Here we go then, the January 2025 edition of Idle Game Chat has arrived. Coming in at almost 7 hours, this is a big one! I encourage you all to take your time in consuming this, we won't be back until February so there is no rush to get through. Take your time and chip away at it! Let's get into the run down. The Game Awards 2024A new year and a new era? Maybe, but before we look forward at what 2025 is going to bring us let's take a look back at 2024! The Game Awards had one of its better showings in terms of game reveals. Naughty Dog closed the show with their new IP, Intergalactic, The Witcher IV got itself a nice CG trailer, Okami is getting a sequel and much more. How many bollard ticklers did The Game Awards produce? Mr. Apps & Mr. Adkins run down their lists. Oh…we talk about the Awards too…Year-In-Review 2024Mr. Logan takes us through a Year-In-Review for 2024. We all thought we would be sitting here with Pre-Orders for the Super Switch (this is the best name), ready for an early 2025 release but Nintendo had other ideas. Are people getting impatient waiting for new hardware, despite still having a decent slate of games in 2024? PlayStation had one of the biggest disasters in gaming history with the release and subsequent cancellation of Concord, but they also had the highest rated game of the year with Astro Bot. This is reinforced by other strong exclusive offerings like Hellblade 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Stellar Blade. Many of these were not First Party offerings, which begs two questions, does it actually matter and was it really a terrible year to be playing on PS5? Xbox on the other hand had one of the strangest years on record. They closed multiple studios down and their shift towards multiplatform releases only got more aggressive as the year went on. What does this mean for the Xbox brand and their future in hardware? What is an Xbox?Metaphor: ReFantazio ReviewMr. Apps returns with another longform review of Game of Year contender, Metaphor: ReFantazio. Having played Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal all in the last 18 months, will he be feeling burnout or will the change of scenery be enough for another huge JRPG? How does it stack up with the Persona franchise and could Metaphor be another long-term IP for Atlus. All and more are answered.FGL 2025 – The DraftIt's that time of the year again, the Fantasy Gaming League Draft! It's Mr. Paper vs. Mr. Hall as they compete for the coveted FGL Championship. Paper is looking to break the curse and become the first person to successfully defend the FGL title. Hall is looking to make history himself, by becoming the first person to win the Triple Crown. Having won the Grand Prix and the Quiz in the past, this is the last accoladed missing. Hit songwriter, Emily Weisband, joins Caroline for this episode of Get Real. When Caroline heard Emily's “Champagne & Sushi” she literally hit her knees and wept. She has never in her life felt more seen. She has lost 5 pregnancies and it is truly the saddest, most isolating, devastating experience, that you go through ALL ALONE as a woman. Yes of course your partner, family and friends are there and ache with you, but it's a heartbreaking solo journey. Emily wrote a song that captures every feeling a woman feels who goes through miscarriage. It's a true masterpiece. But that's what Emily does. To Caroline, and many others in the Nashville creative community, Emily is a musical genius. Her ability to capture raw human emotion and put it into song takes your breath away. She has written songs for Chris Young, Sheryl Crow, Anne Wilson, Jeremy Camp, Dasha, Danielle Bradbury, Lily Rose, Gabby Barrett, Camila Cabello, Hillary Scott, Noah Cyrus, Lauren Alaina, FGL, Sam Hunt, Dan & Shay, Old Dominion, Keith Urban, Darius Rucker to name a few. And with each song she writes, she lets the listener see themselves in the story, feel seen and a little less alone. It was so healing having such a raw real conversation with Emily all about the real, raw, often painful yet beautiful life experience.  Follow Get Real on IG: @GetRealCarolineHobby Follow Caroline Hobby on IG: @CaroHobby  Follow Emily Weisband on IG: @EmilyWeisband Have a question for Caroline?? Chase Rice is an American Country Music Singer-Songwriter from Asheville, North Carolina. He is best known for his song, "Eyes on You" which has over a quarter billion streams on Spotify, and for co-writing the #1 hit, "Cruise" with Florida Georgia Line.  In this Episode, Chase shares how he got started in making music. He first picked up a guitar at the UNC where one of his teammates on the football team taught him a few chords. He would later fall in love with music after being plagued by injuries and the passing of his father, which led to Chase's first song, "Larger than life". He shares how hard it was to get through that time and how after a short stint working as a NASCAR pit man, he felt pursuing music was the only option. Chase opens up about his record deal and how he now feels free to produce the kind of music that he truly believes in, rather than chasing hits or what's trending. He's gotten back to his roots on his new EP, Songs From I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell.  The boys share a few laughs, crack a few movie references, and talk about golf. This is a great episode for anyone who enjoys a good laugh, anyone who loves country music, or anyone looking to be inspired by the human spirit. From his early days of writing and drumming in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to being crowned Songwriter of the Century by ASCAP, he has indeed created for himself a monumental platform in the history of country music. As the writer of songs including Brooks and Dunn's “Believe” to Blake Shelton's “Boys ‘Round Here” to Morgan Wallen's “Chasin' You”, he has amassed over 350 cuts, 130 singles, and 29 #1's. After moving to Nashville in 1985 to pursue a career in songwriting, he received his first chart success after having co-written “The Only One” from Roy Orbison's album, Mystery Girl. In 1990, our guest signed his first publishing deal with Almo/Irving Music, and ten years later, he signed with BMG Music Publishing. In 2003, he opened his own publishing company, and within the first year of the independent company's operation, he experienced the first single of the catalog; “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw not only peaked at the top of the charts for ten weeks, but it also was named NSAI Song of the Year, CMA Song of the Year, ACM Song of the Year and won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song. In 2012, our guest co-founded Big Loud's management division, the launchpad of Florida Georgia Line, followed by Big Loud Records in 2015. His success has continued to escalate at exponential levels throughout the years. He was proclaimed ASCAP's “Songwriter of the Year” in 2003, 2005, and 2007 in addition to being named “Writer of the Year” by NSAI and Music Row in 1997. In 2009, he received the impressive honor of NSAI's “Songwriter of the Decade” and won the 2014 Heritage Award from ASCAP as the most performed country songwriter of the century. Following those years of success, hard work & accomplishments, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in October of 2015. In 2017, he was honored with a CMA Triple Play Award for FGL's “Anything Goes” & Blake Shelton's “Gonna” & “Came Here To Forget.”.
