Chapter 19 - The Servant of Lord Voldemort“YOU'RE PATHETIC!” Harry yelled. “JUST BECAUSE THEY MADE A FOOL OF YOU AT SCHOOL YOU WON'T EVEN LISTEN _” “SILENCE! I WILL NOT BE SPOKEN TO LIKE THAT!' Snape shrieked, looking madder than ever. "Like father, like son, Potter! I have just saved your neck, you should be thanking me on bended knee! You would have been well served if he'd killed you! You'd have died like your father, too arrogant to believe you might be mistaken in Black. Now get out of the way or I will make you.”Q1 - What do you think of both Harry and Snape's statements?Q2 - Were they right to attack a teacher?"Harry I as good as killed them; he croaked. I persuaded Lily and James to change to Peter at the last moment, persuaded them to use him as Secret Keeper instead of me ... I'm to blame, I know it ... the night they died, I'd arranged to check on Peter, make sure he was still safe, but when I arrived at his hiding place, he'd gone. Yet there was no sign of a struggle. It didn't feel right. I was scared. I set out for your parents' house straight away. And when I saw their house, destroyed, and their bodies - I realized what Peter must have done. What I'd done. His voice broke. He turned away.”Q3 - What do you think of this whole story so far?Q4 - Do you get the secret keeper thing still?Harry remembered what Mr Weasley had told Mrs Weasley. “The guards say he's been talking in his sleep …. always the same words... "He's at Hogwarts.” “It was as if someone had lit a fire in my head, and the Dementors couldn't destroy it…it wasn't a happy feeling…it was an obsession…but it gave me strength, it cleared my mind. So, one night when they opened my door to bring food, I slipped past them as a dog…it's so much harder for them to sense animal emotions that they were confused…I was thin, very thin…thin enough to slip through the bars…I swam as a dog back to the mainland I journeyed north and slipped into the Hogwarts grounds as a dog…I've been living in the Forest ever since…except when I come to watch the Quidditch, of course…you fly as well as your father did, Harry…He looked at Harry who did not look away. Believe me croaked black believe me. I never betrayed James and lily. I would have died before I betrayed them. And at long last, Harry believed him. Throat too tight to speak, he nodded. Q5 - Is Ron nuts for letting Scabbers sleep in his bed?Q6 - Why would Harry change his murderous tone after learning of all this, is he right to show mercy to Pettigrew?Q7 - What are your thoughts on Pettigrew, Lupin, James, and Sirius now?Chapter 20 - The Dementor's Kiss“But I'm also — I don't know if anyone's ever told you — I'm your godfather.” “Yeah, I knew that,” said Harry. “Well…your parents appointed me your guardian,” said Sirius stiffly. “If anything happened to them…” Harry waited. Did Sirius mean what he thought he meant? “I'll understand, of course, if you want to stay with your aunt and uncle,” said Sirius. “But…well…think about it. Once my name's cleared…if you wanted a…a different home…”Q1 - Is it at all crazy that Harry now is okay with living with Sirius?Q2 - Do you think it's feasible that someone like Lupin forgot to take his potion?Q3 - What did you think Harry's patronus was on finishing this chapter?Q4 - Who did you think cast the patronus on your first read?Chapter 21 - Hermione's Secret“You surely don't believe a word of Black's story?” Snape whispered, his eyes fixed on Dumbledore's face. “I wish to speak to Harry and Hermione alone,” Dumbledore repeated.Q1 - What do you think about the dynamic between Snape and Dumbledore in this book?“But you believe us.” “Yes I do,” said Dumbledore quietly. “But I have no power to make other men see the truth.”Q2 - What do you think of the time turner?Q3 - Have you ever felt like you ran into a past or future version of yourself?Q4 - What would you do if you had one day with the time turner?REDDIT - alphaWLFgang1 - For me it's like someone asking that question if I'd rather have all the time in the world, or all the money in the world. My answer to that question is all the time in the world. With all the time in the world, if I wanted to be rich and have all the money in the world, I could do that. So for me, having a time-turner, I feel like I would be able to either own multiple companies or have multiple jobs while still spending time with family. Obviously it'd be tricky living that way and making sure I don't go crazy, but that's what I'd try to do at the most. Just being able to be more than one place at a time and be even more productive would open countless opportunities.“Macnair, if Buckbeak has indeed been stolen, do you really think the thief will have led him away on foot?” said Dumbledore, still sounding amused. “Search the skies, if you will…Hagrid, I could do with a cup of tea. Or a large brandy.”Q5 - Do you think Dumbledore was just playing here, or did he assume Harry would fly Buckbeak away?“Yeah, I saw him,” said Harry slowly. “But…maybe I imagined it…I wasn't thinking straight…I passed out right afterwards…” “Who did you think it was?” “I think—” Harry swallowed, knowing how strange this was going to sound. “I think it was my dad.”Q6 - Hermione's response is that Harry's dad is dead, is she the single worst comfort giver on the face of the planet?Q7 - Did you think this might have been James at this point?