My son is in kindergarten and one of his little schoolmates is leaving. We have been invited to the party in North Mackay. On the invite, there is a link to a gift registry. Um, what? Sorry?! This isn't a wedding or a baby shower! Is this a thing these days? Should we buy or not? Tennille, Blacks Beach This pregnant woman comes into the café I work at and orders her food then complains about it halfway through the meal and requests either a refund or a credit on the next meal. Her reason, because her cravings change and she's not enjoying it. Solution Judge Jay? – Anonymous, Sarina. We purchased a house in Airlie Beach. It's a 50-year-old home. When we purchased it, it came with the furniture, etc. But we have since found some old antiques which could be worth a lot we have been told. Should we let the former owners know? – Helen, Jubilee Pocket.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Hi Jay and Dave, can I vent my frustration? I work in the CBD of Airlie Beach and the amount of oversized SUV's and Utes that clog up the main street is ridiculous. How do your listeners feel about having a ban on these vehicles. They take up a big space and hard to navigate around. If not banned, then definitely a bigger parking fee for the drivers, if in paid parking. I think this would be a good solution for Airlie and Mackay CBD's." Luke Gilbert was shot dead by two officers after he allegedly approached them with a knife as they patrolled the entertainment precinct of the coastal town during the early hours of Saturday. Queensland Police said the knife the 24-year-old was carrying had a four-to-five centimetre blade. When he failed to drop the weapon and began to advance towards them, Superintendent Graeme Paine said the officers drew their firearms and fired. About four to five shots were discharged. Mr Gilbert was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries. Sunrise correspondent Syan Vallance has the details.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Carnival Splendor Home in Sydney, by Garry S (NSW)Listener QuestionBrogan asks, When did Princess Cruises start and was it focused around the Love Boat? Cruise NewsCarnival Splendor Escorted Home to Sydney In one of Sydney Harbour's epic maritime events, Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Splendor arrived home today escorted by sister brand ship P&O Cruises Australia's Pacific Adventure as the official summer cruise season gets underway for Carnival Australia's eight brands, signalling growing cruise industry recovery.Carnival Splendor and Pacific Adventure met off the coast sailing together before separating to enter the harbour in majestic single file and momentarily pausing adjacent to Fort Denison, and the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge providing a stunning backdrop. This spectacular Fort Denison ‘moment' signified the fact that Carnival Splendor and Pacific Adventure are now both home-ported in Sydney to resume cruising on itineraries in Australia and to the South Pacific.Carnival Splendor's return also fulfilled a promise made by the crew of Carnival Spirit the night before their ship left Sydney in March 2020 as the two-year cruising pause began. They used cabin lights along the length of the ship to spell out the message: ‘WE WILL BE BACK'.Today's maritime pageantry also served to highlight the rapid recovery of cruising in Australia.Eighteen ships from Carnival Australia's eight brands are set for a peak summer cruise season in 2022-23 making 667 turnarounds and port calls to 33 destinations across the country. The number of ship turnarounds and calls eclipses the 625 that were announced prior to the 2019-20 season, which was curtailed due to the onset of the covid pandemic.Carnival Australia's three cruise brands that base ships year round in Australia — P&O Cruises Australia, Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line — are well advanced in their restoration of local operations. In addition, Cunard will base Queen Elizabeth in Australia for its longest ever local season of cruises, while two Holland America Line ships and a Seabourn ship will also spend significant periods in Australian waters.Destinations in all Australian states will benefit from cruise calls and turnarounds including:NSW — Sydney, Eden and Newcastle.QLD — Brisbane, Moreton Island, Airlie Beach and Cairns.VIC — Melbourne and Phillip IslandSA — Adelaide, Kangaroo Island and Port Lincoln.WA — Fremantle, Albany, Broome and the Kimberley region.TAS — Hobart, Burnie and Port Arthur.Godmother named for Carnival CelebrationCarnival Cruise Line today announced that actress Cassidy Gifford will serve as godmother to its newest ship, Carnival Celebration, at the ship's naming ceremony taking place November 20, 2022, in Miami.Actress Cassidy Gifford will serve as godmother to its newest ship, Carnival Celebration. Currently the app is available for all guests sailing on A-ROSA SENA, ahead of a fleet wide roll out for the 2023 season. The new app will hold all the relevant information from the ship's onboard programme such as restaurant and bar opening times, details of the evening buffet menu which is updated daily and times that the spa and sauna is open. Guests can book excursions in the ‘My Trip' section, view the cruise itinerary and find other facts about the ship and life on board. An integrated bar menu is also a feature of the new app, enabling drinks to be ordered digitally. All tables in the SENA BAR, CAPTAIN'S VIEW and THE A-ROSA MARKET have QR codes that guests can scan using their own smartphone. This will then open up the extensive bar menu in the app, from which drinks can be ordered and brought directly to guests table. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play and is available for both iOS and Android users. This important development also plays a key role in the river cruise line's ongoing sustainability journey.and moreJoin the show:If you have a cruise tip, burning question or want to record a cruise review get in touch with us via the website https://thebigcruisepodcast.com/join-the-show/ Guests: Chris Frame: https://bit.ly/3a4aBCg   Chris's Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ChrisFrameOfficialPeter Kollar: https://www.cruising.org.au/Home Listen & Subscribe: Amazon Podcasts: https://amzn.to/3w40cDcApple Podcasts: https://apple.co/2XvD7tF Audible: https://adbl.co/3nDvuNgCastbox: https://bit.ly/2xkGBEI Google Podcasts: https://bit.ly/2RuY04u I heart Radio:  https://ihr.fm/3mVIEUASpotify: https://spoti.fi/3caCwl8 Stitcher: https://bit.ly/2JWE8Tz Pocket casts: https://bit.ly/2JY4J2M Tune in: https://bit.ly/2V0Jrrs Podcast Addict: https://bit.ly/2BF6LnEImage Credit: Carnival Splendor, Sydney. The change means that U.S. travellers can pursue their love of cruising from homeports elsewhere in the world without concern they could be denied entry to return home. Likewise the news will be welcomed by guests elsewhere in the world wanting to visit the USA for a land or cruise holiday.Coral Princess Arrives at New Homeport of BrisbaneThe return of cruising in Queensland continued this week with the arrival of Princess Cruises' Coral Princess into Brisbane (7 June) to commence her inaugural season.  The ship's arrival marks the first ever ship to be homeported at the new state-of-the-art Brisbane International Cruise Terminal (BICT) and the first of Princess Cruises' MedallionClass vessels to call Australia home.Building on the momentum of sister line, P&O Cruises Australia's Pacific Explorer's first sailing from Sydney last week, Coral Princess is set to depart on its first guest cruise on June 16, 2022The 2000-guest ship will offer 11 cruises departing Brisbane ranging from 3-12 nights between June and August before returning for another 10 cruises this summer from November. Initially scheduled to set sail from Athens mid-August of this year, Resilient Lady will remain in Genoa getting on-board work completed, hitting the high seas next spring. As part of an ambitious launch sequence, Virgin Voyages is now operating two ships, its first, Scarlet Lady in the Caribbean and second, Valiant Lady in the Med. Despite challenges stemming from the pandemic, the new brand introduced two ships in the span of a year, including the launch of its new Terminal V at PortMiami in February. As an experience-led brand with strong ties to the Virgin legacy of disrupting industries, Virgin Voyages did not land on this decision lightly, and despite making tremendous strides alongside the cruise industry as a whole, the brand is not immune to the global challenges the world is facing. This includes supply chain obstacles, a level of regional uncertainty for international travellers and crewing challenges. While this delay was not anticipated, Virgin Voyages is successfully operating its first two Lady Ships and looks forward to welcoming Resilient Lady to its fleet early next year, with its fourth ship in the fleet, Brilliant Lady, soon thereafter.Carnival deploys Menu Mate Extensive dining options help feed the fun at Carnival Cruise Line, and as anyone with food allergies knows, having a variety of healthy choices is more than just enjoyable – but also important to safety. That's why Carnival is now introducing the Menu Mate™ food ingredient program fleetwide to accommodate guests with special diets more efficiently than ever.Easily operated on touch-screen tablets at food venues across the Carnival fleet , the Menu Mate food ingredient program is powered by award-winning CertiStar software to mitigate the risks of allergic reactions. The new program is the first of its kind among major cruise lines. The program eliminates the lengthy process of conferring between guests, wait staff and chefs over the ingredients of menu items and possible substitutions. Now that the process of selecting items with allergen friendly ingredients is simplified, it is also no longer necessary for guests to inform Carnival of food allergies in advance of their cruise.NCLH Steps up commitment to Sail Sustainably Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has released its 2021 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, as part of its Sail & Sustain program,Highlights from the report include:Committing to pursue net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across the operations and value chainDeveloping short and near-term greenhouse gas reductions to support the path to net zeroInvestigating the feasibility of retrofitting existing engines to operate with both diesel and methanol fuelsAiming to test the use of methanol fuel by 2025Setting a target for approximately 70% of the fleet to be equipped with shore power capabilities by 2025Offsetting three million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent from 2021-2023 to help bridge the gap in decarbonisation efforts