Brian George has drawn on his experiences (both in and out of body) for his poetry and essays. A collection of the latter form his book, Masks of Origin: Regression in the Service of Omnipotence, on Untimely Books. Stories, examinations of faith and spirituality, philosophy, and visual works show a unique take on our world. As part of his appearance on The Brown Posey Press Show, George reads selections of his works, drawing the listener (as it has the reader) into a deeper look at the author, and perhaps ourselves. Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends I'm your host Ray Shasho. Every once in awhile I like to spotlight up and coming groups with a lot of talent and today I'd like to showcase a new group called ROSENEATH from Richmond Virginia… Taking influence from 90's alternative classics as well as modern grunge, post-hardcore, and shoegaze bands, Richmond, VA's Roseneath combines driving riffs with soaring melodies to create something new with a familiar nostalgia. The music is for fans of Quicksand, Nirvana, Balance & Composure, Failure, Modern Color, Narrow Head, and Smashing Pumpkins. The duo is made up of Brian George on guitar/bass, together with Jason Roberts commanding vocals and production (as well as some guitar/bass too). Whatever they might lack in official members, they more than make up for with expertly crafted tunes. Out of the gate, the band absolutely smoked their debut release ‘SHINE' receiving rave reviews. ‘NOWHERE SAFE ‘is the group's brand-new album available to preorder now and officially released on June 16th, 2023. “Roseneath have a magical way of leveraging their influences to come up with catchy and well-written songs.” Says ‘Everything is Noise'. “I'm somewhat baffled as to how bandmates Jason Roberts and Brian George are capable of such a rich and all-encompassing sound all by their lonesome, but their considerable gifts make it altogether unsurprising.” Say's - No Echo Please welcome Brian George of the sensational new alternative rock group ROSENEATH to Interviewing the Legends… PREORDER THE BRAND-NEW ALBUM BY ROSENEATH Entitled ‘NOWHERE SAFE' and THEIR INCREDIBLE DEBUT ALBUM ‘SHINE' at https://roseneath.bandcamp.com/merch and https://linktr.ee/roseneath Taking influence from 90's alternative classics as well as modern grunge, post-hardcore, and shoegaze bands, Richmond, VA's Roseneath combines driving riffs with soaring melodies to create something new with a familiar nostalgia. Welcome to Occult of Personality: esoteric podcast extraordinaire! Now, in episode number 219, we're joined by author Brian George to discuss his recent book, Masks of Origin: Regression in the Service of Omnipotence. https://untimelybooks.com/book/masks-of-origin/ Brian and his work are not the sort typically featured on this podcast. But I think you will find that the intention and exploration of his writing goes towards the results of esoteric practice and the consideration of all of the huge questions that define the meaning of our existence. This conversation is not unlike Brian's writing in that our pace is easy, our course is not linear, and through it insights that are both wonderful and a bit surprising reveal themselves. If you appreciate humanity's struggle to know and find new ways of knowing, you'll enjoy this conversation. Give Brian some love and pick up his book if you enjoyed his interview.Brian George's personal essays invite the reader on a journey beyond the normal categories of space, time, and narrative structure, towards a shore of multidimensional experience. Writes the author: “The book is not quite a collection of essays, or the fragments of an autobiography, or a record of inter-dimensional journeys, or a work of metaphysics, or a sociopolitical critique, or an attempt to formulate a contemporary mythology—although it has elements of all of these.” In Masks of Origin, we meet the artist not only as a cosmic traveler and esoteric yogi, but also as a schoolboy, a son, a rebel, a lover, a teacher, a friend/enemy, and a family man—in short, as a person with adventurous goals but few pretenses. As we follow George in the probing of his origins, we may find that we have suddenly drawn much closer to our own.You can find more of Brian's writing here: https://dark-mountain.net/author/brian-george/ and https://www.metapsychosis.com/creative-agents/brian-george/.Occult of Personality podcast is made possible by you, the listeners, and by the subscribers to chamberofreflection.com, our membership website who aid us in the cause of informed, authentic, and accessible interviews about western esotericism. For the twenty-seventh episode of the Integral Stage's Author Series, Layman meets with author and artist, Brian George, to talk about his book, Masks of Origin: Regression in the Service of Omnipotence; about speaking the unspeakable; and about his creative life and work in general. From the book description: "Brian George's debut collection of personal essays invites the reader on a journey beyond the normal categories of space, time, and narrative structure, toward a further shore of multidimensional and more-than-human experience. These are 'essays' in the sense of attempts or explorations of a subject which is too vast, and too profound, yet also, paradoxically, too familiar (to some deepest part of us) to be exhausted by any one expression or approach. As George puts it, 'The book is not quite a collection of essays, or the fragments of an autobiography, or a record of inter-dimensional journeys, or a work of metaphysics, or a sociopolitical critique, or an attempt to formulate a contemporary mythology—although it has elements of all of these.'" Brian George is the author of five books of poetry and two books of essays. He is a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art, an exhibited artist and former art teacher at several Boston area middle schools, a former member of the Boston Visionary Cell, and a former organizer for Evolver Boston. He was a founding member of MAAP SPACE, a multimedia performance series, as well as of the Revolving Arts Salon and the current Cedar Square Arts Salon. He often tells people first discovering his work that his goal is not so much to be read as to be re-read, and then lived with. My guests, Brian Janes and Brian George recount their lives as closeted gay men. They both knew they were gay at an early age, but completely repressed that knowledge for several decades, both coming out in their early 50s. Ironically, each of them were married with two children. Their stories are somewhat similar in some ways and then very different in other ways. This definitely allows you, the listener, to see this from more than one perspective. The powerful impact of this episode is illuminating the profound costs that come along with long term repression of who you really are. If you or someone you know is struggling with the decision to come out and embrace who you truly are, this bonus episode is for you. Please share this with someone that may be struggling.Brian Janes' ProfileBrian George's Profile Be a GuestFollow on FacebookMaddox's LinksMailing List SignupRate & Review

