We've all started something only to get sidetracked and never complete it. When you have a large task to complete, it can get overwhelming. I truly loved talking to Anastasia Allison. Anastasia is the Founder of Kula Cloth, an "antimicrobial pee cloth for anybody who squats when they pee" (kulacloth.com). Since my interview with Anastasia, I now have a Kula. I absolutely love it. This is a must for all active, outdoorsy women. In this interview, Anastasia generously shares her experiences about being bullied, shattering suffocating beliefs around work and money, the acceptance provided by the outdoors, and the importance of daily dancing. Anastasia is also a talented violinist who is part of The Musical Mountaineers, where the love of music and the mountains is experienced in the most unique way. This is a conversation that really spoke to me as we all contemplate new chapters, what we are living for and how to be confident in our passions and dreams. There is much to learn from Anastasia Allison, and I truly wanted to jump through Zoom to go for a hike with her. Enjoy. Original broadcast on CIUT 89.5FM and www.ciut.fm. Heavenly with Robin Turner in conversation with David Eastaugh - talking about the label and new book, 'Believe in Magic'. A label responsible for creating satellite communities of fans around the world and at all the major festivals, Heavenly was set up by Jeff Barrett in 1990 after several years working for Factory and Creation as the acid house revolution was in full swing; early releases set the tone and tempo for the mood of the decade to come - their first single was produced by perhaps the most revered acid house DJ of them all, Andrew Weatherall; and this was quickly followed by era-defining singles from Saint Etienne, Flowered Up and Manic Street Preachers, music which perhaps captures the flavour of the early '90s better than any other.

Welcome back to the Deeper Series! If you are new to the series, you can find three more Deeper episodes preceding this one. Debut episode was on August 18, 2020. Casey has some cool nuggets that I hope will blow your mind. You think the Bible isn't historical. Well, here you go history buffs...Word! Thank you Jogging Jesus...aka Casey. You down? Depressed? You are not alone. Please don't believe those lies in your head that you don't matter. You absolutely matter! Look how God rises up Daniel from the depths of despair. God uses tough times and bad people to help fertilize the ground for the good to sprout out. Rom 8:28. We complain about tough times yet we can't get stronger without resistance. Think about it. Start lifting your negatives to God and then start asking God how he plans to leverage you like God did Daniel.Ending on a song note, Casey sent some good ones. Cornerstone by Hillsong. My Hope is Built on Nothing Less by the Island Sing. Check those out. As for this one got a strong pull for an audible for any of your doubting. This is called 'Believe' by the Social Club Misfits. Really digging on those guys...the whole album. Check 'em out and please add them to your 'need a lift' list...now go, lift the negative, bet on hope, keep asking for the purpose, love, serve...
Self-doubt can cripple a person. Overcoming insecurities and doubts takes belief in oneself. Know that you are who you are and you are great. You have a purpose and it's your job to fulfill it. Keep your thoughts on target with your goals and dreams and do not let others tamper with them at all. Stay on your defined path towards your goal and let no one derail you. If you’re enjoying the show, it’s safe to assume there are others out there like you who would also enjoy the show. Help them find it. His Grace shares with us words from St. Dorotheos of Gaza and St. Macarius of Egypt about seeking guidance. St. Dorotheos of Gaza said: "In the Book of Proverbs it says, 'Those who have no guidance fall like leaves but there is safety in much counsel.'Take a good look at this saying, brothers. Look at what Scripture is teaching us. It assures us that we should not set ourselves up as guide posts, that we should not consider ourselves sagacious, that we should not believe we can direct ourselves. We need assistance, we need guidance in addition to God's grace. No one is more wretched, no one is more easily caught unawares, than a man who has no one to guide him along the road to God. It says, 'Those who have no guidance fall like leaves'. Leaves are always green in the beginning, they grow vigorously and are pleasing to look at. Then after a short time they dry up and fall off, and in the end they are blown about by the wind and trodden under foot. So is the man who is not guided by someone. At first he has great fervor about fasting, keeping vigil, keeping silence, and obedience and other good customs. Then after a short time the fire is extinguished and, not having anyone to guide him and strengthen him and kindle his fire again, he shrivels up and so, becoming disobedient, he falls and finally becomes a tool in the hand of his enemies, who do what they like with him." St. Macarius of Egypt said: "When Abba Macarius dwelt in the great desert, he was the only one living as an anchorite, but lower down there was another desert where several brothers dwelt. The old man was surveying the road when he saw Satan drawing near in the likeness of a man and he passed by his dwelling...The old man said to him, 'Where are you off to? 