Today, we're diving into a rerun from 2023 with the incredible Steve Gamlin. Steve's story is one of transformation, self-discovery, and a whole lot of laughs. Imagine having a successful 10-year radio career, only to find yourself struggling with self-image and confidence. That's where Steve found himself, and oh boy, did he turn things around! Steve reinvented his life by managing his mindset, crafting his journey, and optimizing his daily routines to build the life he truly wanted. He's an amazing storyteller, and his journey is nothing short of inspiring. But before we dive into Steve's world, this is just a quick reminder to check out the awesome resources at Life Passion and Business. We've got over 500 interviews, short casts, and focus coaching to help you find your path. Now, back to Steve. Growing up in the Northwest US with a beautiful childhood, Steve dreamed of being a radio DJ, a comedian, and a teacher. He hit the radio waves but found it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Despite achieving his childhood dreams, the journey was rocky, with a lot of life crashes and reinventions along the way. Steve's story is filled with moments of humour, like the time he challenged a thunderstorm on a golf course, leading to a life-changing conversation with a life coach. That conversation sparked his journey into motivational speaking and comedy. Today, Steve hosts the Motivational Firewood podcast, helping people create positivity through visualization and humour. His message? Success isn't about flashy cars or big houses; it's about being the best version of yourself and spreading positivity wherever you go whether it's through teaching others to visualize their goals or simply leaving a situation better than he found it, Steve's all about making a meaningful impact. About Steve Gamlin What qualifies Steve to speak on Visualization, Vision Boards, Positivity, Motivation, Humor and 'Life Comebacks'? Simple: HE LIVED IT. After blowing up his life (radio career, 1st marriage and financial stability) at age 35, Steve rose from the ashes (although he swears 'his' phoenix rides a pogo stick) to become a motivational speaker, stand-up comedian, author and more...inspired by 2 simple questions from a coach...after Steve spent an afternoon hitting golf balls in a thunderstorm, daring the lightning to hit him. Steve Gamlin has a great sense of humor. And he applies that to his life. Steve's journey began with a childhood dream to become a radio DJ, a stand-up comedian, an author, and a teacher—but not in the traditional sense. Fast forward through the years, and Steve has realized each of these professions. However, the road was far from smooth. He describes his challenges as “dumpster-sized potholes,” which included a career burnout, a divorce, and a significant debt that led him to move back with family at the age of 35. What makes Steve's story so compelling isn't just the setbacks he faced but how he rose from them. With the help of a life coach and an unusual yet cathartic experience at a driving range during a thunderstorm, Steve found clarity and laughter in the midst of turmoil. This moment marked a turning point, leading him to pursue motivational speaking and stand-up comedy, aligning with his childhood aspirations. Throughout the episode, Steve shares his insights on rebuilding life after loss, the power of vision boards, and the importance of journaling and gratitude. His tale is peppered with humor, from skydiving mishaps to the serenity he found in the silent sky. Steve's story is not just about the bumps in the road but about the journey of self-discovery and the joy of helping others. He emphasizes the significance of surrounding oneself with positive influences and the strength found in humility and connection to nature. This episode is more than just a narrative; it's a blueprint for anyone looking to overcome adversity and find meaning in their life's journey. Steve's infectious spirit and insightful anecdotes will leave you motivated to tackle your own “bumps in the road” with courage and a smile. Tune in to this episode to witness a story of transformation that will inspire you to laugh, reflect, and perhaps even dare to dream again. When the world seems awash in cynicism, a conversation with someone like Regina Andler can be a beacon of hope. Our heartfelt discussion with the founder of Autumn Ascent Consulting isn't just about the tangibles of business success—it's a deep dive into the soul-enriching principles of kindness and the pivotal role it plays across our professional and private lives. Regina brings her experience to the table, reminding us of the immeasurable value a good consultant or coach