The Network Effect is when you connect a network (IRLP, AllStar, Echolink, D-STAR, DMR, Fusion, etc) to a quiet, local repeater and turn on a busy nationwide or worldwide reflector, talk group, room, whatever. The repeater isn't quiet anymore… but who's talking. Nobody you know. Also, Gary K4AAQ will be volunteering for a big, new (to him) event: the Assault on Mt. Mitchell. That's a 100 mile bike ride from Spartanburg SC to the top of Mt. Mitchell in NC. With all the up and down (and the big UP at the end to the 6600' summit), the riders will see a total of 11,000 of vertical climb. And, we lost some hams this week. Bob Heil K9EID, of course, but also David W0DHG's friend Gary Apgar NY6Y, and Gary's friend and local hero Danny Hampton K4ITL. Danny was Dayton Hamvention's Ham of the Year in 2009, and founder of a regional repeater network in the Carolinas, long before the Internet came along to make it easy.

Back in 2014, East Coast Host Gary K4AAQ did a HamRadioNow show titled System Confusion, with a look at Yaesu's new C4FM mobile and handheld radios that he had just reviewed for QST. In that show, Gary and some friends from the Charlotte Digital Radio Group did a comparison of DV modes using handheld radios on D-STAR, DMR, P25, and those new C4FM Fusion handheld radio. The episode is our most-watched HamRadioNow show, with nearly 48,000 views (one TAPR DCC show in our catelog has more views). And although the show was a fair look at all the radios, the title alone seems to have cememted Gary's place on Yaesu's black list.Fast-forward to 2023, and Gary has finally added some Fusion radios to his arsonal of mobile, base and handheld radios, with a pair of FTM300s (mobile, base), and an FT5D handheld. In this episode, he reviews the FT5D, with help from hosts David W0DHG and Jim NO1PC, neither of whom see themselves signing on to System Fusion anytime soon. The fun begins with a look at the Yaesu FT5D Facebook Group, where Gary posted what he considered to be some innocent questions about his new radio (search the group for ‘Gary Pearce' to find his posts). That led to some snarky replies from a few members of the group, and the ‘discovery' that he was that Gary Pearce, of System Confusion fame. You be the judge. And bottom line: Gary likes the radio just fine (and the FTM300s). There are a few things he'd do different, and a thing or two he considers a bug or an oversight in design, but no dealbreakers. And at this point he doesn't expect Yaesu to take any of his suggestions into consideration because… well, he's the Confusion guy. And damn proud of it!

East Coast Host Gary K4AAQ presented a forum on Digital Voice for VHF/UHF 2023 at the Charlotte Hamfest in March. Gary ‘inherited' the forum from Roland Kraatz W9HPX, who became a Silent Key the previous December. Gary put in too many hours making ‘too many PowerPoint slides' to just do a one-hour forum, so he recorded this Special Edition for HamRadioNow. This version clocks in at about 90 minutes. Gary had to cut a lot of the slides he worked so hard to create to bring his talk down to an hour, so he put some of them back in for this version. Then, just for those of you with limited time, he took a digital axe to the whole thing and chopped it down to 15 minutes. It isn't pretty, but the essential elements are there. Maybe. We're also presenting Gary's original 2008 documentary Digital Voice for Amateur Radio, which includes his investigation of D-STAR and P-25, and the original DV mode for HF. Somehow all that is squeezed into less time than his slide show.Audio podcast listeners are being treated only to the 90 minute slide show. The ICOM ID-5100 was first released in 2015, 7 years ago. It's still ICOM's top-of-the-line dual-band D-STAR mobile rig. East Coast Host Gary K4AAQ just bought one to replace his 14-year-old ICOM IC-2820 (also a dual-band, D-STAR mobile), which was having trouble decoding D-STAR signals. In this episode, Gary shows how he had to revamp his Q-Mobile's control panel to fit the oversize control head of the 5100, then goes remote all the way to the garage (below the Studio in the Bonus Room) to demonstrate a few features (and issues) with the New Rig.And so you may have noticed that this episode is only an hour and 15 minutes long. Are we welching on you guys? Not really! Earlier in the day, David and Gary did a 3-hour ‘PROMORE' (a ‘promore', apparently, is a new word invented to describe our extended promos that are often full-length shows themselves). The IARU Region Political Relations Committee, in conjunction with the Region's EMC Committee, has submitted a paper to a recent European Commission Call for Evidence with respect to Solar Energy Strategy. Solar energy systems, which include Solar PV, are a progressive technology whose use is to be encouraged. However, there are certain caveats to be noted in deployment and ongoing use. The IARU concerns are not with solar technology, but with the potential noise pollution from so-called optimisers. The paper that was submitted