While automotive EV growth increases with a clear path towards a dominant position for electrics on the roads, why haven't electric motorcycles seen similar growth as electric autos in the U.S.? They are contributing to large climate improvements in other nations. How can we see the same in the U.S? Also, one million eBikes are sold in America annually and they have replaced a significant amount of automobile use. Whether that is from kids riding an eBike to school rather that traveling in their parent's car or consumers using them for quick, easy, and very affordable local transportation, eBike use has contributed towards less carbon emissions and a healthier lifestyle for eBike owners. This industry has been unregulated and has become dangerous, though. What legislation and regulation is coming and how will this affect the eBike industry and their use? CleanTechnica's Scott Cooney talks with Andy Leisner about these matters.

Electric vehicles offer a level of versatility that is unmatched by traditional gas-powered vehicles. From the ability to customize the driving experience to the convenience of swappable batteries, electric vehicles offer a range of advantages that make them an attractive option for many drivers. The LAND MOTO from LAND Energy takes versatility to a whole new level.Electric vehicles offer versatilityOne of the most appealing aspects of electric vehicles is the ability to customize the driving experience. With a software-defined vehicle like the LAND MOTO from LAND Energy, drivers can choose from four different ride modes, ranging from a pedal-less electric bike to an electric performance motorcycle. This means that the same vehicle can be used for a leisurely bike ride, a quick moped ride, or a high-speed motorcycle ride, all without needing to switch out engines. This versatility allows drivers to enjoy a range of experiences with just one vehicle. In addition to the versatility of the driving experience, electric vehicles also offer the convenience of swappable batteries. This means that if battery technology improves, drivers can simply swap out the old battery for a new one rather than needing to buy a whole new vehicle. This eliminates the need to buy a new car every time there is an advancement in battery technology. The versatility of the LAND MOTO is further enhanced by its IoT capabilities. With wireless connectivity, this electric vehicle can be tracked and managed remotely. This means that owners can keep track of their bikes, and parents can lock down their bikes so that their kids can't ride them at high speeds. LAND MOTO also offers the benefit of security, as they can be geofenced and even shut down if they are moved to a location where they are not wanted.Overall, the LAND MOTO offers a level of versatility that is unmatched by traditional gas-powered vehicles. From the ability to customize the driving experience to the convenience of swappable batteries and the security of IoT capabilities, electric vehicles offer a range of advantages that make them an attractive option for many drivers.Electric motorcycles are safeWhen it comes to electric motorcycles, the advantages are even greater. LAND MOTO offers a level of safety that is unmatched by traditional gas-powered bikes. From the lack of noise that can mask the sound of other vehicles to the ability to upgrade the bike's software over the wire, electric motorcycles are designed to keep riders safe on the road. One of the most important safety features of electric motorcycles is their lack of noise. This allows riders to be aware of their surroundings and be able to hear other vehicles on the road. Additionally, many electric motorcycles, including the LAND MOTO, come with a feature that adds a little noise to the bike so that the rider can sense when they are going fast and can adjust their speed accordingly. This feature is also shared by Tesla and Toyota, who have both had to add sound to their vehicles for safety reasons.Another great safety feature of the LAND MOTO is the ability to do software upgrades over the wire. This means that as new capabilities are released, riders can simply download the update onto their bike and be ready to go. This week on our motorcycle podcast Liza shares an amazing story in a segment we call How Did We Not Know About This, about motorcycles designed by NASA for the moon. Moon scooters were almost a thing! Next up we talk about the massive influx of new electric motorcycles being announced, and who is going to survive this EMoto Thunderdome. Will it be a company with a base in the industry like Kymco or Kawasaki? Or will it be a small company like Fuell or Cake? Do any of these companies bring some new innovation to the table? Or are they all just different aesthetics in an industry already capped by technology? And what does this mean to the rider that hasn't even thought of buying an electric motorcycle yet? We discuss all these things, and why you should be watching the market as they all fight to survive and claim their spot in the future of motorcycling. In game time, Liza springs a spelling bee on the guys, and we find out who can actually spell these often mispronounced motorcycle words. And lastly, we read listener emails and find out what most of us may be doing wrong. With Liza, Stumpy John, Morgan and Bagel. "PROBABLY WHAT I LIKE BEST ABOUT HOGS IS THE FREEDOM. YOU KNOW, YOU BUY A LOT LESS GAS WITH A