can have in guiding us toward our goals, with tales of corporate beginnings and the transformative power of a helping hand.Amidst the laughs and shared memories, including a charming tale involving our pal Steve Gamlin and time management, this episode also dares to tackle the heavier side of humanity. We unravel the fabric of kindness, not as an occasional gesture but as an intrinsic mindset that shapes our interactions and decisions. Personal stories illuminate our discussion, from how Boy Scouts and classic cartoons shaped our early understanding of altruism to the inspiring work done through Beach Bum Philanthropy and Isaiah 58. It's about the deeply rooted desire to lift others up, challenging the sometimes skewed portrayal of kindness in social media landscapes. Our final thoughts resonate with the need for empathy and action toward some of society's most pressing issues, such as homelessness and the struggles faced by the elderly. By debunking myths about homelessness and examining the harsh realities through personal anecdotes and compelling statistics, we underscore the necessity of community involvement. Touching upon proposed legislation for work-life balance and the beautiful difference we can make in the lives of seniors, this episode is an impassioned call to action—a reminder that each of us has the capacity to leave a mark on the world through our kindness. Join us on this journey and discover how you, too, can contribute to a kinder, more connected community.Do you dread Mondays? Does the thought of another Monday steal the joy of your weekend? Are you someone who uses self-deprecation to get laughs?Steve Gamlin was too until a pivotal moment when his friend Kris figuratively put on a pair of steel toe boots and kicked his ass and woke him up to the dangerous effects of doing that. Steve was raised to believe in the value of hard work. When Steve was 7, his dad bought their house and started remodeling it, one room at a time. All the Gamlin kids pitched in – helping with the remodeling, yardwork, and before Steve was ten years old he was clearing brush and chopping firewood.Additionally, Steve's mother instilled in him a love of reading and writing. When Steve was 11, he decided he wanted to be a radio DJ, a standup comedian, an author of books, and a teacher of people - but not in a classroom. To inspire and coach people. When he was 24, he landed his first radio station job. His dad gave him sound advice, “You got your foot in the door, now bust your ass so you don't get thrown back out the door!”For over a decade, Steve worked in radio 50 to 60 hours a week, going through several jobs as radio stations were bought out and the new management fired the old crew. After 10 years of this stress, he walked away, emotionally, physically, and spiritually exhausted. When his marriage ended shortly after that because of poor communication since he was never home, he found himself $62,000 in debt. Soon after, a mentor helped him triple the revenue from his weekend event DJ business in just two years. But he was still beating himself up for the decisions he'd made in those previous 10 years. As I mentioned a moment ago, he'd started speaking on stages and was incorporating a lot of self-deprecating humor. After that conversation with Kris, he started learning how to continue using humor, but not at the expense of his self-esteem. Along the way, he created Vision Board Mastery, a unique approach to vision boarding you've likely not heard before. This one consists of 10 steps but doesn't involve selecting the photos of your lifestyle for the board until Step 7. There's a reason for that. Oh, and you'll also hear how a random email led Steve to find the love of his life. Are you ready to hear more?Steve's hype song is "Happy" by The Rolling Stones.Resources:Steve Gamlin's website: https://stevegamlin.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevegamlin/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Steve.Gamlin.Author.Speaker.MotivationalistInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stevegamlin/ X (formerly Twitter): https://twitter.com/SteveGamlin Claim your access to Steve's FREE "Visualize in 5" video: http://VisionBoardSpecial.com Invitation from Lori:If, like Steve, you find yourself stuck in burnout, exhausted in every possible way, and struggling to create a vision for your dream life, the 5 Easy Ways to Start Living The Sabbatical Life guide is for you.Once you read it, you'll ✅ Discover a counter-intuitive approach to making intentional changes in mindset and lifestyle.✅ Learn how to own your feelings and your struggles so you can address them.✅ Find out how to face fears, step out of your...