“We'll see each other again,” he said. “You truly are — truly your father's son, Harry…”Q8 - Should their goodbye have been a little longer?Chapter 22 - Owl Post AgainDumbledore looked up, and a wide smile appeared under the long silver mustache. “Well?” he said quietly. “We did it!” said Harry breathlessly. “Sirius has gone, on Buckbeak…” “Well done.”“Well, there you have it, Severus,” said Dumbledore calmly. “Unless you are suggesting that Harry and Hermione are able to be in two places at once, I'm afraid I don't see any point in troubling them further.”Q1 - Do you think Snape is good?“Perhaps we should think about dragons at the school entrance…”Q2 - Do you think Fudge is serious?“Yes, your father was always a stag when he transformed,” he said. “You guessed right…that's why we called him prongs.”“Didn't make any difference?” said Dumbledore quietly. “It made all the difference in the world, Harry. You helped uncover the truth. You saved an innocent man from a terrible fate.”Q3 - Do you think Dumbledore or Harry is more right here? Did Harry actually do anything of worth?“Do you know, Harry, I think she might have been,” he said thoughtfully. “Who'd have thought it? That brings her total of real predictions up to two. I should offer her a pay rise…”Q4 - After Dumbledore even thinks she's only had two real predictions, do you think Trelawney is a fraud or actually good?“Pettigrew owes his life to you. You have sent Voldemort a deputy who is in your debt. When one wizard saves another wizard's life, it creates a certain bond between them…and I'm much mistaken if Voldemort wants his servant in the dept of Harry Potter.” “I don't want a bond with Pettigrew!” said Harry. “He betrayed my parents!” “This is magic at its deepest, its most impenetrable, Harry. But trust me…the time may come when you will be very glad you saved Pettigrews life.”Q5 - What do you think Dumbledore is talking about here?“You think the dead we have loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don't remember them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you, Harry, and shows himself most plainly when you have need of him. How else could you produce that particular Patronus? Prongs rode again last night…So you did see your father last night, Harry…You found him inside yourself.”Q6 - Do you think Dumbledore is right here? “I'll fix it up with Mum and Dad, then I'll call you. I know how to use the fellytone now—” “A telephone, Ron,” said Hermione. “Honestly, you should take Muggle studies next year…”Q7 - Should witches and wizards be required to take muggle studies?Q8 - The quidditch world cup is happening next summer, what countries would you guess are quidditch powerhouses?Q9 - How'd you like this book?

We're diving back into the binge of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with chapter 6, Talons and Tealeaves. For this discussion I'm joined by Dan from Hogwarts: A Podcast (https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/hogwarts-a-podcast). This is the chapter where Trelawney predicts Harry's death in Divination class because she sees a big black dog aka the Grim in a teacup. Then Hagrid makes Harry ride a Hippogriff named Buckbeak after he successfully pets him in Care of Magical Creatures. Unfortunately, Draco Malfoy isn't a fan of Harry getting attention or in paying attention to Hagrid's warnings. So, he insults Buckbeak and gets clawed up as a result of his actions. Throughout the discussion we'll rate Draco's ability as a school bully. Dan will defend Trelawney's abilities as a teacher and seer. We'll talk about Hagrid's qualification for teaching, Dumbledore's loose ship, how there must be good Slytherins we don't see and a lot of other fun stuff! Wouldn't that cause a lot of stress or issues if something goes wrong +1 Snape Sucks for Snape glowering at Harry while he is trying to complete is examination  The best exam has to be Lupin's practical exam - which really puts what the kids have learned throughout the year into practice  This exam really starts to show Harry's brilliance in DADA as he is apply to put what he learned into real world application, compared to Hermione who struggles under pressure  Ron ready to fight the Minister of Magic over the appeal is great  The Divination exam is done privately which we both agree is preferred for examinations  Shay feels like Harry should of predicted his own death for top marks  Harry makes up seeing Buckbeak and goes against Trelawney wanting blood, death and drama  Harry predicts Buckbeak flying away... Harry a Seer Confirmed?  Trelawney goes into a trance and predicts makes a prediction about Voldemort - do all Seers not remember the prophecies made?  Does Sirius breaking out to go after Peter cause the prediction to come true?  Should Harry have told Dumbledore about the prediction?  Hagrid loss the appeal and Buckbeak is set to be executed, poor Hagrid  Scabbers is found alive and hiding in a milk jug - why did he pick there of all places to hid?  Despite everything going on Hagrid tries to be the responsible adult and tells the kids to leave before the execution takes place The Trio try and leave quickly but Scabbers is causing issues - can Peter sense that Sirius is nearby?  The chapter ends with Buckbeak appearing to have been executed and the trios disbelief - really capturing the loss of innocence  Snape Sucks total for Chapter 16: 1 Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Fill our our Listener Survey here: https://forms.gle/QFEJNAEtQdzXLSBC7 Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us:  Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited

