In this episode of Visual Intonation, we delve into the captivating stories of two pioneering Ghanaian artists whose work has redefined the African visual arts landscape: Andy Madjitey and John Kwame Markin. These two visionaries have not only mastered the art of storytelling through photography and cinematography, but they have also been at the forefront of blending traditional African narratives with modern-day creativity, shaping the future of African visual culture. Andy Madjitey's journey began on the streets of Accra, where his love for photography first took root. His camera became his passport to capturing the vibrant, raw energy of the Ghanaian youth, offering a glimpse into the pulse of the city. But Andy's story didn't stop there. His passion for visual storytelling evolved into filmmaking, where he merged his photographic skills with the art of narrative video. Andy's ability to seamlessly blend the old and the new, the traditional and the modern, became the hallmark of his work, allowing him to create content that resonates on a deeper, more personal level. His collaborations have brought him into contact with some of the biggest names in the industry. From his groundbreaking work on 'Palmwine Diaries' to his experimental short 'Gbonyo Party' in 2023, Andy's work spans genres and challenges conventions. At the helm of La Scène Grande Studios, Andy has become a mentor and a leader in his community, creating a platform for emerging creatives and amplifying voices often left unheard. His collaborations with brands and artists across Africa, and his global connections to storytellers like Melina Matsoukas—known for her work on 'Formation' by Beyoncé and 'We Found Love' by Rihanna—reflect Andy's ever-expanding influence in both African and international creative circles. Central to Andy's creative journey are the mentors who have shaped his vision, including Nana Kofi Asihene, who recognized Andy's potential from the start, and Wanlov, whose resourceful, gear-agnostic approach to filmmaking continues to inspire Andy's own work. These relationships, alongside his extensive experience, have propelled Andy into the spotlight as a key figure in the African filmmaking scene, where he continues to push boundaries and redefine the role of cinema in exploring complex social themes like identity, community, and tradition. On the other hand, John Kwame Markin, known in the industry as KwameBlack, is a cinematographer and director who has built a reputation for creating some of the most visually stunning and technically sophisticated work in the industry. With over a decade of experience, John has worked on a diverse range of projects, both locally and internationally, collaborating with directors, brands, and creative teams to bring their visions to life. His exceptional eye for detail and his expertise in lighting, composition, and camera movement have made him one of the most sought-after cinematographers in Ghana. John's professional journey has been marked by his work on a variety of high-profile projects, including commercials for global brands like Google, Nestlé, and Mastercard, as well as critically acclaimed films. His partnership with Andy Madjitey on several projects, includiSupport the showVisual Intonation Website: https://www.visualintonations.com/Visual Intonation Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/visualintonation/Vante Gregory's Website: vantegregory.comVante Gregory's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/directedbyvante/ To support me on Patreon (thank you): patreon.com/visualintonations Tiktok: www.tiktok.com/@visualintonation Tiktok: www.tiktok.com/@directedbyvante

This episode discusses the second half (volumes 7–12) of Hot Gimmick by Miki Aihara.Oh, so you thought the first half of Hot Gimmick contained the worst of the problematic hot trash? Think again. Shojo & Tell host Ashley and Naja of Blerdy Otome are back to talk about this wild, wild ending to a wild, wild series where all the content warnings apply. Who does Hatsumi end up with in her triangle of horrible choices? Why are Tachibanas like this? What are you doing, Shinogu? Who is THE worst character in the entire series (on a scale of constant abuse and gang rape to actually why the heck isn't this series about cuties Subaru and Akane?)? What are the most popular ships on Ao3/FF.net for this series, and do the people writing it know they're wrong? All that and more is touched on in this podcast episode. patreon.com/DriftingOffwithJoePera/shopHello Drifters,It's Joe, with a note for the Spring.I hope your April has been good and that you've got your garden plotted out. If not, there's still time and I am glad for that because personally, I'm not sure what to do with the special bean seeds I received from some nice people at my show in Kalamazoo. For a stretch in Spring '22, I was ending tour shows by tossing out seed packets while Rihanna's ‘We Found Love' played loudly - comedy doesn't have to be complicated. The seeds I received were the same seeds I had tossed out last time I performed in Southwest Michigan, just two generations of beans later. Pretty cool. And though I am excited to plant them, I am not sure where. While I was on the road last month, my basement flooded for the 4th time since I've moved in, this time from the water heater bursting. And February, before I left, there was also a leak behind the bathroom wall so I think it's time to move out when my lease expires in July and find a new basement or even an upstairs office! The tricky part is that it's right in the middle of growing season - perhaps I will put them in pots I can move with me.I talked about the bathroom leak a bit during the end of the Drifting Off Live show, which now feels even more like a suitable finale to Season 1 of the podcast than it did at the time. The basement days are coming to a close and we'll find a new podcast hole, one with character and quiet but ideally, a little less water. In the meanwhile, Ryan just finished editing the live show “Drifting Off: Live at the Brooklyn Opera House and I'm excited to share it with you:patreon.com/DriftingOffwithJoePera/shopIt's got new material from me, sections from the podcast performed live, and some sleep pieces from friends, all accompanied by the band, Hour and Ryan Dann.In order to avoid making a mess by unpausing and repausing the patreon, we just made it available on the patreon shop. It's set as the same price as the lowest tier ($3).Here are just a couple notes:-It blends the energy of the regular sleep podcast with the that of a live comedy show. There are parts you may doze off at, especially the ending, but there's also audience laughter throughout, just so you are aware.