1942. War rages in Europe. Pearl Harbor still smolders. And alcoholic private eye Nicholas Bishop wakes up on a hotel room floor with two slugs missing from his .38 revolver. The cops think he's murdered lounge singer Pearl DuGaye, mobsters think he saw something he shouldn't have, and Bishop remembers nothing… Together with his indomitable assistant Gia Alessi, who he may or may not have fired, a WWI vet who often flashes back to 1918, and a one-eyed female dog named Jake, Bishop tries to piece together the events that took place during his disastrous five-day bender. Along the way, he stumbles across a dirty politician, a socialite and her unfaithful husband, and a cabal of American Nazis who are undoubtedly up to no good. Written in the spirit of classic noir, Eoannou adds his own unique voice and flair to the genre in this, the first action-packed outing of the Nicholas Bishop Mysteries…Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/houseofmysteryradio. Scott Payne spent 25 years in the FBI, a lot of the time undercover infiltrating Nazi groups and white supremacist organizations, motorcycle gangs, etc. He busted up many plots including one Dylan Roof copycat that wanted to attack a synagogue in Myrtle Beach. He also spent Halloween night 2019 camping in the backwoods of Georgia, huddled with a cell of neo-Nazis as they slaughtered a goat and drank its blood in a ritual pagan sacrifice. In Code Name: Pale Horse (coming March 25), this retired FBI agent, crowned as the "Hillbilly Donnie Brasco," takes readers into some of the most terrifying and risky assignments in the FBI's history. They will join Scott as he goes undercover with the lethal Outlaw Motorcycle Club in Massachusetts; ventures into the mountains of Tennessee where he was on the front lines of the opioid epidemic; and travels to Alabama, where he infiltrates the Klu Klux Klan by singing and playing guitar for them as a thirty-foot cross burns, and wonders how this is his life. All the while, he managed to stay married to the love of his life, raise two girls, and spend Sundays at church, drawing on his family and his faith to get him through harrowing and exhausting assignments. This is an inspiring, emotionally honest memoir from an American hero and an unflinching deep dive into the most dangerous and pressing threats, beginning and ending with one of the most overlooked ones: the recent rise of a neo-Nazi accelerationist movement that's working to spark a race war, and Scott's mission to take it down before the unthinkable happens.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.
INTRODUCTION: On the morning of November 3, 1979, in a quiet neighborhood of Greensboro, North Carolina, a crowd gathered for a march—activists, mill workers, and local citizens standing together against the Ku Klux Klan. The press was there, cameras rolling, ready to document a demonstration for justice. But what unfolded in just 88 seconds was something no one could have imagined. Shots rang out. Five people lay dead. The killers—members of the Klan and American Nazis—walked away without consequence. And just like that, an act of political terror carried out in broad daylight became a footnote in American history. No justice. No reckoning. No headlines in history books. As part of our Black Heritage Month, author and historian Aran Shetterly is here today to change that. His new book, available on Apple Books, Morningside: The 1979 Greensboro Massacre and the Struggle for an American City's Soul, is a gripping, meticulously researched account of the Greensboro Massacre—one of the most brazen acts of racial and political violence in modern America, and one that eerily mirrors the polarization, extremism, and law enforcement failures we continue to see today. Why was this atrocity buried in the past? What does it reveal about justice—then and now? And what lessons can we learn as we approach the 45th anniversary of this chilling event? Aran Shetterly spent years uncovering the truths that many wanted to stay hidden. He spoke with activists, police officers, informants, and eyewitnesses—some who still refuse to acknowledge what happened that day. Today, he joins us to share what he found and why Morningside is more than just history—it's a warning. This is The Not Old Better Show, and I'm Paul Vogelzang. Stay with us. My thanks to historian Aran Shetterly and his new book, Morningside: The 1979 Greensboro Massacre and the Struggle for an American City's Soul. My thanks to Sam & Miranda Heninger for keeping us going. My thanks to you, our wonderful audience here on radio and podcast. We'll examine the patriotic superhero that Marvel Comics completely RIPPED OFF to bring Cap to life, and the litany of superheroes that followed in Cap's wake! On this episode of the NTEB Prophecy News Podcast, the Harris campaign is booking at least $370 million worth of television and online ads in key battlegrounds to run between Labor Day and the November election. In Chicago, the mobile abortion van is already in place, set to begin performing live abortions outside of the DNC. That is eugenics propaganda taken directly from the Nazi campaign playbook. Ask yourself this. If the Democrats, eager to play to their base, are performing abortions in the parking lot outside of their nominating convention, what will they do should they take power? Before you answer that, listen to this. In 1933, Nazi Germany rolled out something called Kraft Durch Freude, or in English, Strength Through Joy. The idea being that your source of joy was to be given to you from your Fascist Nazi government. It was a real propaganda program to deceive the masses. Every major news outlet in reporting on Comrade Kamala, is intentionally and repeatedly using the word ‘joy' to describe her and her campaign. The American Nazis want power, will they get it? All this and end times news from around the globe today on this Prophecy News Podcast!
