Pay as you go cartel以及Big Apple Records周边,和dubstep基本是平⾏发展的; Dizzee Rascal 的专辑”Boy In Da Corner”(2003) 是我们的最爱! 法国的雷鬼乐应用其实非常多,从80s末开始的法国说唱就有很多牙买加元素,欧洲的跳舞音乐好多也是雷鬼的节拍; 德国dub techno的开创者Basic Channel是资深雷⻤乐爱好者,他们化名的团体Rhythm&Sound有着最顶级的⾳响,俩⼈还有个公司专⻔再版⽼雷鬼,把Wackies公司介绍给了更多听众; Playlist: Massive Attack - “Blue Lines” T99 - “Anasthasia” Rebel MC - “Street Tuff” Soul II Soul - “Back To Life” Björk - “Crying” Fun ‘Da' Menta - “English Breakfast” Dizzee Rascal - “Fix Up, Look Sharp” Big Red - “Red-Emption” Rhythm & Sound with Jennifer Lara - “Queen In My Empire” CJ Lewis - “R To The A” 老林特意为节目挑选的 Spotify 歌单:

"There needs to be a mechanism in place so that sampling is no longer a controversial issue and that all musicians are fairly compensated for their work." - Philo FarnsworthIn this episode of MFM Speaks Out, Adam Reifsteck interviews an electronic musician and founder of sampling record label Illegal Art who goes by the alias Philo Farnsworth about the use of samples in recorded music. the label gained immediate notoriety from legal threats surrounding Deconstructing Beck, a compilation made exclusively from sampling Beck's music. While Philo believes that the use of samples of music copyrighted by other artists is an expression of artistic freedom that does not co-opt or compete with the original music, there is a crucial difference between bootlegging/piracy and in the creative transformation of existing culture into new and original works of collage. Nevertheless, this obviously creates a bit of a dilemma in that the copyright holders should be compensated for the use. The solution will require both legislative and technological mechanisms for copyright clearance so that musicians and sound artists can be unhindered in their pursuit of furthering the art form of sampling. Other topics discussed are the evolution of Philo's music through the use of modular synthesis and his latest collaboration with the improvisatory ensemble the Shoshin Trio.Visit Illegal Art at http://illegalart.netThe following music featured in this episode are:Opening track: "Once Again" by Girl Talk, from the album Night RipperMiddle track: "Lesson 2 (James Brown Mix)" by Steinski, from the album What Does it All Mean (Disc One - Retrospective)Ending track: "Part 1, In Gratitude" by Yea Big and Shoshin Trio, from the album The Shape of Emptiness Now

Two records from 1983 achieved minor novelty fame, and then faded away, only to emerge 20 years later as the originators of a curious genre of pop music in the age of social media. This peculiar genre raises questions about how we should think about genre, musical aesthetics, and artistry in the time of industrially-produced music and digital reproduction. Guest voices include Jordan Roseman, aka DJ Earworm, Steve Stein, aka Steinski, philosopher Chris Bartel, and musicologist Christine Boone. Learn more about your ad choices. We're lighting up the grill tonight. The days are long, the air is warm (when it's not raining) and the summer time vibe is in effect! For your BBQing soundtrack we start off with some feel-good hiphop courtesy of Steinski & Double Dee doing a Sugarhill megamix. Ozomatli keeps the smile on your face with the Cut Chemist suite - the grill is beginning to smoke. A few pinches of soul from DJ Format, 2econd Class Citizen and RJD2 for the beats marinading in the fridge. The coals are hot by the time Pepe Deluxe and Z-trip & Radar hit the grill with their searing beats and heavy distorted rock riffs. Juices are flowing off the steak after The Slew and Z-Trip's classic rock mashup cook us just right. Then the Beasties let us know it's time to eat as their heavy beats finish off the party. This is the big one! I'm a huge fan of cut-ups, Double Dee and Steinski and the whole (unofficial) lessons series being the best examples.
