Mark Corbett introduces Brandon Noe who has been organizing the Goofy Gobbler Awards for the past five years.Brandon reflects on how the awards started as a joke but have now grown into a prestigious tradition. The Goofy Gobblers aim to bring fun and humor to the sport, poking fun at various baseball-related antics. You can find Brandon on Twitter @SportsBlitzPod.Award 1: Grandpa PoliticsWinner: Tampa Bay Rays & Pinellas CountyReasoning: Brandon jokes that this award goes to the duo for their contentious stadium discussions, with the Rays' leadership and political maneuvering creating tension when unity was needed.Mark's Take: Mark agrees the award is fitting, emphasizing the constant political wrangling around stadium deals in baseball.Award 2: You Brought Them AwardWinner: Ice Cube & Fat JoeReasoning: The duo performed pre-game music for every home opener during the World Series, but their performance seemed awkward, failing to connect with the fans. Most reactions were of indifference or mild confusion.Mark suggests a rap battle between Ice Cube and Fat Joe might have been a better way to engage fans. He also humorously suggests an old-school battle between Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler.Award 3: Dry Turkey AwardWinner: Toronto Blue JaysReasoning: The Blue Jays had high expectations, especially after chasing Shohei Ohtani, but failed to deliver. Key players like Matt Chapman were lost, and there were no major improvements to the team. Brandon suggests they might face another rebuild soon, highlighting their underwhelming performance despite their talent.Mark agrees, pointing out the Blue Jays' inability to live up to their potential, especially with players like Biggio and Teoscar Hernandez leaving for other teams.Award 4: Drunkle AwardWinner: Jenny Kavanaugh, Oakland A's Lead AnnouncerReasoning: This award goes to Kavanaugh for multiple awkward moments in her first year as the A's lead announcer, including a famous “Hey Siri, it's not your night” comment right before a game-tying homer. She also misjudged a fly ball as having a “chance” to go out of the stadium.Mark's Take: Mark empathizes with Kavanaugh, acknowledging how tough it is to be in her position and encourages her to improve in her second year.Closing Thoughts:Brandon continues to reflect on the season's quirky moments, adding humor and unique perspectives to the world of baseball.Mark wraps up the discussion, offering thanks to Brandon for his work on the Goofy Gobbler Awards.Links & References:Follow Brandon on Twitter @SportsBlitzPodEpisodes available on all major podcast platformsJust a reminder you can find Mark at @baseballbizondeck.bsky.socialSpecial thank s to XTaKeRuX for the music “Rocking ForwardWebsite: www.baseballbizondeck.com

Chan and Coug chat about P Diddy, false teachers, and sports entertainment

There is an escape clause after 5 years and also a clause that could escalate his salary to 51 million a year. You mean to tell me that these teams make that much money in baseball that they can pay one player ¾ of the value of the organization? DO you know what it is? How it will impact the game? Does this make the rich richer? Why baseball is a failure in so many fronts: deferred money Did they get the college football playoff bracket correct? Who should have made it & who should they replace? Why did it take so long? The Cobra is heading to the Hall of Fame!
On this week's episode, we begin by discussing the Giants landing their shortstop of the future by signing Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million contract, the largest in franchise history. From there, we discuss Luis Severino landing the largest contract in A's history, Clay Holmes signing with the Mets as a starter, Tyler O'Neill and Gary Sanchez heading to the Orioles, Shane Bieber heading back to Cleveland, and Aroldis Chapman signing with the Red Sox. Welcome to Episode 109 of "Unsportsmanlike Conduct," where Farace, Tim, and Anthony are ready to break down the week in sports chaos. Melo remains the wildcard, but we're always hopeful. Week 12 NFL picks are in the books, with Anthony leading the way at 15-1, Farace and Tim not far behind at 14-2, and Ed's 16-0 perfection casting an unmatchable shadow.**Week 12 NFL Recap** Farace and Tim break down the Week 12 slate, each taking a victory lap for their impressive 14-2 records—though Anthony, at 15-1, will smugly remind them he's still in the lead. Expect Farace to blame one of his two misses on bad officiating and Tim to claim his losses were purely "strategic."**World Famous Week 13 NFL Picks** It's time for the *World Famous* Week 13 picks! Farace will make some bold calls, Tim will try to play it safe and logical, and Anthony's strategy will likely involve quietly dominating while everyone else debates their choices. There's always at least one pick that sparks a mini-meltdown—tune in to see who breaks first.**Azeez Al-Shaair Suspended for Dirty Hit** The crew dives into the fallout from Azeez Al-Shaair's three-game suspension for his hit on Trevor Lawrence. Farace speculates on how this impacts the Jaguars' playoff hopes, while Tim questions if this suspension sends any meaningful message in the NFL's discipline system.**Rob Manfred and the Golden Bat Rule** Rob Manfred's latest "brilliant" idea, the *Golden Bat Rule,* has the guys scratching their heads. While it's not going into effect (yet), the concept is so bizarre it has sparked outrage across baseball fandom. Farace, as the Mets fan, will rant about how this would inevitably screw his team. Tim, ever the Yankees fan, will laugh but also ask why MLB insists on creating solutions to problems nobody has.**Juan Soto Rumors** Rumors are swirling that Juan Soto could be on the move, with the Mets, Yankees, and Red Sox supposedly in the mix. Farace, of course, will argue why Soto belongs in Queens, Tim will make a compelling case for the Yankees landing the superstar, and Anthony will sit back and enjoy the back-and-forth. Who will pony up $600+ million? The speculation alone is worth the price of admission.**The NBA Cup: Does Anyone Care?** The NBA Cup is happening, and Tim is here to rip it apart. Expect him to lead a full-blown rant about how unnecessary this in-season tournament is. Farace will compare it to a glorified preseason gimmick, and Anthony will probably roll his eyes and wonder why we're wasting time on this topic instead of diving deeper into football.Join us for Episode 109, where NFL drama, MLB rumors, and outrageous rules collide for another round of laughs, banter, and hot takes. Whether you're here for the picks or just to hear Tim destroy the NBA Cup, this episode has it all!