Has fascism arrived in America? In Fascism in America: Past and Present (Cambridge UP, 2023), Gavriel D. Rosenfeld and Janet Ward have gathered experts to survey the history of fascism in the United States. Although the US established a staunch anti-fascist reputation by defeating the Axis powers in World War II, the unsettling truth is that fascist ideas have long been present within American society. Since the election of Donald Trump as President in 2016, scholars have debated whether Trumpism should be seen as an outgrowth of American conservatism or of a darker – and potentially fascist – tradition. Fascism in America contributes to this debate by examining the activities of interwar right-wing groups like the Silver Shirts, the KKK, and the America First movement, as well as the post-war rise of Black antifascism and white vigilantism, the representation of American Nazis in popular culture, and policy options for combating right-wing extremism. Gavriel David Rosenfeld is President of the Center for Jewish History in New York City and Professor of History at Fairfield University. His areas of academic specialization include the history of Nazi Germany, memory studies, and counterfactual history. Morteza Hajizadeh is a Ph.D. graduate in English from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. The uproar over free expression and antisemitism on college campuses evokes a controversy from the late 1970s that left a lasting mark on First Amendment case law and provided an enduring lesson on the importance of free speech in a democratic society. In 1977, American Nazis led by Frank Collin sought permission to hold a rally in the Chicago suburb of Skokie, Illinois, the home of thousands of Holocaust survivors. Outraged by the group's racist rhetoric and pamphleteering, the town won a preliminary injunction in court barring the Nazis from assembling. Realizing correctly that the First Amendment protects unpopular and hateful speech, the ACLU came to the Nazis' defense in a case that made national news and defined a generation of civil libertarians. In this episode, Nico Perrino of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) reflects on why Skokie matters at a time of increasing hostility to free expression across the American political spectrum. Perrino co-directed the documentary Mighty Ira, about Ira Glasser who led the ACLU for 23 years after the intense backlash against its legal defense of the Nazis' right to express themselves.
As Americans are being warned today about the rise of American Nazis and the attack on our Democracy, it's worth noting that this has happened before. Nazis marched down American main streets in the 1930s while flying swastikas and Old Glory and chanted "America First." PBS American Experience looks at the roots of American anti-Semitism and authoritarianism that we continue to wrestle with today.
Jeffrey Gurock is the author of a great new comprehensive biography of the premier voice of New York sports from the 1940s through the 1990s. The book is Marty Glickman, The Life of an American Jewish Sports Legend. I loved the book and our podcast discussion. It's a sweet, sweet, bittersweet biography. Romania, the Bronx and Brooklyn, the example set by Hank Greenberg and by Sandy Koufax, track and football in high school and college, quotas limiting the number of Jews in certain colleges, the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, the Jews who were precipitously excluded from the competition, American Nazis (truly, American Nazis), the great Jessie Owens, and a phenomenal sportscasting career for a gracious and generous gentleman. Really terrific.