Steve shares his personal evolution toward giving back through Beach Bum Philanthropy, starting from a modest vow to donate a part of his earnings and growing into a substantial, heartfelt mission. It was one of Steves's dreams to be a teacher of people; it was right up there along with Radio DJ, stand-up comedian, and an author. It has been a journey, but he has achieved them all. Our conversion is a recovery journey, not from the usual addiction or problems but from self-depreciation. There is power in what we think, believe or say about ourselves. It is the difference between enjoying or enduring this life journey. My guest this week is Steve Gamlin, who had a wonderful childhood in the northeast of the US, with great parents, family and friends and incredible memories. It was then that he had those life-shaping dreams: the Radio DJ, Stand-up comedian, an author and a teacher. “I've managed to enjoy them all, now I have crashed and burned between them, but the seeds and the ashes one always led to the next.” He went to college doing four years in business studies, scraping his graduation. It did not work for him; he left with his confidence crushed and no self-esteem, broke and sleeping on his grandfather's sofa. The impulse to take action. A caring friend asked about his radio dreams, which gave him the impulse to act. He borrowed $4000 from his grandfather and did an 8-week broadcasting course, leading to an internship that started a ten-year radio career. As you will hear, radio is not all it is cracked up to be, but it is not a healthy environment when you are in the public domain and struggling with self-image. Steve has achieved all of his dreams from his 11-year-old self, although, in his words, he had to burn his life to ashes every time. Becoming a teacher of people What you will hear in this conversion is a man with a lovely radio voice who has turned his life around by carefully managing his thinking. Steve optimises his daily routines to create the life he wants to live. He hosts the motivational Firewood podcast and works with people to create a back-to-basics positivity through visualisation & humour. Steve is the teacher of people he always wanted to be. Helping people build the necessary mindset to identify their goals, feel sound and smell like. People often focus on the mindset that being successful is depicted on the material items you own. The real success comes from your heart. There's a difference between being rich and being wealthy. The rich have money, yet they spend it to keep up socially. The wealthy endure the journey of pain and brokenness to keep up with integrity and are continually reinvesting back in their people and into the world. Steve Gamlin is an Author, Speaker, Coach, and Creator of Vision Boards Mastery. Steve endured severe adversity in 2002 by losing everything he had; His wife at the time, his job, and his life. Since then from about 2003 up to now Steve has been living his life focused on 8 major areas. It all started when Steve recognized the importance of having a life coach when he decided to build himself back better. In this episode Jeff and Steve will be discussing what it means to be a visionary. A girl desperately wants to be a professional soccer player when she grows up. Even at a young age, she puts in hours and hours of practice in her backyard. She is the first to start practice and the last to leave. Nothing will prevent her from achieving her goals. As she grows, she joins more prestigious teams and plays a game almost every weekend. She continues to train hard and maintain her other obligations, as she finishes high school. Unfortunately, she experiences an injury that puts her in the hospital. She can't play soccer anymore. However, that is not an option. She goes to physical therapy and continues to heal. She will play again. Years down the line, she is playing for a national team. Her dream came true. She hopes to inspire other little girls who have the same dream. The fact that she had the internal determination was the first step of achieving her goals. However, what were the external factors that got her to where she wanted to be? Her parents would wake up a half hour earlier than her in order to get her ready for early morning practices. They helped pay for the medical bills when she was injured. They dealt with whatever obstacle their daughter may not have seen in order to give her the best chance at success. When reviewing your personal story of growth and success, what were the factors that helped you achieve your goals? Were you as equally determined as a young girl with a dream? Are you aware of the external influences that impact your story? Tune in as Casey Berman, LaChelle Adkins, Caleb Pearson and Oleg Lougheed explore ways to identify external influences that impact your story other related topics. *** Join Casey Berman, Steve Gamlin, Nancy John, Scott Mason and many others at, “Survive to Thrive: Face Your Fears”, 3-day life changing event in Austin, TX, September 23 - 25, where you will take a deep dive into your fears and origins. https://www.overcomingodds.today/survive-to-thrive-live-face-your-fears
The day has come. The day you have dreaded for weeks. You cannot imagine a fate worse than this. Today, is your friend's birthday party. They have chosen the most unholy and horror provoking event to celebrate their new year. They have decided to take all of their friends to an amusement park. For most people, this may sound like the most fun any person could have for a few hours. To you, it is the gut dropping, mind numbing, personal hell that has been hoisted upon you. You have had a fear of roller coasters ever since you saw a movie with people falling from the ride. You cannot get the image out of your head. Your friends encourage you to try the largest and fasted ride with them. You protest and explain that you would rather stay behind. They insist that you muster the courage and join them on this momentous occasion. Eventually you acquiesce. You sit in the little train. You are buckled up. The seat protector is secure. Moments later, the train starts its ascent. You feel your heart sink into your stomach. You are not ready for this. You want to get off. But, it is too late. As the train starts to twist and turn and you scream with your friends, you feel a release you had not expected. By the time the ride is over, you feel exhilarated. In fact, you want to go again. You have mastered your fear. In this vignette, an individual fears an amusement park ride and eventually learns to love it. Not everyone has this exact experience, but there are times when fears turn into joys and something once avoided is now sought after. Are there hidden benefits to doing something you once feared? Are the things we fear the most, the things we want the most? Join Oleg & Steve Gamlin as they discuss how their fears turned into their greatest desires.