detailed elements of the ongoing research and monitoring by the EMC Committee in this area. The paper is available on the IARU Region 1 website at iaru-r1.org. On Tuesday the 1.3GHz UK Activity Contest runs from 1900 to 2130UTC. Using all modes, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator. On Wednesday, the SSB leg of the 80m Club Championship runs between 1900 and 2030UTC. The exchange is a signal report and serial number. Thursday sees the 70MHz UK Activity Contest run from 1900 to 2130UTC. Using all modes, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator. The SP DX RTTY contest runs from 1200UTC on the 23rd to 1200UTC on the 24th. Using the 3.5 to 28MHz bands where contests are permitted, the exchange is signal report and serial number with polish stations also sending their Region code. Running from 1900UTC on the 23rd to 2130UTC on the 24th, the First MGM contest uses the 50 and 144MHz bands. The exchange is your report and 4-character locator. Next Sunday, the 24th, the BARTG Sprint 75 Contest runs from 1700 to 2100UTC. Using 75 baud RTTY on the 3.5 to 28MHz bands where contests are permitted, the exchange is the serial number. Now the radio propagation report, compiled by G0KYA, G3YLA, and G4BAO on Thursday the 14th of April 2022. We had a week with declining solar flux index numbers, but with the ever-present threat of coronal mass ejections. The SFI declined from 101 on Sunday to 96 on Wednesday with the possibility of further falls as the week goes on. A solar filament located near the centre disk of the Sun erupted early Monday morning generating a faint, halo coronal mass ejection (CME) that appeared to be squarely Earth-directed. A moderate (G2) geomagnetic storm watch was added for the 14th and skywatchers at middle to high latitudes were also put on alert for aurora. Meanwhile, the quieter geomagnetic conditions earlier in the week saw 10 metres open up to some good DX. Laurie, G3UML reports a long path opening to Australia on 20m CW from 0730 to 0800UTC. He worked two VK2s and a VK3 and listened to VK5QD who was very loud. Next week NOAA predicts that the SFI may climb again, perhaps into the range of 100 to 110. Geomagnetic conditions are predicted to be generally quiet, but with the ever-present risk of CMEs pushing the Kp index up to perhaps four or five at times. A pair of coronal holes became Earth facing on Thursday as well, which may bring unsettled conditions again this weekend. If the Kp index stays low we can expect MUFs to be near seasonal norms, perhaps with openings up to 21 and even 28MHz at times. Look out for occasional early-season Sporadic-E openings as well, which could bring short-skip openings into Europe on 10 metres. And now the VHF and up propagation news The high pressure over the North Sea and Scandinavia will decline slowly allowing a new area of low pressure over the nearby Atlantic to drift east into southern Britain during the Easter weekend. This will mean that any Tropo benefits, particularly over the Irish Sea and the North Sea will decline during the weekend. The new low will bring areas of showery rain across the country with a chance of rain scatter propagation. This is likely to be a pattern for much of the following week with low pressure over southern areas and occasionally expanding bands of rain farther north. The solar activity has continued to provide aurora options, so again worthwhile checking the clusters and Kp index for early signs of auroral activity. It is also a given that random meteor scatter is always available, especially for those who like to be up early in the morning! The main mode to keep a watch out for during the coming week is Sporadic-E, which is just beginning to make an appearance on 10m and even higher bands using digital modes. Jet streams are important as potential sources of the atmospheric gravity waves that can contribute to Es. You should look to the jet stream 300hectopascal or hPa upper air charts to see where they are located. Try paths that cross them, especially where they cross mountain ranges like the Alps or Pyrenees. Note a hectopascal equals a millibar. The Propquest.co.uk website has a set of four 300hPa charts for the current day and from the beginning of May will also contain a daily blog highlighting that day's prospects. The Winter minimum of meteor show activity is coming to an end. This week the small daytime April Piscids shower starts on the 20th, and peaks two days later at 2200UTC. This also coincides with the peak of the larger, and currently active Lyrids shower also on the 22nd but earlier at 1300 UTC. With a ZHR of around 18, it should produce some good reflections. Moon perigee is on Tuesday so path losses are at their lowest. Moon declination is negative again and reaches minimum on Thursday so Moon windows will be short and peak Moon elevation low. 144MHz sky noise is high, peaking at over 3000K on Thursday so combined with the low elevations a poor week for especially VHF EME. And that's all from the propagation team this week.

