We spend about 80% of our time indoors, and as concern for how bad indoor air quality can impact us grows, so does the demand for healthier, well-managed spaces. With the surge in personal technology that allows us to ‘hack our health', future innovations could see real-time information on how the air we're breathing is affecting us. Today we hear how awareness and improved biomarker technology can be used to combat sick building syndrome, creating a healthier environment that protects people, and businesses, from the consequences of bad air. Our expert guest is a medical doctor who pivoted into the world of indoor air quality after being shocked by the interplay between the built environment and asthma and allergy triggers within indoor spaces. He is the CEO of Allergy Standards and Principle at iAIR Institute, Dr John McKeon.THINGS WE SPOKE ABOUTConcerns in the medical world about sick building syndrome Being informed and using good science for progress Implementing Asthma and Allergy Standards into the built environmentFive macro trends driving new desire for healthy buildings and good IAQUsing real-time biomarkers to collect real-time data on IAQ GUEST DETAILS John is principal at the iAIR Institute, a medical entrepreneur and currently the CEO of Allergy Standards Ltd (ASL), an international standards and certification body, a company he founded while working as an Emergency Room Doctor.  As the founder he has led the development of an international intellectual property portfolio of patents and trade mark applications and negotiated complex licensing agreements with multinationals such as P&G and 3M. Stories of Inspiring Joy

Jeff Kuhn is the author of the Amazon best-selling new book, “Blue Sky Lighting: How to Survive and Thrive When Life Blindsides You.” In his book, he shares the story of his own life-threatening injury and illness. In this week's episode, Jeff shares the story of how he survived burns that covered over 80% of his body. Emergency Room Doctor's told him and his family that he had no chance of survival, but thanks to the hard work of two of the most gifted burn doctors in the world, and an incredible desire to survive, Jeff started to turn the corner after a few days in the intensive care unit. Two years and 18 surgeries later, Jeff was back on his feet and stronger than ever until a year and a half later, when lightning struck again. He came down with a neuromuscular disease which caused more pain than the burn injuries. Jeff's two near death experiences left him more mentally and physically stronger. His message is for survivors, fighters, and the individuals who have gone through unspeakable trauma, and his words will remind you that we all have an inner fire that can and will propel us forward. He tells his story with grit and determination, revisiting his experiences to give readers and listeners hope. Never backing down from the uncomfortable task of reliving his trauma, Jeff has used his story to illustrate the difficulty of overcoming tremendous odds. An inspiration for anyone facing difficulty, Jeff's words will give you insight and clarity about how trauma can make all of us into powerful warriors, fighting back against tremendous odds. Podcast guest 299 is Dr. Anoop Kumar. Dr. Kumar had a near death like experience. During his nde like experience it was like he was sitting in the middle of the sun. Anoop Kumar, MD, MMgt is an emergency physician, public speaker, author of Michelangelo's Medicine and Is This a Dream?, and a columnist for Emergency Medicine News. Anoop spent time in India and the United States as a child, and grew to appreciate the differences between these cultures. He inadvertently began developing a framework for these differences when his parents exposed him to the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, which became his playground as he explored consciousness and its relationship with identity and the world. Against this backdrop, school seemed to be lacking something critical–in depth knowledge of the nature of being human. This was the seed of Anoop's desire to communicate publicly. Anoop developed the Three Minds framework–a trans-disciplinary approach that integrates consciousness, identity, and the subjective and objective worlds. He applies the Three Minds framework to identify the specific changes needed in fields including healthcare, education, and spirituality to further advance our society. By training, Anoop is board-certified in emergency medicine and holds a master's degree in management with a focus in health leadership. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jeffrey-s-reynolds/support

Old Capital Real Estate Investing Podcast with Michael Becker & Paul Peebles

Thomas & Timothy Black are brothers and principals at Napali Capital, LLC.   Napali Capital acquires and operates Class B & C apartments. Tim recently retired as the chief operating officer for GREAT WOLF LODGE corporation.  Tom is currently an EMERGENCY ROOM DOCTOR that also helps physicians and other high-income professional overcome career crisis by teaching them how to expand their personal net worth through passive income real estate.  What a combination! These brothers have something going for themselves.   Why should doctors look into investing in commercial real estate?  Tom reflects on the high rate of burn out with critical care professionals.  In the last three years…6 in 10 emergency room doctors are burned out with the excessive amount of hours worked, government intervention, lawsuits, patient satisfaction and declining insurance reimbursement.  Tom acknowledges that physicians have high income, but they have limited personal net worth. Typically, physicians are not financially savvy due to the time that is needed to learn and master their medical craft. What medical school fails to teach doctors, Dr. Black educates. Tom’s newly released book is called “The Passive Income Physician.”  Tom shares a memoir/ guidebook that helps high-income professionals understand how passive income through commercial real estate investing can help buy back your freedom. The book has a very “Rich Dad / Poor Dad” theme.  Contact Tom & Tim Black at http://freedomintheblack.com/author/tomblack/  “The Passive Income Physician” is at https://www.amazon.com/Passive-Income-Physician-Surviving-Expanding/dp/0692827404  To receive our FREE 15 page WHITE PAPER REPORT on the 2017 FUNDAMENTALS OF MULTIFAMILY FINANCING 101 and to learn more about upcoming events at Old Capital Speaker Series please visit us at OldCapitalPodcast.com Are you interested in learning more about how Multifamily Syndications work?