whilst exploring long-term alternative fuel solutionsSeabourn is celebrating the return of its entire fleetSeabourn Sojourn return to service on June 6, 2022, from Athens, Greece for a sun-soaked European summer. The ultra-luxury cruise line now has all five of its ships in operation for the first time since March 2020. During the daytime naming celebration, Carnival Corporation President and CEO Arnold Donald, Holland America Group President Jan Swartz, Rotterdam Captain Werner Timmers, Lord Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb and Mariner Ambassadors David and Gisela Gere joined Princess Margriet to officially welcome Rotterdam to the fleet.Holland America Line's connection to The House of Orange goes back nearly a century to Prince Hendrik launching Statendam III in 1929. Since then, members of the Dutch Royal Family have launched 11 more Holland America Line vessels throughout the years, including Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet who named Prinsendam (1972), Nieuw Amsterdam II (1983), Rotterdam VI (1997) and Oosterdam (2003).Additional members of the Dutch Royal Family who are godmothers include Queen Máxima, who named Koningsdam in 2016 and Nieuw Amsterdam in 2010. Star Pride is the third and final of Windstar's Star Plus Class yachts to emerge from Italy's Fincantieri shipyard following a complex lengthening and transformation project. Now, all six of the line's all-suite and sailing yachts are back in the water cruising while requiring vaccines of all passengers and crew amongst a host of health and safety precautions including testing and high-tech air filtration. The line's three all-suite Star Plus Class yachts (Star Breeze, Star Legend, and Star Pride) underwent major transformations, with an investment of more than $250 million. Star Breeze was the first to launch in June of 2021, with Star Legend as the second in September of 2021, showcasing new suites and expanded outdoor and indoor public spaces. The yachts are also more environmentally friendly with new efficient engines, generators, and advanced wastewater treatment systems. All three yachts increased in maximum capacity from 212 guests to 312 and provide more of what Windstar's customers want, like additional dining experiences (one is an outdoor barbecue concept with grilling guru Steven Raichlen and the other a Spanish small plates restaurant from Anthony Sasso, one of the youngest chefs to be recognized by the Michelin Guide), a true spa and fitness center, an elegant infinity pool, and more outdoor deck areas.A new build for PandawLaunching in mid-2023 the RV Song Hong, which means Red River, will join the company's highly successful RV Angkor on its routing through North Vietnam's Red and Black River network from Halong Bay to the mountains beyond. The Angkor is so popular it books out months in advance so there is a real need for a second ship on this routing. With just ten enlarged staterooms, going a bit bigger than the classic much-loved Pandaw cabin, this expedition vessel will like all Pandaw ships have an ultra-shallow draft to enable it to cope with such tricky waterways.Pandaw first opened on the Red River in 2015 and it has been one of the company's most successful small ship routings offering a real insight into the life and culture of North Vietnam with its amazing scenery and time spent in and around the capital Hanoi. The new ship will be built in the region at Hai-phong, and fitted out in hardwood from sustainable forestry. It will have the usual Pandaw promenades running around the ship that are conducive to so convivial and atmosphere on board and a choice of indoor or outdoor dining, in the spacious saloon or aft deck.Proof of vaccination or recovery is no longer required on A-ROSA cruisesFrom 4 June 2022 participating in cruises of A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH will again be possible without proof of vaccination, recovery or a certified negative test result. The cruise line has adapted its hygiene protocol to the relaxed European entry regulations. After the removal of the mask mandate on board as well as the rapid antigen test upon boarding, this is the next major relaxation step.An exception is the A-ROSA ALVA in Portugal. Here, due to regional regulations, guests over 12 years of age continue to require proof of complete vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 in order to participate in Douro cruises. In addition, the requirement to wear a mask and the need for a rapid antigen test prior to boarding remain in place. The additional hygiene measures such as the strengthened cleaning and disinfection protocols are maintained everywhere onboard. The A-ROSA Care Team continues to closely monitor the very dynamic developments and will adapt the protection and hygiene protocol to changing circumstances if necessary.Since the start of the season in March 2022, the A-ROSA ships have once again been sailing on the Rhine, Danube, Douro, Rhône and Seine. Tweetable Takeaways from this Episode: “You're really looking for the true counterpart, a second-in-command, who you can really trust and who's great at the stuff that you suck at, and who doesn't want to get into the stuff that you're really good at.” -Cameron HeroldClick To TweetTranscript (Note, this was transcribed using a transcription software and may not reflect the exact words used in the podcast) Tom Poland 00:10 Welcome, everyone, to