On the Saturday December 21, 2024 edition of The Richard Crouse Show we'll meet Bette Reynolds. She's Everyone's Favourite Granny and if you've been on line in the last few months—and who hasn't?—you probably saw her performance on The Voice UK. Earlier this year she became the show's oldest contestant ever when she did her rendition of The Sugarhill Gang's, Rapper's Delight in an effort to get coaches Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am, LeAnn Rimes and Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones to turn their chairs. She became a sensation, and she joins me today top talk about being on the show, doing a duet to Black Eyed Peas, I Gotta Feeling, with the song's writer Will.i.am and her new Christmas single “Grandma's Christmas Escape.” Then, we'll take a deep dive into Christmas horror stories with author Joshua Millican. Over the past decade-plus, Millican has proven himself to be a horror expert of the highest caliber. He is one of the genre's premiere journalists, and today we'll talk about the best Christmas horror movies and his two new books, “All Through the House: The Novelization” and “Chopping Mall: The Novelization.” Finally, I'll share my conversation with one of the world's most successful music stars, Robbie Williams. He found fame as a member of the pop group Take That from 1990 to 1995, launching his mega successful solo career in 1996. By 2008, he had sold more albums in the UK than any other British solo artist in history and right now his record sales stand at over 77 million worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time, and now his wide ride to fame has been captured in a new movie called Better Man, which comes to select theatres on Christmas Day before opening wide on January 10.

Matt talks about his favorite party songs to get the party started and includes the last song to end the event. Important Links View the complete list of best party songs. See all Wedding Songs Podcast episodes   Podcast Transcript Welcome to the 84th episode of the Wedding Songs Podcast. I am Matt Campbell and today I am going to have one of my favorite, and I know everyone else's favorite, topics. Best party songs. These may not be the best songs to get everyone out on the dance floor (although I am going to include those also), but these could also be background songs as well. And, also songs that are trending right now. If you prefer to read the list or listen to the list, you can do so on our website MyWeddingSongs.com. While you are there make sure to sign up for our monthly newsletter. In it, we tell you about all the new songs released in the prior month and also great trending songs and forgotten hits you can play on your wedding day. This episode is going to be a little bit different, I am not going to include song lyrics because I am just going to go thru the 200 songs just to categorize those by genre and a couple of events as well (I will get to that in just a second). So, speaking of starting off, I am going to start off with 37 songs I think could really get everyone out on the dance floor. They are party songs and ones that you want to make sure you at least have in your music library. The first one is “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston, “Yeah” by Usher, “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, the great Disco song. “Fergalicious” by Fergie, “Get Low” by Lil Jon, and the East Side Boyz featuring Ying Yang Twins, and “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. This one is exploding recently because it is in a car commercial. “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, “We Found Love” by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris. This is a great song to really get the party started and get everybody excited. Next is “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas and “September” by Earth Wind and Fire. One of the great dance songs of all time. “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and the newer song, “About Damn Time” by Lizzo. “Shut Up And Dance” by WALK THE MOON. There are a few Michael Jackson songs we can have on the list, but it seems like “Billie Jean” is on everybody's playlist. “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins with the right crowd, and “C'Mon ‘N Ride It (The Train)” by Quad City DJ's, which came out in the '90s and will get everybody doing the train around the dance floor. Next is “The Humpty Dance” by Digital Underground who recently lost their lead singer. “Get Down On It” by Kool and The Gang and “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot. “Hey Ya!” by Outkast, and “Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks is the first Country song on the list, which is a sing-along song you can have on your list. “Timber” by Pitbull featuring Kesha, “No Hands” by Waka Flocka Flame and Roscoe Dash featuring Wale, “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars, and of course the “Cha-Cha Slide” by Mr. C if you want to have a group dance song, along with the next son “Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid. “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex and “Hot In Herre” by Nelly. One of the great party songs, “Shots” by LMFAO, and the second Country song, “Fishin' In The Dark” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Listen to the lyrics to make sure they are Wedding appropriate if you are going to play it at a wedding and your Wedding couple is OK with it. “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, “Time Of Our Lives” by Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo. Another group dance song , “Wobble” by V.I.C., “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, and “Shout” by The Isley Brothers or by Otis Day. It is up to you which version you prefer. It is just a great group dance song you can have. “All The Small Things” by Blink-182. And finally, “Boogie Shoes” by KC And The Sunshine Band. So that is just to get things started off. Next up let us talk about 10 songs for slow dance songs starting off with “Tennessee Whiskey” ...