'He said, 'I am going to stir up the memories of the brethren.’..With these words he departed...The old man said, 'Ah, you did not find any friends down there?’ He replied, 'Yes, I have a monk who is a friend down there. He at least obeys me and when he sees me he changes like the wind.’ The old man asked him the name of this monk. 'Theopemtus,’ he replied. With these words he went away. Then Abba Macarius got up and went to the desert below his own...he inquired which was the one on the mountain called Theopemptus, and when he had found out he went to his cell. Theopemptus received him with joy. When he was alone with him the old man asked him, 'How are you getting on?’ Theopemptus replied, 'Thanks to your prayers, all goes well.’ The old man asked: 'Do not your thoughts war against you?’ He replied: 'Up to now, it is all right,’ for he was afraid to admit anything. The old man said to him, 'See how many years I have lived as an ascetic, and am praised by all, and though I am old, the spirit of fornication troubles me.’ Theopemptus said, 'Believe me, Abba, it is the same with me.’ The old man went on admitting that other thoughts still warred against him, until he had brought him to admit them about himself... He was watching the road once more when he saw the devil, to whom he said, 'Where are you going this time?’ He replied, 'To arouse the memories of the brothers,’ and he went away. When he came back the saint asked him, 'How are the brothers? 'He replied that it had gone badly. The old man asked him why. He replied, 'They are all obdurate, and the worst is the one friend I had who used to obey me. I do not know what has changed him, but not only does he not obey me anymore, but he has become the most obdurate of them all. So I have promised myself not to go down there again at least not for a long time from now.’ When he had said this, he went away leaving the old man, and the saint returned to his cell."

In the latest Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast, we chat with Composer Nathan Lanier, whose latest project is the brilliant new Apple TV+ mystery series, 'Home Before Dark'.Multi-instrumentalist Nathan Lanier is a composer for film, television, and games who is known for his signature cinematic dance music on projects including 'So You Think You Can Dance' and 'Dancing With The Stars', along with scoring the mini-series 'Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn'. He has also scored over 20 feature films, including, 'Justin Bieber’s Believe', 'Jem & The Holograms', 'Max Steel', and the 'High Strung' movies. Additionally, his music has been featured on 'Conan', 'Ellen', 'Glee Live Tour', 'ISU World Figure Skating Championships', and the 'Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics', along with working with brands such as Microsoft, American Express, T-Mobile, LG, McDonalds, Ducati, the LA Clippers, and Korean Air.Nathan's latest project sees him take on the music for Apple TV+ series 'Home Before Dark'. The series is a dramatic mystery inspired by the reporting of a young investigative journalist, Hilde Lysiak. Directed and executive produced by Jon M. Chu ('Crazy Rich Asians'), the drama follows a young girl named Hilde (Brooklynn Prince) who moves from the city of Brooklyn to the small lakeside town her father left behind. While there, her dogged pursuit of the truth leads her to unearth a cold case that everyone in town, including her own father, tried hard to bury. One of the central themes of the show is to empower and give children a voice in society. Nathan’s score literally does this by featuring a Youth Choir throughout the season. His score has a childlike wonderment that is mixed with a hint of darkness. The soundtrack has been released alongside the series’ premiere. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

It is a week of returns to the Geektown Radio podcast, as Matt from Entertainment Talk returns to chat about all the latest tv & film new and air date info. Plus, we have the return of the amazing cinematographer Gonzalo Amat, who joins us to chat about his work on the much-anticipated 4th & final season of Amazon's 'The Man In The High Castle'. Gonzalo Amat is the cinematographer for Amazon’s series 'The Man In The High Castle', which returns to Amazon Prime for the 4th and final season on Friday, 15th November 2019. Gonzalo’s stunning framing and visuals plunge the audience into a world of alternate history, where the Axis powers won WWII and North America is no longer the land of the free.He has been nominated for an Outstanding Cinematography Emmy for his work on critically acclaimed drama and was previously nominated in the same category in 2018. He was also recognised by his guild earlier this year with an ASC Award (American Society of Cinematographers) nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Episode of a Series for 'High Castle' as well.Gonzalo has worked on many other notable projects including shooting the pilots for both 'Happy!', and 'SEAL Team', along with working on shows such as 'Person of Interest' & 'Believe', and films such as 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones'. Join the conversation. What do you do when your faith is being challenged? What do you do when you think your faith is not enough? We all face issues of