another edition of Marketing the Invisible. My name is Tom Poland beaming out to you from little Castaways Beach here in Queensland, Australia, joined today by another Aussie, Cameron Herold. Good day, sir. Welcome! Where are you hanging out? Cameron Herold 00:23 Hey, Tom! I'm in Scottsdale, Arizona right now, but I'm going to be over in Italy for the next six weeks starting Friday. Tom Poland 00:28 Oh, I'm jealous. Obviously far, I have to say, but full respect to those also in Scottsdale. Wonderful place. Cameron Herold 00:35 I think I've been to Castaways Beach. Is that the Airlie Beach area? Tom Poland 00:38 No, it's just south of Noosa. Cameron Herold 00:40 Noosa, okay. Okay, I've been to Noosa, as well. No, I stayed at a Castaways resort at Airlie Beat in 1990 December, when we got hit with some cyclone. Tom Poland 00:51 What perfect timing! Cameron Herold 00:53 It was a backpacker's resort called “Castaway”. Tom Poland 00:55 We are a little further south than that, but still sunny and lots of white sand and blue ocean. Folks, for those of you who don't know Cameron, he's one of the most giving people I know. We probably met five or eight years ago for another interview series that I keep stalking around the internet. And he's just always giving talks and giving free things away. I don't know if he knows how to say no. I'm sure you do, Cameron, but I've seen you say yes to a lot of opportunities. For those of you, however, who have not had the privilege of following Cameron in his footsteps, he's the mastermind behind hundreds of company's exponential growth. And before you think you have kind of heard that bio before, he actually is, unlike others who get their mothers to write their bio. This one's actually being written in the real world. He's earned his reputation as the business growth guru. He's built dynamic consultancy with clients that include monarchy, and a Big 4 wireless company. Author of five books, he's also a top-rated international speaker, founder of the COO Alliance, the World's Leading Network for Seconds in Command. The title, well qualified to contribute on this subject, is, “How to Invest in Your Leaders and Yourself for Growth”. Cameron, our seven minutes starts now. Sir, question number one is who is your ideal client? Cameron Herold 02:11 The ideal client is a real company, typically, 50 to 500 employees, minimum $5 million in revenue, where they're looking to scale the organization, and the CEO has realized that they need to empower their second-in-command or their COOs. So, the COO knows how to grow the company, while the CEO knows what needs to get done. Tom Poland 02:31 Perfect! Not your first rodeo. Question number two, what is the problem you solve? Six and a half minutes left. Cameron Herold 02:38 Yeah, the biggest problem I solve is that most entrepreneurs are quite incapable of getting operational and growing the company. And at some point, they need to hire that second-in-command, and they don't tend to have the skills or the leadership chops to actually build the scale of the company and they get stuck. And if we give them a path kind of over that hurdle, then they can really grow the company. Tom Poland 02:58 Strategically critical. Never leave an entrepreneur in charge of his or her own idea, right? Cameron Herold 03:04 Yeah, it's not an insult against them. I've been one my entire life where we play in a different sandbox. Tom Poland 03:09 We have a different brain. I agree, 100%. Question three, sir, six minutes left, what are some of the typical symptoms that someone needs what you've got? What thing's going to be going on in their business or their life, kind of give them a heads up and go, “Yeah, that's me”? Cameron Herold 03:23 Yeah, they've usually had their first management team in place. And they're trying to build that team into a leadership team. You know, they need to get more of the season the leaders. They need to bring on people that have really done it before– less of the “Jack of all Trade”, more of a real solid, skilled people. They don't know how to attract them. They don't know how to align them. They don't really understand that stage. And they're now turning a lot of the reins over in the business on areas, maybe in the areas that they suck at, or the areas that drain them of energy. They're turning that over to someone else, and they're not really sure how to build that relationship as well. Tom Poland 03:55 Do you find that they often express the sentiment that these people, you know, “Why don't they think like me?” Cameron Herold 04:02 They do until they realize that the better opportunity is to have almost the yin and yang. It's kind of like the “Men are from Mars, women are from marriage”, or “Women are from Venus and a traditional marriage”. You're really looking for the true counterpart, a second-in-command, who you can really trust and who's great at the stuff that you suck at, and who doesn't want to get into the stuff that you're really good at. So that's really what they're looking for. And then they realize that the person isn't supposed to think the same, but they're really supposed to get along well together. Tom Poland 04:28 Right. Perfect! Well-articulated. Thank you, sir. Four and a half minutes left, question number four. You work with a lot of high achievers. They're going to try stuff. They're not sitting on their day, going, “You know, I have a problem but I'm not going