Dorothy Thompson was the leading journalist of the 1930s and 1940s, considered as influential as Eleanor Roosevelt. After becoming the first foreign correspondent to be expelled from Germany by Hitler, Thompson advised President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, testified to Congress, and destroyed the public career of American aviator and Nazi medal-recipient Charles Lindbergh with the power of her pen. She crashed the 1939 Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden and heckled over 20,000 American Nazis until the police had to drag her out, and she warned the world relentlessly about fascism and its useful idiots in the U.S., like America First. Her warnings inspired her husband Sinclair Lewis, the first American to win the Nobel Prize for literature, to write It Can't Happen Here, the now classic novel about the rise of an American dictator. That novel and Thompson's 1941 essay for Harper's “Who Goes Nazi?”, her macabre game on how to tell who among you at a dinner party would become a Nazi, went viral when Trump came to power in 2016. In this special episode, Andrea interviews Peter Kurth, author of American Cassandra: The Life of Dorothy Thompson, which helped inspire Andrea's latest screenplay based on Thompson and her urgent lessons for us today. To celebrate hitting 2k followers on Twitter, I decided to unlock the first part of our investigation into Pelley, Gen. Smedley Butler, & the Wall St. Putsch conspirators—enjoy. Two ways to support PPM: follow @parapower_mapping on Insta & subscribe to the Patreon before Pt. III drops in a couple days: patreon.com/ParaPowerMapping We're talking Bill Pelley—literal Nazi agent, Christian Theosophical crank, spiritualist, newspaperman, espionage agent, screenwriter, reborn clairvoyant, founder of a UFO cult, Soulcrafter, publisher of shitty antisemitic magazines, & founder of an American Nazi paramilitary known as the Silver Legion. But first, we parse the failed Wall St. Putsch (aka Bizness Plot), setting the stage for our investigation of Pelley, as various industrialist backers of the scheme, conspirators, & the legislative body that uncovered it (maybe involuntarily) figure into W.D.P's story. We're talking McCormack-Dickstein Committee, predecessor to HUAC; Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler, Alfred P. Sloan, I. DuPont, JP Morgan Jr., Prescott Bush, Felix & Max Warburg, Grayson Murphy, Gerald Macguire, & a # of references to Henry Ford in this one. We discuss: Marine Corps Gen. Butler & the Bonus Army; possibility the American Legion was funded w/ coups in mind; FDR cucked by Wall St.; the Putsch's origins in Executive Order 6102; Biz Plot taking inspiration from German putsches; John L. Spivak's exposé in "New Masses"—gotta give it to Spivak for his farsighted analysis of the capitalist underpinnings of rising fascism in Germany & US; coup organizer Gerry MacGuire's sus death at 36 yrs old a mere year or 2 after the plan unraveled; the Co. that had Murphy as board member; Robert Sterling Clark serving under Butler = potential complicity; Butler's undercover escapade in Standard Oil-backed int'l espionage; Butler, Clark, & Murphy's shared military campaigns (China, Boxer Rebellion, & Philippine-American War specifically); speculation about whether—contrary to the conscientious antiwar activist portrayals—Smedley was infiltrating antiwar & left mvmts in US; Butler's military career lasting exactly 33 years (

Thomas speaks with Theodore, a former member of the Atomwaffen Division, an infamous neo-Nazi paramilitary organization. Theodore describes how AWD's ideology underwent a dramatic shift, with the group's National Socialist extremism being supplanted by an even more sinister and perverse anti-human Satanism, associated with the Tempel ov Blood, a nexion of the Order of Nine Angles. We go into the details of how this shift took place, including the troubling role of FBI informant Joshua Sutter. Theodore talks about his journey into and out of this dark world and how he now understands all of it through his Orthodox Christian faith. We discuss different crimes associated with Atomwaffen, how the mainstream and fringes of society contain the same nihilistic and self-worshiping traps, the involvement of intelligence agencies with trafficking, the AWD's perspective on various American Nazi figures, and what people get right and wrong about radicalization narratives.https://twitter.com/CinemaPsyophttps://www.patreon.com/PsyopCinemahttps://linktr.ee/psyopcinemathomas-psyopcinema@protonmail.combrett-psyopcinema@protonmail.com

The Order criminal organization is responsible for Murder, Armed Robbery and a shootout with Police. Bruce Pierce liked me because I spoke better German and he was trying to learn from a book without the ability to hear it spoken. He thought German's were more family oriented than American's. He loved to write to Nazi groups while in prison. He encouraged racist belief. He once told me that the road to hell was paved with good intentions. He meant well when his gang machine gunned that guy in the driveway. Pass all the laws you want, criminals will have all the machine guns they want. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/military-dragnet/message

