Dr. Laura hosts a special episode to highlight The LiLoHia Project. She's joined by Gerald Auger and Sass Jordan, co-collaborators on The LiLoHia Project, for a conversation on exactly what the project is about, what it aims to do, and who can get involved. LiLoHia - light, love, and gratitude - is about spirituality and the rise of human consciousness, and includes episodes, concerts and healing events curated by Gerald and Sass, centered around the solstice dates (March 21, June 21, September 21, December 21).Sass Jordan explains LiLoHia was created because there is such a demand by people to understand what's happening in the world, to sort out underlying confusion and connect to oneself. Gerald Auger says “We're just fulfilling our commitment that we made to our higher power to help our fellow human beings”. Dr. Laura and her guests discuss the journey Gerald and Sass are on, the different paths people find themselves on when seeking spirituality, and what spirituality is and can be. The conversation sheds light on how all these insights weave into The LiLoHia Project. “... because we have the opportunity to have public platforms, we're just sharing our journey with anyone who's interested ... I think it's a collective growth that we're all going through. And, you know, when you can lean on each other, someone else has a question and maybe you have an answer… but beyond anything that you say, it's [that] you got to walk your talk.” - Sass JordanAbout Gerald Auger:Gerald Auger is an actor, producer, writer, entrepreneur and motivational speaker from Alberta, Canada, of Woodland Cree descent. He graduated from Grande Prairie Regional College in 1995 with a Marketing Management diploma and a Small Business Management certificate. In 1996 and 1997 Auger was awarded the National Native Role Model by the Governor General of Canada and spent the next two years visiting more than 30 communities across Canada, inspiring his aboriginal peers, relating stories about his experiences and bonding with locals through cultural events and ceremonies. After being spotted at the opening ceremonies of the 1995 Canada Winter Games, Auger was given a supporting role in the 1998 film Il mio West (later dubbed Gunslinger's Revenge), also starring David Bowie and Harvey Keitel. Filmed in Italy for Pacific Pictures, it was the first spaghetti western to use First Nations actors in aboriginal roles. In 1999 Auger became the first aboriginal recipient of the Rotary International Integrity Award for the Avenue of Nations in Alberta. Auger had a lead role in the 2002 National Geographic IMAX-production Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West, and the next year he played Crow Hunter in an episode of the four-part Hallmark Entertainment TV miniseries Dreamkeeper. In addition to being in the opening and closing ceremonies for the Arctic Winter Games as Anook the Rockman for The Heroes Journey in 2010, Auger had a role in the cult classic FUBAR 2 and played a Native guide and interpreter in Western Confidential (starring FUBAR's Paul Spence) as well as a Native policeman in The Plateau.Auger produced, wrote and directed the 2007 short film Walking Alone about the life of rapper Shawn Bernard, and the 2008 National Film Board of Canada documentary Honour Thy Father that tells the story of his conflict with the Anglican Church (which refused his late father to have a traditional native funeral), and won Best Film Representing Cultural Diversity at the Alberta Motion Picture Industry Awards in 2009.As owner and Chief Executing Officer of the business Black Eagle Entertainment, Auger plans to produce films, television series and documentaries aiming to advance the status and expose the stereotyping of his people. Auger is currently (spring 2013) working on his latest film project The Forgotten Truth of the Wilderness where he explores the idea that the Son of God was one of the greatest Sundancer's that ever lived for he was one of the first men to give his flesh to a tree.About Sass Jordan:The roots that grew Canada's Queen of Rock, Sass Jordan, started in Europe and edged across the pond to the veins of metal pulsing in the musical metallurgy of Montreal in the 70's. Montreal's burgeoning '70's scene included a ‘no holds barred' approach to glam, punk, blues, prog, metal, country, jazz, folk, with the added attraction of a homegrown sound created by the Quebecois artists of the decade, unique to the landscape and pertinent to the denizens of the period. There was no better musical place to be in the '70's- and this was the backdrop that nurtured one of the pioneers of female fronted rock – Sass Jordan. In the years since these auspicious beginnings, Sass has found herself working with and in the company of many of the people that inspired her to do what she does, amongst them the incomparable Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Steve Miller Band, Van Halen, The Foo Fighters, Cheap Trick, Santana, Joe Cocker, Styx, Rodger Hodgson, April Wine, Jeff Healy, and countless others. She has won various awards, including Juno and Billboard, and has sold over a million records world wide.Sass was a feature actor in the episodic tv show “Sisters”, and from 2003 to 2008 starred as one of the four judges on the hugely popular television series, Canadian Idol. Her songs and performances have been featured on numerous television shows, including the iconic 90's ‘Baywatch' and ‘Knight Rider', The Dennis Miller Show, and SyFy's ‘Defiance'.There are very few female singers out there that are used as an example to describe a sound/style, but Sass is one of them.Resources:Gerald Auger websiteGerald Auger on FacebookSass Jordan websiteSass Jordan on InstagramThe LiLoHia Project on YouTubeThe LiLoHia Project on InstagramThe LiLoHia Project on TwitterLearn more about Dr. Laura on her website: https://drlaura.liveFor more resources, look into Dr. Laura's organizations: Canada Career CounsellingCalgary Career CounsellingSynthesis Psychology