Bissen on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 11am PST 10/04/22 About Bissen - Hot off his second mix compilation album, a continuous US tour, a slew of major label remixes for the likes of M83, Madonna, Depeche Mode, Major Lazer, Jojo and Ruth B, two Beatport Top 10 hits over the last couple year with his project Exostate, and a slew of upcoming releases in the pipelines, German-born, New York residing Georg Bissen has never been busier making his mark in the world of EDM. Bissen has created some of the biggest dancefloor smashers in the club scene in recent years, all while also designing sound presets for Ableton Live, Sample Logic and others, writing music for adverts for some of the world's biggest brands, doing sound design and composing for major TV networks, and running his own music licensing, production and publishing business.   Storming the scene almost a decade ago with the now classics "Exhale" and "Quicksand," Bissen has, as a dance music artist and producer, had over a hundred original and remix releases since. These records have been released on some of the biggest, most desired and well-respected labels in the industry, including many of the major label imprints. Always in pursuit of a fist-pumping, "all systems go" attitude, Bissen's sound exhibits an effective blend of tough, energetic beats and grooves, coupled with extremely memorable, big melodic riffs and hooks--proper huge tunes for dancefloors, not armchairs, that have lasting impacts on clubgoers and DJs alike. Bissen creates one club banger after another, from his remix of the Black Eyed Peas #1 song "I Gotta Feeling", which was one of Ibiza's summer anthems of 2009 and received extensive UK BBC Radio1 play, to 2011's "2nite U R Perfect", which was one of the year's most memorable club songs, being featured on German and US FM radio, as well as on DMX, reaching millions of shoppers every day; to 2016's remix of The Chainsmoker's "Don't Let Me Down", which got extensive club and US terrestrial radio play, especially on New York's 103.5 WKTU.   2011 saw Bissen start up his project "Exostate" with singer Jeza for Enhanced Recordings, 2 out of 3 singles released so far reaching the Beatport Top 10. In late 2012, along with long-term collaborator Victor Dinaire, Bissen embarked on doing remixes for major artists and labels, starting with the French art rock band M83's "Steve McQueen", received to much critical acclaim, as well as Major Lazer and Flux Pavilion's "Jah No Partial", which went top 25 on the Billboard club charts. With a remix in 2014 for Bingo Players' “Knock You Out” the duo helped propel the release to #1 on the Billboard Club charts, scoring their first #1 record on that chart. Dinaire and Bissen have since lent their hands to dozens of remixes, helping releases chart in the top 10 of the Billboard Club Play Charts numerous times since 2014, with 5 additional #1s so far. In 2016, Dinaire+Bissen remixed Ruth B "Lost Boy", which went into summer-long regular rotation on terrestrial US radio, including WAPE Jacksonville and KKHH Houston.   In 2015, alongside Victor Dinaire, Bissen scored the documentary “Glory Daze: The Life and Times of Michael Alig”, which documents the heyday of New York clubbing in the 90s. The soundtrack is an authentic representation of the classic New York club sound of the mid 1990s. The movie saw a North American release in 2016 and can currently be viewed on all major streaming portals as well as on Netflix. In 2016 Bissen started working closely with renowned DJ Tony Moran. Their collaborative effort has spawned over 2 dozen works, including many original records for Moran, as well as joining together for a few remixes. Bissen eventually produced and co-produced over half of Moran's latest double-sided album "Mood Swings." The two updated a cover version of the 90's Lighthouse Family “High” as a charity song for the 2016 Orlando club shooting massacre victim's families.   As a DJ, Bissen delivers his no-nonsense approach with exciting and uplifting sets. He boasts over a decade of spinning experience, beginning in college, and continuing in New York, where, for years he djayed at loft parties, which he helped organize. Since 2011, Bissen has seen his international DJ career soar, playing in the UK, Germany and Canada, as well as filling clubs all over the US, including Los Angeles (Circus), San Diego (Hard Rock), Philadelphia (Rumor), Orange County (Sutra) and of course New York, where he currently plays about once a month-- from big rooms such as Pacha and Webster Hall, to more intimate venues, where he can experiment with and debut new tracks.   