We live in a broken world full of pain and suffering. We are bound to suffer trauma and grief; how do we navigate that pain as believers? Pastor's wife, writer and podcaster Danielle Kelly joins the show today to share how God invited her into biblical lament as a lifestyle and how choosing to trust God's character in the process transformed her life and relationship with Him. SHOW NOTES Biblical lament is more than crying aloud with your grief; it's grieving with a purpose that draws you into deeper trust in God.  On the other side of entering lament with Jesus is beauty, joy, and new growth. Embrace lament as a lifestyle that will ebb and flow throughout your life. Make space for it whenever it arrives.  QUOTES “One of the things that God started to show me is that lament is beautiful because I was scared of it. I said ‘Okay, I see you inviting me into this, but I feel like it’s a dark pit that I can’t see the other side of, and I don’t know what’s at the bottom of that pit.’ But Jesus is on the other side and He has lament with a purpose, our lament is not empty. He’s a savior that knows lament well and His invitation is not something He hasn’t walked through Himself.” -Danielle Kelly “When you sit in the darkness of lament with the Lord and allow Him to comfort you, to minister to you, to speak to you…then He starts to water you. Then all of a sudden beauty comes out of it and you are able to sing. You are able to worship, you are able to have a different perspective, but it has to go through a process of sitting in the darkness and feeling all the feelings and being there.” -Danielle Kelly LINKS FROM THE SHOW Dark Clouds Deep Mercy CONNECT Connect with Danielle Instagram  // Podcast Connect with Christine Facebook // Instagram // Books Visit How to Thrive as a Pastor’s Wife to access Christine's resources for ministry wives like you! In our culture, leadership is something we all want. We want to be given authority so we can have a sense of control and purpose. How can we as individuals work to develop the skills of a leader? How can we become more aware of our motives for leadership? Join us today on the Lasting Change podcast, where we are talking with Danielle Kelly, One Collective Area director of Europe and Catalyst of Athens, Greece. Together, we talk about Danielle's journey into leadership, the hardships and the lessons she has learned to become a leader, and the necessity for failure and taking initiative.

Have you ever thought your voice doesn't matter? We may not say it out loud, but on the inside, we all wrestle with that thought. It was a joy to talk with Danielle Kelly on this episode.  Danielle is a Writer, Speaker, Podcaster, and Life Coach who shares how she discovered that her voice does matter. She wondered how her own natural abilities, the things we casually take for granted are God-given gifts we shouldn't hold back.  It is easy for questioning, fear, and worry to fill your head and heart in moments when you are by yourself and wonder, "Do I have a voice?"  For Danielle, it was a choice not to dim her light anymore and be who God created her to be fully. In the telling [of our story] it is a part of the healing. - Danielle KellyDanielle also shares about how the abandonment she felt from her father at a young age, disconnected her from God at times.  Through a lot of prayer and processing, she has created the Unashamed & Free Podcast.  Her desire is for women to live freely. If you question your voice or ever thought shame held you back, then take a listen to Danielle's parable today.Reflection Questions:How are you learning how to use your voice to yourself, others, and to God?How have you been hiding your gifts lately? As leaders you are bound to experience those moments when you are dealing with people and it all falls apart. You question your leadership and you wonder what you could have done differently. It shakes a leader's confidence. I've often said that people are the reason we go into ministry and they are also often the reason we want to throw in the towel.  Danielle Kelly answers today's question: “How do you bounce back from a team fallout?”  Danielle is a pastor's wife, writer, certified professional life coach, and host of the Unashamed and Free Podcast, leader of women's ministry at Chicago West Bible Church. CONVERSATION TIDBITS They tell you during training that there's going to be conflicts, but I feel like nothing can fully prepare you for when it actually happens. (5:40) You can't skip forward in the journey to confidence. Fallout was like a machete to my identity. You're deeply cut. You need to lay down and get restoration. You need to let the Lord deal with those wounds.  (9:34) Condemnation is like you're wrong. And you're never going to get out of it. But I'm like, oh, no, no, no. I think the work of knowing who I am in Christ has helped (13:47) I think that I survived the fallouts because of the work that I did beforehand. It's what you're doing in a secret place, daily habits in your relationship with God. When fallout happens, even though you're like, “Whoa, this stinks.” You are more prepared for it because you've had positive things take root inside of you. (18:11) This does not define me. It doesn't take away my calling. It doesn't. (21:20) I don't like conflict. Sometimes to get back up, you have to go back into the fire. But you have more control of it this time. (22:48) Everybody would experience the fallout. And if I didn't address the elephant in the room, it was just going to create more toxicity. (23:42) I am a justice girl to the core. I'm like you will not get away with this. The Word has been teaching me, “I will fight your battles”. I will rebuild the team. And you don't need to stand up and prove anything. Let me do it.”  (28:12) REGISTER TODAY! Danielle and Annie will both be presenting at the Lead Bold conference in Chicago November 3rd and 4th. Check out the link below! She discusses Dana White's recent announcement that she will be the next UFC Strawweight to face Rose Namajunas for the belt, her reaction to a match-ending cut on her face that occurred during her grappling exhibition match against Danielle Kelly last week at Fury Grappling 3, and the latest in Dana's public spat with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Then, after Matt advises listeners to watch the UFC Fight Pass show 'Year of the Fighter' profiling his season of The Ultimate Fighter and bout against Georges St-Pierre to win the UFC Welterweight championship, Katlyn Chookagian calls in ahead of her fight against Jennifer Maia at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs Chikadze on January 15th. Nothing evokes the magic, the tainted/painted history of the showplace of the west Las Vegas, Nevada like the gaudy brilliance of its brash neon signs. Our summer 2013 issue was entitled Electric Avenue and dedicated to the neon signs that pointed the way to lodging, lunch and lots of roadside attractions but none could quite match Las Vegas for pure size and scope of magnificent displays of gas and glass. One of our Tunnel Vision articles in that issue focused on the Neon Boneyard of Las Vegas, also known as the Neon Museum. In this podcast Danielle Kelly, executive director of the museum, fills in some of the history of the display and shares her own artistic passion for preserving these unique works of art.