Potter Revisited Episode #52 Uncharacteristically A Badass AKA Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Chapter 15 "The Quidditch Final" Is Ron's willingness to help Hermione with the appeal after everything they've been through what makes her break?  Shay finds the corruption involved in Buckbeak's case disgusting  Draco knows he was in the wrong but not even ashamed about an animal dying and Hagrid being upset  Hermione takes out all her frustration and slaps Draco in the face!  Is learning how corrupt the justice system / Ministry of Magic is hard for Hermione to handle?  We are in agreement that Hermione is unhinged sometimes  Shay finds the dark side of Cheering Charms as they could be used to manipulate a person Hermione's starting to crack - forgetting to go to Charms  The Divination lesson is different this time around since Hermione doesn't seem to care and joins in with Harry and Ron's jokes  Trelawney tells Hermione to her face she is basically useless at this subject - we discuss how we would react if a teacher told us that  Hermione makes a huge scene and storms out of the classroom - which Trelawney claims to have predicted in the first class  The Quidditch final is approaching and the school has gone crazy  Shay compares how the Quidditch playoffs are scored compared to the NHL Staney Cup and how weird it is  Tori discuss the competitive energy around the school and if it is healthy, as well as causing more house divides     Does Dumbledore love the drama of it all? The gameplay in this chapter is great, as well as Lee's commentary  Snape actually wore a colour to the match - he is just as invested as McGonagall  There are a lot of dirty moves and fouls in this match  Gryffindor wins the cup and Oliver Wood has achieved his life goal  We compare Hermione slapping Malfoy in the book to Hermione punching Malfoy in the film and what works better Snape Sucks total for Chapter 15: 0 Email any thoughts, questions or feedback to potterrevisitedpodcast@gmail.com Fill our our Listener Survey here: https://forms.gle/QFEJNAEtQdzXLSBC7 Music: Shelter Song by Alexander Nakarada (www.serpentsoundstudios.com) Licensed under Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow Us:  Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/potterrevisited Twitter https://twitter.com/potterevisited Instagram https://www.instagram.com/potterrevisited_/ Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4v2Xt0OIQ8_LCVYhKf2S5A TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@potterrevisited

Main Discussion: Prisoner of Azkaban, Chapter 16: Professor Trelawney's Prediction 7-Word Summary: Exams consume clairvoyance and shocking revelations, executions Hermione's exam schedule is the biggest example yet of her secretive methods, why do Ron and Harry not say something? Buckbeak's appeal looms, but the executioner is coming. Should Ron have spoken his mind to Fudge? Some hosts believe that Hagrid gives Dumbledore WAY too much credit. Should Dumbledore have put a stop to the whole Buckbeak incident? What did Parvati Patil do to impress Trelawney so much? Why does Ron fail but Harry skate by on his? Andrew catches something amazing about the circumstances surrounding both Trelawney predictions. Harry feels "unreal." Would this have something to do with there being *two* of him, we wonder? Potter Revisited Episode #43 Doom and Gloom AKA Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Chapter 6 "Talons and Tea Leaves" We are starting off the school term in this chapter and it is an eventful first day back We love the idea of Malfoy running into Fred and George's compartment on the train, scared of the Dementor  Ron notices Hermione has 3 classes all at the same time, but she is able to brush him off in her Hermione way  We theorize how Hermione uses the timeturner to get to classes - she seems to have 3 classes at the same time in the morning  Would using the Timeturner so much age Hermione? Would it shorten her lifespan?  Sir Cadogan is a delight Harry hates Divination but Tori and Shay disagree  We are introduced to Trelawney and she is a very dramatic character - she is only "predicting" bad news Shay breaks down the predictions Trelawney makes in this first class and if they could be real  Ron's teacup predicts suffering but also happiness - we discuss Ron's future throughout the series  Hermione talks down to a professor and is very dismissive and openly disdainful for the first time - Is this her disbelief in Divination as a subject or because she's on her 3rd time going back in time for class and is tired and hungry?  Why is Harry so worried about his cup having a death omen? He has had Voldemort trying to kill him every year and now Sirius Black  McGonagall is the MVP and defuses the tension like the pro she is  McGonagall says Trelawney "predicts" a student will die every year - we discuss who we think could have been the student before Harry  Hermione obviously isn't happy with Divination after the first lesson - why didn't she drop it then?  