In September 2012 Bissen celebrated the 100th episode of his radioshow and podcast "TranceAtlantic" live at the National Underground in New York. The 8-hour event was broadcast live on ETN.fm. TranceAtlantic is well past its 300th episode now, and is currently broadcast weekly on iHeartRadio, ETN.fm, 1Mix Radio, Party 103, Interference Radio and Party 107, with more syndications forthcoming.   A full-time music professional, Bissen has written and collaborated on close to two thousand pieces of music and projects in his decade-long music career. Bissen got his start in the music business when he moved to New York City to work as a composer and engineer in the music for advertising industry. In this episode, I'm talking with Christy Metcalf. Christy is the founder and President of C.E.O. Learning Systems. A family tragedy shaped her life, teaching her the importance of courage and perseverance. It also presented her with what she called a planned or arranged career. And she followed that plan, executed it perfectly and ended up miserable. So she used the courage that had been instilled in her and became an entrepreneur. We chat about who supports you when you make decisions that don't fit other people's expectations of you, using visualization to lay out your future, and the importance of getting in tune with your thoughts and feelings. Because your thoughts direct your feelings, your feelings, direct your actions, and your actions direct your results. And then we get into what happens when you let emotions control you, what does failure even mean, and finding joy in your zone of genius. I can’t believe we are almost half-way through the amazingness of the 12 week Reverse Your Insulin Challenge! I’m having a lot of fun showing up on YouTube, IME Community podcast and every day on TikTok doing videos and coaching on TikTok Live. If you have been participating, let me know how it’s going. You can email me at drkarlaactivistmd@imecommunity.com. Are you a teen or parent of a teen who wants to LevelUp and Join IME member Community to have access to my coaching on zoom? By the way, I’m thinking about all of you as you are headed back to school. This morning was my son’s first day of High School and also his 15th birthday. He’s so hilarious. I have three very funny kids. It’s weird to call them kids since they are 20, 17 and 15. I hope your school year gets off to a great start. I’m sending lots of positive vibes out into the world to you. Also, I’m thinking about everyone and COVID as we are in another very serious wave of the pandemic. Health systems are completely stressed, ICU’s are full across the country, and it’s very serious. I want to encourage you to get the vaccine if you are able to. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone. This is so very tough. Last week was Week 5, “I Gotta Feeling” where I taught you to give yourself permission to feel your emotions instead of buffering with food. What an important skill. I love “More than a feeling” by Boston. Each week builds on the next, but you can start this week and get going on slaying your goals and learning the truth about your body’s natural weight set point. I wasn’t planning on addressing this, but there’s so much confusion, especially on TikTok, where creators are saying you are stuck at your current weight. Nope. Nope. Nope. Now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with staying at your current weight. Let’s drown out our society’s ridiculous noise that perpetuates diet culture and isn’t healthy mentally or physically for any of us. So, if you don’t want to make changes. No problem. You get to decide. If you do want to create a healthier life, you can start wherever you want. Fueling our bodies with healthful balanced food that serves us is possible and there’s some great data about that. I recently saw an article in the NYT about a recent study out that looked at metabolism and is disrupting what we thought about metabolism as we age. So cool! There are four stages of metabolism in our lifetimes. This study is definitely disrupting the status quo thinking about metabolism. There’s only a handful of us doctors across the country and actually, globally, who are disrupting what doesn’t work. We don’t take sponsorships or ad money. There’s some amazing data. There’s so much frickin’ confusion out there, it makes me want to pull my hair