GB2RS News Sunday 29th August 2021 The news headlines: G QRP Convention details announced RSGB releases more Online Convention info Farnham WebSDR to close   The G QRP club has released a detailed agenda for its Online Convention 2021, taking place on the 4th and 5th of September. The event comprises a series of online presentations and knowledge-sharing meetings where people can share ideas and ask questions. You can find all the details at gqrp.com. The RSGB has announced further details of its online Convention, which will be held on Saturday the 9th of October. The event will be streamed live on the Society's YouTube channel. Andrew Barron, ZL3DW will present an entertaining talk about Software Defined Radio that re-evaluates what we mean by SDR. The talk is technical, but not too technical; no maths – well, not much – no software code and no vector diagrams. It is suitable for those who want to learn more about software-defined radio. Ray Novak, N9JA from Icom is well-known in DXing circles. He will look at the question of would you like to be on a DXpedition that doesn't break the bank? He will help you get interesting ideas on how to have fun as if you were on a DXpedition to a rare entity because your next amateur adventure could be as close as your local park. Whether you're new to amateur radio or have been enjoying it for years, do put the 9th of October in your diary. You can find more information at rsgb.org/convention. The popular amateur radio WebSDR at Farnham is to close in a few weeks due to a change of site ownership. It is hoped to eventually relocate to a new site, and the operators are asking for help to identify a suitable location. More at farnham-sdr.com. Ron White, G6LTT has been co-opted as RSGB Regional Representative 9, London and Thames Valley, until the RSGB 2022 AGM. He can be contacted by email to rr9@rsgb.org.uk. The Cambridge Repeater Group Foxton Rally is still going ahead on Sunday the 19th of September, however, there will not be a Bring & Buy. Car Boot traders are welcome. See cambridgerepeaters.net for details. If you are planning a visit to the RSGB National Radio Centre at Bletchley Park, please note that the RSGB will continue asking visitors to wear a face mask or shield, unless exempt. This policy is in the interest of volunteer and visitor safety, as there is limited airflow and it can get crowded in the theatre and technology areas. The RSGB is actively looking to recruit additional volunteers to join the team, particularly for the weekends. If you think this could be of interest to you, contact Martyn, G0GMB via email to martyn.baker@rsgb.org.uk. And now for details of rallies and events Before travelling to any rally or event, please check the event's website as there may be alterations or cancellations due to the pandemic. As previously publicised, the Milton Keynes ARS Rally, originally due to be held on the 29th of August, is cancelled. The organisers look forward to welcoming visitors again in 2022. The organisers of the Torbay Amateur Radio Society are very pleased to be able to confirm that the annual communications rally is going ahead today, the 29th of August. The event is being held at the Newton Abbot Racecourse site. Further details are at tars.org.uk. The Huntingdonshire ARS Rally will take place on bank holiday Monday, the 30th, at Ernulf Academy, St Neots PE19 2SH. Gates open for the public at 9 pm. Mobile and portable categories have resumed, but the organisers ask that participants please act sensibly. Now the radio propagation report, compiled by G0KYA, G3YLA & G4BAO on Friday the 27th of August. We had another week with a quiet Sun, but it wasn't as settled as you might think. Yes, the solar flux index was in the low- to-mid-80s, but the Sun started to get very active. The first event on Sunday saw a prominence eruption off the west limb that flung a coronal mass ejection, or CME, into space. Another eruption near active region 2859 also launched a large amount of plasma into space, but luckily it was not headed towards Earth. So, by Thursday, we had two large sunspot groups visible, with perhaps region 2860 looking more and more active as it grows. Any potential CME activity occurring as a result of any solar flare this weekend will likely end up hitting the Earth. DX was a little sparse, but there were some nuggets to be had. Josep, EA3BT, on holiday in Tanzania, was workable on 15m as 5I3B and Pasi, OJ0W, on Market Reef, supplied CW QSOs for many stations on a mix of bands including 80 metres. Gary, G0FWX on the 10 metre UK Net Facebook group reported hearing Australia on 10m FT8 last week. Gary said: “I started working VKs in the middle of September on SSB last year, but this is a good sign”. Next week, NOAA predicts the solar flux index will be in the mid-70s with mainly settled geomagnetic conditions. Friday the third is the exception when the Kp index is set to rise to four. Maximum usable frequencies are starting to rise a little thanks