Tim, Nick and Carlos will discuss the MLB lockout and what that means for the Cincinnati Reds. The guys evaluate the Reds keeping all 10 of their top non-tender candidates (Luis Castillo, Jesse Winker, Tyler Mahle, Tyler Naquin, Amir Garrett, Kyle Famer, Luis Cessa, Lucas Sims, Jeff Hoffman and Nick Senzel). They will also take a closer look at the Reds five minor league signings with invites to camp: Andrew Knapp, Trey Wingenter, Allen Córdoba, Trey Amburgey and Brandon Bailey.
Our featured interview tonight is with novice pipe smoker Andrew Knapp. Andrew grew up in such a remote part of Idaho that he had to travel 86 miles just to buy groceries. Perhaps he was making up for that by later traveling to Cairo, Istanbul, Aleppo, Damascus, Amman and all over northern Europe. He currently resides in Washington D.C. and has degrees in Philosophy in Politics, and in Politics. This episode is another installment in our series of novice pipe smokers (those with 3-5 years of pipe smoking experience) that we pose seven questions to. At the top of the show, Brian will catch up on a backlog from the mailbag which occurred during his three weeks of travel. (We will have the regular mailbag segment as well.)
This journey, Ryan and Chip discuss the Eagles first game against the Atlanta Falcons. Jalen Hurts looked promising, and Nick Sirianni called a very balanced game. The defense really stepped up after a sloppy first drive. Who else performed well, and who should we keep an eye on going forward? GO BIRDS! The Phillies are entering the home stretch. Do they have it in them to secure a wild card spot? Inconsistency has been the theme of the year, good players are not playing to their potential, and will they honestly even make it that far into the playoffs if they make it? Chip's hatred for Andrew Knapp continues on this week's end of show tradition. Special guest Larry Bowa joins the show today to breakdown the Phillies past week! Phillies are 4.5 games behind the Braves with just over a month to go - this is a pivotal week for the Phils with the Braves continuing their tough schedule. There's no comparison between J.T. Realmuto and Andrew Knapp offensively but did you know the Phillies pitchers are performing much better with Knapp behind the plate? Shohei Ohtani continues to dominate, and this past week he achieved a milestone that no other player in Angels history has ever accomplished!

The Philadelphia Phillies lose to the Miami Marlins by a score of 3-1. Zach Eflin vs Trevor Rogers was the matchup on the bump. Andrew Knapp was a few inches away from a walk off homer. Bryce Harper struck out 3 times swinging and Alec Bohm was miserably defensively. Check out my sponsors! The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals in 10 innings. Bryce Harper and Odubel Herrera ran into each other and costed the Phils the lead in the 6th inning. Late though, Herrera hit a home run off Brad Hand in the 9th to tie the game. In extras, Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins, Nick Maton, and Andrew Knapp came up big so Hector Neris could close the door. The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals by a score of 6-2. It was a much needed win after falling the last 2 games against the Braves. Chase Anderson gave you a decent outing, but Joe Girardi kept him in too long. The Phils left bases loaded in the 6th inning with zero outs, not scoring one run. Devastating. Alec Bohm and Andrew Knapp came up large in the 8th for insurance. Let's not forget about Odubel Herrera's night where he was on base 4 times. JT Realmuto left the game injured so hopefully it's nothing that deserves an IL stint. Check out my sponsors! Bryce is fired up! He clearly wants to win as we get down into the last three games in tonight's pod. Gabe Kapler comes back to Philly as Skipper...of the San Francisco Giants. And he can stay there with all his coconut oil. Today we have games one and two of this series with the Giants. They are not pretty. No offense in game one. No pitching in game two. So we discuss those along with some great and not so great milestones like Nick Maton's first major league hit and the hitless streak in center field. An avalanche of Home Runs in game two on both sides. And we have game three with another youngin milestone for MICKEY, the return of Jet Packs and Spencer Howard, and Andrew Knapp subtly calls out the fans for doubting them in what we would call a roller coaster of emotions. We have some final notes on this series and end on the road trip starting Friday in Denver with the Rockies and then in St. Louis with the Cardinals again. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!!!