HOG. AND, UNLIKE AN AUTOMOBILE, SOMETIMES A HOG WILL HELP YOU FIND TRUFFLES!" - GRUFF JULEPIf you've ever mounted a big boy and felt the rumble between your legs, you're Jack. If you've never experienced the sensation but are intrigued, you're Dan. That is essentially the theme of today's episode.Jack's got an adventure, and the ending is yet-to-be-determined, but that doesn't stop him from bringing us the story of his quest to become a world-famous electric motorcycle racer... our at least a licensed motorcycle drive. And if you thought that was all, you'd be dead wrong. Because hog-enthusiast Gruff Julep finds his way into the studio while looking for a restroom, and hilarity ensues. On top of all that, we have two amazing bands who break up the voices with their dulcet tones:NANO PAX - LIVE AT TREMBLING MIND FESTIVALBILLY MOTHERBOARD - COCONUTAnd as always, thanks to the great Tony Ferraro for our original intro and outro music.------To check out past episodes, head over to MenSeekingTomahawks.com.Join us throughout the week in our fun Facebook Group.Give us a shout on Twitter. We love you,Jack & Dan
It is said that “Four wheels move the body and two wheels move the soul.”Riding a motorbike means you always have to be fully engaged, especially when hitting those high speeds. It's not easier or safer than driving a car but it provides a richer experience, and that's what attracts riders.A motorbike innovation that adds value in aspects such as safety and eco-friendliness without diminishing the rider's experience is definitely viable. That's exactly what one company has been seeking to achieve. They've built a high-performance electric motorbike with AI-powered safety features without diminishing the riding experience. In this episode, the second part of two, Ed Bernardon interviews Jay Giraud, CEO, and co-founder of Damon Motorcycles – an electric motorcycle startup aiming to make the riding experience cleaner, safer, and more exhilarating. He'll share with us what sets their motorbike apart when compared to traditional motorbikes. Some Questions I Ask:How does the performance of your bike compare to traditional motorbikes? (00:56)Is the battery in a Damon motorbike heavier than an internal combustion engine and the fuel? (04:57)How does the bike communicate with a rider when they are in a dangerous situation? (13:39)How far away are we from a semi-autonomous motorbike (15:24)What You'll Learn in this Episode:What was done to make a Damon motorbike lightweight (03:26)The bikes' performance in terms of top speed and acceleration (07:58)The features and sensors that contribute to the bike's safety (09:49)How much it costs to buy a Damon motorbike (19:21)Connect with Jay Giraud: LinkedInDamon MotorcyclesConnect with Ed Bernardon:LinkedInFuture Car: Driving a Lifestyle RevolutionMotorsports is speeding the way to safer urban mobilitySiemens Digital Industries Software Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Riding a motorcycle is exhilarating! If you are not used to it, you get to experience fear, pleasure, and freedom, all at once. At high speeds; you get to feel the wind hitting you, hear the sound coming from the engine, and on sharp corners, see yourself defying gravity. However, a majority of people riding motorcycles don't get to use them because they enjoy the experience. They do it because it's the only means of transport that's available to them. One of the biggest challenges that faces almost all motorbike users is safety. This problem is magnified in cases where they have to share roads with cars and it has necessitated the need for a safer and smarter motorbike. One of the ways to achieve that is to build an electric motorcycle that can scan its surroundings and warn the rider when they are facing danger. In this episode, the first part of two, Ed Bernardon interviews Jay Giraud, CEO and co-founder of Damon Motorcycles. An electric motorcycle startup aiming to make the riding experience cleaner, safer, and more exhilarating. He'll share with us the progress they've made so far with their electric motorcycle. Some Questions I Ask:What are the big problems that motorcyclists face that you're trying to reverse engineer? (02:52)How do you use data from riders to enhance safety? (15:33)How did your career evolve? (20:35)Who helped you in building your first electric car? (24:30)What You'll Learn in this Episode:Why people push the limits of motorcycle safety (07:35)How Damon makes motorbikes safer (08:55)The time a rider or driver requires to avoid an accident (13:26)The paradigm that Damon Motorcycles is working to change (17:53)Connect with Jay Giraud: LinkedInDamon MotorcyclesConnect with Ed Bernardon:LinkedInFuture Car: Driving a Lifestyle RevolutionMotorsports is speeding the way to safer urban mobilitySiemens Digital Industries Software Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Electric motorcycles have come up quick in the e-mobility world with some of the sleekest and coolest designs, but there is always room for more. I'd ridden the motorcycle part of the way up a small dirt hill, and was trying to simply reverse my way back down when I fell off the machine. As I went down, I tightened my grip, inadvertently pinning the throttle. I soon found myself underneath a pirouetting motorcycle. It was my first experience with the so-called whiskey throttle—and indeed my first experience of any kind on a motorcycle.