She's a badass blues woman with the best laugh in this or any other business. Sass Jordan joins us to talk about female rockers (there aren't that many), great musicians, and how to spot true talent. Not giving a damn about anything except love, family and creativity, and maybe food and drink. What it's like to be in Dad territory, as in “My dad thinks you're hot”. Warning: lots of hooting and hollering, giggling and cackling. Born in England, raised in Montreal, Sarah Jordan became Sass because she's full of it. Named Most Promising Vocalist by the Junos in 1989, Sass has kept that promise. Billboard listed her as the Top Female Rock Artist of the year in 1992, the year she released “Racine”, her landmark album that made everyone a believer. An actress on stage and screen, Sass also sat as a judge on all six seasons of Canadian Idol. Her latest album, Bitches Blues, featuring the song Still Alive and Well is available on Stony Plain Records. We love writing and would love for you to read what we write. Sass Jordan hit pay dirt in the early 90's with rock radio hit albums like Racine and Rats, and songs like “Make You a Believer” and “You Don't Have to Remind Me.” But, she also garnered a Juno award in 1989, and even portrayed Janis Joplin in an off-Broadway musical. While Covid was raging, Sass issued her first all-blues album called Rebel Moon Blues to critical acclaim. Now, she's put together another collection, some originals, some covers, called Bitches Blues from Stony Plain Records. We chat with Sass about playing live in a post-Covid world - how both musicians and the audience need to relearn how to have fun. Plus, how she dug back to her childhood to pick some of the songs on her new record.
EPISODE 13 - EXTERNAL Version for Non-Spotify Listeners! Recently we lost a great musician - Oliver Taylor Hawkins (February 17, 1972 – March 25, 2022) was an American musician, widely known as the drummer for the rock band Foo Fighters, with whom he recorded eight studio albums between 1999 and 2021. Before joining the band in 1997, he was the touring drummer for Sass Jordan and for Alanis Morissette, as well as the drummer in the progressive experimental band Sylvia. Dave Grohl found a kindred spirit, friend and comrade in Taylor - their mutual admiration for each other was displayed in interviews, on and off stage and in the music. Dave said in a past interview about his first meeting with Taylor.... "The first time we met, we were at some radio show backstage, and he came up with a beer in his hand. He's like, ‘Hey, man, what's up? I'm Taylor, I play with Alanis Morissette. Dude, I love your record, it's so cool!' He was such a spaz. I was like, ‘Wow, you're either my twin or my spirit animal, or my best friend!' In the first 10 seconds of meeting him. And, of course, I'd seen him play the drums, and I thought he was an amazing drummer.” This episode of The Add To My Playlist Podcast highlights two songs - a song written by Dave dedicated to Taylor called "On The Mend" and "My Hero" Thanks Taylor, for the music lives on. @addtomyplaylistpodcast on all social platforms podcast presented by True Media Solutions

There Is Nothing Left to Lose. La última actuación de Hawkins con los Foo Fighters antes de su muerte fue en el festival Lollapalooza Argentina el 20 de marzo de 2022. Hawkins ganó póstumamente tres premios Grammy con los Foo Fighters el 3 de abril de 2022.

Sometimes life happens… and sometimes death happens. Everyone in the rock world was shocked to hear of Taylor Hawkins's untimely passing on March 25, 2022. We didn't know the man, but certainly thought a lot of him as a phenomenal musician who really was the driving force behind the Foo Fighters as well as modern rock n' roll in general. From videos and documentaries, he seemed like a really cool guy and sweet dude. This week we pay tribute to the smilin' heavy hitter and a hell of a singer, the only way we know how, by not playing a single note from the Foo Fighters. New to InObscuria? It's all about digging up obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode, we will focus on Taylor's solo material, guest appearances, and side projects. If there is one positive thing to come from this sadness, it would be that all of his great music gets the exposure it deserves.Songs this week include:Dave Grohl & Taylor Hawkins – “2112 Overture” from RUSH, Rock Hall Induction Ceremony (2013)Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders – “Shapes Of Things” from Get The Money (2019)Brian May – “Cyborg” from Another World (1998)Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders – “Louise” from Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders(2006)Coheed & Cambria – “No World For Tomorrow” from Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow(2007)Taylor Hawkins – “Southern Belles” from Kota (2016)The Birds Of Satan – “Wait Til Tomorrow” from The Birds Of Satan (2014)Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders – “Don't Have To Speak” from Red Light Fever(2010)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
We've all been mourning since March 25th after learning about the untimely death of Taylor Hawkins. In memory of Taylor Hawkins here are our conversations with Stevie Salas and Sass Jordan. They both talked about Taylor Hawkins with fondness and love. To Stevie, Taylor was his younger brother that he always loved. Through all the highs and all the lows. Sass was the same way. Sass even had the chance on many occasions to sing with Taylor and the rest of the boys in Foo Fighters. We're all going to miss seeing Taylor Hawkins play live at a Foo Fighters show. Gregg and I are also going to miss dreaming about Taylor Hawkins coming on our show one day. We miss you Taylor. May you rest in peace.