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Francisco Giants 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th thanks to an Andrew Knapp walk off! The Phils were up 4-1 and Brandon Kintzler allowed a three-run bomb to Darin Ruf on an 0-2 count and mistakes continued to happen as the Phils lost the lead. We also talk about the plethora of competition to be had at the start of Spring Training we are excited about: The 4 and 5 spot of the starting rotation, locks and final pieces of the newly reorganized bullpen, and bench and center field pieces. We also touch on who is left in the trade and free agent market as well as the top 5 payrolls in the MLB right now with the Phillies being one of them. The Fightin Phils are still going strong with their Winter Tour and Andrew Knapp is next up on the slate on Thursday night at 8PM. Lastly, Brandon's mom has taken it upon herself to be our unofficial PR manager so we are pretty excited about that as well. Lots of excitement tonight folks! Enjoy. And Play Ball!
The Phillies are fired up after signing Archie Bradley and you know what, we are too! WOOOOOOOOO!!! But is that enough to improve on last season? They also make a hefty offer to JT Realmuto and we are more optimistic for 2021. Although, Andrew Knapp says he can be an everyday catcher. We also discuss some other moves the Phillies have been making which include avoiding arbitration with Rhys Hoskins, Vinny V and Jose Alvarado, picking up international prospects, and a trade with Boston. Things do in fact seem to be shaping up for the Phillies and the bullpen, but we go back and forth on what is still needed all over the field and which players are still available. 25 days until pitchers and catchers report! Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

The Philadelphia Phillies lose 2 of 3 to the Atlanta Braves. Aaron Nola got rocked in game one and it was no contest. Hector Neris and newly added reliever, Brandon Workman, blew game two of the season in the 8th and 9th innings. Zack Wheeler threw a gem and Bryce Harper crushed a 470 ft BOMB! In game three, the Phils had a nice lead thanks to Alec Bohm, Didi Gregorius, and Rhys Hoskins going yard. Zach Eflin was not good enough and the bullpen almost found a way to lose. Heath Hembree was solid in his Phillies' debut, Tommy Hunter had a shutdown eighth inning, and Workman almost blew it again. Freddie Freeman hit a ball into the gap and Roman Quinn cut off the ball, threw it to Gregorius, who gunned out Dansby Swanson at home thanks to a nice tag by Andrew Knapp. You can't get any closer to blowing a save than that. The Philadelphia Phillies lose to the Baltimore Orioles 5-4. Zach Eflin threw six innings, allowed seven hits, four earned-runs, and struck-out a career-high 10 batters. For your fourth/fifth starter, I think he was fine. He needs to clean up his secondary pitches. His curveball and sliders were rocked while his sinker was on display. Andrew Knapp was the reason they scored runs with 3-4 night and two RBIs. Phil Gosselin started for Scott Kingery. Rhys Hoskins is still in the lineup after his awful start to the season. Kevin Frandsen connected with catcher Andrew Knapp on Monday. Andrew is trying to stay in shape and make it through this quarantine. He talks about his early impressions of Joe Girardi and working with Joe Dillon.
We are excited to be joined by Sacramento area native and Philadelphia Phillies Catcher Andrew Knapp on the KPB Podcast for this fun episode. A former standout for the California Golden Bears, Knapp quickly rose through the minor league ranks, making his Big League debut on April 6, 2017. Knapp comes from a baseball family as his father Mike played 10 years of professional baseball and his younger brother, Aaron, is currently playing in the minors. This will be Knapp’s fourth season with the Phillies, and he comes back to Philadelphia after a strong second half where he hit .271 with a .346 OBP. More importantly, he is one of the truly good guys in baseball. Knapp has been a huge supporter of KPB and uses his platform to give back and do good for his communities. In addition to talking about his path to the Big Leagues, we talk about his time in college, his routines and preparation, as well as some light-hearted questions like, what would you change if you were commissioner? And, what three teammates would you bring with you if you were stuck on a deserted island? You won't want to miss this great conversation, which comes with yelling children in the background (podcasting is hard when quarantining with kids!) and plenty of gems to get you better! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/keep-playing-baseball/support