to do it”. So, what I'm interested in here is what are some of the common mistakes that some of your new clients tell you that they have made, and that might save some of our listeners some years of frustration? Cameron Herold 04:49 A lot is the lack of focus. A lot of it is because, more than ever, we're really being bombarded with information, right? Whether it's a podcast, or books, or eZines, or magazines, or seminars, or mastermind groups. There are all these amazing ideas coming at us, but they're not necessarily aligned with the vision of where we're going. And entrepreneurs tend to get attracted to big shiny objects. Instead of focusing on the critical few things, they end up focusing on the important many things. So, it's really if they can get themselves focused on what is truly going to steal the company, that's where they went. Tom Poland 05:18 Right. Thank you, sir. Question number five, three and a half minutes left, we're up to one top tip. This is like a valuable free action. It's not going to solve the whole problem, but it might very well take people a step in the right direction? Cameron Herold 05:31 Well, I think the reality is that the core job of the entrepreneur is to grow people, and it's to grow their confidence and to grow their skills. So, I like people to imagine, let's say that your leaders are climbing up two ladders. And in one ladder, they have their left foot and their left hand climbing up. That's “the skills ladder”. And right beside it, they have their right foot and their right hand climbing up “the confidence ladder”. Your job is to grow their confidence and grow their skills. It's not to tell them what to do. It's not to hold them accountable. Flip the org chart upside down, and your job is to support them as they climb up these two ladders, growing their confidence and growing their skills. Tom Poland 06:09 Terrific analogy! Thank you for that. Question number six, after one valuable free resource, where can we direct folks to so they can get some more value from your spectrum of goodies? Cameron Herold 06:21 Sure. Well, lots of it is available, for sure, on The Second in Command Podcast, but I think if we send them to the Invest in Your Leaders Course. If they go to Investinyourleaders.com, if they scroll down to just below the FAQs, there is a free module. One of the 12 modules is given away there. And it's all of the top systems on how to actually have inbox zero with your email every single day so that you're actually not losing customers. You're not frustrating your employees and you're staying on top of the business. But I would have them also not only watch that themselves but have their employees watch it, as well. Grow your people in that area too. Tom Poland 06:56 Terrific! Get rid of some of the clutter so you can focus on the big picture. Thank you, sir. Two minutes left. The last question, question number seven is, what's the one question I should have asked you, but didn't? Cameron Herold 07:07 One question you should have asked me but didn't. Tom Poland 07:10 That's going to be a head-scratcher. You can actually take a minute to think of the question and then take your time to answer it if you want. Cameron Herold 07:17 I think I even want to flip it differently, which is none of this really matters. That at the end of the day, we're all just walking each other home. And at the end of the day, I think if we focus more on having fun and enjoying the journey and hanging out with good people and spending time with our employees and enjoying their lives and helping them if we can just enjoy the journey, we'll be successful. Because at the end of the day, we're all going to die. You know, this is just what we do to make money. I think we often forget that in business where we're so hard-charging, and we're so driving towards our goals, we forget that we're all just walking each other home. Tom Poland 07:52 And that there really isn't a destination, so we might as well enjoy the journey. Cameron Herold 07:56 Yeah. Tom Poland 07:56 Wise words, indeed! Thank you, Cameron Herold. This week on the podcast we have a very special lit up and liberated guest!Meet Liz Morris an incredible friend who #truestory I met on the gram.Liz and I spent quality time together on my travels in her home town of Airlie Beach. Honestly I'm so grateful she welcomed me into her world and it was a highlight not just of the Whitsundays but my entire winter 2021 trip! What I love about Liz is her incredible depth of experience and extremely can do attitude.  She has long since walked out of corporate and is thoroughly thriving as an entrepreneur.BUT it hasn't been a straight road. In fact Liz has pivoted her business time and time again.Forward to today, when she is now focussing on supporting other incredible women to do the same. Liz has traversed from product to service, to product to service business with grace & success. She is a gun at spotting an opportunity her clients potential to step into it.And she's an all round awesome human.Don't miss this episode, it's a cracker! To learn more about Liz & the Boss Motive mission, you can find her here:InstagramWebsite***Let's get to know each other better:Join the Lit Up & Liberated Entrepreneur FB group hereFollow me on IGCheck out my coaching infoGet your FREE digital product decision guide hereJump onto the Momentum Mastermind waitlistOR the Digital Product Academy waitlist here