Hagrid is teaching his first ever class and although Hagrid is very knowledgeable and excited by the subject... he isn't that great at supervising students or teaching  Allowing Harry to fly Buckbeak was probably a bit much for a lesson...  Hagrid is supposed to be a teacher in charge but is relying a lot on Harry, Ron and Hermione throughout the lesson and making sure everyone is enjoying themselves rather than providing any real lesson It's interesting that Hermione is able to separate her feelings for her friend, Hagrid, and know he isn't a great teacher where as Harry and Ron see Hagrid as all or nothing and it's a betrayal to his character to think otherwise Again, as the trio visit Hagrid later on he is a bit drunk and confiding in them as a friend rather than any kind of adult or authority figure (until he is able to sober up at Hermione's interference)  Looking forward to some great Lupin and Snape content next chapter! In the conclusion to my "death penalty in fantasy literature" trilogy, I analyze how capital punishment is dealt with in the Harry Potter series, as well as the wizarding world more broadly. After briefly discussing how both capital punishment and segregation laws are used as examples of wizarding America's backwardness in the Fantastic Beasts films, I turn to the book series. Find out why I think the Dementor's Kiss is probably meant to parallel capital punishment and why I think Sirius and Buckbeak are both used to illustrate the perils of State executions. Learn why I think the Harry Potter series leans anti-death penalty but is less firm in its stance than Lord of the Rings. Learn why the Dursleys are probably right-wing. And find out my take on how the climax of the series tries to split the difference of killing off Voldemort without endorsing capital punishment.

Chapter 21 - Hermione's Secret“You surely don't believe a word of Black's story?” Snape whispered, his eyes fixed on Dumbledore's face. “Honestly, you should take Muggle studies next year…”Q7 - Should witches and wizards be required to take muggle studies?Q8 - The quidditch world cup is happening next summer, what countries would you guess are quidditch powerhouses?

Very little receptivity to the resonances of the future.”PREDICTION #11 - Neville will be late to the next class. He hardly heard what Professor McGonagall was telling them about Animagi (wizards who could transform at will into animals), and wasn't even watching when she transformed herself in front of their eyes into a tabby cat with spectacle markings around her eyes…”Really what's gotten into you all today? … Not that it matters, but that's the first time my transformation's not gotten applause from a class.”“There is no need to tell me any more, Miss Granger. Tell me, which of you will be dying this year?”“I shall not conceal from you that I have very little patience with it [Divination]. True Seers are very rare, and Professor Trelawney…”Q6 - Thoughts on McGonagall's thoughts on Trelawney?Q7 - What do you think about Animagi?Q8 - If you were part of the Magical World, would you be more like Ron or Hermione with superstitions and grims?Q9 - Should Hagrid have left a note with the students for how they should open their books?Q10 - Would you want to ride a broomstick or a Hippogriff?“No one?” said Hagrid with a pleading look. “I'll do it,” said Harry.Q11 - Is Hagrid a good teacher?Q12 - Is Sirius Black that serious that Hagrid is upset at the trio for visiting him in the dark?Chapter 7 - The Boggart in the WardrobeQ1 - Have you ever milked an injury?Q2 - Would you be good at potions?“Have you heard? Daily Prophet this morning — they reckon Sirius Black's been sighted…Not too far from here.”Q3 - Do you think the Ministry of Magic should have someone in the 911 Dispatch office? Or do you think they can bug certain words…like Sirius Black?“Of course, if it was me,” he said quietly, “I'd have done something before now. I wouldn't be staying in school like a good boy, I'd be out there looking for him.” “What are you talking about, Malfoy?” said Ron roughly. “Don't you know, Potter?”Q4 - What doesn't Harry know that Malfoy knows about Sirius Black?Q5 - What is wrong with Snape to be testing on Neville's toad?Q6 - How do you think Hermione is taking all these classes?“Good afternoon,” he said, “Would you please put all your books back in your bags. Today will be a practical lesson. You will only need your wands.”…”when their old teacher brought pixies…” LONG LIVE LOCKHART!“I was hoping that Neville would assist me with the first stage of the operation,” he said, “and I am sure he will perform it admirably.”Q7 - What are your first thoughts on Lupin?Q8 - What would the Boggart take shape if you confronted it? (aka, what frightens you?)“It's always best to have company when you're dealing with a Boggart.”“I would like all of you to take a moment now to think of the thing that scares you most, and imagine how you might force it to look comical?”Q9 - How would you change your biggest fear into something humorous?Q10 - What is Lupin afraid of?“What would it have been for you?” said Ron, sniggering. “A piece of homework that only got nine out of ten?”