out. Listen to experts, especially those of us physicians who are willing to speak out, say where healthcare has gone wrong, and are helping as many as people as possible to create a healthier path. What’s also powerful, is that there are some of us physicians who have also gone through our own weight loss journey. The importance is the focus on metabolic health and reversing insulin resistance. You can check out the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners website at smhp.org. I’m a founding member and proud of it. Our bodies are status quo homeostasis machines. Our bodies adapt to what we are fed. Sure, it’s more complex than that. Making the change to cut back on processed carbs and then being consistent over time is going to show some major improvements in your metabolic health and help you to reverse insulin resistance. Let’s get to goal slaying. So, I’m a major goal slayer. My top strength is Activator and I can grind out a goal with diligence and persistence like nobody’s business. I can also make it pretty grueling on myself. I’ve learned the tools of self compassion and I created Make it fun to get it done and learned that goal slaying can be fun and also it’s not being hard on ourselves that works. It’s self-love superpower. When you learn to be kind to yourself no matter what and have your own back, it’s so powerful. You can do anything. All of this is practice. I’ll tell you the secret to any goal I’ve slayed. The key to any goal slaying is staying with your vision. It’s an elevated approach. It’s not about the how. It’s like looking up and taking a 40,000 foot view. You are the butterfly and not the caterpillar. Expect to feel self-doubt, confusion and overwhelm, fear of failure, victim and lots of discomfort along the way. There’s nothing going wrong. Discomfort is the currency of our dreams. Let’s get going with the week! Monday Goal Slaying Motivation: Choose the goal that commands your attention! What’s your biggest pain point? What’s the biggest obstacle in your way? What’s the trade off? Experience temporary discomfort now while achieving your goals and dreams or the long-term discomfort of not achieving your dream? Choose Your Goal Tuesday : Pick a 30-day goal. Choose one goal at a time. I’m sure you’re really excited, but choosing one goal at a time is very important. Otherwise, you will most likely indulge in overwhelm and that will keep you from taking action on any of your goals. Choose a goal that motivates you, so how important is achieving this goal and is there value in achieving this goal? How does this goal fit into the bigger picture of my life? Am I interested in the outcome? Drink more water? Cut back on processed carbs? Crush your sugar cravings? Work on self-trust eating? Get more organized? Increase your fitness? Get better sleep? What’s your goal and why do you want to achieve it? Why will I do it no matter what and who has your back as you are reaching your goal? SMART Goals Wednesday: What’s a measurable goal? You get to decide how you measure your success. What’s SMART stand for when it comes to setting goals? SMART is an acronym used for any type of goal setting. SMART goals help set you up for major goal slaying success! SMART stands for Specific (make your goal clear and figure out exactly where you will end up when you have achieved your goal) /Measurable (It’s important to figure out how you will measure your success so that you know when and can celebrate when you’ve achieved your goal. By this time, I will have completed and created (insert goal). I will know I’m done because of _______ You can also create your own measures of success. Did I show up as my authentic self? Did I coach with compassion? Did I learn something new? Did I hold space? Did I have fun? How? . /Attainable (make sure your goal is possible, If you set a goal that is outside of your realm of possibility, your brain will use that as evidence to criticize and that will cut down on your confidence. /Relevant means that the goal matters in the bigger picture of your life /Time Bound Take Massive Action Thursday: Now that you have your goal and your SMART goals, it’s time to get going. Self-trust is created by taking action. You are learning to show up for a goal you set for yourself. That’s super powerful. Write down everything you need to do to in the next 30 days to get to your goal. Break it down into steps. Make it Fun to Get it Done Friday: Since this is IME Community, I’m going to teach you my entire philosophy