Integrated Masculine Leadership Program: http://bit.ly/integratedmasculineleadership Emotional intelligence is arguably the most important skill you can develop in the 21st century. To thrive in relationships, as a parent or in a leadership position, it's imperative that you not only deepen your own capacity for emotional self and co-regulation but you also create the space for those around you to deepen theirs. Even in the corporate world this is becoming more commonly recognised. As the saying goes, “IQ will get you hired, EQ will get you promoted”. It's very common for men to develop a limited capacity when comes to emotional intelligence and their ability to recognise and communicate what is happening for them emotionally. This in itself isn't a great thing, but the real issues start when that starts to impact their ability to connect with what is going on emotionally for those around them. Emotional agility is essentially our ability to perceive, understand, and regulate our own and others emotions. In this episode we dive into: Why exploring EQ is Important for ourselves Why exploring EQ is important for our relationships Importance for parenting. What we are uncomfortable with in ourselves we will be uncomfortable with in others What blocks men from developing emotional agility? The collective story that “logic” is more important that “emotion”. Reframe our view of emotions. Reconnecting with emotions is a body based process. Trevor is a mentor for young men and a men's coach. He specializes in embodied practice and believes with conviction that when we learn to make ourselves available to be truly felt and seen by other men, great personal unfolding can happen. After an 18 year career as a holistic fitness coach for individuals, companies and athletic teams, Trevor met a personal fork in the road as he became a husband, father and gym owner. Many threads of manhood converged and on one level things were “just as they should be”...on another they were tearing at the seams. After several years of relative inner crisis and struggle Trevor found men's circle work, developed skills, tools, perspectives and relationships as the balm to his own soul ache and need for meaning. It's these same threads that Trevor uses to help men, young and old, to reweave their personal stories together in circles and as clients. Trevor is the Oahu Director for Boys to Men Mentoring Hawaii and the Director for the Sacred Sonz Youth Program. He also has served as a Pillar facilitator for the Sacred Sons Movement. He works virtually with men of all ages from around the world as they hit their personal thresholds and find meaning in their own chaos and beauty. It is clear to Trevor that he would absolutely not be who he is now without the firm wisdom of his partner Elisa and his beautiful daughters, step kids and the others who have held him over the years. From New Jersey originally, he lives happily on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. In this episode we discuss: Trevor's transition into fatherhood by supporting his partner through 2 homebirths. How he learnt (through many challenging experiences) to let go of control and to function within the family system. The process of honouring his partner's transformation and learning to respond to her wisdom and guidance, while maintaining connection with his own internal compass. The single most important thing that allowed Trevor to transition from the “washing machine” of transformation into a much more grounded, healthy and centred space. The importance of untangling co-dependency within our relationships and family unit. Monday 8th March was international womens day and in this episode I touched on what we can do to support the women in our lives in a more meaningful way. I put a call out to women on and the overwhelming feedback on what they're wanting was two things: - Genuine acknowledgment for everything they have done and continue to do. - Deep presence and listening/being willing to learn from the women in their lives. We can always do better in this arena, and so the work continues.

He has around two decades of experience in coaching traversing relational physics, sexuality and sexual mastery, life coaching and archetypal psychology, strength and conditioning, nutrition and physiology. His core philosophy is that embodied physicality layered with broad self-awareness is the key to going deep and stepping forward in our lives. It is the language of the body that has the capacity to express the truth behind our intellectualised and constructed stories, and it is our physicality that grounds our human experience. Our bodies have the ability to really show us where we are, and where we are NOT in our lives. Ross is a father of three sons, who have been (and continue to be) the ultimate crucible and the clearest mirrors in his life. It's imperative that we redefine what it means to provide. And it's imperative that this be informed by what we know about childrens' development and also what is required for our partners to be nourished and thriving. It will be unique set up for every family and I don't believe in being prescriptive with this stuff. Trust your gut. Obviously providing in terms of finances is important (how cool that this can be a team sport these days), but to only focus on this is a bit one dimensional. What are we providing in terms of our ability to create safety and relaxation in the home? What are we providing in terms of the healthy physical, mental and emotional development of our children? What are we providing in terms rituals and tradition? The answer to these questions will determine the legacy we are leaving.