life and sometimes may even question our faith. When issues arise in our families, relationships, our health, marriages and in our churches. Life has a way of making you question everything you believe in and hold so close. All through out the scriptures we see faith under fire. God has given all of us a measure of faith. What we do with it is our decision. God does not force us to do anything. God gave us a free will. We can build on that measure, we expand it, we walk in great faith or we can lose all faith. We may have faith for something small and that's good. Where is your faith for something big? Hebrews 11:1 says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen, KJV. When we read alittle further we see in that Hebrews 11:6 says, But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him, KJV.
I wanted to make a quick announcement to do some housekeeping since I record my episodes so far in advance I don’t always get to announce or share exactly what is going on or provide updates or sometimes things are not as up to date as I would like! So I did want to let you all know that there is officially a date and location for the bikini mastermind live event and I am so excited about it, I had put out interest forms about where you guys wanted it to be and if you would pay for it and just getting info and insight from you all during the planning stages. I did decide to make it Free for those who show up and I am going to host it in San Diego on Saturday October 12, 2019 since most people said they would go anywhere but those who didn’t say anywhere did say San Diego was their pick I do want to capitalize on the time I will be spending with those coming so I am limiting the number of seats to no more than 15. I am excited to meet those of you who are already registered and can’t wait to connect with those of you who are ready to go sign up now! The theme of this event of course is building more than just a body and we won’t just be diving into things that many competitors struggles with in the offseason or with the post show blues or your relationship with food, your body and your goals but we are also going to dive into the mindset of prepping. The purpose of this event is to make sure that you come out of it with a mindset that supports you where you are at in this journey of competing Whether you are new to the sport and prepping for your first show, or you are struggling with the post show blues, or you will be wrapping up or starting a new season at the time, or maybe you are in a bit of a limbo stage. You are going to develop the mindset required and learn the psychology and personal development tools for loving your body, having a healthy relationship with food, enjoying a fulfilling prep, and connecting deeply with your goals Regardless, we all know that it takes incredible effort to commit to creating our physique or committing to this lifestyle and sometimes it can be easy to go on autopilot so I want to make sure that regardless of if you do or do not have a date in mind, you have the mindset that supports you all the way through. We are going to be having a lot of fun talking to each other, sharing experiences, stories, and just creating real connections in person but of course I am going to be sharing with you guys some of my key principles, insights, practices, and mentorship on topics including the relationship you have with food, body image, mindset identity and personal development work, self-love, standard and expectation setting, and so much more truly we are just going to go really deep and I will be in contact with attendees leading up to it to make sure that I tailor the event even more so to you and your needs As a coach to many bikini competitors I am excited to show even more of you face to face in a really beautiful, warm, and open setting how I combine psychology with personal development using my signature PTG process to help competitors build more than just a body. I have been in your position and get it, as a competitor myself I am no stranger to the post show blues or the mental demand that prep has or even the toll of not knowing what is next. Throughout my time earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology I focused my studies on eating disorders, body image, self-concept, mindfulness, and personal growth. During my time in school I wrote a #1 best-selling self-help book called 'Believe your way to Badass' and became a highly sought after personal development coach worldwide. After experiencing the post-show blues myself, healing my own negative relationship with food and learning to love my body at every stage, I made it my mission to help other competitors Build More than Just a Body. Like I said, this is a free event for those who show up but there is a butts in seats fee to make sure I get the proper sized venue, come prepared with the right amount of extra fun stuff, and of course make sure I know that you will be there. It is an accountability thing really. So, you pay $35 to reserve your seat, then I give you that money back only when you arrive for the event. If you are interested in coming and would like to reserve your seat or learn more make sure to click HERE or on the podcasts main page www.celestial.fit/podcast of course you can always reach out to me on Instagram for more info and any questions you might have that’s @celestial_fit.