which is to Make it Fun to Get it Done. Start by owning your goal, then get yourself all amped up to take action like Dwight from The Office before a sales call when he was jamming out on air guitar in the backseat while Jim waited patiently outside the car for Dwight to do his thing. Superhero Saturday: Self-love is your superpower to achieve your goals and dreams. Some of you may not have even heard of Superman. You should watch the movie, “Superman” with Christopher Reeves, best Superman ever. Some of the special effects in that movie are hilarious. Clark Kent was Superman’s version of a nerdy base level human. When the world needed saving Clark Kent would go into a phone booth and come out as hottie Superman. Well, you are your own superhero. You are able to go into a phone booth and put on your self-love superpower cape and go save the world. No pressure! Sunday Strategizing: What are the obstacles in your way? What’s in between you and your goal? What’s hard about your goal? What do you need help with? Now, turn your list of obstacles into strategies. You can turn your obstacles into strategies which clears your path to achieve your goals. A strategy could be a skill you need to develop. Here’s an example: If your goal is to eat sugar in moderation, one obstacle may be “I have lots of urges and cravings to eat sugar.” Strategy examples are: “Even though my sugar cravings are conditioned, my brain can be conditioned to create a healthier pathway.” “ I will create a pause when I have an urge or craving to eat sugar.” “ I will keep an urge jar and only count my wins.” Now, get it all on the calendar and mark off your wins! You’ve got this! Self-love s;uperpower, Dr. Karla, ActivistMD See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Social Media Friend Drama Causes Teen to Buffer Emotions with Food!

Here’s your latest IME Community News Headline: Social Media Friend Drama Causes Teen to Buffer Emotions with Food Coach: How did you feel when she blocked you on IG? Teen: “I don’t know.” Coach: Can you describe it? Where is it in your body? What color is it? Teen: “I don’t know really. I just felt upset.” Coach: Why did you feel upset? Teen: “Because I just did. I have no idea why she blocked me. I didn’t do anything. I can’t think of any reason why she blocked me.” Coach: What do you do when you feel upset? Teen: “I was doing so great before she blocked me and then had so many more cravings for food and ate so much and felt out of control again.” In IME Community, teens are learning the skill to allow emotions instead of numbing out with food, how to show up as a friend to themselves first, and how to show up and where to put their attentional focus on social media. I love helping teens to stop self-judging, to have the self-confidence to achieve their health goals and create a big magic dream for their future. So, what is an emotion or feeling? It’s a vibration in your body created by your thoughts. Your thoughts create your feelings. I can’t believe it’s already Week 5: “I Gotta Feeling” of the Reverse Your Insulin Resistance Challenge! This week is for all of us, social media friend drama or life drama. This week, I’m coaching you to give yourself permission to allow all your human feelings and emotions. If you are an adult, don’t you wish you had learned these skills when you were a teen? Are you ready? Let’s go! Mood Ring Monday! Do you remember mood rings? I had several that turned my fingers green. I was obsessed with checking in on the current color of my many mood rings to find out what my mood was at any given moment and if my many mood rings were in sync. Mood rings are a perfect metaphor for how our culture externalizes our emotions. It’s just like our society to teach us to watch the changing color of a mood ring instead of giving us permission and teaching the skills to allow us to get internal, check in with ourselves throughout the day and create emotional awareness. What’s your mood this Monday? Try on a metaphor Tuesday! As someone who has had to learn the skill of allowing my emotions, and as a pediatrician for 25 years, and a Mom of 20, 17, and 14 year-old humans, and mostly from what I’ve learned through the amazingness of coaching teens, I know it’s super tough for all of us to describe how we are feeling. One tool I use when I coach teens who are stuck is to create a metaphor for their feelings and emotions. What’s a metaphor that works for you to describe how you are feeling? Calm like in a swimming pool, sad like