to seasonal changes, with 18MHz and even 21MHz often open during the daytime. These openings will likely firm up as we head towards mid-September and head into Autumn ionospheric conditions. And now the VHF and up propagation news. High pressure looks very likely to dominate the weather charts for the coming week and will continue the Tropo-themed weather pattern of the last few days. Unlike Sporadic-E, Tropo tends to be long lasting but is usually better overnight and across sea paths like the North Sea or across Biscay to Spain and beyond to EA8. Don't forget to try modes other than FM and FT8, such as SSB or CW – and do call CQ if the band is quiet. Sporadic-E itself is looking less exciting as we head to the end of the current summer season. Fleeting events can still happen, and 10m will carry the most traffic with just the odd foray onto 6m on a good day. Meteor scatter via random meteors is usually at its best in August, so keep looking around dawn to benefit from the pre-dawn enhancement. This is caused by the dayside of the earth rotating into the flux of meteors in the orbital plane. There is just one small meteor shower this week, peaking on the 1st of September. The Aurigids have a low Zenithal Hourly Rate of just six. The Moon reaches apogee on Monday so path losses will be at their highest for the month. On the positive side, peak declination occurs on Thursday so we have high peak elevations over 60 degrees meaning less ground noise at VHF and long Moon visibility windows. And that's all from the propagation team this week.

Gary has started a Facebook www.facebook.com continued group for blind amateur radio operators. If you're on Facebook, look for it. Richard notes that part of the reason simplex VHF traffic has fallen off is due to uncoordinated repeaters, some D-Star, that have cropped up on the simplex portion of the band. Ray, KO4RB, writes again to welcome Resonant Frequency back. BB, KC5PIY, also signed up as a listener on the web site and had some problems with the process. If you're have trouble signing up, please contact Richard for assistance. Chris, NW5W, writes to say he is having problems subscribing to the podcast through iTunes.Ted welcomes RF back and usually agrees with Richard's opinions. 38:22 Song "Shame" by Magic Slim and the Teardrops, from the album "Raising The Bar". 42:16 Topic More thoughts about the VHF/UHF wasteland. Remember that we lost part of the 220MHz band partly because it was under-utilized by hams. So, get out there and use the repeaters! Resonant Frequency has taken on an advertiser to help defray costs. Look for a show about 2010 Field Day coming soon. If you're in the North Texas ARRL Section, contact Richard to discuss the current situation. You may hear Richard on D-Star, VHF or HF. Give him a call! And send us you feedback. - Mathieu, 16:55 On a trouvé Réjean, on a réglé Star Trek. "The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Software Defined Radio: Everything you need to know to get started with SDR in an afternoon" is now open for enrollment.  Register now at https://courses.scannerschool.com --------------------------------------------------------------- Today we break down the similarities and differences when it comes to Scanners and Receivers What You Need To Know Scanners and Receivers are more like cousins than brothers and sisters in the radio world.  Both receive and scan frequencies They don’t transmit. Receivers have a larger receive foot-print than a typical scanner.  Typically 100 KHz is the bottom of a receiver, but you can go up to a couple of gigahertz. A typical scanners start as low as 25 MHz and go up to 1300 MHz Scanners will typically not support monitoring AM Broadcast Bands, but Receivers will. Scanners do not support SWL monitoring, but Receivers will. Scanners have more modes that are not found in receivers; NXDN, DMR, P25, are common modes of reception present in a scanner. Receivers have modes that are not in present in a scanner, such as upper and lower sidebands, AM and CW Some high end receivers will do D-STAR, P-25, dPMR, and NXDN. Receivers can be very affordable starting less than $200 and going over $10,000 for a high end model. Scanners can start at $100 and cost over $600 for a high end model. With close call and signal stalking, scanners can help you find a more relative frequency faster than a receiver.  All session notes with links to the items we talked about can be found on our website at www.scannerschool.com/session174 --------------------------------------------------------------- Would you like 1 on 1 help? Foundations of Amateur Radio