Chapter 1 - Owl PostHarry Potter was a highly unusual boy in many ways. For one thing, he hated the summer holidays more than any other time of year. For another, he really wanted to do his homework, but was forced to do it in secret, in the dead of night. And he also happened to be a wizard.Q1 - Wendelin the Weird is so named because she liked to be burned, if you had a title to your name, what do you think it would be?Q2 - Why haven't wizards adopted ballpoint pens yet?For years, Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon had hoped that if they kept Harry as downtrodden as possible, they would be able to squash the magic out of him. To their fury, they had been unsuccessful.Harry sat down on his bed, grabbed Errol's package, ripped off the brown paper and discovered a present wrapped in gold, and his first ever birthday card.Q3 - Do you think the grand prize was fixed so that the Weasleys could win after what happened to them last year?Q4 - Would you want a pocket Sneakoscope?Q5 - Did you guys get really into the go-back-to-school countdown and sales and stuff? At that moment, Harry Potter felt just like everyone else: glad, for the first time in his life, that it was his birthday.Chapter 2 - Aunt Marge's Big MistakeQ1 - Have you ever, in your town, heard about a prisoner escaping or some serious crime happening?Q2 - Have you ever called someone Aunt or Uncle who isn't really your relative?Q3 - Do you think Harry's strategy of threatening his Uncle to forget the school name in order to get his permission form signed is the right way to go about it?Aunt Marge loved criticizing him, so the untidier he looked, the happier she would be.Harry was bursting to say that he'd rather live in an orphanage than with the Dursleys, but the thought of the Hogsmeade form stopped him.Q4 - Would you rather live in an orphanage or with the Dursleys?Q5 - Why do you think Vernon made Harry sit there with Marge at the dinner table?“It all comes down to blood, as I was saying the other day. Bad blood will out. Now, I'm saying nothing against your family, Petunia” — she patted Aunt Petunia's bony hand with her shovel-like one, “but your sister was a bad egg. They turn up in the best families. Then she ran off with a wastrel and here's the result right in front of us.”POD NOTE: Danny mentioned Harry was sure to run away soon if he didn't end up going to Hogwarts.Chapter 3 - The Knight BusQ1 - What do you think Harry saw that was “very big, with wide, gleaming eyes…like a dog, but massive?”“That man!” Harry said, forgetting his troubles for a moment. “He was on the Muggle news!” Stanley turned to the front page and chuckled. “Sirius Black,” he said, nodding, “Course ‘e was on the Muggle news, Neville. Where you been?”Q2 - Where have we seen Sirius Black before in this book?Q3 - Why do you think Sirius Black murdered 13 people with one curse?“Laughed,” said Stan, “Jus' stood there an' laughed. An' when reinforcements from the Ministry of Magic got there, ‘e went wiv ‘em quiet as anyfink. Still laughing ‘is ‘ead off. Cos ‘e's mad, inee, Ern? Inee mad?”Q4 - How do you think a wizard or witch could escape from a magical prison?Q5 - Why did Fudge come to see Harry?Chapter 4 - The Leaky CauldronQ1 - Why do you think Florean Fortescue is giving Harry free sundaes every half-hour?Q2 - Which of Harry's two new classes (Care of Magical Creatures or Divination) sounds more interesting?Q3 - Would you want a pet rat or a cat?Q4 - Who is your favorite of the Weasleys?“...makes no sense not to tell him” Mr Weasley was saying heatedly. “Harry's got a right to know. I've tried to tell Fudge, but he insists on treating Harry like a child. He's thirteen years old and—” “Arthur, the truth would terrify him!”Q5 - Why do you think Sirius Black wants to murder Harry?Chapter 5 - The DementorThey headed down to breakfast, where Mr Weasley was reading the front page of the Daily Prophet with a furrowed brow and Mrs Weasley was telling Hermione and Ginny about a Love Potion she made as a young girl. All three of them were rather giggly.Q1-  Do you think Mrs Weasley gave the love potion to Mr Weasley?“Harry, I knew you were, well, made of stronger stuff than Fudge seems to think, and I'm obviously pleased that you're not scared, but —”“Harry, swear to me you won't go looking for Black.”