-Roger Clark's bit from the show is not in this release - we'll release it eventually but for a few reasons, we are keeping it in the archives for a bit.-If you decide to buy, doing it on your computer and listening online or on the Patreon app will save you some money. Apple takes 30% from the store on iPhones so it automatically raises the price (the joys of tech monopolies, you know?). It is probably more convenient, just wanted to let you know in case you enjoy being thrifty like me.-It's a great show. I genuinely enjoyed re-listening to the recording and felt good and calm by the end. It's a nice conclusion to Season 1 of the show. And that's the deal with the release. Til we get to next season, we'll occasionally share some stuff in here and Ryan's putting out his own adjacent but different podcast as well:https://www.patreon.com/HollandPatentPostalUnionI'm listening to Hour's new album while writing:https://itshr.bandcamp.com/album/ease-the-workIf you're looking for a watch in the same vein, I thoroughly enjoyed the film ‘Fallen Leaves' and I can't say enough about ‘Bread Factory Parts 1 & 2' if you're feeling adventurous.Sincerely,Joe (& Ryan & Grant) Hosted on Acast. Culture writer and author Lina Abascal returns to Pop Pantheon to revisit the fleeting early 2010s moment when EDM DJs utterly consumed American popular music via two of the genre's most emblematic figures, David Guetta and Calvin Harris. Louie and Lina trace David's roots in the Paris club scene through to his breakthrough in the U.S. with hits like "When Love Takes Over", "Sexy Bitch" & "Memories", "Where Them Girls At?", "Titanium" and "Turn Me On", his big pop collaborations with artists like Sia, Kelly Rowland and Nicki Minaj. They then tackle Calvin's bloghouse-y origins through to his peak-era work, from 2011's “We Found Love” with Rihanna to smashes like "Feel So Close", "Sweet Nothing", "One Kiss" and "This is What You Came For". Congrats to the multi-talented Rihanna. Well that's a wrap! It is surreal saying that, but genuinely, thank you everyone for tuning in to Son of a Beach every week! It's been such a fun ride. So much tea was spilled, breaking news was shared and many funny takes on pop culture were said. This podcast started out last semester as a segment in Beach Weekly and look how far we came? I created “Son of a Beach” to bring joy, fun and drama of course as a way for students and listeners to find out the latest pop culture news, but to hear a different perspective on topics. From cultural appropriation on television to Nick Cannon popping babies, a lot was discussed. Thank you to Rosie Montes and Renzo Pocasangre for partaking in the podcast throughout the semester and school year in their segments. As the season comes to a close, I want to show my gratitude to everyone at the Daily 49er for giving me the platform to share pop culture news and everything in between on a bigger scale. Lastly, I just want to say thank you for listening. This has been Kadie here. When we think of the concept of a "hopeless place," our thoughts often drift to other people - not ourselves. As inspired by the song "We Found Love" by Rihanna and Calvin Harris and Romans 5:8 ("While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"), Join Apostle Dr. Lee Ann Marino in this teaching, live from Sanctuary International Fellowship Tabernacle in Charlotte, North Carolina where she explores the different ways we all find love in our hopeless place. Matt talks about his favorite party songs to get the party started and includes the last song to end the event. Important Links View the complete list of best party songs. See all Wedding Songs Podcast episodes Podcast Transcript Welcome to the 84th episode of the Wedding Songs Podcast. I am Matt Campbell and today I am going to have one of my favorite, and I know everyone else's favorite, topics. Best party songs. These may not be the best songs to get everyone out on the dance floor (although I am going to include those also), but these could also be background songs as well. And, also songs that are trending right now. If you prefer to read the list or listen to the list, you can do so on our website MyWeddingSongs.com. While you are there make sure to sign up for our monthly newsletter. In it, we tell you about all the new songs released in the prior month and also great trending songs and forgotten hits you can play on your wedding day. This episode is going to be a little bit different, I am not going to include song lyrics because I am just going to go thru the 200 songs just to categorize those by genre and a couple of events as well (I will get to that in just a second). So, speaking of starting off, I am going to start off with 37 songs I think could really get everyone out on the dance floor. They are party songs and ones that you want to make sure you at least have in your music library. The first one is “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston, “Yeah” by Usher, “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, the