Foundations of Amateur Radio So, there's nothing on TV, the bands are dead, nobody is answering your CQ, you're bored and it's all too hard. You've run out of things to try, there's only so many different ways to use the radio and it's all too much. I mean, you've only got CW, AM, SSB, FM, there's Upper and Lower Side-band, then there's RTTY, the all too popular FT8, then there's WSPR, but then you run out of things. I mean, right? What about PSK31, SSTV, then there's AMTOR, Hellschreiber, Clover, Olivia, Thor, MFSK, Contestia, the long time favourites of Echolink and IRLP, not to forget Fusion, DMR, D-STAR, AllStar, BrandMeister or APRS. So far I've mentioned about 20 modes, picked at random, some from the list of modes that the software Fldigi supports. Some of these don't even show up on the Signal Wiki which has a list of about 70 amateur modes. With all the bands you have available, there's plenty of different things to play with. All. The. Time. There's contests for many of them, so once you've got it working, you can see how well you go. Over the past year I've been experimenting with a friend with various modes, some more successful than others. I'm mentioning this because it's not difficult to get started. Seriously, it's not. The most important part of this whole experiment is getting your computer to talk to your radio. If you have FT8 already working you have all the hardware in place. To make the software work, you can't go past installing Fldigi. As a tool it works a lot like what you're familiar with. You'll see a band-scope, a list of frequencies and a list of decodes. It's one of many programs that can decode and generate a multitude of amateur digital modes. If this is all completely new to you, don't be alarmed. There are essentially two types of connections between your computer and your radio. The first one is audio, the second is control. For this to work well, both these need to be two-way, so you can both decode the audio that the radio receives and generate audio that the radio can transmit. The same is true for the control connection. You need to be able to set the transmit frequency and the mode and you need to be able to read the current state of the radio, if only to toggle the transmitter on-and-off. If you already have CAT control working, that's one half done. I've spoken with plenty of amateurs who are reluctant to do any of this. If this is you, don't be afraid. It's like the first time you keyed up you radio. Remember the excitement? You can relive that experience, no matter how long you've been an amateur. Depending on the age of your radio, you might find that there is only one physical connection between your computer and the radio, either using USB or even Ethernet. You'll find that your computer will still need to deal with the two types of information separately. Notice that I've not talked about what kind of operating system you need to be running. I use and prefer Linux, but you can do this on any operating system, even using a mobile phone if that takes your fancy. Getting on air and making noise using your microphone is one option, but doing this using computer control will open you to scores of new adventures. I will add some words of caution here. In general, especially using digital modes, less is more. If you drive the audio too high you'll splatter all over the place and nobody will hear you, well, actually, everyone will, but nobody will be able to talk to you because they won't be able to decode it. If the ALC on your radio is active, you're too loud. WSJT-X, the tool for modes like FT8 and WSPR, has a really easy way of ensuring that your levels are right, so if you've not done anything yet, start there. Another issue is signal isolation. What I mean by that is you blowing up your computer because the RF travelled unexpectedly back up the serial or audio cable and caused all manner of grief. You can get all fancy with optical isolation and at some point you should, but until then, dial the power down to QRP levels, 5 Watts, and you'll be fine. A third issue that was likely covered during your licensing is the duty cycle. It's the amount of time that your radio is transmitting continuously as compared to receiving only. For some modes, like WSPR for example, you'll be transmitting for a full 2 minutes at 100%, so you'll be working your radio hard. Even harder might unexpectedly be using FT8, which transmits in 15 second bursts every 15 seconds, so there may not be enough time for your radio to cool down. Investing in a fan is a good plan, but being aware of the issue will go a long way to keeping the magic smoke inside your radio. I'm sure that you have plenty of questions after all that. You can ask your friends, or drop me an email, cq@vk6flab.com and I'll be happy to point you in the right direction. Next time there's nothing good on TV, get on air and make some digital noise! If you find anything useful in an episode of Resonant Frequency, consider donating a dollar. That's less than a gallon of gasoline. 13:00 Song "Voodoo Queen" by Tommy Dardar, from the album "Blues Fool" 13:55 Buzzword Memory effect - reality or myth? If you partially discharge a nickel-cadmium battery (NiCad), and recharge it, it may "remember" that point of discharge as it's fully discharged state. The best practice is to fully discharge a NiCad battery pack before recharging, and avoid the use of rapid chargers. A related phenomenon is "lazy battery", where the battery appears to have a full charge, but becomes depleted rapidly when put to use. This is often caused by frequent overcharging, and may be cured by several deep discharge/recharge cycles. 