This is the fifth movie of Landis' that we've discussed on the show, yet we've never really brought up the horrific accident on the set of Twilight Zone: The Movie during Landis' segment that killed two children and actor Vic Morrow. We figure it's time to have that discussion and see if we can sort out the complexities of artists and art. There isn't an easy answer in general, but it does seem clear that Landis – particularly from the accident and beyond – should be judged more harshly than, say, a director whose criminal activities didn't take place on set. But The Blues Brothers is more than just John Landis... All that aside, a lot of other people were involved in The Blues Brothers, and we're here to celebrate them, notably Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi. Clearly, they share a love for this rhythm and blues music and feel it's important to celebrate the history of the music by including many great performers in the film like Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Cab Calloway, and John Lee Hooker. Plus, John and Dan as Jake and Elwood Blues seriously know how to perform. But the movie is also an element of its time. Not only do we have the American Nazi party represented (even if it is to mock them), we also have the characters treating the female characters with little respect. It was a misogynistic time, and we certainly feel it here. Looking specifically at why it's in this series (and perhaps not our Couples on the Run series), the car chases are extravagant. Landis spent more than twice the initial budget presented by the studio and a lot of that went into creating some of the biggest car chases with the most cars destroyed than any other movie – even action movies. In fact, its record for the most cars destroyed in a film wasn't broken until this film's not-so-great 1998 sequel. This is one of the eleven films born from Saturday Night Live sketches, and it's generally considered one of the best ones. It's certainly one of the most successful of the bunch. We spend a bit of time digging into the history, success, and longevity of these spinoffs. Is this a film that works for younger generations or is this truly a product of its time that doesn't work that well for people who aren't dads? Well, we both love it but then again, we're both dads. So maybe that's saying something. Then again, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing rose-colored glasses. Hit it. This week! We begin our deep dive into the fetid waters of the fringe center of the republican party with the first episode proper of our “Lunatic Fringe” series. The thesis of this series which will take the coming months if not the majority of the year, is that there is little if any true daylight between the “far right” as we would term them. Part of getting to this point was a concerted strategy by leaders of the right to use hate as a weapon. In their callous disregard they selfishly and wantonly employed the politics of hate, not caring necessarily what the particular target of their followers was, it was enough for them that they hated in the correct direction, but using the appeal to hatred to inspire a mass of voters in a way that policy platforms and inspirational speech never could. It also brought into their fold a new coalition of hate, of types that a more respectable right wing in the pas might have pretended to abhor, but who now was so crucial they now have to be directly appealed to. So to start we begin with a brief history of American hate, starting with the Ku Klux Klan in its several incarnations, the American Nazi movement, White supremacist media mogul Willis Carto, Pioneer Publisher of holocaust denial, William Regnery II and America's most prominent White Supremacist Tucker Carlson. By no means are these people inclusive of every hatemonger from the time period, nor do their stories cover the entirety of the spectrum that is American hate. For every open racist screaming at a young girl going to school accompanied by U.S. Marshalls, there are a dozen or more at home silently approving of the intent, if not the method. We are excited for this new project we are undertaking here on the show, and its part of our personal commitment to always improving and trying to make a better show that provides more for all of our listeners. It's time to catch up with our favorite villainous magicians. Between 1934 and 1939 Guy and Edna Ballard brainwashed and robbed blind upwards to a million Americans through the "'I AM' Religious Activity" using hypnosis, parlor tricks, force of will, and a bunch of members of William Dudley Pelley's Silver Legion - the most successful American Nazi organization - with the stated goal of overthrowing the government and installing Guy Ballard as ruler of America in Saint Germain's "Seventh Golden Age". The teachings of the I AM Activity are some of the primary influences on both New Age spirituality (twin flames, ascension, ascended masters, the violet flame, Mount Shasta, etc.) and Q Anon. Guy died at the tail end of 1938, but the story doesn't end there. Edna Ballard, son Donald and the parent corporation of the "I AM" Activity, The Saint Germain Foundation, would go on to operate from the shadows for decades, co-opting and subverting American spirituality up to and through the present day. The Saint Germain Foundation owns hundreds of perfectly manicured properties in extremely desirable locations, does no active recruiting, and is just generally incredibly creepy. This week we go over the nearly 1000 pages of declassified FBI documents relating to the SGF, testimony of former members, the strange death of Donald Ballard, and whatever is going on currently at Mount Shasta.