Dacota is quickly becoming a music festival staple. His passion and style stopped me in my tracks when I had the chance to see him perform. His song 'Believe in Something' let me know I needed to interview him, I was not disappointed. His honest reflection about his journey from Christian to agnostic/atheist was sincere and thought provoking. No surprise he was definitely labeled as 'anointed' in the church and when you hear his music you know he has something different. Look him up on social media!

On this episode I discuss my 6 month experiences with sex workers. I also chat about my biggest takeaways from Simon Sinek's book 'Start with Why'. 3 new weird stories are covered. A new mixtape sandwich in between. Finally a few quick reviews of TV shows/movies I've recently watched. Simon Sinek's 'Start With Why' book. My Biggest Takeaways. I found Simon Sinek watching Evan Carmicheal's 'Believe' YouTube channel. I was fascinated by Mr. Sinek's book title, 'Start With Why.' The question 'why do we do what we do' fascinates me. If you don't already know, self-help books are my jam. This was more of a business book and a slog to get through at times. Also, Mr. Sinek goes on and on about Apple, Steve Jobs, and their products. Nonetheless, there were some great quotes I pulled from the book. Here are five that spoke to me. -'The example starts to prove that people don't buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it.' pg 41 -'This is one of the primary reasons why teachers tell students to go with their first instinct when taking a multiple-choice test, to trust their gut. The more time spent thinking about the answer, the bigger the risk that it may be the wrong one. Our limbic brains are smart and often know the right thing to do.'pg 58 -'Great companies don't hire skilled people and motivate them, they hire already motivated people and inspire them.' pg 94 -'Most people in the world are HOW-types. Most people are quite functional in the real world and can do their jobs very well. Some may be very successful and even make millions of dollars, they will never build billion-dollar businesses or change the world. HOW-types don't need WHY-types to do well. But WHY-guys, for all their vision and imagination, often get the short end of the stick. Without someone inspired by their vision and the knowledge to make it a reality, most WHY-types end up as starving visionaries, people with all the answers but never accomplishing much themselves.' pg 141 -'The reason so many small businesses fail, however, is because passion alone can't cut it. For passion to survive, it needs structure. A WHY without the HOW's, passion without structure, has a very high probability of failure.' pg 184 By purchasing 'Start With Why' through the provided link, here https://amzn.to/2K1xlX7 you will be supporting both myself and the author. Did any of these takeaways resonate with you? Bring on season 2. Netflix The Rain...Was ok. I'm not looking forward to another season. This dragged for me. Upgrade (Movie). Wow. I dug this film. Robocop, Terminator vibes. Violent too. This came straight out of the 80s with a futuristic twist. Loved this. Sense 8...I've watched this from the beginning. I'm a fan of the Wachowski's stuff. I enjoyed there their Matrix films, Cloud Atlas, Jupiter Ascending. I enjoyed this show, but it's not perfect. It lingers on certain situations for a while, and others it wraps up immediately after a long build. The romances and chemistry between the 8 main characters is the highlight of this series for me. Causing me to tear up several times throughout. The action was cool as well. As a whole, this fun. Black Lightning...For a CW show to include topics such as experimentation on poor, urban neighborhoods. Drugs, gang violence. A strong sense of family within the nuclear unit. Black Lightning was fantastic. This was miles ahead of Netflix's season 1 of Luke Cage. Jason Inman of the Geek History Lesson podcast hailed this show for being the best CW-superhero show of 2018. My 6 Month Sex Worker Experience I've been seeing sex workers