Pascal Forotti, managing director of the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C., talks with Darley Newman, PBS travel host reporting here for Insider Travel Report, about his historic hotel next to the Potomac River and Georgetown. The hotel was renovated and reopened in 2016, featuring a whiskey bar with more than 350 types of whiskey in over 2,500 bottles. With next year being the 50th anniversary of the Watergate break-in of 1972, guests can visit or reside in room 214, the site of the Watergate scandal. Bill spoke to Paris Themmen is an actor best known for his role as Mike Teevee in 1971's family classic film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Themmen was born in Boston in 1959. Themmen appeared in radio and TV commercials, voice-overs and theater performing on Broadway in Mame with Ann Miller in 1967 and in Rothschilds in 1970. In 1971, aged 11, he got his breakthrough role in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as Mike Teevee. Declaring a hiatus from acting at age 14 to "just be a kid," Themmen went on to receive a B.F.A. in theatre from New York University. Smitten with the urge to travel, he founded Access International, a travel service that arranged Europe-bound charter flights for backpackers

Joining “Disney Enchantment” on Oct. 1 will be “Harmonious” at EPCOT, one of the largest nighttime spectaculars ever created for a Disney park. This new show will bring the globe together at World Showcase Lagoon in a celebration of Disney music that inspires people worldwide. It's a grand, powerful tribute to the stories and songs that unite us, embracing new technical magic that incorporates pyrotechnics, choreographed moving fountains, lighting and media in new ways. “Harmonious” will invite Guests to travel the globe through new interpretations of classic Disney songs as you've never heard them before, reimagined in more than a dozen languages by a diverse group of 240 artists from around the world. There's also new daytime entertainment stirring at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Check out this artist rendering of “Disney KiteTails,” which will come alive several times daily at the Discovery River Amphitheater beginning Oct. 1. Performers will fly windcatchers and kites of all shapes and sizes, while out on the water elaborate three-dimensional kites – some stretching to 30 feet long – will depict Disney animal friends, including Simba, Zazu, Baloo and King Louie. These colorful creations will dance through the sky to the beat of favorite Disney songs in an uplifting, vibrant experience for the whole family. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be the hosts for “The World's Most Magical Celebration,” and they'll be decked out in sparkling new EARidescent fashions for the 50th anniversary. As you can see in the photo above, their best pals want to get in on the shimmer, too, as Donald Duck and Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto, and Chip ‘n' Dale will be sporting their own custom-made EARidescent looks beginning Oct. 1. Guests will get a chance to see them when they travel through Magic Kingdom Park several times daily in the new “Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade.” golden character sculptures These eight friends will also be featured in special golden character sculptures debuting Oct. 1 at Magic Kingdom; in this artist rendering, you can see Mickey and Minnie shining in the sunlight near Cinderella Castle. There will be 50 characters total in this series of sculptures that will be displayed across all four theme parks. We'll soon reveal more of the “Disney Fab 50” as excitement builds for the big day, as well as the surprising ways Guests will be able to interact with these beautiful sculptures as part of the 50th anniversary celebration.

Disney announced some new offerings coming to WDW for the 50th Anniversary including a new fireworks show at Magic Kingdom, 50 Gold Statues of Characters placed around the parks, a new cavalcade, and a new daytime show at Animal Kingdom. Disney also announced that Harmonious will debut on October 1st and shared a new image of the show. The first images of the reimagining of Disney's Contemporary Resort featuring rooms themed to the Incredibles were released by Disney. A new Tower of Terror movie starring Scarlett Johansson is in production.

One of iconic musician Joni Mitchell's most beloved albums, “Blue,” has its 50th birthday this week. According to Ann Powers, NPR's music critic, it's an album that has continuously restored itself over the decades, offering new meanings to different listeners.  Love, loss, place and loneliness, all themes of the album that resonate deeply and profoundly. Mitchell in the past has described making the album as bleeding the songs onto the pages. In honor of the anniversary, the artist's label has also released “Blue 50,” which features previously unreleased recordings from the album. Fifty years ago this week, 'The New York Times' published the first in a series of articles based on a classified Defense Department study that was leaked to the paper by Daniel Ellsberg. This study came to be known as the Pentagon Papers. It chronicled decades of failed U.S. policy in Vietnam, and the ways the American public was misled in how the war was conducted. We listen back to archival interviews with Ellsberg and Ben Bradlee of 'The Washington Post,' who ran their own series on the documents. Later, we remember actor Ned Beatty, who died this week and critic David Bianculli reviews the Apple TV+ series 'Physical,' starring Rose Byrne.