... “Why would I go looking for someone who wants to kill me?” said Harry blankly.Q2 - Why does Mr Weasley give Harry this advice to not go looking for Black?Q3 - Would you ever want to visit the Honeydukes and the Shrieking Shack?Q4 - Why would a building be more haunted than other buildings? And then, from far away, he heard screaming, terrible, terrified, pleading screams. He wanted to help whoever it was, he tried to move his arm, but couldn't…a thick white fog was swirling around him, inside him.Q5 - What are your thoughts on Dementors?Q6 - What do you think Hermione and McGonagall talked about?“It is not the nature of a Dementor to understand pleading or excuses.”Q7 - Do you think Hagrid will be a good teacher?Harry climbed the spiral stairs with no thought in his head except how glad he was to be back. They reached their familiar, circular dormitory with its five four-poster beds and Harry, looking around, felt he was home at last.

No… I am still not over it. Like Noah in “The Notebook” or the election results in Nevada and Georgia by mail-in ballot. “It was never over, it’s still not over.” Giving you a nice little part two to the last post looking at white culture: Shrek and Breaking Bad specifically, we are moving on, taking our next classic: the surprisingly progressive, feminist stance for Game of Thrones. As protocol, we are just not going to acknowledge the last few episodes. These showrunners–These are the two white men we should be holding most accountable for our problems. Fuck Christopher Columbus and our white savior mentality. D&D or Dooney & Bourke or whoever the imagineers of HBO's destruction and mutilation of George R.R. Martin's literary tact of “A Song of Ice and Fire”, deserves to be accountable for their sins, Black Mirror style. I'm thinking that episode where they wake up in a dystopia and can't remember why they're there, but are being hunted. If we were a novel country really intent on our military prestige, we could be using role-play scenarios like Black Mirror to reform our prison population, because our current criminal justice system is fucked, for the record. That's the type of conversion therapy I'd really like. Take all the actors and actresses who enjoy being characters for all of those Halloween horror nights at theme parks, slap them into role-play scenarios, then teaching empathy (but with your rape culture or conversion therapy mentality and we'll hold the same empathy that the Trump administration or GOP held for literally anyone other than themselves in the past year towards whether we should “tell them” its just a set up, ya know?) I like toying with emotions and really drilling in the reality for people. Why shouldn't rapists, domestic violence abusers, murderers, politicians who use their status for individual financial gain and purposefully mislead the citizen's they were elected to represent, have to enter a Hunger Games style arena for the amusement of normal, working class individuals who aren't sociopaths. THAT is the type of MMA, Gladiator-Coliseum television show that I would actually endorse. But only if it involves healthy life lessons and it's really a trap and we pardon people based around the mentality they employ over their actions or who they (try) to kill. In my reality, technology has advanced enough so we can just pause their actions or Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban time-turner style it so we can adjust the outcomes and save the good (Buckbeak). For legal reasons, I feel like I should stress that is a joke. I'm well aware, however much I loved the movie “Law Abiding Citizen”, that subjecting the people who hurt you to the same abuse you were subjected to is not the way to go to employ change. Take the kid in grad school who went on a coked out rampage in my apartment, only to threaten to shoot me and then physically intimidate me in my apartment complex (where we BOTH lived and also my employment) AND out at the local bars. Who accused me of “being too dramatic” for involving the police. THEN he even hired a lawyer to try and turn my own family member's against me via facebook messenger. COULD I have demanded he go to actual prison instead of just being arrested and having to post bail, do community service, anger management, and domestic violence abuser's classes? Yes. Could I have gotten him kicked out of school as well so that he had no chances of future employment while these charges were on him and no outlet for education? YES. Did I? No. I think we should all thank me for taking the civil route and not following my impulse of choking him out and throwing him in gator infested waters. Why the fuck do your parents endorse and excuse that behavior? What the fuck did you tell them to manipulate the way they looked