for the last 6 months. I've had good and bad experiences. The people I've seen have all been in New Jersey. They've been transgender women and some cross-dressers. I've never considered myself bisexual, maybe I am now. Who knows. I'm reminded of the good experiences while going through bad ones. Normally they happen when the sex worker lives alone or is alone at their place. When they take their time, give a massage, get to know you a bit. I'm often nervous when first meeting a lady of the night. These elements help ease that tension. If the sex is great, this makes the whole encounter an A+. Bad experiences consist of someone saying they'll do something during the initial contact, then when you get there they no longer do it or want to upsell you to the 'girlfriend experience'. A bad experience happens when the escort looks nothing like their pictures in their online profile. When she says she has no remaining condoms or lube. A bad experience happens when she says she lives alone but someone pops out of the closet while you're having foreplay. Yes, all of this has happened to me during my sexcapades. But I don't regret any of it. I prefer when the sex workers have their own place. I work in a hotel, at the front desk. I've seen clients walking in asking for the working women. It's awkward, weird. The escorts never give their real names so the client is in the lobby loitering waiting to hear from the worker. I know, I've done this! In New Jersey, there seems to be less hotel security as opposed to NYC hotels. Less awkward in Jersey? Maybe. It has been a financial drain. Most sex workers charge $200 for an hour. This doesn't include the uber ride to/from the destination. If they're local that's even better. When I went for a two year period of being celibate I had more money in the bank. Like I said before, no regrets. When I abstain from watching porn and save my ejaculation for the sex worker(about a 6 day period), I don't have trouble getting it up. If it's the other way around I have a hard time getting going, or if the sex worker is a little more masculine or rigid with rules, I don't tend to get excited. For the most part, my experience has been positive. No life changing STD's, some bumps in the road here and there. I can be more consistent with fully protecting myself. I will do better. Click Here To Leave A Review (takes 2 min) Take the FREE Winning Leader Assessment www.WinningLeader.io In this episode Eric Barker, author of 'Barking Up The Wrong Tree' and I discuss: When you hear the phrase 'Coach Your Best' what does that mean to you? What inspired you to write this book How do you define 'success' and Where are we getting the concept of 'success' wrong? The world of coaching in sports and performance often brings big egos which can lead to challenges with trust and cooperation....you've written a chapter titled 'Do Nice Guys Finish Last'...so do nice 'coaches' finish last? What can coaches learn about trust and cooperation from street gangs? The importance of TRUST in a coaching relationship Coaches and athletes get inspired by hearing great stories that serve as motivation and inspiration...but I'm not so sure that coaches truly understand the power of story in helping athletes become champions. Eric's 3 P's for a successful story In chapter 3 'Do Quitters Never Win and Winners Never Quit' you talk about the importance of story as it relates to things such as grit and the number one indicator of a child's emotional well being. What do coaches need to know about the power of story? How can coaches apply your 'games mechanics' concept to help their athletes be more successful? (briefly discuss the four areas WNGF) What's the relationship between GRIT and the importance of story? Just about EVERY athlete has struggled with self-belief. In Ch 5 you talk about 'Believe in yourself....sometimes'. What can coaches learn about belief from a Kung Fu Artist and people who don't feel fear? The power of forgiveness and it's role in self-confidence The concept of 'Double Think'...a section Eric had to cut from the book