20:29 Song "Wasn't That Enough" by Janiva Magness, from the album "Bury Him At The Crossroads" 22:01 Topic Nicad batteries. This topic was suggested by several messages on the forums. The abbreviation NiCad is a registered trademark of SAFT Corporation. Advantages: lower weight, good charging efficiency, smaller variations in terminal voltage during discharge, low internal resistance, non-critical charging condition. In theory, a nicad battery may be charged and discharged up to 1000 times. 39:06   Comparison to Nickel-metal Hydride (NiMH) 40:42 Disadvantages: higher cost, toxicity, memory effect, and a negative temperature coefficient. Nicad cells are typically 1.2V, while alkaline cells are 1.5V. 45:11 Charging. The typical overnight charge, called a C/10 charge, is accomplished by applying 10% of the battery's total capacity for a period of 14 hours; that is, a 100 mAh battery takes 140 mAh of energy to charge. 53:53 Dendritic shorting. 56:07 Song "Welfare Blues" by Kirk Fletcher, from the album "Shades of Blue" 58:25 Conclusion ail Richard at kb5jbv@gmail.com itter.com/kb5jbv KB5JBV on D-Star via port C on the NE5R repeater. theme music is "Give It All Away", by midliFeCrisis, from the album "Live from the Loft" Closing theme music is "We Gotta Go" by David Henderson at Podsafe Audio. What are the differences between Digital and Analog Pros Quality of Audio Other information beside just your voice being transmitted. You Call sign, location and possible other things go out every time you transmit as well. Can download all the repeaters in the US and put into your radio. Radio can find repeaters that are close to you Repeaters often connected to the internet Cons From the outside looking in, DStar seems to have a steep learning curve Analog radios can not talk on DStar repeaters DStar can easily cover a large area because you can link together multiple repeaters in the area over the internet or if installed over a 1.2 or 2.4 GHz link. Original cost of radios were high but has recently come down and is nearly in line with other radios. We talk about the different radios that are available for use with DStar as well as some accessories that you can use. Check out this post and this post for more information about DStar and the DStar radios and accessories. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), who is at ground zero against the war on crime in Chicago. He will do ANYTHING to bring criminals to justice. From multiple Emmy Award-winning Executive Producer Dick Wolf and the team behind the hit series "Chicago Fire," "Chicago P.D." is a riveting police drama about the men and women of the Chicago Police Department's elite Intelligence Unit, combatting the city's most heinous offenses - organized crime, drug trafficking, high profile murders and beyond.Handpicked as the head of the Unit is Voight, who has assembled a team of diverse detectives who share his passion and commitment to keeping the city safe. They include Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) who is more levelheaded and "by the book" than his counterpart; Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), a brash young detective who previously saw active military duty in the Middle East; Halstead's partner Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), a former "bad girl" who turned her life around with Voight's help; Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas), an experienced undercover detective and confidante for Voight; and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), a quick-witted cadet plucked from the police academy as Olinsky's partner. The unit includes a new member in the form of Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins), a charismatic patrolman who recently was brought upstairs. Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) assist with the unit, but on a daily basis, they work the streets as uniform patrol officers working with Intelligence whenever necessary. Desk Sgt. Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) runs a tight precinct with tough love, although she lets her softer, more vulnerable side shine through from time to time.WWW.H-D.COM/ROADSTERWWW.NBC.COM/CHICAGO-PDACTOR, PRODUCER, WRITER AND DIRECTOR, JOE MANTEGNA TO CO-HOST ANNUAL NIGHT OF REMEMBRANCE HONORING OUR AMERICAN HEROES: PBS' NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT JOE MANTEGNA AND GARY SINISE CO-HOST ANNUAL NIGHT OF REMEMBRANCE HONORING OUR AMERICAN HEROES: PBS' NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERTLive From the U.S. Capitol, All-Star Line-Up Features: General Colin Powell, Renee Fleming, The Beach Boys, Katharine McPhee, Trace Adkins, S.