great Disco song. “Fergalicious” by Fergie, “Get Low” by Lil Jon, and the East Side Boyz featuring Ying Yang Twins, and “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. This one is exploding recently because it is in a car commercial. “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, “We Found Love” by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris. This is a great song to really get the party started and get everybody excited. Next is “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas and “September” by Earth Wind and Fire. One of the great dance songs of all time. “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and the newer song, “About Damn Time” by Lizzo. “Shut Up And Dance” by WALK THE MOON. There are a few Michael Jackson songs we can have on the list, but it seems like “Billie Jean” is on everybody's playlist. “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins with the right crowd, and “C'Mon ‘N Ride It (The Train)” by Quad City DJ's, which came out in the '90s and will get everybody doing the train around the dance floor. Next is “The Humpty Dance” by Digital Underground who recently lost their lead singer. “Get Down On It” by Kool and The Gang and “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot. “Hey Ya!” by Outkast, and “Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks is the first Country song on the list, which is a sing-along song you can have on your list. “Timber” by Pitbull featuring Kesha, “No Hands” by Waka Flocka Flame and Roscoe Dash featuring Wale, “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars, and of course the “Cha-Cha Slide” by Mr. C if you want to have a group dance song, along with the next son “Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid. “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex and “Hot In Herre” by Nelly. One of the great party songs, “Shots” by LMFAO, and the second Country song, “Fishin' In The Dark” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Listen to the lyrics to make sure they are Wedding appropriate if you are going to play it at a wedding and your Wedding couple is OK with it. “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, “Time Of Our Lives” by Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo. Another group dance song , “Wobble” by V.I.C., “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, and “Shout” by The Isley Brothers or by Otis Day. It is up to you which version you prefer. It is just a great group dance song you can have. “All The Small Things” by Blink-182. And finally, “Boogie Shoes” by KC And The Sunshine Band. So that is just to get things started off. Next up let us talk about 10 songs for slow dance songs starting off with “Tennessee Whiskey” ...

Up next on our "Multiverse Of Music" mixtape series will be @noraenpure, an artist that has been involved in the music industry for over a decade! The South African / Swiss native will be joining us as she headlines the Garden area on the 1st of April and as a present she has supplied us with a hour of melodic & house rhythms. A strong characteristic is her use of organic instruments and sounds with emotive piano leads being her strongest suit. Nora En Pure is the Deep House & Indie Dance music sensation that is rippling through the sonic sphere with her beautiful blend of electronic beats. A core member of the Helvetic Nerds group, Nora leads listeners out of the darker realms of Deep House with intricate instrumentals and enlightening melodies. Every track she gets her hands on turns to gold and every performance she gives leaves the audience in awe. Daniela continues to dominate in 2019, receiving two nominations in the IDMA Awards for Best Female Artist (House) and Best Podcast/Radio Show for Purified. Being announced as one Wynn Las Vegas Resident DJs and making her highly anticipated return to ULTRA Music Festival & Coachella, Nora continues to prove her indomitable work ethic and demonstrates why she has been crowned the Queen of Deep House. With two Purified events already scheduled in Miami for Miami Music Week and New York and her first release of the year ‘We Found Love' working its magic all over the globe, 2019 is sizing up to be Nora En Pure's biggest year-to-date.

(1963)————————作者| 詹姆士·赖特翻译|赵毅衡诵读|NJ青木配乐| We Found Love作曲| Endless Melancholy / Matt Finney封面|佚名
Former Editor-in-Chief of Jezebel and famed author of The Rihanna RihPort, Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, Is back with DJ Louie for part two of their discussion about the newly anointed Queen of Barbados, Rihanna. Louie and Julianne pick up with Rihanna's 5th album, 2010's Loud, her commercial pop peak and a celebration following the thornier, darker Rated R the previous year. They then analyze what made "We Found Love" the emblematic EDM-pop song and Rih's biggest hit to date, the way she drew from female rappers on salacious hits like "Cockiness (Lick It)" and "Birthday Cake", the alluring fatigue of 2012's sprawling Unapologetic, how she became the superlative celebrity Instagrammer, and her subversive choice to re-unite on record with Chris Brown. Rounding out her career, they consider Rihanna's artistic peak, 2016's startlingly insular Anti, how she's recently applied The Rihanna Thing is non-musical ventures like her lingerie and makeup lines, and her impact on contemporary pop stars, before each sharing their ranking of Rihanna albums. Finally, Louie and Julianne have a lengthy and heated debate about whether Rihanna has ascended to (*gasp*) Tier 1 in the official Pop Pantheon. In celebration of Valentine's Day, we are counting down the top 50 Hot 100 hits with a form of the word "love" in the title. The romantic tunes cover all seven decades of the Hot 100's history, ranging from 1958's "To Know Him Is to Love Him" by the Teddy Bears to 2011's "We Found Love" by Rihanna.
