During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, you may feel overwhelmed with information, statistics, and more questions than answers in how to protect or support your sisters. We invited Megan Hatfield, Alpha Chi Omega's Assistant Director of Education and Leadership Initiatives, to share her insight into how chapters and their members can take the resources available to them to be the kind of sisters the potential survivors in your sisterhood need. Tune in to hear Megan's fresh perspective unpacking the intersection that she often works with between domestic violence and sexual violence, the value of peer facilitation for some of these conversations, and how to communicate that you believe your sisters when you can't find the right words.
Need a new recruitment strategy to retain interested future sisters into passionate, contributing members? Let's try authenticity. Our potential new members deserve to see clearly what membership would be like if they join, not what you want it to look like or feel like it should look like, but what it would actually be like. We invited Zafyre Turner, past chapter consultant for Alpha Chi Omega and current Customer Success Manager at PhiredUp, to share how her sorority journey started not with recruitment but with emersion. Dream with us how you can showcase the real sisterhood you are a part of and love before, during, and after recruitment. So let's revitalize your current & future members' (and your own) recruitment experience.

In this episode, Layla and Rob sit down with InterVarsity colleagues Brooke Pland and Maddie Cummings to get a sense of Gen. Z's perspective on women and men partnering together in ministry. These two women offer prophetic words to the church about representation, getting rid of gender-based leadership roles, and the importance of using the right job titles. If you have Gen. Z Christians in your life or faith community, this episode is a must-listen! Bios Maddie Cummings loves Jesus and joyfully serves in campus ministry with InterVarsity at CSU Channel Islands. She loves coffee and is a barista — her go-to is an oat milk cappuccino. She holds a degree in Global Studies and is always looking for ways to immerse herself and learn from other cultures. She would say she's a socially introverted, emotionally self-aware, and funny gal! She's quick-witted, blunt (maybe too often…), and a Swiftie. She hopes to make the world a better place by holding space for people to engage with Jesus in the hard things of the world! Brooke Pland is a campus staff minister with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA, serving within the Greek InterVarsity branch. For the last several years, she has worked with the fraternity & sorority community at her alma mater, U.C. Santa Barbara, where she studied communication, French, and journalism and from which she is an Alpha Chi Omega alumna. She is passionate about empowering women in leadership in all spheres of influence, especially in the church. Frances first got involved with SSDP in 2011, when she co-founded the Northwestern University chapter as a freshman. Although she had known that the War on Drugs was irrational and ineffective before attending college, it wasn't until she attended her first Midwest Regional Conference at Roosevelt University that she learned that drug policies were also unjust and inhumane. Since then, harm reduction has been a guiding principle behind all of her professional and personal pursuits, and she strives to educate people about the intersectionalities associated with the War on Drugs. In the drug policy world, Frances has served on SSDP's Board of Directors, and has worked with cannabis law and industry organizations to research cannabis policy in various states, and write and review applications for cannabis cultivation centers and dispensary licenses. On campus, she was involved with Sexual Health and Assault Peer Educators (SHAPE), Alpha Chi Omega sorority and and has served as the President of the Panhellenic Association.Goals for SSDP Peer Education Program1) To promote open and honest dialogue around drug use, drug policy and drug culture2) To reduce drug-related harms through a lens of love, rather than stigma or punishment3) Convey factual information about drugs, including how to access further resources4) Convey factual information about drug policy, including how to access further resourcesSSDP Peer Educators achieve this goal through three primary activities1) Facilitating small-group educational programs in residence halls, in fraternities and sororities, for other student groups and high schools, and during Orientation Week2) Providing students with informal counseling and professional referrals3) Planning campus-wide events in collaboration with other student groups, academic departments or community organizations4) Soliciting feedback and communicating to National staff to ensure that the program continually meets students' needs.Referenceshttps://www.youtube.com/user/thedrugpolicydealer/videoshttp://thedrugclassroom.comhttp://ssdp.org/justsayknow
As women are wrongly barred from NFL locker rooms, unfairly ridiculed for taking selfies at baseball games, and sexually harassed by their college coaches, they have found a new champion: Bram Weinstein. Then again, cheering on the female gender is nothing new for our host, who recounts the story of his college transformation into the official “Chi guy” - a mascot of sorts - for Alpha Chi Omega, the very same sorority being lambasted for their “anti-social” behavior at the Diamondbacks game. Speaking of mascots, Bram & Marc Sterne discuss the plight of Ragnar, the beloved Minnesota Vikings mascot with Minneapolis Star-Tribune reporter Michael Rand, and the guys also review the foolishness of a certain priest’s violent NFL fanaticism.
