Welcome to PERSPECTIVE, a podcast for wedding creatives where we sit down, often with a special guest and talk about our many years of experience in the wedding industry so that you can learn from us and grow YOUR wedding business. On Friday 26 June 2020 Arran Kenny of AKfilms pulled together the UK wedding videographers virtual workshop in order to raise funds for the Black Lives Matter movement. Included in the lineup of educators were Uniques visual, hushabye films, Richard Leng, Micaela Lindsay, handcraft pictures and us, Cinemate. The virtual workshop covered a whole range of topics and did in fact raise £840 for the BLM movement which was great! Thoth-Hermes Podcast
Season 6-Episode 6 – The Power of Language-Jack Fox-Williams

Thoth-Hermes Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later May 30, 2021 95:23

My guest in this episode is Jack Fox-Williams, who graduated in philosophy and history at Goldsmith's University in London. Jack is a freelance writer in Cornwall, an amazing musician and vocalist and a curious-minded explorer of the relationship between science and occultism. Please pay special attention to the music played in the show as it is composed and performed by my guest himself. Jack Fox-Williams became interested in the occult at age 14-15 in discovering the writings of Aleister Crowley, like so many of us. He managed to look behind the veil of ‘forbidden knowledge’ which ultimately led him to many hours reading about history, psychology and philosophy and the bridges that connect these fields of research. Jack knows the world of academia quite well as he has studied not only history and philosophy but also holds a master in law. We’ll be talking a lot about his special interest in hermeticism, how and why it developed at a young age and how Jack is using it in order to expand his consciousness. Jack’s passion is not confined to theoretical musings though, he is also a seasoned practitioner of the occult arts where he tends to take on a holistic approach combining different methods that simply work well for him. He offers insights into his core practices and we dive pretty quickly into the power of language. The definition of semantics as essentially the study and analysis of linguistic systems, how they develop and how we use it becomes a major point of our conversation. Here, Jack sheds some light on authors (and occultists) Robert Anton Wilson and William S. Burroughs and how they influenced him. The omnipresent imprinting process of words on human thoughts, beliefs and behaviour will be discussed in detail as well as the relationship between music, magic and ritual. With Jack’s upcoming book project we will give you an interesting outlook and I hope you’ll welcome him with open arms as I’m sure we will hear a lot more from him in the future. Music played in this episode This week the music on the show is written, composed and performed by our interview guest, Jack Fox-Williams, who is also an extraordinary musician. These are the four tracks that you will be hearing:   1) SCREAM FOR MEfollowed immediately by2) ALL I HAVE (Track starts at 7:53)   3) THROUGH IT ALL (Track starts at 52:27)   4) LET'S GET HIGH (Track starts at 1:26:54)     Intro and Outro Music especially written and recorded for the Thoth-Hermes Podcast by Chris Roberts

Michael Schlitz has been a friend to the show for many years now, in fact you can hear Mike way back on Episode 66 getting into his inspiring story. For those who don't know, Mike was struck by an IED during a road clearing mission back in 2010 in Iraq, disfiguring and burning practically his entire body. This led to a grueling recovery process as one can only imagine which he describes in greater detail in his RangerUp published article. Through tragedy however, Mike sparked a deep friendship with actor and veteran advocate Gary Sinise leading to a smarthome that catered to Mike's injuries built by Gary's foundation as well as a position as a Military & Veteran Resource Manager. Mike now travels the country through his work, and is also a Special Adviser to another great veteran transition organization, GallantFew. We get an update on Mike's life, and discuss the future of helping veterans suffering from post-traumatic injury, and working to stop the epidemic of veteran suicide. Also on Episode 438 we cover former US Army Specialist Chelsea Manning being jailed for refusing to testify in a case regarding Wikileaks, Kristina Wong's piece for Breitbart about the lowering of standards for Green Berets, and we discuss the repercussions of clickbait journalism in today's society. With Jack's book a month away from it's publish date, he's also getting started on the publicity circuit. His first stop in promoting the book was an hour-long sit-down with Patrick Bet-David for Valuetainment, it's receiving an incredible response. We suggest you check it out.
