Brian, Blake and Richard are back with an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast! Is Brian the Larry David of the pedal world? He certainly resembles him according to Richard and the guys chat about some TV before Blake notices Brian isn't paying full attention. Strymon have released a new Phaser with an interesting name and Richard loves the look of it. Brian is not yet convinced but the guys chat about it and whether or not you need that many options for a phaser before Blake waxes lyrical about the depths of modulation he wishes to reach before the guys talk about pedal aesthetics and minimalism.Fender have announced the new Player Plus range and they are going to sit right at the top end of their "Made in Mexico" line with some colors that got leaked. This causes Brian to go to an Italian website and he becomes confused by cookies. Mmm...Cosmic Jade...and is Dark Night the Antigua burst of this generation of Fender guitars?Richard has attempted the simplest piece of guitar modification possible - and it went horribly pear shaped - so he tells us about exactly what went wrong and why you should listen to the advice of others. Except him. He's one of the top three stupidest people on this episode. The guys try and sell him on the benefit of a decent soldering station. Yes, it got nerdy as hell at this point. Is there anything nicer than a sea-foam green guitar? What about a sea-foam green guitar back scratcher? How about one branded by Joe Bonamassa? Yes, we have sent our hard earned dollars to the Joe B marketing machine and the guys perform a "live" review.  At the time of recording Blake was preparing to talk to Misha Mansoor of Periphery and the guys look a little at his music and his business. Maximum Self Oscillation, Nu-X or Nux, The Hot Tub of manly diseases, The Geriatric Eagles, Disgusting plastic wrap, Soldering stations... Did you catch Dave Grohl trolling some mean folk? The guys chat with reverence and awe over his amazing prank delivery and the concept of a mobile stage, arial guitar licks, and paintball guns. Is Brian wearing any pants? Are they underpants or overpants, it's all very confusing for him, and becomes doubly so when the conversation moves on to the famous actor Idris Elba who Brian has never heard of. Logan Paul? Different story...Remember last week when Brian found a four inch snake? Well this week he encountered a relative and had to dispatch it humanely. He expounds on his theory about snakes, you wont be disappointed by it before he and Blake ponder life on the road. Brian has come up with a new circuit! Its got him all excited and he drops a hint about what it may be...#itdefinitelyisntametalzone. Meanwhile, the gear industry is suffering from a major parts shortage, and we find ourselves bidding against major companies and governments for precious  OpAmp chips.Theres a special jack socket out that makes a bold claim about its advantages. "It doesn’t matter where you are. It doesn’t matter who you are playing with. Stand out and be the best you can be." Brian Tichy is an incredible drummer who stands out in the hard-rock and classic rock genres. Most notably he has performed with Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Ozzy Osbourne, Sass Jordan, Foreigner, Dead Daisies and many others. His projects include the brand new Silverthorne and past project with Sass Jordan, S.U.N. Besides his work as a musician, he also took on the role of organizing Bonzo Bash. This is a party event that he came up with years ago where he and other drummers pay tribute to John Bonham by performing Led Zeppelin tunes. This event has brought quite a buzz along with it over the years where some famous drummers, including one of Tichy’s biggest influences, Peter Criss, came out to partake in the fun. Brian has also appeared on Drumeo where he breaks down some of the most famous Bonham grooves, tasty triplet licks for rock drumming and more! There is a link below to check out five essential Bonham licks! Brian is a human encyclopedia for classic rock music and specifically Led Zeppelin. Very few can come as close as Brian to sounding like the greatest rock drummer of all time, IMO. You Will Hear About…. Brian breaks down twelve different famous guitar riffs. Is Brian doing Bonzo Bash again in January? Brian also explains all of what goes into creating an event like that. The distinct differences between the side-man role versus bandleader/event organizer. Brian’s new band Silverthorne and what their action plan is to bring this band to the public. Brian’s thoughts on click-tracks in the studio, quantizing drum parts, autotune and why he thinks the industry went in this direction. Why Should You Listen? A lot of DrumeoGab episodes go deep and often have a heavy tone within the conversations. This episode with Brian Tichy has a lighter vibe and gets into our mutual love for classic rock and the good old days of what was considered pop music. Along with that conversation comes Brian’s thoughts on the current state of audio recording in popular music and essentially how the human component is being removed little by little. There is also some great insight into what goes into planning events or running a band. So for anyone out there who is wishing to walk the more entrepreneurial path of the music industry, there may be some very helpful insights within this episode for you. So begins 2017, the year that will almost certainly end with our hosts ruining the podcast completely because they refuse to stop talking about their big games once they come out. Wondering how much time the lads can actually spend talking about Mass Effect and Horizon: Zero Dawn? Stick with us this year and find out. But back to the present; with the Failed Critics guys having a well deserved week off (have you heard their stuff from the back end of the year? We're surprised Owen is still standing) we have decided to fill in the film flavoured hole that they've left this week. What better way to do that with rolling in an Assassin's Creed special that ends with us chatting about (and spoiling) the latest video-game adaptation? Fresh from their New Years Eve hangovers, hosts John Miller and Andrew Brooker return to dissect the decade old stealth series and have invited Failed Critics regular and Assassin's Creed super fan Brian Plank into our dark and dingy gaming basement to help us talk about the franchise that has moulded Ubisoft's gaming model for nearly ten years. Come spend some time with us as the boys enlighten you about their history with the Creed. What's John's favourite game in the series? Who is Brooker's top Assassin? Is Brian a secret (American) psychopath? All this and more in our epic special. Join us in a fortnight when we will… well, we don't know. Join us in two weeks when there will be a podcast. About something. Shambolic as ever. In the mean time, come find us on Twitter or Facebook (both @CharacterUnlock) and join in the conversation.