Scream Addicts Podcast: Horror movies | Movie reviews | Horror
This week, Jinx welcomes Scott Foy back to the show! A writer and reviewer who’s written for such websites as Ain’t It Cool News, Creature Corner, and Dread Central, Mr. Foy (aka "The Foywonder”) discusses Hajime Sato's 1966 horror/sci-fi/superhero masterpiece Golden Bat for this week's ep. With its beautiful black and white photography, fun action sequences, and the astonishing level of utter lunacy on display, Golden Bat inspired a conversation which covers the film's zany plot and comic book origins, its should-be iconic hero, and the film's sad lack of availability here in the US. Along the way, Foy and Jinx discuss the Japanese worldview of wabi-sabi, the other attempts to bring Golden Bat to screens big and small, and quite possibly the most disturbing series of superhero movies ever (...ugh). It’s a helluva fun chat with a great guest about an underloved gem, and it’s one we hope you enjoy! Make certain to subscribe to our show on iTunes, leave feedback, tell your friends about us, check out Mr. Foy’s “Foywonder” YouTube Channel, and give us a yell on Facebook and Twitter. On a very special episode of the podcast, we are ridiculously excited to welcome the legendary and prolific martial arts action star Sonny Chiba! Matt ventured to Fandom Fest in Kentucky to sit down and talk with Mr. Chiba. With nearly 200 acting credits, Sonny Chiba has done it all. He's well known for his roles in cult classics like the Street Fighter series, Golgo 13, Message From Space, the Yakuza Papers and Bodyguard Kiba. He's been in everything from early tokusatsu films like Golden Bat and Invasion of the Neptune Men to work in Hollywood with Kill Bill and Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. He's done dozens of yakuza and martial arts films. He's also done a lot of stunt work, as well as founding the Japan Action Club for stunt/action actors. Listen as Sonny describes a variety of topics including legendary director Kinji Fukusaku, Vic Morrow, being cast by Quentin Tarantino, Fast and the Furious, language barriers on set, early tokusatsu hero film sets, differences between Japanese and Hollywood films, late actors Ken Takakura and Hirkoi Matsukata, advise for future stunt actors and more! Special thanks to Hiro Kitagawa for translating for this interview.
The skeleton is the hero, the scientists are soldiers, the drill has sunglasses, we don't know who the main character is, and the bad guy is in his pajamas. Oh, and it's Japanese. This predecessor to what we know in the states as Power Rangers sets its plot on the roof of its, hits the gas, and never looks back. As far as we can tell there's no reason for the title character to be in the movie, but there he is like a reget from a heavy metal album cover that wouldn't exist for another decade at least. Because what kid doesn't want to see a laughing skeleton that kicks butts. We've dug up and present to you, our dear listeners, The Golden Bat! Next Week: Doomed to Die!
Before Batman, before Superman, before even the Phantom, there was the Golden Bat. “Ogon Batto” (as he's known in Japanese) is, arguably, the world's first costumed superhero. The skull-headed, ruff-wearing, sword-wielding hero's backstory was one that would fit in any […]
The first Japanese superhero? This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse the gang will talk about a film one our facebook fans John Detrich posted the trailer for. The film is Golden Bat from 1966. It’s Japanese craziness with Sonny Chiba. A teenage boy discovers that the planet Icarus is on a collision course with Earth […]