My guest, Brian George, shares that the messages he received while growing up were so strong that he truly believed he could never be his authentic self... he would die pretending to be someone other than who he was. This caused him to live with deep depression, anxiety, and a profound desire to end his life... end his pain. This went on from high school until his early 50s. It was an affair with another man that opened his eyes and helped him realize that he could no longer deny who he was. From miserable, suicidal, and hiding behind a fake smile, to becoming happy and content. Listen to his story of how he finally broke through.Brian authors a blog called Hiding Behind The Smile.Hiding Behind The SmileBrian's ProfileBe a GuestFollow Us on FacebookFollow Us on InstagramFollow Us on Twitter

Our guest in this week's episode is Brian George, the vice president of sales at Petrageous Designs. His company designs and sells pet clothing and feeding products, such as dog and cat bowls and water dishes. As a small company, Petrageous Designs does not have the big clout that large shippers may have in getting products through supply chain bottlenecks. George discusses the current freight situation and the various strategies his company uses to relieve some of the stress.Chinese New Year starts next week. The holiday traditionally shuts down many factories and may further slow operations at Chinese ports. Will these disruptions make for even more problems for shippers trying to obtain products from China and other Asian countries? What can we expect in the weeks ahead? While there remains a lot of uncertainty as we close out the first month of the year, many leaders of freight companies remain rather bullish on their prospects for success in 2022. Hear what they are saying and the reasons for their optimism. In this wide ranging rant, Woke Asian Guy starts off with what the 90's American sitcoms were like regarding diversity and uses Seinfeld as an example. We see how hard it was when the actors don't look like the cast of Friends and how their stories were written. We then segue into the mistaken scientific fact that Squirrels are practically human… horse poo we say and we break it down to show you. And FINALLY! We have an audio trailer of Jim Davidson the sitcom titled: Jim Davidson is my Bigoted Uncle and Lives in my Attic. Rolls off the tongue right? Two weeks ago, I gave my "way too early" review of the new Avengers game, but now that I've finished the campaign, I'm back with a complete review! By the way, Yusuf "Abu" Khan is voice by Brian George. Rough Transcript:Now that I’ve completed the campaign for Marvel’s Avengers, as well as quite a few missions for the Avengers Initiative, I feel ready to give a complete review of the game. My non-spoiler review: the ending is very strong, and the game really opens up. SPOILERS below! ----more----While I was mostly positive in my review for the early stages of the game, I was still a little unsure about some key points, namely the heavy focus on Kamala Khan (aka Ms. Marvel). However, after finishing the campaign, I can say that nearly every concern either went away or turned into a strength. Let’s start out with Kamala. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt because she wasn’t a character I knew, they focused on her early in the game after teasing us with the “classic” Avengers, and because I think they made her a bit too naïve. All that being said, she has two huge moments in the last half of the campaign that really sold me. The first is when she finds the clue from Monica’s interrogation, then has J.A.R.V.I.S. accidentally call her father, Yusuf. This scene has to work, and it does. First off, Brian George (the voice of Yusuf) gives an incredible performance here with only his voice. He conveys so much emotion on that call (not an easy thing to do when it’s only you talking), and it’s all believable. Then, the other important part is Kamala, a video game character, having to show just as much emotion while only using her animated face. The developers really outdid themselves with this scene, and I basically forgot it was a video game. Sandra Saad, the actress and breakout star who portrays Kamala, also deserves praise for the motion capture work and heartbreaking “love you more” just after the call ends. Kamala’s second big moment comes immediately after, and it’s the speech she gives to the Avengers about how they still inspire people, and that the world still needs them. Usually, I find these types of speeches/moments cheesy, but this felt earned and like it really fit the moment. And, of course, it helps lead to the emotional moment where all of the Avengers (minus Captain America) reunite. That clue that Kamala finds is a lead to finding Steve Rogers (aka Captain America), though they don’t know it yet, and that’s where the entire tone and momentum of the story shift. When Tony finds Cap, his emotion feels very real, and it’s shared by the entire team when he and Cap return to Earth (after a sequence that was incredibly similar to the opening scene of Avengers: Endgame, with Tony being saved from suffocation in space, except this time it’s Thor who saves him instead of Captain Marvel). When Cap is finally back, he takes control and steals the show, much like Chris Evans’ version. He’s a constant source of encouragement, defiance, and resolve. As expected, he makes a couple of signature “Cap speeches” that I would, again, normally find cheesy. However, the Avengers are pretty down on their luck at this point, so the speeches feel relevant, timely, and earned. I have to give it to the team/developers a lot of credit again since I could literally feel the energy and vibe shift when Steve Rogers rejoins the fight, which isn’t something that happens a lot in video games. In terms of big picture stuff, the frame rate drop issues happens quite frequently still. It’s not very often, but just a couple of times of going from frames per second to frames per minute will make you cringe. Story-wise, I think the campaign is just about the right length. It’s not too short that it only feels like a tacked-on tutorial, but it’s nowhere near Red Dead length, for example. Now, I'm not sure if I'm going to go back and play it in like a New Game+ scenario. That's where the Avengers Initiative comes in nicely, which is the post-campaign prologue/online elemental of the game. This is where I actually really have to give credit to Square Enix because there are some games where they’re just clearly a money grab, but this doesn't feel like that. I really like the touch that you can play with CPU characters; you don't have to online matchmake or anything like that, and that's for a couple of reasons. Number one, you don't have to play online with other people if you don't want to, and I'm one that usually tends not to, but it's also good for just the longevity of the game. When the servers stop and you can't matchmake with anyone online anymore, you'll still be able to play the game because they'll just be CPU players. Speaking of that, I am super impressed that the CPU characters feel so real in. They’re decision making is smart and does feel real; pretty much just as good as having a real person there. One other thing I forgot to mention: in my first review, I said that I didn't know how I felt about fighting robots a lot of the time. Playing more, I realized that there's actually more humans than I remembered. By the same token, there's a lot of different types of robots and it's really no different than Batman fighting a ton of the same thugs in like Arkham Knight or something like that. In that game, there are like four or five player models in that one, tops, for the thugs, so that's really no different than robots. The one last thing that I'm not sure how to feel about is that I saw this joke and I can’t unsee it: the character models in this game for the Avengers like Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, and Natasha Romanoff are basically the stunt double versions of the MCU versions. They're a little bit different, a little bit tweaked… but still. Granted, it's tough because you have to choose: do you want to copy them exactly, or do you want to make it your own? However, it seems like they settled on this weird in-between where they didn't quite know what they wanted to do. It's not distracting or anything, and If I hadn't heard the talk about it at the time of the trailer release, I wouldn't thought anything about it, but now that I heard that and saw that, I can't unsee it. My final thoughts: like I said, it’s a very strong finish to the game. The game opens up a lot because you have more players to choose from, obviously, so you don't have to just play as Kamala or the Hulk. I still can't believe how the game turns around when Steve re-enters the fight, like you can just feel it; it's just incredible for a video game. Definitely go out and buy this one. It's a lot of fun, you can play for hours, there's a lot of post-campaign content, and there's going to be even more with DLC's and stuff like that. So yeah, go out and get this one. It's a good one. This is Marvel's Avengers and I'd say it gets an “A” rating for sure. This is a review of Marvel's Avengers (2020) from Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix. Clips are used for review purposes, as is Alan Silvestri's "Avengers Theme". I do not own any of those pieces of content. The RTW crew has a great discussion about Brian George, Seinfeld guest star/Papa Bashir, the ethics of genetic engineering, and whether it’s okay to retrofit significant character traits five seasons into a television show. Nicholas Heyward Jr. was 13 years old when he was killed by NYPD officer Brian George in the Gowanus Houses in Brooklyn on September 27, 1994, Bill Bratton was police commissioner then just as he is now. Police called the shooting a "tragedy," and "accidental discharge," just as in the Gurley shooting. Nicholas Heyward Sr. passed away this week. He was a leading proponent of holding cops accountable for the deaths of hundreds at the hands of police, mostly Black and Latinx people. He pursued the officer who killed his son with complaints, lawsuits and protests and confronted police chiefs and district attorneys. He was a convener of the annual October 22nd march against police brutality. Here is a clip of an interview he gave on the program Let Them Talk with Paul DeRienzo.
Today on The Neil Show, The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Sarayu Blue and Paul Adelstein of NBC's I Feel Bad. Emet is the perfect mom, boss, wife, friend and daughter. OK, she's not perfect. In fact, she's just figuring it out like the rest of us. Sure, she feels bad when she has a sexy dream about someone other than her husband, or when she pretends not to know her kids when they misbehave in public, or when she uses her staff to help solve personal problems. But that's OK, right? Nobody can have it all and do it perfectly. From executive producer Amy Poehler comes a modern comedy about being perfectly OK with being imperfect. The cast includes Sarayu Blue, Paul Adelstein, Madhur Jaffrey, Brian George, James Buckley, Zach Cherry and Johnny Pemberton. Aseem Batra will write and executive produce. Julie Anne Robinson will direct and executive produce the pilot. Amy Poehler, Dave Becky and Josh Maurer also executive produce. “I Feel Bad” is produced by Universal Television, Paper Kite Productions, CannyLads Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment.