a weighted blanket is on you, excited like it’s your birthday? I’m sure with school starting no one feels excited. Well, I always did. Nerd alert. Welcome all emotions Wednesday! In our society and culture, we are not taught the skills or even given permission to feel our human emotions. That leads us to think there’s something wrong when we perceive a negative emotion, so we end up reacting, resisting, or avoiding, instead of allowing all emotions to pass through us, so we can be present in the moments of our lives. Whether you are resisting, avoiding or reacting, your emotions are there under the surface or buried deep. When you learn to allow and even welcome all your human emotions, you find a freedom you never had. You find freedom from buffering with food. Ask yourself, “What would it feel like if I welcomed all my human emotions?” Don’t ride the Thought Train Thursday! Thoughts create your feelings, but that doesn’t mean you have to do anything other than recognize feelings and how emotions come up in your body. Don’t overthink your feelings. Don’t spend a lot of time chasing down the thought train of what’s creating your feelings. Later, you will be able to do more thought awareness, but recognition of feelings is key at the beginning. How are you feeling Friday? When was the last time someone asked you, “How are you feeling?” Did they truly listen and care about your answer? You can listen to yourself and care about your answer. “I care.”- This is a super cheesy line Luke Skywalker says in Star Wars. It’s Mark Hamill’s super cheesy delivery that gets me every time. So, I will ask you on this fine Friday, How are you feeling? Permission to Feel Saturday! Do you get critical and judge yourself for feeling sad, anxious, tired, disappointed? Recently, I’ve been feeling disappointment, but instead of allowing the feeling of disappointment, I was depleting my energy stores by resisting it. I was making feeling disappointment mean that I was disappointed in myself and that didn’t feel believable. So, through coaching, I created a space, took some breaths and decided to say to myself, “I feel disappointed.” Then, I left it at that. It felt empty and gray and hollow to me. I just accepted I felt the human emotion of disappointment and didn’t make it mean anything else. Ask yourself, “How can I give myself permission to feel all of my emotions and not judge myself for having a human emotion?” Sunday Mindfulness I coach teens to recognize what they cause and control, which is mainly deciding how they want to show up and where they put their attentional focus, and that all feelings are part of the human journey and there’s nothing going wrong when they perceive a negative emotion. What would it feel like to respond to your emotions instead of reacting, avoiding or resisting? What mindfulness practices help you calm your mind so you can respond instead of reacting, avoiding or resisting? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We suggest listening to the song at least once before you listen to us go on about it! Take your pick from the music video, the choreography-centric version, and/or the live stage performance. Enjoy! Here's Taemin's Danger dance practice video for our shared way into K-pop. And it was this Taemin stage that got Claudia properly into K-pop. #tbt I Gotta Feeling - or, another point of comparison, the equivalent chart-topper in the US at the same time as Gee was Maroon 5's One More Night. WARNING: it's not good Fanchants are organized, pre-planned cheers that occur during natural breaks in the song. Common fanchants include shouting the full names of the members, replying to the lyrics to form a back-and-forth, or amplifying the "killer parts" of the song. And here's an example of a Gee fanchant from 2017, Note that the big hype moment is screaming "Gee gee gee gee!" at the right time, and also, that no one is concerned about hitting the notes on GEE GEE GEE GEE. Shoutout to Jakob Dorof's excellent K-pendium site (RIP site). Here's his article on Gee, which was definitely one of our influences on this project. I live with a super social twelve-year-old.  Our home is conveniently located within biking and walking distance to a vast majority of her friends.  Therefore, I interact with dozens, seemingly hundreds, of middle-schoolers on the reg.  That means “regularly.”  Not only do I hear, and apparently absorb (…totes…) their language, but I also hear, and often abhor, their music.  