipulative arts. Dr. Jaffe started the Health Studies Collegium, a think tank that focuses on sustainable solutions to global health needs. For the last 30 years, Dr. Jaffe has advocated a system that treats people not diagnoses, cause not consequence, and promotes long term sustainable solutions as an alternative to a system dominated by prescriptive, symptom suppressive solutions. Dr. Jaffe's cumulative experiences enabled him to take his efforts one step further and build PERQUE Integrative Health, a company that offers the world scientifically proven, integrative health solutions that speed the transition from sick care to healthful caring. He has authored nearly 100 articles on the subject and given 1,000 lectures to the world's leading institutions. He has served on the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology and coordinated its certification training program. He has been awarded as America's Top Physicians in 2005, Who's Who in America; Who's Who in Medicine and Science; Who's Who in Business and Engineering. Dr. Jaffe is the recipient of the Merck, Sharp & Dohm Excellence in Research Award, the J.D. Lane Award, and the U.S.P.H.S. Meritorious Service Award. He teaches and lectures widely on nutritional immunology and treatment guidelines for chronic autoimmune and immune dysfunction syndromes and has helped elucidate the causes and consequences of immune defense and repair functions in health and disease. In this episode, listeners learn more about the historical and current politics behind sick building syndrome, how small pilot studies can change national policy, how viral theorists dominate science, and a shocking reveal behind the workings of the CDC's Chronic Fatigue Syndrome investigator, Dr. Stephen Straus; who the CIA of the CDC is, why the NIH exists, and the people that changed American healthcare. Why You Should Listen: In this episode, you will learn about Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and steps that may lead to its resolution. About My Guest: My guest for this episode is Dr. Raj Patel. Raj Patel. MD received his Master’s degree in Physiology from Rutgers University and his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. Dr. Patel is trained to work with people of all ages with his education in Family Medicine. He has extensive experience with various natural therapies including nutritional medicine, homeopathy, herbs, and mind-body medicine. Integrating these diverse therapies with allopathic or Western medicine has enabled Dr. Patel to offer a highly refined approach to healthcare that produces lasting results. Over the years, Dr. Patel has specialized in treating patients with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Lyme and tick-borne diseases, and mold illness (or “Sick Building Syndrome”) from exposure to water-damaged buildings. While these conditions seem separate and unrelated, they share many common underlying characteristics and frequently coexist. Dr. Patel’s interest in Lyme disease started in 2004 when he was diagnosed with it after having suffered from numerous seemingly unrelated symptoms for several years. Having successfully gone through his own journey with chronic Lyme disease utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, Dr. Patel has been able to refine his approach to treating chronic Lyme sufferers with incredible success. Dr. Patel is an active member of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS). He has also completed advanced training in pediatric Lyme disease and is a frequent speaker at Lyme conferences. Dr. Patel deeply explores the impact of exposure to mold from water-damaged buildings and finds this is key to recovering many of his patients dealing with chronic Lyme disease. In episode #22 of The Alex Manos Podcast I speak with Oliver Barnett (IFMCP) on sick-building syndrome. "Occupants of water-damaged buildings (WDBs) with evidence of microbial amplification often describe a syndrome involving multiple organ systems, commonly referred to as "sick building syndrome" (SBS), following chronic exposure to the indoor air. Studies have demonstrated that the indoor air of WDBs often contains a complex mixture of fungi, mycotoxins, bacteria, endotoxins, antigens, lipopolysaccharides, and biologically produced volatile compounds." We discuss the possible testing and treatment options.
In Finland, people whose sickness is linked to certain buildings fear being labelled as mentally ill, while scientists search for evidence that their condition is ‘real’. Key Points From This Episode: How to cope with airplane travel with lower back pain. How to use your mind’s eye and visualization to create ease in your body. Use of standing desks and being an "active sitter". Acceptance of changing body needs. Deborah Beaumont is an APRN specializing in women's health, breast cancer, and breast implant illness. She discusses the politics surrounding breasts (and the traditional medical world in general) and teaches us more about breast implant illness. Deborah's Story Deborah was trained in and practiced in the traditional medical world for 35 years… before experiencing an unusual complication with cancer treatment that left her paralyzed in her left leg for two-and-a-half years. During that time, Deborah grew tired of the compartmentalized nature of traditional medical care and she was drawn to the holistic approach of Integrative Medicine. Later in life, another bout with cancer and more significant complications only solidified Deborah's passion for functional medicine. Breast Implant Illness Breast implants, as we know them now, were introduced in the 1960's, and the first implants were made of silicone. The dangers of silicone are known. There's always been some controversy, which led to a market push for saline implants, but women have been getting sick from implants since they were introduced. This is similar to Sick Building Syndrome, an autoimmune reaction some construction workers contract that can be linked to inhaling silicone. Saline implants have their own problems, including different fungus, algae, and biotoxins that are less likely in silicone implants… and even saline implants have a silicone casing, so there is still exposure to it. The politics of breast implants get tricky when it comes to reconstruction after amputation, as Deborah experienced. It's no longer considered cosmetic surgery – it's considered primary reconstruction because of amputation. Because the surgery isn't a choice, Deborah says that the grief, sadness, and anger associated with the diagnosis gets wrapped up with the implants. It's a delicate situation and everyone who is faced with the choice of reconstruction after cancer may feel differently, and there are new options being introduced over time, but Deborah wants to encourage women to pause and ask a simple question: is reconstruction right for me? -- Resources: Connect with Deborah: Website | RadicalHealthRN@gmail.com Do you want more to empower yourself through healthy living?
