With roughly half a home's energy use going to heating and cooling, attention is turning to more efficient systems that don't use natural gas. That leads to heat pumps. You may not be well versed on the finer points of heat pumps, but this is likely to rapidly change over the next few years and this episode with satisfy your curiosity to know more. Matt is an Engineering Manager for fuel cell systems at Bosch. He leads a team facing the problem head-on through the development of hydrogen technologies: fuel cells that provide power using hydrogen, and systems that produce hydrogen itself. The systems produce hydrogen through electrolysis, or the splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen — like a fuel cell in reverse. Being the fastest and best driver on the track is Greg Vandersluis' goal when he races. Helping out, giving back, being friendly and making driving safer one person at a time is his higher calling. Professionally, Greg is the lead driving training instructor at the Bosch proving grounds in Flat Rock, Michigan and winter-proving grounds in Baudette, Minnesota. Greg teaches a performance and safety driving program that helps to provide engineers with the driving skills to validate and calibrate their innovations on the test tracks. The program which he had modified and advanced meets some of the highest standards in the industry. Greg's mission goes beyond his job. Steven has worked and lived in the U.S., Switzerland, Australia and China throughout his 15 years with Bosch, bringing a unique and broad perspective to the eBike team. Working with NASA, Principal AI research and SoundSee project lead, Dr. Samarjit Das led the mission to put SoundSee on the International Space Station.