Have you ever stopped to really think about what the root cause of racism is? Politicians at every level, and those in the media, now more than ever before, speak in platitudes about race, finding new ways to interject race and racism into every story and topic, but do you ever hear them present real solutions that speak to the root cause of racism? The answer, in most cases, is probably NO. When I was a child, a young man, and even to this day, I find great passion in befriending and just listening to the stories of, and finding wisdom in, those older and more seasoned in the ways of the world than me. Whether it was listening to my parents and their friends talking about growing up in our little mid-western towns, the widow on my paper route who had long since lost her husband and had few visitors, or the old man at the end of the bar that ran out of people to talk to, I loved it all and still do. Doing the Derate the Hate podcast affords me opportunities to meet and speak with people that I may never otherwise encounter. For this I could not be more grateful. When I get the opportunity to speak with a true legend like Daryl Davis, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. If you do not know who Daryl Davis is, you need to stop what you're doing and listen to every word he says in this incredible conversation. Daryl Davis is what many would call a superhero in the ranks of race relations. Do you want to know what a man who's devoted a large portion of his adult life to converting white supremacists says the root cause of racism is? Don't miss this conversation… That's right, Daryl Davis, a black man that has gone right to the source of Hate, having sat face to face with members of the American Nazi party, the KKK and many other organizations of HATE, joins me in this week's episode of the Derate the Hate podcast. How did Daryl Davis play an instrumental role in rehabilitating upwards of 200 KKK members, leading them to a life of peace and civility rather than Hate? Don't miss this conversation…What have you done today to make your life a better life? What have you done today to make the world a better place? The world is a better place if we are better people, and that begins with each of us leading a better life. Be kind to one another, be grateful for everything you've got, and make each and every day the day that you want it to be!Please follow The Derate The Hate podcast on Facebook, MeWe, Instagram, Twitter . The rise of Nazism before World War II wasn't limited to Germany. The German-Americna Bund (Amerikadeutscher Volksbund) formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1936, to promote a favorable view of Nazi Germany. It quickly grew to 70 local groups around the country, with 20 training camps where kids aged 8-18 practiced military drills and wore Nazi-style uniforms. By 1939, 20,000 people attended the Bund's Pro American Rally in Madison Square Garden. When Prohibition ended in 1933, Jewish American gangsters who had been running liquor businesses suddenly had more time on their hands, and they decided to fight back against the Bund. In Newark, New Jersey, Abner “Longie” Zwillman formed a secret organization called the Minutemen to fight the Nazis. The Minutemen, who operated from 1933 to 1941, would break up Bund meetings using their fists, baseball bats, and stink bombs. The Minutemen were based in New Jersey, but Jewish gangsters around the country fought the Bund, including in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles. To help us learn more, I'm joined on this episode by Leslie K. Barry, author of the historic novel, Newark Minutemen: A True 1930s Legend about One Man's Mission to Save a Nation's Soul Without Losing His Own, whose uncle was a Minuteman in Newark in the 1930s. Rey concludes his tour of duty with the American Nazi Party by telling the story of its final Fuhrer, Matthias Koehl, and his take on Esoteric Hitlerism in New Order. The crew briefly examines the life and thought of Koehl's greatest influences, Savitri Devi, who said that Hitler was an avatar of Vishnu, and Miguel Serrano, who mixed and matched esoteric 'traditions' until landing on a Hitler-Jesus named "Manu". Rey walks Fritz and Boris through Matt Koehl's rise to ANP glory from James Madole's National Renaissance Party in New York to the States Rights Party in the South until he finally becomes George Lincoln Rockwell's successor (and Brutus to his Caesar) when Koehl takes the American Nazis in a bizarre spiritual direction. Rey wraps up the darkly funny life of George Lincoln Rockwell and examines his lasting influence on neo-Naziism in the U.S. and abroad. The boys learn about Rockwell's surprisingly international World Union of National Socialists (WUNS) and the political intrigue they wrought on themselves, the controversy surrounding the creation of the well-known slogan, "White Power", and the American Nazi Party's relationship to Christian Identity. Finally, Rey looks at the various explanations for Rockwell's violent death at the hand of a Stormtrooper and the possible Machiavellian machinations of William Luther Pierce and Matt Koehl. Rey finally introduces the infamous and pathetic George Lincoln Rockwell and his American Nazi Party to the TENE pod roster of tragicomic fascist freaks. Son of a sociopathic Vaudevillian and clearly nostalgic for some 1930s-style LARPing, "Commander" Rockwell founds one of the most important and comically underappreciated neo-Nazi groups of the '60s that gave us such figures at Matt Koehl, Daniel Burros, and William Luther Pierce. Also, was 7-Up a GLADIO op? No, seriously, we're asking... This is a story about interwar America and a mass Nazi movement called the Silver Shirts centered around a man who claimed to speak to long-dead celebrities, including the surprisingly anti-Semitic ghosts of Ben Franklin and Jesus Christ. Follow William Dudley Pelley, toilet paper heir, Hollywood screenwriter, award-winning author, dedicated hustler, and American Nazi militia leader as "mentors" from the 4th dimension guide him and his thousands of followers into a genocidal political platform and a 'prophesied' presidential run. TENE examines Pelley's career hucksterism from the 1920s to his 'unexpected' death in '65. Join them as they marvel at his infantile attempts to court Native American followers and at the lasting effect his buffoonery had on the American fascist movement. 7: James Mason - Portrait of a Decrepit Nazi Pervert Rey narrates the turbulent and reactionary biography of Neo-Nazi ideologue and 'theoretician of terror' James Mason. From his youth as a would-be school-shooter in the 60s through his experiences in the American Nazi movement to his eventual publication of Siege and its subsequent rediscovery by young fascists today. Boris and Fritz do their best to keep up while trying not to throw up in their mouths from listening to this particularly disgusting and pathetic chapter in fascist history.