At times, I’m tempted to let something much like this slip from my mouth, “Music is horrible today.” Guess what, though? It’s not true. What I’d really be saying is, “When I was a kid…our shitty pop music was less shitty than this generation’s shitty pop music.”  But see, shitty pop music is shitty pop music is shitty pop music.  And also, all art is relative, and personal, and wrought with nostalgic, emotional overlay. I realized this as Jen played, “Hit the Quan” for me.  If you stream the podcast just below this post, you can hear both the song and the insights. For those of you who’ll just read, and to assure myself that, indeed, every decade’s shitty pop…let’s call it Poop Music, is merely soon-to-be-dated Poop, I did some research.  I use the term “research” quite loosely.  What I really did was look at the “List of Billboard Top 100 chart achievements by decade” on Wikipedia, within which I found the top songs of each decade back to 1958.  That’s right, 1958.  People, Wikipedia is absolutely wonderful for many things.  Not serious academic research, and not as a solitary source.  Don’t dismiss it out of hand just because it’s crowd-sourced.  While it only takes one dick to ruin something, the crowd generally trumps the dick.  However, also realize that the community created a 1958 – 1969 “decade” because, I dunno, the dick won there. So, for any of you who’ve claimed, in your best crotchety old-man/old-woman demeanor, “Music ain’t like it used to be,” feast your eyes on these lists.  (And hell, link through to the videos to feast your ears as well!)  Keep in mind, there are absolute gems of pop perfection in each decade…and there are heaping mounds of steaming shit as well.  All the way back to the decade that began in, uh…1958.  I won’t try to convince you which songs here are genius, which are formulaic, which are immediately forgetful, unforgettable, and which are vomit-worthy.  I only ask you to keep track of your reactions as you travel back…and be completely honest with yourself. Because a turd by any other name would smell as putrid. Here goes: 2010’s – “Songs,” and artists (by total weeks at number one) “Uptown Funk,” Mark Ronson featuring Bruno mars (14)“Blurred Lines,”* Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell (12)*No-boobies version****If you like boobies, and who doesn’t like boobies (?!),  just google search: blurred lines unrated“See You Again,” Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth (12)“We Found Love,” Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris (10)“Happy,” Pharrell Williams (10)“Tik Tok,” Kesha (9)“Call Me Maybe,” Carly Rae Jepson (9)“One More Night,” Maroon 5 (9)“Royals,” Lorde (9)“Somebody That I Used to Know,” Gotye featuring Kimbra (8)“All About That Bass,” Meghan Trainor (8) 2000’s – “Songs,” and artists (by total weeks at number one) “We Belong Together,” Maria Carey (14)“I Gotta Feeling,” The Black Eyed Peas (14)“Lose Yourself,” Eminem (12)“Yeah!,” Usher featuring Lil John and Ludacris (12)“Boom Boom Pow,” The Black Eyed Peas (12)“Independent Woman,” Destiny’s Child (11)“Irreplaceable,” Beyonce (10)“Low,” Flo Rida featuring T-Pain (10)“Maria Maria,” Santana featuring The Product G&B  (10)“Dilemma,” Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland (10)“Foolish,” Ashanti (10)“Gold Digger,” Kanye West featuring Jamie Fox (10) 1990’s – “Songs,” and artists (by total weeks at number one) “One Sweet Day,” Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men (16)“I Will Always Love You,” Whitney Houston (14)“I’ll Make Love to You,” Boyz II Men (14)“Candle in the Wind ‘97/Something About the Way You Look Tonight,” Elton John (14)“Macarena,” Los Del Rio (14)“End of the Road,” Boyz II Men (13)“The Boy is Mine,” Brandy and Monica (13)“Smooth,” Santana featuring Rob Thomas (12)“Un-Break My Heart,” Toni Braxton (11)“I Swear,” All-4-One (11)“I’ll Be Missing You,” Puff Daddy and Faith Evans featuring 112 (11) 1980’s – “Songs,” and artists (by total weeks at number one) “Physical,” Olivia Newton-John (10)****I never realized how gay this video is, literally and in 80’s vernacular.“Bette Davis Eyes,” Kim Carnes (9)“Endless Love,” Diana Ross and Lionel Richie (9)“Every Breath You Take,” The Poice (8)“I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,”** Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (7)**I also love Rocky Road“Ebony and Ivory,”** Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder (7)**this“Billie Jean,” Michael Jackson (7)“Call Me,” Blondie (6)“Lady,” Kenny Rogers (6)“Centerfold,” The J.
